This is a very old style place with mixed cuisine style menu. many people take the orders to go, but the place was about 1/3 full when we went with a party of 8. We ordered a bunch of different dishes but the highlights were Pineapple fried rice service in a half pineapple, Pad Thai noodles, the honey walnut chicken, mango chicken and lastly the Cumin Lamb. We did order Roti Parata, which was OK, but wasn't high in my book since many places give you multiple dipping sauces, and the tea leaf salad was also ok but some of of the nuts were danger danger hard so be-careful biting down and the rest were OK but didn't stand out. Servers were nice and refilled and checked in often. Just FYI we will tagged with a 18% tip changed to our bill automatically, I would have given 20 for the service they provided but just a heads up for larger parties. Around 7pm, the restaurant is relatively full, but not too the point of being packed or uncomfortable. Tom Kha Soup with Seafood || $13.95 Mild coconut soup with Thai chili paste, lemongrass, zucchini, baby corn, mushrooms, carrots, and mixed seafood. The soup itself has a creamy mouthfeel with just a bite from the Thai spices. I enjoyed this appetizer. Sweet and Sour Fish Fillet || $13.95 Perfectly crisp fish fillets coated with a tangy sweet & sour sauce. The fillets come paired with sauteed onions, pineapples, and green bell peppers. Pad Thai with Chicken || $11.95 A solid classic. Sweet Mango does a great job with their pad thai. The noodles have a nice chew without being too soft or overcooked. They mix in the beansprouts and scrambled eggs, but the crushed peanuts are put on the side. The sauce isn't as tangy or tropical, so I doubt that real tamarinds are used. I was craving pad see ew, and this spot was close by. It hit the spot, I got it with beef and the beef was so flavorful! I like how the egg in that dish is nice and fluffy too. The 5-spice chicken flavor was good, but it's not the best dish to enjoy as takeout. The box is taped shut and the steam made the chicken soggy. Mango sticky rice is also delicious! I thought I got skimped on the mangoes, they're such tiny pieces! But I looked at previous pics of people enjoying it inside the restaurant and the portion looks the same. Great pineapple fried rice in the pineapple, tasty pad thai, and the mango chicken was really good. If I were to order for myself again I'd go pad thai next time. I order take out on Christmas from here. It was pretty busy for Christmas when I went to pick up my food. The food was good but the take out portion was pretty small compared to other Chinese food places I have been to. When I called in my order, they seemed busy but the last I spoke with was pretty rude and sounded like she was just trying to get me off the phone. Not only was she rude but she didn't tell me the total and hung up. Then when I called to confirm the pick up time which took an hour, she rudely told me "I told you already, 8:30pm". We stumbled along this place by distance and the reviews. We were about to fly out and wanted some good Asian food. The pics and reviews don't do this place justice! I eat out a LOT and this is my new favorite spot. I can honestly say the best Chinese food I've had. The service was amazing. I can't believe the place isn't packed. Their decor is cute and restrooms are clean. We started with the crispy tofu. I am normally not a fan of it but my boyfriend wanted to try it and I'm so glad he did. It was crunchy and the sauce that accompanied it was tasty. We shared the Kung pao and general tso and there was so many umami moments. We also had jasmine tea and that was herby and delicious. The combination fried rice was not an after thought. I could have just eaten that and been great. They go out of their way to make sure everything tastes so good and it shows. This is long overdue. We lived in Willow Glen until May of this year. We found Sweet Mango on one of our many walks through the area. Beyond a doubt, the food is amazing! During covid the staff was gracious, called you by name and knew our specific preferences for certain dishes (my wife is vegetarian). We saw great reviews and decided to give it a try, when our food arrived we immediately dug in I started with the general chicken I've had some good tso chicken in my life and I'm sad to say this was not up there at all, the chicken was dry and hard like jerky the breading was soggy and lacked lots of flavors specially for something that's been drowned in sauce I do not recommend this dish. Visited this restaurant for dinner on a Saturday evening. We were promptly seated even though we didn't have a reservation. They gave the kids special plastic kids plates and plastic cutlery which was much appreciated! The food was good but not exceptional. We ordered through Door Dash for lunch and got the Samosa, their Pad Thai and Pad se Ew and ALL were so bland! The flavors is really lacking here as well as the noddles are over cooked and mushy. The most disappointing was the undercooked potatoes in the samosa and just tasted like frozen peas got tossed in with the cubed potatoes and wrapped in wonton skin...what is this? oh my gosh the worst lunch take out this whole Covid time. After 9 years knowing this place, we gave it a try. Restaurant was totally empty, so walking in felt wrong. Service was great. Dining room was clean, but the rest was a mess. Saw the kitchen when walking by, oily and a bit dirty. Food came quick, but it's bad. I am not a great cook but my cooking is better. The Thai food didn't taste Thai at all. We were in the neighborhood and we decided to eat @ Sweet Mango for the first time. Unfortunately we don't live in the area, otherwise this restaurant would be our new go to restaurant. We've only eaten Burmese food twice and we were famished so we stuck to what we're familiar with... Chinese To our amazement, Roti Prata, Chicken Satay and Pad Thai was on the menu. TL;DR - Entirely disappointed in the high Yelp ratings for this place! Maybe it's the lack of Asian food in this neighborhood that makes the subpar food considered good, but I'd avoid this if you want authentic Burmese/Thai in San Jose. I went here with my family after searching for best pineapple fried rice in San Jose. It was close-ish to home but wow was it disappointing. First, the parking lot is small and limited, which makes it tricky to get in and out. Second, the waitress/owners were mostly Chinese? I kept asking for a specific dish - Pad Krapow Gai (spicy basil chicken) - and she said they don't have it and that they don't have certain Thai foods but they're listed as a Thai establishment?? I feel like their advertising needs to be more consistent and maybe their menu sectioned from "Thai"/"Chinese"/"Burmese" - quotations because I'm not if this is at all an authentic place to eat. Third, their food was just really bad. For example, their Tom Yum soup was too viscose/thick, their lamb cumin dish was chewy, and their pineapple fried rice was lacking any flavor (but yay for cashews). I have visited this restaurant in the past and forgot to write a review so I am writing one now before I forget .. Sweet Mango is located a few blocks from the main strip of Willow Glen, which makes parking and walking to it much faster. We were greeted very nicely when we walked in and seated pretty quickly since we showed up right when they opened and one of the reasons we picked this location was the had inside dining, even though it had a large amount of orders to go traffic. Our waitress was super nice and since all this crazy locked down occured stayed on top of our tables needs which was great. We ordered a few different items, I had the Chicken and Mango, but I really wish they had the same sauce for the Chicken and fruit dinner, that would have been great. Our little table filled up fast so if you can try to get a 4 top so you can spread out the dishes for fellow group members to try thing and share. Over all the food was really good and I am so glad we had a table inside, so the food seems so much better when it fresh on a plate. We dropped into Sweet Mango for some lunch while visiting a friend and chose this restaurant because it was the closest. For a bit of backstory, I'd visited Sweet Mango many years before at their other location and not really enjoyed my meal, but assumed it was either a chain or a new location so I didnt think much of trying it out again. The seating area for take-away at this Sweet Mango was very useful, and the service was friendly - but my main issue was the quality of the meal. It just wasn't as high as I would have liked and felt overly messy. The sizzling rice soup was tasty, but everything else we ordered was just so-so. I absolutely love Sween Mango. The place isn't fancy, but the food is terrific and the prices are reasonable. I like the venue because you don't feel overly crowded and it is relatively quiet. The food is they standard thai cuisine but it is always hot and fresh. Parking is easy and it is very close to Lincoln Avenue so you can walk around before or after. Weekday lunches are especially good and reasonably priced. I highly recommend Sweet Mango. read more

Definitely one of the best pad see ew I've ever had. It's so good that it's literally the only thing I ever get here. You get such a large portion that you can basically have two different meals, the eggs are fluffy and plentiful, and there's actually a good amount of meat! Picked up takeout from here the other day and got the coconut (aka yellow) chicken curry with rice, and the pad see ew with vegetables. Portions are very generous and the price is good. The service is super friendly as well. My husband really loved the coconut curry and it really hit the spot for him. Some friends and I had lunch here recently after church. We had a big group and the staff took care of us quickly and wanted to make sure we had enough room. They even moved a smaller party to another part of the restaurant to make room for everyone. It was a weekend so we could not get the lunch specials with soup and salad but we had plenty of food so that was fine. We ordered a variety of dishes and everyone liked what they ordered.
