Food was pretty delicious and a great casual place to go if you are looking for a place to eat in Fenway. I ordered the tray of pulled chicken with mac 'n cheese and broccoli cheese casserole. Chicken was amazing with the BBQ and spicy sauce. The mac 'n cheese was super creamy and I tried it with some BBQ sauce too--so good! The food quality was great, and the music/vibes were nice for a Friday night! I saw some reviews before coming here that the food was too greasy, but I did not find the chicken too greasy at all. I feel like it was very much regular Texas barbecue style food. My only complaint was that some items felt overpriced... My boyfriend ordered the two meat option of brisket and pulled pork in the big cheeks tray. We were told by the waiter that he would be getting full portions of two meats with the big cheeks tray option. However, when his tray came, the serving size of each meat was less than half of what I got for the tray of pulled chicken (total meat on the plate combined was almost less than the chicken). I think maybe it was because we came to eat kind if late (around 8:45), they were running out of food for his dish? I don't think that option was very worth it, but the brisket was delicious and highly recommended you try it. Overall, good tasting food, would come back. It's not all the time that I am craving meat and very savory things but this sure hits the spot when that craving comes around! Came on a Friday night and it was decently full but we were still able to be quickly seated at a communal table without having to share our table! I thought the food was excellent. We started off with the biscuits, which are a must -- large, warm, buttery to the max. The pulled pork was solid and I appreciated that it wasn't covered in sauce. There is sauce on the table you can add. The farm salad was actually substantive (not your typical boring and low nutrition iceberg lettuce salad that most restaurants serve) with arugula, berries, and nuts etc. I really enjoyed the broccoli cheddar casserole sides and the collard greens were a great way to add more veggies into the meal. Great experience and amazing food! Came here on a Saturday evening for dinner and the place was pretty busy, but we were seated rather quickly. The service was nice and fast with placing our order as well as getting us water. The biscuits are an absolute must get! They never fail to disappoint with an amazing texture, portion size, and served with the butter, they're absolutely delicious. I've come here multiple times and I get the biscuits everytime - they're the highlight of my night for sure. The trays are a really good deal honestly - tons of food for a decent price. A little pricey, but the quality makes up for it honestly. I love the variety of meats they have ( I usually get pork belly and beef brisket ) as well as the good amount of sides they offer. I love mac n cheese with bbq so I always get that and then their coleslaw is pretty good as well. Honestly any of their sides are worth it though! Then their sauce they have at the table completes the meal perfectly - their spicy isn't too hot and adds just enough of a kick for the meat! Overall, Sweet Cheeks hasn't disappointed me yet. My friend and I stopped by this place as we were driving through the Fenway area and we felt instantly welcomed with the wonderful smell of barbecue in the air. The space was filling up and it was a bit more on the louder side. We sat at the bar and were warmly greeted by the bartender. We ordered a couple cocktails - myself the Angry Cheeks (with whiskey) and my friend the Birds of a Feather IPA. Both were quite delicious and brought out efficiently. We ordered a bucket of biscuits to get started and when I say they were the best biscuits I've ever had, that is no exaggeration. They were incredibly soft, warm, and flaky. Add in the butter and it was literal perfection. We were both in awe - no wonder the biscuits are world-class! I ordered the BBQ brisket tray with mac and cheese and potato salad on the side. The brisket was flavorful and melted perfectly in the mouth. There were some chunks of fat included that took up a lot of space; other than that, a solid portion is provided. The sides were nothing to brag about, they were fine. Meanwhile, my friend ordered the pulled pork tray with collards greens and coleslaw. I booked on OpenTable and it only secured an outdoor table for me which was so uncomfortable on a 45 degree day. This experience detracted heavily from the food and drinks I had. The location has a solid menu with great food and drink options. We ordered the chicken tender plate, half mild half spicy with a side of Mac and cheese. We also got the salt and pepper potatoes. Both were delicious initially but froze very quickly while sitting outside. I didn't get to enjoy the full meal because of this. I was going to the baseball game so I could take the food to go to salvage it after. The chicken tenders were spiced with a dry seasoning and tasted great with the tiny barbecue sauces on the side. The Mac and cheese was pretty good - I like the crunchy top and would have liked a more al dente noodle. The salt and pepper potatoes were solid and came with a trio of dipping sauces which was nice. We also got some shots (green tea) which tasted great but were awkward to drink because they came in sauce containers. I'd recommend this spot if you want some solid barbecue and some drinks. I used to frequent Sweet Cheeks often but hadn't been since the beginning of the pandemic. Our party of 4 was able to walk in and get a table immediately. The restaurant was mostly full and as laid back as it was before. Our server was great, he gave us plenty of time to make up our minds about drinks and food. The biscuits and honey butter were as gloriously thick as I remembered and I also got a tray with brisket, pulled pork, beans and the cheddar broccoli casserole. The pulled pork had extra seasoning on top which made it overly salty, but the vinegary sauce on the table helped balance it out. The brisket was a tad dry towards the edges but had a good mix of fattiness and lean. The bbq meats were 3/5, the sides and biscuits were a 4/5 and the service was 5/5 read more

I was so excited to try this place, and I should have checked the menu before I went. I went with my daughter, and she does not eat pork, and that was a challenge because the majority of their menu is port. They do have other options like chicken and beef, but it's like brisket and fried chicken, which my daughter I was not feeling it. So I told the leader that I wanted a side of collard greens and I would be closing up my bill because I explain the situation and then she kept trying to convince us to stay which made my daughter highly uncomfortable because she had already made up her mind that she wanted to leave and she can see what's on the menu we didn't need the waitress repeating it to us creating an awkward moment. After that, she was a little dismissive and rude, which was weird to me because I didn't do anything for her. She wasn't blatantly like saying anything wrong, but her behavior was definitely unwarranted like she threw the boxes on the table rather than passing it to us like she was just kind of weird. I tipped her 25%, though. I hope that when she looks at that, she feels bad about how she then treated us after we said we were going to leave. Not to say 25% under the dollar bill, there's a lot, but it was a lot more than she deserved for how she treated us after we said we were going to leave. It's really cold in there, too. The restaurant itself is kind of gloomy, like one half is dark, one half is really lit, the bathrooms are really dark, and Dolly Parton is everywhere, which is kind of cute. There's a little tattoo machine in there like the quarter tattoo machines. Be ready to fight for parking because though there is street parking by meter, it is Fenway, and it is hard to find parking. I didn't like the collard greens they were like garlic buttery kind of I don't know. I can't even describe what I was saying, but it wasn't for me. What stole the show was the biscuits I got a bucket of four and oh my goodness it was so freaking delicious I may go back there just to keep eating the biscuits not to mention the butter that butter must have been made from a Heavenly cow cuz yum. read more

Then the back of the house gets a kitchen appreciation fee , 5 % added-to the bill before tax. It is on the menu but no one says it. I found out it is optional! $2.00 uncharge if you want spicy honey or any mustard. Dessert was in a jar, bland banana pudding with one piece of banana. Key lime pie is good but crust is not great. Maybe were understaffed because bathroom was out of soap and it was hard to get the check to pay , once you gave credit card , no one ran it. I've been here a few times and it continues to be one of my favorite BBQ experiences around Boston! To be honest there's not too much competition and frankly it's not the same as truly authentic southern barbecue, BUT it's conveniently located, has a fun atmosphere, and I've always had a good experience! I tried the fried chicken sandwich most recently and really enjoyed the housemade BBQ sauce options they provided in COVID-safe preportioned containers. The mac and cheese has been and continues to be one of my favorites, and although I didn't go for the biscuits this time around since I got the sandwich but they are another fan favorite for sure! My boyfriend tried the ribs-- the meat was good and cooked well, thought that the dry rub could have had a little more flavor but again, the extra sauces brought to our table paired really well! The broccoli casserole was cheesy and delicious. Another one of my favorite things about Sweet Cheeks is that I always have leftovers to take home! Staff at Sweet Cheeks Q was amazing! We went for a Friday lunch with our pups. Patio was perfectly shaded with great people watching! The biscuits are a must! The honey butter and jam just melt in your mouth. We inhaled our brisket before I could get a photo but that was top notch as well. This place serves the most disgusting fatty low quality meat I've ever eaten. And I mean ever. I have definitely had some suspect chicken nuggets in my life but this still takes the cake. Yesterday I got a hot sausage tray with an additional jalapeño hot sausage and rib. Biting into these sausages was like biting into a tube of loosely organized fat and meat particles. It was the fattiest greasiest nastiest bites of meat I've ever had in my entire life. The Mac and cheese was amazing I'll give them that. But I'm there for the meats! I have followed many Boston-based chefs who grow and thrive on TV shows like food network and Top Chef. I love that I live locally and can try their restaurants in person. So I was excited to try Chef Tiffani Faison's take on BBQ. (we had been to her Tiger Mama's a few years back and were blown away!) It was a special night for us, but we wanted to keep it low-key and thought a BBQ joint would be perfect for dinner. Before I go further, please know that I DID speak to the server directly that evening and reached out to the Chef via social media (no response). I am one to be direct when things don't go well. Decor: as you can see from the pics, this is a fun, fun place, exactly what I expected from a bbq joint. It was awesome. Love the LGBTQ pride throughout. Dinner: We opted to start with two biscuits, honey butter, and the okra with jalapeno ranch. The biscuits were DIVINE, all that hype is spot on. Top it with that yummy smooth, silky butter, and you can just go home there happy as a clam. Hubby wanted a bucket of it. The okra was eh. It was whole, which isn't typical, but I went for it anyway, always up to try new twists on classics. The breading was not cornmeal, I don't think, lightly seasoned, but with okra in big chunks, you get that slimy inside, and I was not impressed. The dip was delish tho! Remember that it's $3 to add; they don't tell you that up front, but it is clear on the menu. For dinner, we each got a tray with sliced prime brisket and pork belly. Both types of meat were succulent, juicy, tender, well seasoned, and smoky. I could go on! They were a hit! and plenty of them too. WE shared. For the scoops (sides) we got to choose 4 between the trays. Farm salad, potato salad, collard greens, and beans. The farm salad was my fave, the dressing with the mix of sauteed Brussel sprouts, fresh greens, and crunchy hazelnuts were perfect. Potato salad and collards were great and tasty. Collards could have used a touch more vinegar. The beans were a Lil one note and flat to me, but still cooked well. Overall we loved the food. And mainly for that is why they are getting the 3 stars. Drinks: I got the Dollywood, and hubby got some sweat tea whiskey drink both were good, not watered down, and not strong. Just right on a hot summer day. Service: Oh dear, I get so sad when I have to comment on this. If the food weren't as good as it was, we would never be back. And if you follow me, you know that means it was BAD! First, we made reservations for 7, got there at 650, no problem; the place was pretty empty, we were seated, and some random server/busser brought us water. Then we waited and waited and waited. I was staring down at the hostess station when another server noticed, and someone came to get a drink order. Great. But then, we waited and waited. sigh. Finally, our for sure server, Joseph, came by for an order. We put in both the apps and trays. He was pleasurable at this point. We didn't have to wait long for any food. But then.....we see him running from table to table and NEVER comes to check on us. I had decided I wanted another drink, maybe even dessert, because they looked good. But he never came by again. The worst part is, an hour after eating, Joseph just comes and drops the bill on the table. Um, what?!?!? I was upfront and said you know, I feel like we were ignored tonight. WE would have ordered more stuff, but now I just want out. He made some excuses and said sorry. But no offer of manager or anything. Very disappointing. Have wanted to try this place for a while since I've been a Chef Faison fan for years. It did not disappoint! Service, drinks and food were all outstanding. We had a cocktail (spiked cider) and a beer and started with a bucket of the lightest, buttery biscuits. We each had the bbq chopped brisket. The best sides were the beans, potato salad and collard greens. And the pickles on the side cut through the richness of the beef. I got the baby tray with brisket and ribs, and the ribs were amazing! The brisket was good too, but if I go back I think I'll order just ribs. The chicken finger platter was actually portioned and price well. Unfortunately the Nashville hot, was pretty mild. The brisket platter is expensive for two slices and two sides. The brisket and watermelon were very good, but the collard greens were sour/vinegary. They do charge a 5% kitchen tax, although the service was fast and the place was relatively empty/quiet (Sunday lunch). I would potentially go back and just order brisket by the pound. read more

Pulled chicken was fine. Soggy bun that fell apart. 6 out of 10. Mac and cheese was an epic fail. No cheese flavor whatsoever. 0 out of 10. Throw in the bar was filled with dirty bar towels, the guy next to me left a mess as we sat down that was never cleaned up. The womens rest room had no soap. I can't believe I'm saying this but I think their sides are better than their meats. Between two people we ordered the fat cheeks tray ($26) with pulled chicken, sliced brisket, and pork ribs. We paid a little extra ($1 or so) to substitute the cold scoop for a hot scoop, and got the mac and cheese and the BBQ beans. We also got the bucket of biscuits ($14) which came with four huge biscuits and a super tasty honey butter. They have house-made sauces at each table which go great with the food. They have a BBQ sauce, a vinegar, and a very spicy habanero sauce. I loved combining the BBQ sauce with the habanero. The biscuits were incredible! Super buttery and flaky, and they went well with everything. They can also be ordered individually at $4 a biscuit but I don't know if it comes with the honey butter. The BBQ beans had an awesome flavor and the texture was good. Not too soft but still cooked thoroughly. The mac and cheese was my favorite! It came with a super crispy and fragrant topping that pulled everything together. Even if it didn't have the crispy topping, the sauce was very cheesy and creamy. I felt that the pulled chicken was a bit too salty and was a little dry. The meat on the ribs fell beautifully off of the bone, but was on the plainer side so I dipped it in a lot of sauce. The brisket was tender and juicy-- definitely my favorite out of the three. The fat cheeks tray and bucket of biscuits ended up being way too much food for the two of us! We were stuffed and took the leftovers to go. Ok, this is my 172nd review of a BBQ joint, and Sweet Cheek's 1643rd review and I could have sworn I wrote a review for this place already but it aint here so whatever I'll just jump into it. Usually I do a long detailed review but this place don't need any more criticism as it is. Hands down the best BBQ in Boston, can't deny that. The Ribs are smoked perfectly and not slathered with sauce. Brisket melts in the mouth with a great dark rub. Love the home made biscuits and the home made strawberry jam is a game changer. Pulled pork was seasoned really well and not loaded with a bunch of fatty bits dangling all over the place. They had sauces but I forgot to get them, sure they're good. The sides were lacking a little for me. Mac and cheese was just that regular cheesy goop over boiled pasta, quite common so nothing to get too upset over. BBQ beans had a lot going on, peppers, hamburg or sausage, few different beans, main problem was the bean gravy was super liquid, more like a stew, I like my beans with a good thick gravy that sticks to the scoop of beans. And I tried the broccoli cheddar casserole stuff ... it was okay, but tasted like something you'd expect the lazy sibling who's trying to be a different person to show up at Thanksgiving with. Then they had the giant fluffer nutter cookie. This thing is impossible to eat. Not exactly what I was expecting but it was a molasses peanut butter sugar cookies with a layer of peanut butter in-between. Cookie was a but hard, peanut butter was dripping everywhere, I'd eat it in pieces with some milk next time. read more
