This was a solid spot for brunch on a Sunday morning! Our party of 5 arrived around 10am and had no problem getting seated right away at one of their tables outside. They have a whole patio area, as well as some tables on the street, so lots of options! I ordered the chocolate chip pancakes which were very good. Apparently there are several Swami's in the region, but I was in the San Diego region for a weekend trip and my friend suggested we try this Swami's. They have a covered patio as well as sidewalk side outdoor seating. On a sunday brunch rush, they seemed to do a good job of keeping the waitlist moving. I am a sucker for corned beef hash so I ordered that. The food came out pretty quickly and very hot. I ordered a coffee and the staff came by regularly to make sure the cup was never empty. I tried the waffle that my wife ordered, and that was pretty fluffy. I had never been to Carlsbad before, so after brunch we walked around Downtown Carlsbad, and the Swami's was only a block away/walking distance from the beach and seeing the water. I got the huevos rancheros. The Egg I asked to be over medium, In my opinion it's much better this way. The tortillas they used were good quality. And I loved the chile sauce. I wanted to leave 3 stars for my last experience, but I'm leaving 4 because our experience before this one was good. Such a cool restaurant and location! But it didn't make up for everything.. our waiter just couldn't remember what we asked him, coming back with something we didn't ask for or without something we did ask for. We sat outside and I really do not recommend that. We were back to back/side by side with the people waiting in line, constantly bumping into our chairs.. any kind of separator would have helped. That, added to their rush to move the umbrellas and tables around (husband got his head swiped by one) to set them together on an uneven brick patio that wobbles hard enough to spill everyone's drinks, it wasn't a great time. My son ordered the pitaya bowl and it came out 15 min before the rest of our food did, he couldn't wait for everyone else since it would have melted. The rest of the plates also came out at different times, so it really sucked that some of us were eating and some waiting for food while my son was done and just watching Btw, if you've been to the other Swamis location/s, this is not the order up front, grab your food and find a place to sit kind like the others. The lobster benedict was great the first time, not sure why I couldn't find it on the menu this time. But I settled on another benedict this and it was good too! The location wasn't so far off from the beach about a 10-15 mins walk. The menu was overwhelming as it had so much items. I asked what was popular for lunch. The waitress said fish tacos and I thought it was the Baja fish tacos like fried coating but it was mahi fish tacos. Either way I was excited. The flavor lacked so much. I added salt and pepper. The beans tasted from a can and rice was cold. I was disappointed and it was not good at all. The kids quesadilla came on a wheat tortillas I wish it said that on the menu. As healthy as it is it doesn't taste as great. The fries were good. The açaí bowl was soo good. The kids meals were pricey. They priced it at $6 STARTING. Any sides were $3 more. So a pancake with no eggs was extra and the quesadillas with fries was extra. All in all the food was a hit and miss and I was not blown away but the hype. I left feeling not satisfied at the meal I ate and the money that was spent on it. Would not come back to this location personally, but again waitress was nice. read more

Great location right in downtown carlsbad area but parking is a bit of a hit and miss. We almost always order to-go and they are pretty quick despite how busy it usually is. Weekends are very busy first thing in the morning, so definitely arrive early. They have a great menu and really good eggs Benedict! The dirty chai is tasty, as is the seahorse pressed juice. I wish they had more gluten free options for celiacs though. Husband has eaten here multiple times and hasn't gotten sick (mostly sticking to menu options with no wheat). A good place for a cute Sunday brunch with friends! However IMO the vista location has better parking and is nicer looking. read more

I ordered the pitaya mimosa and my friend the classic orange mimosa. For those who like a stronger alcohol taste, the pitaya is refreshing, though you don't taste much of the pitaya, and for those who like sweeter drinks the orange is perfect. Worked out great for my friend and I! I ordered the avocado toast, as I wasn't super hungry, and the portions were just right if you have a smaller stomach.
