The place is awesome! For 11 ++$ you get a thali for lunch where I had the best lamb meat ever. The Naan was very soft and fresh. The daal makhni was so flavourful! Definitely going back again. Food: 4/5 Service :4/5 Ambience:3/5

A small and hidden gem in the heartland of Surrey, Swagat Indian Restaurant is one restaurant that people will likely not know about, but definitely should! Located at the back of the plaza just behind an animal hospital, its not exactly an obvious location for a restaurant. However, for those who do find this quaint little business, they will be in for a delight. The prices here are extremely competitive and very reasonable. Just to name a few examples - a nicely sized portion of chicken biryani is only $10 while naan is only $1! The restaurant, which appears to be locally owned, seems mostly focused on takeout rather than dining in. Regardless, like other reviewers have said, your meal will be fragrant, delicious and rich in flavour. Some may describe the portions as a bit on the small side (the portions are nicely sized for a lunch meal rather than dinner), but it makes for a great addition add-on - like a mango lassi or dessert. Our waitress, despite being the sole worker on the front line, was attentive and kind, and always came back to fill our water. Overall, if I'm ever back in this part or Surrey - I will be sure to pick up some food here! This restaurant is far from being a fine dining establishment but it definitely has the feeling of eating a nice home cooked meal, especially when you can't cook Indian food yourself!

Hi I was in town recently and was hungry for some Butter Chicken. I found this restaurant near my hotel and went for pickup. I had way more food than anyone person could eat. It was so good and tasty. I loved it. I had it again the next day. I would definitely recommend this place.

I decided to stop by this restaurant to try a few items. I ordered 25 samosas and 2 lbs of veggie pakora for a potluck I was attending. I could not figure out the pricing as I was charged $26.75. The cashier stated samosas were $0.50 each and that veggie pakora was $3.99 a pound when I asked. 25 samosas x $0.50 = $12.50 and 2 lbs x $3.99 = $7.98. I could not figure out the math as I assume it was basic algebra, but I was already out the door and trying to make it to the potluck on time. The samosas did come with dipping sauces. The pakora did not look like 2 lbs when I compare it to other restaurants I have ordered from. The menu pricing seems reasonable. However, I do not understand how they price take out items so would go to other restaurants in the area for take out instead. I usually order appetizer items for parties I attend or hosts. My mistake for not doing the math beforehand and driving during rush hour while trying to get somewhere on time. 3 stars for the food. It tasted alright. The samosa were nicely made and spicy. The pakora consisted of mixed veggies such as onions and some greens.

Quite enjoyed the delicious food and casual ambience. Butter chicken, goat palak, lamb masala, dal makhani, naan bread and rice. Yummy

I was not expecting this restaurant to be as big as it is. The space here is truly massive, and…read morewhile it was mostly empty when we came at around 2:30 - I can picture the hubbub of activity that would be present during peak dinner hours. This does seem to be a highly recommended place to eat Indian food in Surrey. I had the Non-Veg Thali, which isn't on the menu, but the waitress helpfully let us know about. It's very customizable - and I went with garlic naan, rice, two tandoori chicken pieces, lamb vindaloo, and shahi paneer - all in a single plate! Pretty much everything was excellent. I'm not even sure where to start. The garlic naan was fantastic. Soft, buttery, with just a slight hint of garlic and lightly charred on the outside. I could honestly eat this by itself and be satisfied. Garlic naan is a staple of what I order whenever eating Indian food, and this might be the best one I've had. The shahi paneer was also great; tomato-forward, creamy, and the paneer was super soft. The lamb vindaloo was a real standout. It was immensely flavorful - not lacking for spice at all - but you don't just taste capsaicin - you taste all the cumin, cardamom, and garam mixed in with the curry. But the lamb itself is the best part of the curry; it's so tender and juicy. The absolute peak, though, was the tandoori chicken. These were two large dark meat pieces, which were cooked to absolute perfection - retaining so much juice and fat. The skin was a perfect deep orange, seasoned with a ton more spices. It's like eating fried chicken but without the breading, but this was arguably even better. The masala fries were the only thing kind of a miss - as they lacked any masala. The price of the thali was only 23 CAD. That's a pretty insane deal for how much food you get - I was unable to finish everything on my plate despite being very hungry. Honestly two people could share this and be satisfied. When you consider how much sharing and new orders for bread, rice, and curries goes on at your typical Indian restaurant, this is crazy good value. Overall, I would classify this as the best Indian food I've had outside of Asia. 9.5/10

The atmosphere and the restaurant was pleasant the music was in the background where it should be and conversations at tables next to us we couldn't hear which made the dining experience pleasant. Hubby got a glass of the Gehringer Riesling and I had the Pfaff Gewurztraminer which paired perfectly with our meal and the spice level. Started off with the Punjabi style vegetable pakoras which was different as each component was individually battered and deep fried and to be honest was excellent because you get to enjoy each flavor on its own with the tamrin sauce or the mint chutney which were fantastic. Oh and it had the cutest mini Samosas I've ever seen that were yummy. For the mains we went with the classic Butter Chicken medium spice, which was rich, creamy, and the chicken was nice and tender. On to the Rajware Gosht mild, tender Lamb cooked in a cardamom, ginger, pistachio in a cashew nut Curry. Heavy on the cardamon side but the lamb was so tender it melted in your mouth. Last but not least was the Seafood Goan mild, perfectly cooked salmon, white fish and prawns in a beautiful coconut mint Curry. Has a slight sweetness that made you crave more. Perfect for dipping you Butter Garlic Naan bread in. Of course we had a side of plain rice. We were so full we didn't have room for dessert so now we have to go back so we can try the desserts lol. Our waitress Preet was excellent and super attentive making sure we had everything or if we needed anything. Even the floor manager came over to check on us and he was super nice. Overall it was an excellent dinning experience and can't wait to go back while they have their 50% off on food till August 15th and $5 beer and house white wines. Perfect time to try out some more new dishes. Lots of parking in the front of the Sandman as well as in the back .
