I never wished I lived in Flagstaff until now. This place is so delicious!! I've had Thai for as long as I can remember, but there was something exceptional about my dish. First off, I'm mostly vegan, and all the way vegetarian AND gluten free and the fact that they can make any dish gluten free automatically gives them extra stars. The egg noodles with vegetables were so so so good. They didn't do anything fancy to it, it was just fantastic.We ordered the veggie egg rolls which we equally good.It was such a relief to eat out and not worry if I'm going to be sick because gluten was in a dish that I didn't know about. We are staying in town and yelped our options. We chose this Thai Restaurant based on some of the reviews and the owners bio. We started with the Tom Yum soup and it was delightful- lots of flavor and fresh veggies. We then had Spicy fried rice with shrimp and the Pad Thai with shrimp both were excellent and the shrimp was cooked to perfection. The restaurant is clean and comfortable.They are doing take out and dine in during these covid times. Our waitress Judy was a gem. Very attentive and helpful. I would highly recommend you stop in if your in town so worth it. Very delicious. Best flavor I have tried in Az. Super romantic and intimate place. Lovely decoration. Everyone so attentive and friendly. I would've given a 5 but later I saw they had charged us an extra appetizer, which could also have been our fault for not checking the bill before paying it. First time here and final thai restaurant in flagstaff to check off the list! Honestly- this was the fastest i had ordered and gotten served at a thai restaurant ever, and we had a group of 9!!! I always get Yellow Curry with tofu (i would add a pic but i actually scraped the plate clean.) The curry was as good as always, not the best curry i've had but it was also more than amazing. Not too crowded and plenty of space at the tables, off one of the main roads in downtown so in a great location. Will come again! read more

Good in a pinch. Normally we go to a different Thai food restaurant in Flagstaff, but decided to try something new today. Swaddee Thai is okay, but we will stick with our other Thai restaurant in the future. The curry felt watered down, the pad Thai was dry and lacking in flavor, and the fried rice tasted like normal white rice. Not to mention classics like yellow curry had hardly any potato's, but lots of bell peppers. However, the time was awesome. Enough food for five adults was ready in 15 minutes. Once again, good in a pinch, but when you're looking for flavorful Thai food this probably isn't your place. read more

We've lived here three years and have tried most of the Thai restaurants. A friend suggested we try Swaddee and I'm so happy she did. The food was delicious! I got the Tom Kha, which is my favorite Thai dish and how I judge all Thai restaurants. It was wonderful. The broth was rich and flavorful, it didn't just taste like canned coconut like a lot of places. My partner got some type of seafood dish and ate every last bite. We finished with dessert, some type of custard sticky rice, also good. Will definitely be going back and bringing friends and family! Would suggest to owner to dim lights around perimeter of room as when I sat in the booth seat the light hit my eyes pretty hard. Easy review on this one. I've ordered massaman Curry from a dozen Thai restaurants and this place is number 12 out of 12. No carrots the sauce was bad too much fatty beef even the potatoes weren't thin sliced. Did I mention that you should reconsider before eating here? read more

Food was OK. Fried rice was soggy which doesn't look like a typical fried rice that we can get an Asian restaurant. It shows that they were using steam rice and they cooked it rather than letting the rice dried a little bit. I can tell you that it is not an authentic Thai. read more

This place was packed on a Saturday night. Luckily the two of us didn't have to wait. I wanted Masaman but with Chx instead of beef. They couldn't accommodate.....so I got Red Curry instead. My fiancé ordered yellow curry and Thom Yum. The soup was great. Nice big mushrooms and a mellow broth. Was perfect for the brisk Flagstaff night. The curry had a serious kick to it. He ordered his mild I ordered mine medium....both tasted more like medium. Which is fine...but the heat can really over power the sweetness in the curry. The chicken in the curry was good quality which is hard to find in a lot of Thai restaurants. Thai iced tea is served in mason jars. Cute. The wait staff was just ok. Hello and Swaddee, My name is Arin, owner and operator of Swaddee Thai in downtown Flagstaff, Arizona. I grew up in a small village in Northern Thailand. From a young age, I have been fascinated by Thailand's culinary varieties and excellence. I am also an avid traveler, visiting different parts of Thailand, Asia, the United States, and Europe for new and exciting culinary concepts. Captivated by opportunity, I moved from Thailand to the United states over 20 years ago to share Thailand's welcoming culture with you. Family owned and operated since 2007. After coming to this restaurant many times, we've never had any issues or bad experiences. We know that during the holiday schedules everyone is hustling and wanting to get home and start there vacations, but we pay money to eat not for free. Put our name on the wait list, took 45 minutes to and hour, walked in several times to ask if our table was ready, waiter say not yet, it was the time the restaurant was 30 minutes into closing, walked in again and said was my names called, waiter said I called your phone number but no answer when they all knew we are standing near the window waiting patiently to be seated. Once we sat down, it took 15 minutes for the waitress to take out order, she was rushing us to order and didn't ask us anything else. The food came out, and it looked so watery, so sweet and so not like Thai food being served. We were hungry and tired from waiting so we ask to take our food togo, I've have never been so disappointed in the service nor the staff until our stay in flagstaff. Not returning anytime soon. read more

My review is based on a mixture of eating in-restaurant and ordering delivery. In-restaurant experience was very good: food was very good, service and atmosphere were both very good. Delivery is a somewhat different story and is treated as an afterthought. I understand that delivery can be tedious. I work in an office where up to 3-4 people might order at one time, making 3-4 separate orders. I know this can be frustrating for delivery drivers. However, there are other components of requesting delivery from them that makes for an unpleasant experience. They often want us to come outside the building to get the food, rather than bringing it in. We work in telecom and we can't all disperse from the building to pick up a delivery order. We work in a public building, which makes a request for us to "come outside" a little unnecessary. Furthermore, food is typically warm, yet congealed when we get it. I appreciate that they deliver, but we are treated as an annoying hassle, and that makes us less likely to order. read more

I hate to even have to repeat these stories but I will. Swadee has the best Thai food in town. They have a great staff. With all this information you would think I would give them a great review. The problem is that I have now gotten hair in my food 3 times!! Let me precurse these stories with the fact that i am blonde and all the hairs found were black. So, obviously not my hair. The first time we went to eat and there was hair in my boyfriends water! The next time, we had order food out, and taken it home to eat. Just as I had finished I realized I had something stuck in my teeth. After tonguing at it for a minute I reached back to pull it out. That's when I realized what it was! Needless to say I got physically ill trying to floss out the pieces of hair. On another occasion, after the first and second, I went Ito dinner with my parents. No hair in my water. No hair in my teeth. Seemingly no hair in my food, right? No. The next day I went to heat up my food was a huge hair. So diners beware!!! read more

This dish was more onions and peppers than pig's ears, but I didn't have to drive as far! The steamed juicy buns were respectable. Not the most refined, but at least they had some soup in them. Good flavor with the sauce, but I wouldn't eat them plain. The hot and sour soup had a decent broth but not enough tofu, black fungus, bamboo shoots, etc. I also didn't realize it wouldn't have pork. Probably wouldn't order that again. The crispy chicken is my favorite: lots of chilies but not too hot, very savory. It looks more dangerous than it is. The decor is relatively clean and well lit, but nothing out of the ordinary, so it's not a special occasion place. I'll go back for lunch again.

Honestly, I don't really want to write this review because it's one of those hidden gems that I sort of want to gatekeep, but I can't be selfish lol. This place has been around since 1985, at a couple locations, but currently they sit on a corner in the Restore shopping center. Waaaaay unassuming from the outside, but fear not, the menu is awesome. I've been here twice. The first time was a few months ago and we missed the lunch specials because of time, so we ordered off the regular menu. I had a huge bowl of war wonton soup filled with fresh chicken and shrimp and veg. These bowls are meant for sharing so I had two more meals from it. I'm also pretty sure I had the gyoza, all of which is made in house. My second visit was yesterday, a Wednesday at lunchtime. The restaurant itself is not huge, approximately 10-ish tables, but most were full. We were greeted promptly with jasmine tea - it was about 85 and humid that day, but I asked for a cup of ice and made some fabulously refreshing jasmine iced tea! Hit the spot! This time I ordered the mu-shu chicken lunch special. There are so many standard hunan options available like Kung Pao, sweet and sour, etc. each lunch comes with your choice of egg drop or hot and sour soup, served with a bowl of crispy wontons, white or fried rice and a mini egg roll. These portions are huge! For anywhere between $14.25-$14.55!!!! The mu-shu comes with a tangy plum sauce and two pancakes, tons of white meat chicken, bok choy, green onions...just so tasty. The chicken fried rice was a massive portion also, served on the same plate, so it all became one eventually. The soup was delicious, light and great amount of egg...the eggroll was typical and I'm not a huge fan, but it worked. But the mains are really just good down home eats. I literally had enough leftovers for another two meals. Hunan is family owned and ran...our server is the son and he is delightful and fun and engaging and thoughtful and just so lovely. Service is unpretentious and welcoming. It's an older building and the interior is what people would say is dated, but you aren't eating here for asthetics! It's off the beaten path off Route 66, but definitely worth going out of the way a bit. Flag has changed a lot in the five years I've been in AZ, and there is basically most fast food chains and other garbage, which is why I tend to love the little mom and pops that have history and longevity. And because it's located in Old Flagstaff you get more authenticity and less crowds and superficial, "trendy" restaurants. I'm old school, I like personable hospitality and good, quality, inexpensive eats. Definitely worth a visit!
