Suzette's is probably the best restaurant that you've never visited. That should change. Suzette's is a quiet, modest looking stop off of 169 just south of Jordan, and easily missed as drive between the Cities and Mankato. My recommendation: plan to enjoy a delicious dinner at make plans to stop. Suzette's is a family owned restaurant serving up high quality cuisine with a focus on surf, turf, and exquisite pasta dishes with an European flair. Suzette's owner and chef is Banrith Yong, who has quite the heartbreaking and resilient story of emigrating from Cambodia. It's worth the read on their website, trust me (suzettesrestaurantmn.com). Short story is that he is classically trained and you can tell from the food and presentation. Back to the food... Banrith makes homemade soups and salad dressings and seeks out fresh veggies for his dishes. AND, can't forget to praise the desserts - made in house by their daughter Lena, who owns her own business (Lemon & Von), specializing in crepe cakes. It's not a cheap night out, but it's also not expensive for food of this quality. I find the prices are approachable and good value for the tastes and treats of the meal you'll receive. I've read some of the negative reviews that keeps this from being 5 stars overall. Those reviews frustrate me. No, it's not a glitzy pretentious French restaurant. But this is an emigrant, family owned, heart forward, delish and tasty treasure for the SW metro. We have been patrons for the past few years after finally making a stop... so glad we did! We hope this family business thrives - visit and enjoy on your next dinner out in the SW Metro area!

I was really excited to try this place as all the food looked amazing. I was disappointed that they didn't have any escargot and they haven't had it for quite some time. They should take it off them Menu if they don't have it and don't know when they will be getting it back. I am positive everything is made in house (which is great) every sauce, every dressing, every soup, every everything. I got the mixed grill because I wanted to try a bit of everything. The carrots on my plate were very undercooked and I could tell it was the same for the rest of my party. All of my protein was rather under seasoned, I had to add salt and pepper to everything. The service was spectacular though and the desserts were top notch. Excellent sugar crust on the crème brûlée! I will give this place another try in the future.

I believe this is the pork chop and medallions so yummy! Been going there for over 10 years. I've never had a bad meal.

Ok-I guess you might be able to consider me a fairly frequent diner or fan of this establishment. My husband and I came tonight With our daughter to celebrate her graduation from Gustavus... and I noticed several other tables of particularly couples celebrating special events. It is like family here and the Suzette owners, family and staff seem to enjoy pleasing and serving their customers that are looking for a nice meal out. We had just that! Ice cold water, chilly beer, ok wine, 2 plates of escargot, salads, 3 of us split the stuffed prawns, and the Cheatobrian. Once again... no room left for desert! Lena our server was perfect. Saw the chef(owner) and wife greeting many locals. Nice to see loyal customers at this special place. I'm sorry I won't have as much of a reason to come to Jordan... but there us always the big yellow candy barn and apples in the fall. Oh... by the way... you can bring your own bottle of wine. I'm sure there is a cork charge.

What a great surprise! Was out in the country for a great concert at a wine shop in Jordan and decided to stop for dinner The low key, not large place is a hidden gem. Friendly, efficient service. Sparkling clean. Good prices. Perfect sized portions. Price and portion allows for desert!

I drive between Belle Plaine and Shakopee for work on a daily basis. Finally decided to stop in and give this place a try based on the numerous positive reviews this restaurant has on Yelp. I'm now convinced a bunch of bumpkins are the ones dishing out the four and five star reviews--there's not a chance an establishment like this would survive in the Cities. I ordered the chicken Marsala and the Caesar salad. I also requested iced tea to drink. My waitress told me that she would have to brew hot tea and dump it over ice. That's odd. The Caesar salad is cheaply made--instead of real Parmesan cheese, they sprinkle the Kraft stuff on top of the salad. That's tacky and imparts a far different taste. Their website states they are a "fine dining restaurant". Fine dining restaurants don't prepare salads in this manner. I didn't see any fresh pepper available either, though I didn't ask. The dressing was tasty, but very watery and it soaked the lettuce leaves. At least the lettuce wasn't brown. The chicken Marsala came out with the middle basically raw. The chicken was not edible at all. The middle outside was lightly browned and was about all the cooking that was performed. I had it sent back to the kitchen. It came back partially cooked. I decided not to bother with another send back. When the waitress asked if I wanted a box "to go", I thought she would pick up on the fact the food was no good. She didn't. No compensation for the poor quality of my meal. An employee told me that customers rarely complain and have food sent back. I didn't tell her that people typically don't speak up because they are afraid the food will be doctored. I'll sometimes give a place with good reviews a second try. I can not do that with this place. Avoid the entire BP-Shakopee corridor. I don't know that there's a four star restaurant anywhere along 169.

Get in your cars and drive a reasonably elevated, although not too illegal of a speed and get to Suzette's ASAP! This hidden gem, well it's not hidden at all, it's on highway 169. Just remember to look at the opposite side of the road from the Worlds Largest Candy Store. This is 1,000% worth including in your day trip! If you live in the cities, make the voyage to Suzette's for a fantastic dinner! The seafood is unmatched. The family who runs this place is genuine and truly talented. It's a bit of a French Vietnamese flavor, - although nothing is Vietnamese, rather the influence of each. My kiddo had the big seafood dish- the most expensive option because it was his birthday and he's just that cool. I had a seafood pasta and while it was good, my kids dish was better. He's learning from the master and out ordering his mother. We also had dessert- unbelievably good. A French puff pastry and cream with fruit, maybe it was called the fruit napoleon and the bread pudding. They had to roll us outta there but it was fantastic. Run- Speed- knock down old ladies and push the children out of your way and get a fantastic dinner at Suzette's! They prefer cash, so come packing with cash and plan to tip BIG. They deserve it. Plus they live in Jordan and this city girl wouldn't survive 24 hours out there, but I sure do appreciate that Suzette's is there to feed us when we come through! Suzette's will not disappoint! And if it does, just know it's you and not them.

Suzette's is one of the most amazing restaurants ever!!!!! I eat at lots of restaurants so I would know. and i know Suzette is one of the best! i am blown away every time I come here. I love it so much. it truly is such a hidden gem, it's locate in Jordan, MN pretty far out there, but it is soo worth the drive! I am inspired by the chef there, his story is amazing. you can read about it on the website, but basically he survived the Cambodian genocide, left Cambodia to become chef in Europe and now opened amazing restaurant in MN! he is the only chef at the restaurant too I love to support local business, especially local minority owned ones!! my family is also SE Asia immigrants so i extra love to support the family at Suzette's! Cute restaurant with delicious menu. they are so friendly here. I LOVE the Beef Wellington!! They dont have it every day, but they often feature it as the weekend special, so call ahead or check their Facebook to see if they have it . But the beef is soo tender, and the red wine sauce is amazing! All the entrees come with choice of soup or salad. and they give you bread rolls here too The crab cakes are good for appetizer! or you can make it a meal. the portobello mushrooms and chicken sausage is yummy Suzette's also has the most INCREDIBLE desserts ever!!!!! you could come here and just eat the desserts. they have so much variety and all of them are so good. the favorite is their Crepe cake, which they rotate the flavor of. I have had the vanilla/strawberry crepe cake and i LOVEd it so much. Creme Brulee is a must here too!! crunchy burnt sugar topping is delicious and fun to crack into. Suzettes is the perfect place for a special occasion or just your regular old Friday night. awesome awesome place i LOVE it! you can even make reservations through their FB page by messaging them if you need to. I worry about what will happen when the chef decides to retire,so you better go enjoy it now while you still can!! yeah!

Tiramisu

A beautiful gem in Jordan, MN. We got today's Lamb special. So tender, so delicious. Melt in your mouth. Desserts: Tiramisu and Napoleon fruits (hope I spell it right). The fruits dessert would knock your socks off, so good beyond this world. Heavenly place. If you love European flair, I highly recommend this place. We will definitely be back.

Always heard about the great food. We went on our wedding anniversary for a special dinner. Had the escargot for an appetizer, Caesar salad, seafood mix grill beef Chateaubriand and for desert fruit Napoleon. Everything was so good. Our server was great. Mask mandate (covid) so could not see her smile but she had a twinkle in her eye. Always checked if we needed anything. It may not be the nicest building but if you want food quality over appearance, this is the place. Not your franchise food you can get anywhere.

It was not great. The problem? I think it was because owner/chef Rene Ruiz Olivar was acting as waiter, not chef. We gave Sr. Ruiz the freedom to choose our tapas, with one exception, the black ink pasta with scallops and shrimp (Tinta Negra) that reviewers have raved about. He said, no problema--he would serve it. Then he must have forgotten because we never got it. The first tapa served, almond-crusted manchego (Almendrado), was plated prettily and was delicious but oh-so-sweet. It was an odd choice for a starter, would have been better as the finale in case nobody ordered dessert. Soon came a lamb tapa (Cordero). The lamb chops' quality was uncertain as the meat was severely overcooked. El Bodegon's langoustines (Gambas al Ajillo) had given every bit of their sea flavor to the sauce, which was magnificent, we all agreed. But where were the dish's promised mussels, the rice? One shared plate, a beef tenderloin tapa (Carne Brava), had apparently lingered too long in the kitchen--the meat was nearly cold. I adore papas bravas (Patatas Bravas). I must have had the dish a dozen times or more during my last trip to Spain, in 2017, when I visited friends who live in Ronda. During my six-week stay, we toured Andalucia, staying at hotels in large cities and visiting small towns. I also spent time sola in Madrid and Barcelona. Unlike in Spain, El Bodegon's potatoes were diced to death. Never in Spain have I ever had patatas bravas that were not substantial in size. All in all, I found the vegetables accompanying the tapas unrecognizable except for the tiny Brussels sprouts. The rest seemed chopped up or stirred to pieces in the pan. Some of my friends had churros for their dessert. They deemed them appropriately hot and tasty. My dessert was cheesecake torte, decked out with a candle as it was my 90th birthday. The torte was a gold-star winner. It was absolutely delicious, its plating the most successful of the evening. It was so perfect it almost made up for the sub-par tapas that preceded it. One of us had a view of the kitchen from his seat at the table. He saw a man other than the chef/owner doing the cooking. Was he a trainee? Did Sr. Ruiz help with the plating? God knows he didn't have a lot patrons to contend with in his role as waiter. It was a slow weeknight, and there were never more than four tables occupied. I sincerely regret that our time at El Bodegon differs from so many reviewers. Like them, I want to see Sr. Ruiz's little restaurant succeed. He has a hard row to hoe, and I hope a disappointing dinner like ours does not befall anyone else going forward.

Here's my review of the food we ordered: Cocktail of the hour - aka "Golden Hour" - 8.5/10 Reminded me of mulled cider, notes of honey, very refreshing Pork Belly Steam Buns - 8.1/10 Nice texture, very tender and flavorful Mini Banh Mi - 7/10 Not bad, would have preferred the more traditional pork filling Crispy Chicken- 8.7/10 This really surprised me, from appearance the chicken didn't look that special but it was well seasoned and the sweet chili glaze really stole the show and elevated this dish! Mirabelle Smash Burger - 8.9/10 I'm a sucker for smash burgers and this one did not disappoint. Nice crispy bun and a special mustard sauce that we enjoyed and a different flavor I don't usually have on my burger Sticky Ribs - 5/10 Unfortunately these were quite dry and was comparing to sticky ribs I had last week at CoV that were fall off the bone Overall good spot, service, atmosphere, and would be happy to return. Prices were also great for happy hour.

Very close to the lake(walking distance) There is a free parking ramp right behind the building. The decor of this place is cute! The details seem like they were well thought out! It feels upscale and cozy! I saw a video of this place and that was what originally drew me in! The seating here is also comfortable and not over crowded. Our server was ok. I saw so many raves about the "amazing service." She did refill our water glasses, which was good because I needed it with the salty steak! Obviously the most important piece is the food. We started with the popovers. The taste was fine but the texture was almost over done. The honey butter was lacking honey flavor. Cinnamon would have really elevated the butter! I got the steak frites and my sister got the spaghetti. My fries were average. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium all the way through! I was impressed. However, it was drowning in a VERY salty sauce! I had push a lot of it off. This should be served on the side, not covering the whole steak. My sister got the spaghetti, which our waitress explained was not a regular spaghetti. I feel she has probably had to do that multiple times and honestly, it should just be renamed. It's confusing for the customer. My sister did say she enjoyed the dish and that the shrimp was ere done well. For dessert I got "Aunties iced latte" which is their version of like an espresso martini. It was just ok. Would not get again. We got the carrot cake which was good!! But then they ruined it by putting fake whipped cream.... This is supposed to be a higher end restaurant and that made the dessert feel so cheap. We also got the creme brûlée. DO NOT ORDER THAT! It is an absolute waste of money! The sugar top was so thick we couldn't eat it! The dessert had the consistency of scrambled eggs, not a smooth custard. The taste seemed ok, but whoever made this does not know what they are doing! Overall, the food was not memorable and a lot of it was done poorly. There are definitely better restaurants in the area.

The surprise was that it was wrapped in thin cucumber strips that added a little crunch and freshness. Shaved kumquats added that hit of sweet and sour. Bucatini tutti mare. Handmade noodles had great texture and chew. Creamy sauce was good. Mussels were fresh. I wish the shrimp were grilled instead of sauteed in the sauce, it would have added great flavor and texture. Protip: ask for Parmesan cheese to sprinkle on top. It added that needed nuttiness and savory element. Braised cabbage. There were charred bits of cabbage that added great texture and flavor. The savory red sauce was delicious and was the perfect pairing. The star of the dish were the chunks of halloumi cheese that added the needed texture and salty element.
