    Birthday cake

I ordered a birthday cake from Sweet Bites for this past weekend. The phone call was very pleasant and they were helpful on what icing and what designs could work together. I was able to order a retro cake with The Amazing Digital Circus colors. When we got it I was so please to see it and my daughter loved it. Wen got a marble vanilla cake and it was really good. Not overtly sweet and not under sweeten. The cake was soft too and not drying. The icing was a cheese cream type of frosting and the middle filling was whip cream and a berry mix and all of it was good and good quality. Get your cakes from locally owned business and support them. I think it is woman and family owned. Support them!

Sweet Bites Bakery & Brunch opened a year ago @San Pablo & Addison St. corner at the bottom of an high rise housing building. Was seated promptly upon entering. Some seating outside. Roomful of seating inside. Didn't see any menu. Didn't ask. Saw baked items. Ordered some cake slices. Offerings: Fried Chicken. Small bites, bit bites, salads, Sandwiches, coffee, cake slices, cookies... Bites: German Chocolate Cake (6.75) -not European type. Has brown dollop chocolate cream on top. Layer of chocolate flavored glaze with coconut shredds within. -alternating layers of moist brown cake & cream. Strawberry Heaven (7.25) -light airy layers of white cake resembling chiffon cake with some kind of flavoring . Layer of cream with fresh strawberry slices. -lite sugar content. Layer of cream on top with slice of strawberry. Tiramisu (7.25) -light brownish layers with a cream layer. Not too sweet. Had light brown cream layer on top with a sprinkling of chocolate shavings. Not Euro style. 4.5 stars worthy:YMMV Qualtity: good Quantity: reasonable. Fried Chicken is an option next time.

Wow, what a hidden gem! I had no idea this amazing spot existed. While in the area I wanted to grab a quick espresso and came upon Sweet Bites Bakery & Brunch. Such a sweet family (three generations!) who work here :) I ordered a few treats, all homemade, for the family. Mini cupcakes and small square slices of cake including Raspberry Cream, Coconut Custard, and 3 Leches Cookies n Cream. They do custom cakes and omg the cutest mini cakes (see picture for size). They also execute everything fresh and baked with love. Such an adorable spot ~ besides yummy sweets, they also offer savory items. Upon asking a few questions, I heard they're known for their fried chicken! From fried chicken and waffles, a 2pc/3pc/4pc with sides, and the fried chicken sandwich, this is such a fun menu item you don't casually walk into often. They offer small bites, salads, other sandos including a burger, other brunch items including skillets and pull-apart french toast, and last but certainly not least..boozy items like michelada flights and bubbly! I honestly can't wait already to return for the fried chicken, to try more desserts, and of course, partake in their fun boozy menu on the weekend! Appreciate the amazing service, and can't wait to hear more about your lovely family biz!

Sweet Bites Bakery never disappoints me! Their fresh cream strawberry cake is absolutely perfect--light, fresh, and not overly sweet. Every visit is a wonderful experience because the owner is so kind and welcoming, and her staff are equally friendly and amazing. All of the pastries are delicious and definitely worth trying. Wishing Sweet Bites Bakery continued success and many more years of thriving. Thank you for always creating such wonderful cakes &treats! :D

The cake was moist , the strawberry Filling is so delicious eveyone is asking who made it . It's our 3rd time to order here . Highly recommended!

Purchased my 60th Birthday cake from them. Told them my color scheme and they were able to add design to my cake I absolutely loved! Delivery was on time and cake arrived in perfect condition. Would refer to family and friends.

Love this shop!!! Family owned and operated with sweet people and good food and drinks! perfect for a regular visit! I ordered my first cake from here for my partners birthday and it was sooooo pretty! It tasted perfect and looked amazing too! The owner walked me through how to get the flavor profile my partner wanted and when I tried it, it was exactly what we wanted and all my friends and most importantly my partner loved and enjoyed it!!! So visually appealing and also tasted great. Truly, will always order my cakes from here for every occasion!

Excellent bakery with unique pastry! I ate a chocolate tres leches cake, cause I'd never seen that before and it was so good. Light, fluffy, sweet but not too sweet, moist but not soggy. Absolutely loved it.

Three layer, 12" inch round, red velvet with cream cheese frosting.

Ordered a 12" round red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting with minimal instructions. They asked about birthday girl age and favorite colors and it came out beautifully decorated. My daughter LOVED it. They added glitter and sparkle without me even asking. Note the 12" they said serves 16-20, and we had about 20 people and we only ate half. Next time I will definitely size down! Cake had 3 layers and was $95. Most importantly, it was so moist and delicious!! The online ordering was easy - they followed up the next morning to confirm details (opportunity to ask questions and adjust as needed) and we didn't pay until we picked up.

Absolutely loved this place! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with such warmth, and friendly vibes. This place is very clean, inviting, and just the kind of spot you think about when wanting to grab some coffee and a treat. Whether you're pulling out your laptop to get some work done, catching up with a friend over coffee, grabbing a bite to eat, or even treating yourself to a mimosa (yes, please ), this café has it all. The customer service was top tier...the staff was super attentive and kind without being overbearing. I can't forget to note the atmosphere!! Cozy yet modern, with thoughtful touches that make it feel both productive and relaxing. Total hidden gem. I'll definitely be coming back again the next time I'm in Berkeley

I stopped by Sweet Bites on a Sunday because I wanted to pick up some baked goods as a "Thank you" for someone. My initial pick of bakery was closed that day but I'm so glad Yelp suggested this one nearby. I ordered 4 slices of cake. The recipient was very happy with it. I received many happy comments the next day about how much the family enjoyed it. To add: the lady taking the order had amazing customer service.

This bakery is owned by a lovely mother daughter team (with the granddaughter helping out when not in school). Their desserts are amazing! I love getting cakes from them for our staff parties and birthday celebrations. They even take the time to make the look beautiful!

Great customer service that matches how wonderful their sweets are. The place for a custom cake!

Sometimes it's good to try something different and a place with some interesting character and characters. I usually get deli sandwiches which have deli meats but this place has fried chicken sandwiches . So I was craving a sandwich so I headed to Crave Subs in Downtown Berkeley next to BART station. They have lots of sandwiches available on the menu. On a Summer stroll getting some sun in Downtown Berkeley I landed at Crave Subs. Inside it's like you stepped into an ice cream parlor with a comic book shop and arcade and a deli all at the same time. You will see sandwiches on the menu called the Pikachu, Ned Flanders, and Bart Simpson. You will see Chewbacca fries along with the Spider-Man fries and the vegan Sailormoon fries. I got the Captain Boom Halal Fried Chicken, Boom Boom Sauce, Cheddar Cheese and Crave Sauce on a roll. It was tasty and a bit crunchy and had lots of flavor. It's one of the best Halal chicken sandwiches I had. If you crave a fried chicken sandwich then Crave Subs is the spot. It will "cost "you an extra 50 cents if you want to "floss" with extra drip "sauce" to show off on social media and during OSL my social media feed was stuck in the" Land of OZ" If you want great fried chicken sandwich you don't need to visit KFC or meet the chicken"commanders" like the late "Colonel Sanders" just get a Captain Boom with "Halal chicken standards" or grab a Pikachu sandwich or a turkey sandwich called the "Ned Flanders "

One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants reduce the guality or quantity of their meal to cut costs while charging premium prices. I will say I didn't mind paying a few dollars more for their subs in the past. I went there today for the first time in a couple of years, ordered a regular size basic ruben sandwich (no add-ons) and was ok paying nearly $18 dollars for just the sandwich until they handed it to me. what I got was a small 6" sub. When did their subs shrink?? in this economy we are all struggling. I get it, things cost more but Craves' owner is not doing his patrons a service by charging them premiums while cutting back on the meals. If you're ok paying that much for a shrunken sub, more power to you. I l, however, will not be going back there.

We found it very tasty, but paying over $25 for this on DoorDash--certainly not worth the price even though we really enjoyed it. The spicy chicken parm sandwiches were not good. The chicken breast was flabby, and came across like it was one of those frozen cooked Tyson jobs. I would be very surprised if they actually breaded chicken breast, fried it, and made the sandwich with that. It was mushy, and the breading was like paste on the chicken. Pretty awful. They charge extra for sauce, which is a little much, given that we paid $21 for each sandwich. But we figured out pretty quickly why they do this: there was hardly any sauce on the sandwiches. And precious little cheese. We each ate half of our sandwich and figured we doctor the leftovers up the next day with a jar of Rao's and a bag of shredded Italian cheese. That helped, but nothing could save that chicken. The meatballs. We paid $15 for four, and we had high hopes, but they were so mushy that they fell apart in the sauce, and I couldn't tell what was sauce and what was meatballs. The only flavor that came across was fennel. Why any meatball should be so fennel-forward strikes me as bizarre. We got what we thought were pretty basic things, and they were fails. If an Italian place can't make a decent chicken parm sandwich nor a decent meatball, that says something. If you go, try the pinsa.

Awhile back, I tried to bring as much business to Star Meat as I could because 1. it's a small business and 2. it's inside Star Grocery (which I LOVE, so it's convenient). When I would go there, there would often be 2 or 3 people behind the counter and oftentimes I would be the only customer. I felt like I had to stand there forever before anyone even acknowledged I existed. Each person would be busy doing something, but there was no "I'll be with you in 2 minutes." Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.
