I've gone to other nail shops and they tend to want to keep the length long and I have to push them to go shorter but Ivy listened to me right out the gates and got me exactly what I was looking for. I really, really wanted to like this place because it's close to my job. But I can't. My nails look good, that's not the issue. The quality is the problem. I wear acrylics with gel and every single time my nails break. One time i literally had a nail break every other day and I went there for them to fix it and he had the nerve to keep charging me then ask me did I get into a fight. Like rude af. Just because I'm black doesn't mean I broke my nails fighting... I don't know why ya'll think that's funny and OK but it's not! Lost my interest then. I had to go back several times for broken nails before this and I've NEVER had this many nails break in between appointments in my LIFE! I'm 10000% sure it's because of the cheap products. There's NO reason my nails should be breaking like this. He also charges different amounts every single time. I've never been charged the same amount for the same services. Before I come in I ask how much it'll be then I make sure it stays the same when I pay. When I've brought this up to the owner while he was ringing me up he said some BS about a corona fee but he'll remove it this time... GTFOH. Cheap products, makes racist jokes and he tries to get over. I'm done.... BTW: I've had longer nails then this with NO PROBLEM! It's not the length so please don't start with that BS. Love this nail salon! The staff was so sweet and the totally got my nail shape right! My family and I were visiting from California and I didn't get a chance to get my nails before I left . I picked the closest nail salon to the barbershop where my boys were getting a haircut and Suzy Q came up. I arrived just after opening so it was quiet and they were able to get me in for a pedicure and a fill with gel polish . I saw Jordan for my nails and I'm not sure the gentlemen that did my toes but they were super nice and very good. I expressed to Jordan that the I've been trying to get a coffin shape on my nails but not too thick on the polish . She said "I got you" and she listened to my concerns and took her time to get my shape right . They were willing to try different colors too until I arrived at the color I wanted . My husband got a reflexology massage while we waited that he thoroughly enjoyed . The only con I have is the music playlist . It really needs some updating :) maybe something more modern or at least some jazz lol! I didn't take a star off for that because it's not related to my nails but does impact my experience. Typically I don't change my reviews so drastically without a number of bad experiences, but I've been dealing with the repercussions of an atypical SNS nail service I had at Suzy Q for MONTHS. Last summer, after several very pleasant - and affordable! - pedicure experiences here, I decided to try a SNS manicure. (I typically go to either LT Nails in Decatur or D Nails in Alpharetta, if you're familiar with the quality of work done at either of those salons.) The nail tech was very friendly but took over TWO HOURS to finish my nails and in the meantime filed them down just about as far as she possibly could without hitting nerve endings. It's been 9 months and my nails are still not as strong as they were before. I saw the salon manager giving her the stink eye, so she was obviously aware something was going on, but she didn't come over and check. Honestly, I know I should have stopped her but truly didn't realize how bad it was until i went to have the SNS removed professionally and saw with my own eyes how traumatized my nails were. Used to go here all of the time, but sorry to say I will never be going back. I asked for a specific design with gel. I provided a picture and picked out the specific colors I wanted and ended up with something completely different. The colors I had asked for were not used (which I did not realize until it was too late) - I also told her I wanted to use three colors like shown in my example photo but only two were used, and there was no attention to detail paid. My nails ended up looking completely different from the picture that I had shown and I was very upset to spend over $60 on something that I ended up really not liking. You cannot charge that much for a service and provide the customer with something very very different than what they asked for. Along with the nails not coming out well, the wait was also insane. I called in advance to check on appointment availability for two people and was told to come in 30 minutes. I arrived on time with my mom but was then told that we would need to wait another 20 minutes. When we were finally able to sit down, we ended up waiting even longer as other customers were tended to. Once nail techs started doing our nails they kept getting up to help other customers (I get that it is difficult to tend to a lot of people when things are busy but between my mom and I we spent over $100 and I would expect a much better experience for that price tag). I just got simple gel nails and the entire ordeal took 2 hours due to the wait (the actual manicure took about 30-35 mins total). Save your time and money and don't come here. read more

There used to be an older woman there who did a great job. When she left I tried 3 of the other technicians. They never trimmed the cuticles or cut off the dead skin around the nails. After getting a fungus on a few of my toes, I gave them 1 more chance after the fungus had cleared. Again, I had a fungus on some of my nails the next day. My first tech did a very poor job and the manager had to take over! Which caused my stay an extra hour. I really liked the managers technique so I returned two weeks later for a different color. The guy tech did an ok job but it was very sloppy. 10 days later my nails are popping off! No reason should I pay 50-60 dollars for my nails and 10 days later their falling off! I needed to find a salon closer to my apartment, so today I took the less than 5 minute walk to Susie Q's on a Sunday morning and found it to be nice and quiet. I was greeted immediately, given colors to choose from and some soak (sanitary in a one use bag) for my existing SNS manicure. They have so many colors, a lot of salons in the area have limited SNS options or too many of the same type of color, but I was able to find a unique green that I've been looking for ever since seeing something similar on Instagram. After my nails soaked off, I was taken care of by a lovely woman that I wish I caught the name of. She was extremely kind, gentle, and meticulous. Really took her time in making sure my shape was right, the color even, and everything smooth and thin. Even re-did the top coat on 2 nails that were less than perfect. I didn't get a chance to thank her after I washed my hands, but I hope this review finds her and she knows she made me a return customer and I'm SO pleased!! I'm not extremely picky and I will forgive a lot, but I really couldn't find anything I didn't like about my visit. I can't wait to go to work tomorrow and show all the girls! read more

I've had some bad experiences in the area and some mediocre experiences as well, this place is the best salon I've visited in a long time. Very clean, the massage chairs are wonderful (can choose a variety of options- not just that banging away that's uncomfortable, they have a great full kneeling option). They take their time and genuinely care. Nice ambiance and music, not to mention convenient to all the bars and restaurants in the highlands. I honestly cannot say enough about this place after years of visiting Midtown Nails (by whole foods on ponce)- that I feel service has gone down hill and my recent visit to Sugar Coat- way overpriced and bad service). Do yourself a huge favor and have lovely relaxing weekend afternoon or night after work at this place. I've never tried the whole "almond nails" trend but I did here and loved it! The in salon experience was wonderful. My friend and myself tried this place out for her birthday today and got a signature pedicure (which was unbelievably soothing) with cucumber, extra massage time and a scrub that was heavenly. Tia did my friends nails with sns and shaping her own nails to make them look beautiful as if she had a tip (orange). I had a tip put on my nails and wanted a natural almond shape and this was the first time in awhile that the attention to detail my tech, Angela, gave me the most beautiful, symmetrical nails with the perfect shape. She was patient with me when I wanted to change the length to shorter mid way through and created a set of nails I was blown away with. This place is wonderful and the service was exceptionally. This was my first time getting my hands and feet done at the same time! And still being comfortable enough to almost fall asleep. The spa chairs are wonderful and the message settings really got me relaxed (plus the wine LOL). The entire shop is very clean and doesn't have the overwhelming nail polish smell most places do. My nails were not done to satisfaction, my nails started to peel after a couple of days and the polish started to deteriorate quickly. Docking 2 Stars from my original review. I came in at the exact same time and day as last time (Tuesday at 2:30pm). I had a different nail tech this time, by received the same service (SNS on natural nails). First of all, she did not put color on the entire nail. She stopped way above my cuticle making it look like the job was a week old on the very first day I had it. Picture attached is of my nails 6 days in and as you can see, it looks like I'm well overdue for a fresh coat. My nails do not grow fast! This is basically how they looked the day i got them. Second of all, they did not give me the happy hour price this time, even though my appointment was within the happy hour time frame (before 3pm). They charged my card before telling me the price so there was nothing i could do. I won't be back, since the only thing bringing me back was the happy hour price. I could go to morningside nail bar for a better job for that price. In response to the owners comments, I'm not sure why I would be offered the happy hour discount one time and not the next, when I came in at the exact same time and day, for the exact same service. I had a very negative experience today, I went to Suzy Qs and got a pedicure that took 3 hours.. the owner started on my pedicure then left, after 30 minutes a wonderful woman finished my pedicure. Several women were serviced before me who came after me. When it was time to rectify the situation and redeem my trust, the owner did little to correct the fact that I had spent several hours, sitting in cold water waiting for a service to be completed. In response to the owners comments.. All three of us, my boyfriend, my niece and I, were receiving services. Originally, you assigned one person to complete ALL our services. My boyfriends manicure and pedicure service was completed while I was waiting for you to return to complete my service. We watched three women who didn't have an appointment come in and get SNS and another woman come in and get a pedicure while I was sitting in cold water, waiting you to finish the service you started. If you did not want our business, you should have refused to service us. In addition, you didn't take the time to speak to me to apologize for my experience. This is the first I have heard from you, you chose not to speak to me at the salon, but you can speak to me on yelp? That seems rather odd. The discount you were speaking of was 10%, which simply was not acceptable. I sat in a pedicure chair for two hours while your services others, my service should have been comped.You began my service, put cotton on my toes and left it for an hour causing it to stick to my toes.I personal heard you speak to at least 5 women who did not have an appointment. Maybe instead of using this as forum to argue with me, you should attempt to gain my business back. I chose the "Deluxe" pedicure and left incredibly disappointed. The woman that did my pedicure rushed through it and barely spent any time on the massage portion. I thought she was just going to charge me for a regular pedicure because it was really nothing special, but I got charged $42 for a "Deluxe." Nothing about it was deluxe. To add to the disappointing experience, the staff were not friendly and there was a situation that occurred between a staff member and I think her daughter that was very off-putting.
