What a joke! My son & I Walked in for lunch at 12:30 with 2 other tables eating. Waited 10 minutes just to have order taken(place was empty) & then another 35 minutes to get food. Owners sat in back eating and even had a meeting with one of the cooks while we waited for our food. My son ordered the chicken tenders & fries. For $10 he received 3 tenders which actually were only a larger chicken nugget. The french fries were not cooked all the way through. I order fish tacos which was a fried piece of fish topped with a bed of wet red cabbage. I took two bites and it tasted like the frozen fish was completely cooked. Really disappointed! Never again if you can't get good service and food when slow I can't imagine what their like when it's busy. read more

Saturday Night was busy with lots of large parties which is understandable that the staff was busy, however over 10 minutes and not even a hello. We sat 10 minutes later to find out no pork chops, no chicken, no special fish, which again understandable but disappointed. We order the stuffed basa with spinach and mash potatoes my husband order a MR ribeye with mash and roasted corn. Our dinners arrived to find no mash and rice was substituted w/o communicating this , also the MR steak was well. We were hungry so didn't send it back. We have a little theater group who goes to the Broadway Theater on Saturday afternoon during our subscription series. We Usually go to Sweet Lula's for lunch. The food and service has always been excellent. The Theater has been closed for over a year and continues to be because of the Pandemic. Our group decided to go over to Pittman to try out Sweet Lula's Brunch menu. The menu, the food and the waiter were ALL outstanding. We drove over from Philadelphia. We were so thrilled we did. I went here with 9 friends for lunch. We called our order in as we only had 45 minutes to enjoy and it was ready when we got there. Eight of nine of us ordered salad with either grilled chicken or shrimp. The crab cake sandwich came with fries and was very good. The salads were unbelievably small portions for $15. I'm sorry to say, I've never been to a more dysfunctional restaurant. We were all so excited to go out to eat and over 2 hrs later 2 out of 10 of our group had dinner but all of us paid for the meals that we ordered and either didn't get, got but it wasn't what was ordered or was cold and uneatable. "Sweet" Lula was rude and the opposite of apologetic, she actually said "don't come back then" at that point we didn't even think it was an option...you couldn't pay us enough to come back Lula...but thanks anyway. Would not recommend. We ended up, after paying an outrageous amount for what food we did get, didn't get and weren't able to eat. Getting fast food. Not so sweet. Should be Weird and Rude Lula's. This was our first time in town, but sorry to say Sweet Lula's left a sour impression. We waited at the hostess stand for the hostess to return. When she did not we asked another employee if we could sit at the bar. The employee said we could and kindly arranged a spot for us. When the hostess discovered we had been seated at the bar during her extended absence, she bluntly and rudely informed us that since we didn't have reservations we would need to wait for the groups of people who DID have reservations to order first. Informing customers that your kitchen is incapable of managing its work, and that certain customers need to wait for other customers to order first? That was the weird part. Needless to say, the delivery and content of that message left something to be desired and we left. 4 of us ate here recently before a show at the Broadway theater and it was a wonderful experience. We were greeted by Lula who was just lovely. The waitress, Rose, made sure to talk about the specials but ALSO gave us some good tips about timing the dishes so we weren't late to the show. And then, something we had NOT expected, was when Lula stepped up to a mic up front and with some iPhone back up music, belted out some wonderful tunes. The whole atmosphere, the vibe, the food, the folks, all wonderful. The selection of tunes she serenaded us with, including some really fun 60's British tunes (Downtown, etc.) were great fun. How that woman hosts and greets and sings all at the same time was a wonder!! AND, the food was of course quite good. The fried Brussels sprouts, delicate, light and yummy. My duck breast delicious. Everyone else's salads quite good. Had a great time and will hopefully be back again soon! read more

Went here the same night as a play at the theater across the street. We were seated fairly quickly at a nice table outside. Ordered the special and then waited 10m for water, another 10m for bread. Looked around and noticed that people who arrived after us already had their meals. Inquired with the waitress who assured us the meal would be right out. About 20m later we get the meal and its lukewarm. We're hungry so we decide to eat it anyway - not into making scenes. Come to find the wife's food tastes like the cap fell off the salt while they were seasoning it. Our waitress never comes back so we sent it back with another waitress and are told it will be taken off. We end up sharing my meal - a steak and potatoes which was a good portion and flavorful. We felt satisfied with the night despite a few hiccups. That is until we receive the bill with the meal we sent back still on it. The waitress actually points to the meal on the bill and laughs before she runs back in the restaurant. We went inside to speak to someone and the manager/owner proceeds to tell us that because we tried the meal (that is 1 out of 5 ravioli) that we have to pay for it. We politely refused and she and the waitress proceed to argue us down that "the meal was supposed to taste like that" and "nobody else complained". Eventually the entire restaurant is staring because of all the yelling they are doing. So we ask again, with the attention of the entire restaurant if the meal that was both lukewarm and too salty can be removed. Only then does the manager agree to take it off the menu while cursing at us under her breath. read more

So disappointed. Place was empty at dinner time, should have known there was a reason for that. We got an appetizer - "fried" mashed potato balls. While this was tasty, they were obviously a frozen item and fried waaaay before we ordered it. We got steaks for the entree, mine was about 80% fat. Got carrots and string beans on the side, they were bland, and there was only two string beans. Nothing seemed fresh or particularly tasty. The cook/owner spent most of the time running down the street to their new Mexican restaurant. If you are looking for a place that offers more than the usual burger this is definitely a place to try. This was my third experience at Sweet Lula's and it did not disappoint! The new England clam chowder and mashed potatoes were homemade and some of the best I've ever had. The ribeye I ordered was a perfect medium rare and was quite large for the price. We had a birthday reservation for my niece who was turning 30 years old ...party of 10! We were seated in the "upstairs" area...so completely ignored by the staff! We waited over an hour to finally get our first course which was short 2 wedge salads. We complained and was told they ran out of wedge salads. Lula was unprofessional an rude, she blamed a bad waitress and dismissed us like children! We left after 2 hours with no entrees served. Went to Sweet Lulas Sat night before Miss Saigon show. Got there at 6:20 but barely made the 8:00 show with no time for dessert. Caesar salad took about a half hour to come out and had probably been made 20 minutes prior as the lettuce was quite soggy with the dressing. Ordered the Dakota's Surf and Turf with the Filet Mignon medium and it was practically bleeding it was so rare. A Charming, Cozy and Warm Restaurant that really exceeded my expectations. The Service was impeccable! Just a glance to our server and they were right there! My son, who's a vegetarian was greeted by the Chef and was offered a variety of Vegetarian dishes that he offered to cook for him. The atmosphere was Festive and Cozy. The Knowledgeable Server rattled off the specials of the day without hesitating. To start, we had the Beer Battered Broccoli-flower which was tasty and more than enough for 3! My son ordered the Mushroom Ravioli in his choice of sauce which happened to be Pesto. I ordered one of the daily specials, Seared Venison with Sherri ed Cherries, Mashed Potato's and Haricot Verts. The Meal was cooked PERFECTLY! Fresh baked bread was also served. To Finished I had the Raspberry Creme Brulee which was perfectly sweetened. For a $100.00 Yearly fee you can lease a storage bin for your favorite Spirits to be on hand when ever you dine there. This place is a Winner! I'm sorry to say it, but this place is a huge disappointment. i wanted this place to be great because its my hometown, but its not. it is severely overpriced. If everything was about $10 less, I would expect the quality I received. I have gone there about 5 times over the past 4 years and I kick myself after every time. last meal i had, the crab cakes were over cooked. the veggies were mush and omg...the singing was so inappropriately loud. the owner does have a nice voice, but I am not there to feed her ego as she parades around to all the tables with the mic. its just too much. I would rather listen to "our gang" that's being projected on the wall. My party couldn't even hear each other speak. if they are going to charge those prices, they need to do better with the food. If you are used to good restaurants, you will be disappointed. read more

So went to Lulas for lunch for a birthday. The atmosphere was very interesting. There were only three tables seated, and they had old Bugs Bunny cartoons playing on the large screen. Didn't get too excited about that. So knowing its lunch time, you would think the waitress would pick it up a notch knowing people only have so much time. Didn't work out that way. She was extreamly slow and forgetful. This is were they lost me. But it gets worse. Order a burger med-rare, and it comes out more then well done and dry. Not to mention it left me asking "Where's the beef?". The waitress offered me a free desert, but really she should have taken the burger off my bill. Overall, may try it again someday, but Im not impressed with the food or service. Better luck next time. read more

It pains me to give them a 3 because their food is really good but yesterday I took my family to lunch there before a matinee at the Broadway and it was also the food truck festival. There was only one server who was also answering the phone and acting as host. Every single thing we got we had to ask for. I feel bad for the server he was trying to handle all the tables but how do you have one non kitchen staff person on a Saturday? Then to add insult to injury they automatically added 20% to our bill because there were 6 of us. I typically tip 20% but that is my decision and while I would have generously tipped the server because our bad service was not his fault how do you have the gaul to force me to pay for that for bad service. Amazing!! WE have been waiting to go for months and finally we hosted a dinner party this past Friday night!! The decor is "perfect" for that theatre ambiance! All the servers are gorgeous and super sweet!! The owners are both there working and also their kids too!! Their daughter was our server and their son was our server's assistant! The food was so good!! The beet salad was fresh! The brussel sprout appetizer was to die for! They have an artichoke appetizer that leaves you wanting more!! Our whole table ordered specials of the day and no one was disappointed! There was 6 of us in the party and the bill came to only $250!! We were pleased with everything! There is a definite toss-up at this restaurant as to whether the service or the food is a the bottom of the heap! Service--we asked for bread and told there was not any left only to see other tables get bread after we sat down. She was finally able to find some bread but that required another ten minute. We waited over thirty minutes for appetizers and then another twenty minutes for dinner. Food--I have to admit that I was intrigued with Avocado Crab Fritter. The avocado was soft and juicy however the crab was so over-seasoned that it ruined what should have been an excellent appetizer. The same thing with the Shrimp and Scallop platter--it was as if they dumped an entire bottle of hot sauce on the plate. This is one place you should skip if you are in Pitman! read more

I really enjoy the food here but the service just ruined everything. we were sat promptly and courtesy by the hostess (who was the hardest worker there) once seated, this is were it went all bad. we waited over 20 minutes for someone to greet our table and place an order. when I asked questions in regards to the menu (like ur soup of the day) the waitress seemed like I was bothering her. Next we ordered the strip medium and the duck. the duck is amazing and wonderful. I can not say enough about this meal but my husband's steak was well done. I asked the busboy to get our waitress. Finally at our table she takes the steak. she brings back a ribeye steak medium. she says we are out of strip and here's a ribeye. so now he is eating the wrong bc of the chef mistake. Next when we get the bill, nothing was taken off the bill and we were charged for the more expensive steak. once brought to the waitress attention once again she was annoyed. she adjusted the bill by the difference of the lesser steak they served bc they cooked it wrong thanks for the BAD service .... love the food but it's not worth coming in for it if I have to deal with that server again (btw I believe it was the owners daughter) read more

Went for lunch. Cute little byob in Pitman. Menu is small but food was excellent. Great ambiance, and I love the eclectic plates/cups. I shared a crab cake sandwich and a brie quesadilla with my table. The quesadilla was served with a lime honey dipping sauce and was delicious. The crab cake was AWESOME. I'm a chef so I'm VERY critical and often disappointed with restaurant food, and I've had a lot of crab cakes in my day, but this was really flavorful, and I was surprised at how good it was. When you go to Sweet Lulas, it's a full dining experience. My husband and I love visiting this restaurant and enjoying all the different food that they have to offer. If you go for midweek dinner, it's $20 for soup, salad, and main course. The service can occasionally be slow but when you bring a bottle of wine and make a night out of dining, it's a non-issue. We love chatting with the chef and he always makes it a point to circulate around the room. If you're into learning about food prep, make sure you go to one of the demonstrations they occasionally offer! It's worth it. read more

I found this place through yelp and almost didn't go due to the rating, but the menu looked interesting so I took a chance. When I got there I was a little nervous as there was only one couple eating. However, I'm glad I took the chance. I had lunch and the soup special was Thai cauliflower - fantastic!
