This place ROCKS! My boyfriend & I decided to try this place on a whim. When entering the establishment we were warmly greet by the owners who were so kind & welcoming. We ordered the shrimp Po'boys which were delicious. We also decided to get the crawfish etouffet, which was rich , flavorful, and had the right amount of kick! The beignets were fantastic! David was an amazing and funny host. He takes his cooking seriously and wants to satisfy his guests. He noticed I didn't eat the bread he provided (I was so engulfed in the shrimp etoufee, that I forgot), so he brought out naan to try with it. We decided to eat there and he was cracking jokes and telling us stories of his time in new Orleans and how much he enjoys to cook. This is honestly a favorite restaurant of mine and I appreciate his enthusiastic approach to food and people! The food was also amazing. Paid $50 for microwaved food. Everything was microwaved except the chicken. The rice was hard so I could tell it wasn't fresh. The beignets was even cold. Nothing was freshly prepared except the chicken and it looked like it was fried in fish grease. I had to throw almost everything away. I knew I should've left once I heard the microwaves going. I've been mad since I left this establishment. My husband & I went to bed hungry. If you want authenticity Cajun food, come here! Prices here are very reasonable! $15 for a platter of fried seafood - definitely for 2 people or $2 for sides! I really enjoyed the red beans and rice side! So good and seafood gumbo good too. They have real piece of crab in it! Most of all, you must order the beignets here!! Fantastic! I had never eaten at the Swamp Cafe before, but being in the mood for some cajun cuisine, I am happy I did! The fried green tomatoes were delicious and the sauce had the perfect amount of spice. The batter on the fried chicken was not overdone and the chicken was juicy and flavorful! We also tried the gumbo and red beans and rice...they were yummy! However, the jewel of the night was the beignets. They can go head-to-head with any New Orleans cafe on a good day. Normally I don't give a 5 star to restaurants unless they are high paying ones, but this is an exception. Easy to find from the streets, I enjoyed the beignets for only 3.99 which made me feel like I was home again. The po-boys are about 8 inches long with a decent price. The cafe au lait is very good. The gumbo had a good rule base with real seafood, okra and sausage. There is Louisiana hot sauce and Tony's creole seasoning available to help spice up your entree. I gave a five star maily for the TRUE CUSTOMER SERVICE I recieved from the staff and owner, David C. Customer service goes a long way and many restaurants are starting to forget that. David C came to converse with me, my friend and my girls and even gave us a small history of New Orleans food and restaurants. Though I know alot about New Orleans cuisine as I am related to the late Dookie and leah Chase (God bless her), I still enjoyed how well David was with details on taking order and delivering quality food and customer service. He even gave us tips and history on China and their background. We got food, customer service and history. I will definitely go there again. Enjoyable for eating with family, friends, dates, or solo. Amazing and new family owned business!!! As a vegan, I didn't expect to find options at a Cajun restaurant particularly because the cuisine is very centralized around meat dishes. However, I was very pleased with the Tofu Po boy option! The sauces were impeccable and everything was freshly made. Love this place. The owners are from New Orleans and understand the cuisine of that area really well. My kids love the beignets and the Po'boys are fantastic. They buy the best quality meats and seafood and the restaurant is quaint and clean. If you're in the neighborhood or even a bit outside of it, you should definitely check them out. I can't say I'm an expert on Cajun food but my fiancé was born and raised in New Orleans and swears this is authentic. Everything was fresh and made from scratch. The shrimp po boy was excellent, bread was the perfect soft inside and just enough crunch and the shrimp was light and fresh not greasy. Swamp Cafe just opened in the shopping center at the northwest corner of Trinity Mills and the Tollway, next door to Sushi Maku. We had dinner there last night and were blown away by the food. It is 100% authentic cajun. The chef/owner came here after years in New Orleans owning and operating restaurants. He's a very nice man and attentive. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you at your table. We started with the seafood gumbo. It's made with a light color roux. It was chock full of shrimp, cod and okra. The spice was spot on and it tasted amazing. For entrees we shared Jambalaya and Crawfish Etoufee. The Jambalaya had perfectly cooked rice and was full of beef andouille sausage and chicken. I had never had beef andouille before as it is usually made with pork but this was every bit as good. The Crawfish Etouffe was as good as any I've had. Both dishes were seasoned perfectly. The owner brought us a couple of beignets for dessert. Reminded me of Cafe Du Monde. They are open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. read more

Quite honestly, I am happy Swamp Cafe is part of the neighborhood (welcome yall!) I ordered the 9th Ward Seafood combo basket which has fried catfish, oysters and shrimp. I was hesitant on the oysters because they always taste terrible at other places, but these were so fresh, plump and fried perfectly. Completely blew my mind. Catfish coated just right, hot and crispy. My basket came with fries, coleslaw and the BEST hushpuppies I've ever tasted. I could eat an entire dozen! I have no complaints on the food. I chose the Swamp Cafe over the cafe in the same shopping area. At the advice of the employee behind the register I ordered the red beans and rice with Andouille sausage. While they served an ample portion it was flavorless! Looked liked the open some canned beans and Minute rice. No hint of peppers or onions or spice of any kind. I had to douse it with hot sauce to eat it. Sausage was dry as well. To top it off they a tiny plastic fork that I thought would break.
