Had Duke out again, this time to replace a toilet. I had purchased the new toilet and had it shipped to me, then asked Duke to come out and remove the old one and install the new one. Also asked him to replace the valve on the water supply line to the toilet from one of those multi-turn types plumbers seem to keep installing out of habit to a far more reliable ball valve. Between removing the old toilet and installing the new one was obviously the best time to do it. Those multi-turn valves ALWAYS seem to end up leaking after turning them off and back on again after they've been sitting in the on position for years. Water supplies to sinks and toilets don't need a variable flow multi-turn valve. They just need a highly reliable on/off ball valve. Duke does tend to give a slightly high guestimate of the cost, and then charges for only the lesser amount of time (plus materials) that he usually ends up spending. That's a sign of a good business person when dealing with customers. Everyone feels better about getting a little bit high quote and then a lower final invoice -- rather than being given a low-ball quote and a budget over-run invoice. Obviously I'm not trying to claim Duke can always stick 100% to that. Some jobs could certainly end up having a lot of factors he wasn't able to anticipate. But that's at least how Duke prefers to work -- slightly high guestimate but do the job for less than that if possible. I keep turning to Duke when I need plumbing done, and I keep giving him 5 star reviews here on Yelp. I don't really need to say much more than that. read more

Have a problem with drain today called Sweeney plumbing and Duke show up to my place in less than 5 min, he walk to the kitchen and check for problem and went to get his tool, he start to work on the snake to unclog the drain about 15 to 20 min in, he advise me that his snake is to short for the job and he refer me to the other plumbing company name Robert's Plumbing and Rooter, Robert show up in about 10 min and start on the job take about an hour finally the problem is resolve. Duke stay help Robert for the whole time and he didn't charge me for anything. I would recommend Sweeney Plumbing to anyone just because of the service Duke had provided. read more

We operate a large laundromat in Long Beach and on a late Friday afternoon we were notified that our boiler went out. We called our regular repair company and they informed us that the soonest they could come out there was the following Tuesday. We immediately searched Yelp and came across Sweeny Plumbing and called. Duke was terrific again! We came home to a flooded house caused by a broken valve under the kitchen sink. We got the water shut off and the initial mess cleaned up ourselves. I called Duke that night and he was able to come out the next morning to get the problem components replaced and the problem fixed ahead of even hearing from our insurance company adjuster. We still need to deal with the resulting damage and insurance, but are able to turn our water back on with full confidence. Duke definitely deserves 5 stars. I needed a new bathroom faucet installed. I had already purchased the faucet. Every plumber I called either wanted me to pay $59+ for an estimate or quoted me $250 to $300 over the phone. Finally, I logged onto Yelp and found Sweeny Plumbing. I called and spoke to Duke about 9 AM. He gave me a quote for $80 saying it shouldn't take more than an hour. The appointment was made for 1PM, THAT DAY! Around 11 AM he called me back and wanted to know if he could come earlier. He was here in 15 minutes. I was so concerned that he would raise the price because a bolt was missing or something...like they all do. He didn't. He finished just under an hour and even installed my new toilet handle, and the bill was $80. He arrived neat and clean and left my bathroom neat and clean also. Duke came out yesterday to look at a couple of plumbing issues that I had. One was a loose toilet that I thought would have to be reset. He was able to tighten it down and chalk it which solved the problem. The other was a slow hot side faucet. He was able to clean a filter screen out that solved the problem. Both were done quickly and inexpensively. He could have charged to reset a toilet or install a new cartridge that would have been expensive but he did the right thing and solved the issues at a good price for me. Water line sprung a leak on a Saturday. I called several places; those that responded wanted some kind of additional weekend fee just to drive out. Duke Sweeny on the other hand was out within the hour, fixed the leak within minutes with a permanent clamp, and charged a fair price. He's competent and honest. This review is overdue! Had a plumbing issue several months ago-toilets wouldn't flush and sewer/who knows what began to all of a sudden appear and overflow out of our showers/bathtubs. We tried everything-went to Home Depot, bought different snakes & different powerful decloggers and nothing worked to remove whatever was blocking the pipes. My husband was able to get hold of Duke on a Sunday night. It was late so we arranged for him to arrive Monday morning. Before he arrived, wouldn't you know it, the clog just opened right now and everything drained right out. We kept the appointment as we wanted to make sure everything was ok. He checked everything out, told my husband that there were no roots growing/blocking and said that what my husband used takes a good 10 hrs to fully work so it seemed to do the trick and unblock whatever was going on. He didn't even charge us as he said it would be unfair to charge us for what he did. His magnet is on our fridge and we'd recommend this decent, professional person in a heartbeat. read more
