We stumbled into this place bc the Wife wanted a boba tea, and wow, I did not expect all of this. The vibe is immediately different. The place is bright, colorful, really fun energy the second you walk in. They've got a Street Fighter arcade cabinet and a soccer table, so you can talk trash to whoever you came with while sipping your drink. Pretty hard to beat that combo. My wife got the pineapple coconut piña colada slushy and was raving about it the whole time, she used her favorite word: refreshing, describing it as not too sweet, and that it hit the spot just right. Me? I was too busy losing at Street Fighter to focus. The staff were awesome too, friendly & helpful without being overbearing, actually seemed like they enjoyed being there. Just a fun spot. I was going to add a photo because I'm here ALL the time but I realized that I drink them way too fast to have photos of my boba teas! The staff here is the best, kind and helpful! The flavors are amazing, lots of variety, even if you don't love milk teas. Their basic boba is the best I've ever had and I try lots of different boba stores when I'm traveling. We drive a full hour to get here. My daughter happens to be a bubble tea connoisseur, so Sweet Bamboo Boba was high on her list to visit. It did not disappoint! It's so fun and absolutely reasonably priced. Her favorite part is definitely being able to choose and all topping she likes. I like mixing my flavors and using a tiny bit of ice. The machines line one side of the cafe. When you enter, staff will ask if you've been there before. If not, they'll take you through the process and you can taste any flavor you like. They are always helpful and kind. If there's a topping or flavor you'd like that's not in a machine, you just ask and nearly magically it appears in your cup. As I started this, we drive an hour to get here. We've been more times than I'd like to admit, but it's worth. Great product, great staff, cute cafe... it's worth it! read more

I love boba, but this place was a bit overwhelming. When we first got there, we had no idea what to do. We stood around a bit, but thankfully a staff member eventually came over to us to give us a rundown. They explained very briefly how to use the machines, and then let us sample some. It was a bit awkward to sample because the staff had to wait and hand us cups directly to try stuff versus giving us some sample cups and letting us sample on our own. I didn't feel like we could sample too much because of this. We also didn't really get any recommendations or suggestions of combinations. They just kind of let us go free after sampling. Overall, the idea is cool, but I'd probably just go to a regular boba shop next time. read more

Wow. just wow. I'm not usually in it for the make your own desserts but this one was great. You start off by picking your toppings, I know it's toppings and they go on the bottom but you dont want your tea splashing in your face at the end. best part, unlimited toppings for the same price! you could get a full cup of tapioca or red beans for the with no milk tea or a full cup of milk tea with no toppings. Same price! I would recommend going lighter than you think you need. both times I did it, I ended up with way more topping than necessary. After the toppings, you choose your base tea. I chose the Hokkaido milk tea at max sugar. I need that sugar. Then choosing the syrup to go in it. I chose the brown sugar syrup because again, I need that sugar. Finally, you get to put the seal on the top of your cup. I never thought it would be fun to do it myself but the sealing on top of the cup has always fascinated me. The service was excellent. They asked if I needed help and to guide me through the process but I already had my own guide and they were ready to help anybody else who came through the door. It was a bit of a drive to get out here twice in one week but truly worth it. read more

I am grateful that the service let us taste all the teas first. We both got the 0 sugar oolong which tasted pretty good. The mango was very strong and the boba was pretty good textures and not super sweet. They also mentioned on Monday-Thursday you can bring your own switch and play in store. When I saw this on social media, I had to check it out! It's the first time I've heard of DIY boba in the DMV area & it's a such a unique concept so I hope to see this local business grow! We my fiancé & I got there, the owner asked us if we've been there before, which we haven't so he happily showed up how to process worked & even gave us samples of each flavor. I've never met such an attentive owner so it was lovely being attended to & hearing about his favorite flavors. I got a jasmine tea with honeydew & wintermelon syrup (wish I had only chosen one or used the sample cups to add a smaller amount since it was super sweet for me. And I ended up getting a lot of different jellies aside from tapioca, which is usually my favorite part. For about $8 a cup, I thought this was a great deal! They even offer a military discount too which was really nice esp for this area. The place is definitely very decorated & oriented towards kids and families, rather than young adults, as I can see by all the decor & bright colors. Despite this, I still I told my friends about it so I hope they check it out since it was so fun to mix & match! My only feedback is I hope they bring a vegan milk option (ex: just replacing a spout to add a little bit of oat or soy or almond milk) to the drink for people who prefer plant based milk drinks (the milk drinks here use a nondairy creamer but it doesn't appear to be vegan) but otherwise we'll definitely be checking it out again & I hope this local business sticks around! Cute place that is relaxing and family-friendly. I was greeted warmly by Lisa when I went there by myself the first time. She showed me how to work the machines. When I told her that I was looking for a coffee-based bubble tea, she let me try the tapioca balls that have coffee in them. After learning about all the options, I ended up making a cold coffee bubble tea that had their iced coffee, Hokkaido milk, tapioca balls, and the coffee-bursting tapioca balls. It was really delicious. The owner came out to say hi too. He shares that all the ingredients are imported from his native Taiwan. How wonderful! I wish this place was closer to me. I've heard of it, but hadn't had a chance to stop in. The place is interesting -- you walk in and use these little machines to make a boba tea. There are a lot of topping, flavour, and tea options. I tried Butterfly pea tea. It's blue. And good. The staff were quick to help out with recommendations and how everything worked. Super cool concept! Create your own bubble tea combination via dispensers in the wall, just like frozen yogurt. The woman working at the register greeted us when we came in. Since it was our first time visiting, she was kind enough to explain to us how the system worked, with the tea, syrup, and topping machines. There is even a sealer once you are finished to put the traditional boba lid on your cup. I decided to do the jasmine milk tea base with half strawberry half mango syrup, and then added strawberry and mango jelly with light ice. I really liked that I could decide my own sweetness and add just the right amount of ice for me. I highly suggest grabbing a straw to mix it and do a quick taste test before you seal the cup in case you want to add a little more of something. The atmosphere is a plus, with board games and mini soccer you can play with your feet and your friends while you drink your boba. The prices are pretty standard compared to a typical bubble tea place. We'll be back! read more

The online ordering is also confusing. If you pick a specific drink to pickup, I'm not sure why I would need to pick (additional?) toppings and syrups. Awesome first Boba experience!!! My kids wanted to try boba but weren't sure what they wanted. So glad we found this awesome do it yourself experience. Since we are novices the highly knowledgeable staff walked us through the whole process. We picked some desserts to go with our treat. Everything was delicious and so fresh. The kids are already planning our next visit. The atmosphere is really fun! There are a very diverse selection of board games, arcade style games and even tables with a soccer game underneath. There are also Switch docks available so you can bring your own devices and play on their monitors (during select hours). I highly recommend this innovative new concept to anyone who is new to boba, wants to fully customize their own drink and wants a helpful staff and fun experience.
