Oh. My. That pretty much sums up how I feel about Sweet Cow. They have some of my favorite ice cream ever. What makes it so good? They've figured out a way to make the ice cream rich and creamy but also not over-the-top sweet. To date, I've tried quite a few things on their menu: my go to, the chocolate chip cookie dough, is one you cannot go wrong with; the super delicious vanilla has a name that is self-explanatory (perfect for with cake or pie); the chocolate peanut butter pretzel is a perfect mix of all the named ingredients; and the butter pecan was really, really tasty. Besides being delicious, I've been really impressed with how Sweet Cow has handled COVID-19. They've got an online ordering system set-up so that you don't have to (and actually can't) order in-person at the store. Plug in their website to your phone and go order what you want there. You can have it waiting for you (in a fridge, of course) when you get there. This place rocks -- will definitely be there a lot more this summer! read more

While at the farmers market, we had an appetite for ice cream, luckily Sweet Cow was nearby. Approaching, I noticed the place was packed with a high school sports team and I became a bit worried that the wait was going to be unbearable. To my surprise the line moved at an impressive pace. Before I was able to decide on the flavor of my shake, we were front center at the cashier. The staff is obviously organized and very friendly. I ordered the Dutch Chocolate Shake and it was amazing, smooth with an intense flavor of chocolate and not overly sweet. I could taste the quality of real dairy. The team vacated and we sat and the shakes were delivered to us. Even after an hour, my palate is still left with the sweet taste of cow. It's was just bad. Melted and refrozen? Whatever it was- not good. I've emailed and messaged the website so they are aware- no response. This is copied from my google review but I felt it needed to be shared in another place. I used to be the biggest fan of sweet cow until my wedding. I ordered 65 ice cream sandwiches 2 weeks in advance. I asked how to have them best transported and got all the necessary equipment (including dry ice). Day of my wedding, my friends went to go get the order. Well the order sheet never printed or processed the order. My friends had to call me to see what my order was and Sweet Cow made them re-order and pay out of pocket after I already paid. and paid out of pocket for my same order figuring when I wasn't busy, I could be reimbursed. Fast forward, I called the store, Spencer answered and was so apologetic (thank you!) but had Alex call me back. That's where things went wrong. She was rude and mean. Implying that I was trying to get 65 free sandwiches when I clearly explained I only wanted reimbursement for my order which was not fulfilled. She wanted my friends credit card number to verify that they got their ice cream sandwiches to which I said that's irrelevant. They were separate customers that made an order which was fulfill. My order was not. She eventually said she'd refund me but I felt horrible she accused me and made the process so difficult. I have never been so poorly treated just for a refund for a order I did NOT get. I didn't even ask for a discount for my trouble or a free ice cream sandwich on our anniversary. Avoid Alex as she clearly doesn't know how to deal with customers especially customer who purchase large orders. But I don't recommend anyone ordering if they want to be treated like a thief; especially after their wedding order was admittedly not fulfilled. Customer service is important. If you leave customers feeling cheated and feeling like they didn't do something right when you even admitted the order was there "it just wasn't printed and that's so weird" but then make me feel like a criminal... shame on you. Lactose intolerant so take my review with a grain of salt. They do have 1-3 vegan flavors and I tried both while I was around. Vibe: The place is a small local shop that has like 4-6 seats and some outdoor areas to stand around in. -Located in LoHi off 32nd which is pretty central to bars, food, etc Food: Cant remember the second flavor I had but I opted for the chocolate raspberry. I normally dont mind non-traditional milk ice creams but this one fell a bit short (hence 3/5) because the texture was much like a gelato and felt off. I am 73 years old and have been going to Sweet Cow since they opened loving their root beer floats. I finally got my two covid shots so after a year of being sequestered I decided a root beer float would be great in celebration. Standing on the sidewalk ordering my trusted root beer float they would not take cash even though i explained I got rid of all my credit cards and I had always paid cash and that i was a loyal customer. So the server said they would comp me. Then the manager chimed in and got on my case and said they weren't going to comp me and dont come back. I was having a nice day till then. My favorite ice cream place ever! But I only go when they have Strawberry Banana Golden Oreo. It is by far the best flavor ever. I wish it was one of the flavors they always have. There are so many great things to say about Sweet Cow that I don't even know where to start. The flavor selection and rotation that they keep is amazing and always keeps me coming back for more, not to mention their friendly and super outgoing staff. My favorite flavor to date is the Fruity Pebbles! I absolutely love the vanilla ice cream with real Fruity Pebbles mixed into it, it gives it such a fruity and distinguished taste. Mix this with a pretzel cone, and you'll be wanting to come back daily. They also have a delicious "Sammie" which is just an ice cream sandwich. My favorite combo is coffee ice cream in-between two triple chocolate cookies! Sweet Cow has been around for a while and has always treated me right. Great ice cream, like the concept, store is soooo small though. It's great to walk to after having dinner at one of the nearby restaurants, so keep that in mind. They have amazing flavors and the quality is solid. The last time I had a milkshake with the coffee flavored ice cream and let me tell ya folks...WORTH EVERY PENNY! As I said, my only complaint is the size of the ship. If you are looking for a quick in and out and away you go- kinda joint- then this is your spot! Update: I went back because I was in the area with friends and we wanted a sweet treat. We got a strawberry milkshake, Dutch chocolate malt, and ice cream sandwich. They were all absolutely amazing!!! The strawberry shake tastes like fresh picked strawberry and cold crisp milk blended together. The purest of flavors. The malt was exactly what a malt should taste like. That's hard to come by. Even though malts are hard to mess up because you pretty much just add malt powder to a milk shake, it can be messed up and often is by so many places. If you're old fashion like me, and love malts, please look no further and head to Sweet Cow! Their ice cream sandwich are good and they know it. Therefore, they sell them in a display case on the side for you to uncontroably buy 5 more to take home with you. My friend has been talking nonstop about this place for ages and we decided to finally try this place out and it was as yummy as she made it out to be! The line was super long which only meant that the ice cream must be out of this world. I'm glad the wait was worth it. Everyone I know except me raves about sweet cow. And reasonably so, their regular icecream is great! However, sweet cow fails to woo me, as I'm lactose intolerant. The dairy free options are crumbly, and noticeably dairy free (tasting of coconut, minorly chalky, etc.) It makes me sad because I know there's a better way (because I've had better vegan icecream). We ended up at Sweet Cow after a competitor's line was way too long. I love the atmosphere and set-up at Sweet Cow, I love their little novelties and mascot. However that's where my love ended. The staff... super friendly, but the product, not quite as good or as large of servings as the competition but offered at similar prices. It made me chuckle as I ordered the single scoop and all I could think was what must the "tiny" look like? Perhaps that's what we had when we requested our samples.... All in all Sweet Cow is a great alternative if you don't want to wait and have a hankering for "premium" and unique flavors but if you'd like value, like us, stick with the competition. read more
