This restaurant was recommended by a hotel employee when I was staying in the area. I highly recommend if staying at one of the hotels in this town! It's right down the street from all of them, near the Target and Home Goods. They also have a very easy to use website for online ordering, which is great if you're not familiar with the menu enough to call over the phone. I ordered two sushi rolls and a Thai noodle dish Pad See Yu. (No I did not eat it all at once, stop judging!) I wanted to try a little both of multiple cuisines, since I'm always wary of restaurants that do more than one. It's hard to be good at more than one type! The sushi was pretty good. I just got two basic rolls, an eel avocado, and a spicy salmon. Both tasted fresh, and very good portions for the low price of $5.75 each. My veggie noodle dish I didn't end up eating until like 2 days later. The flavors were pretty good, but a few of the noodles didn't last as well over a few days so I'll have to try this again in person. It's a very comforting dish, that I recommend if you want to try something different but not too too adventurous. My food was ready when I arrived, and I paid in person quickly, and was on my way. Although I have ordered take-out several times before and was most pleased, today I decided to partake in the dining in experience for a late lunch/early dinner. I was not to be disappointed. I started off with the Miso soup, avocado salad, and then the special Spider roll, later subcumming to the fried ice cream screaming urge to end the meal. Beauty in presentation, quality, and pure deliciousness in each dish. The miso soup was the perfect starter, followed by sliced avocado on a bed of romaine with the ginger dressing on the side. Refreshing and so good! The Spider rolls were such a creative view to behold and so scrumptious to eat! Cannot wait to try all the different specialty rolls in future visits. How can one go wrong with fried ice cream? Soooo satisfying! Lovely décor, beautiful wooden and tiled bar area. A dab of fresh flowers on each table. They offer some really, really inviting desserts. Sweet Mango is a hidden gem for sure. I did not even know that this place existed. I went with my husbands family to celebrate a graduation. It was a great choice! The place itself has plenty of seating but still maintains an intimate feel. Considering there were 9 of us, the service was prompt and very friendly. There were a few confusions (e.g. drinks not arriving to the table after asking for them). The food is delicious and the menu is large--perhaps a bit too large because it's hard to choose! That being said, the large menu allows everyone in your group to choose something to fit dietary needs (or not!) Everyone at the table got something different from sushi to hibachi to vegetable tempura. I heard 0 complaints about the food. I had the orange chicken and it was fantastic. So fresh with huge chunks of juicy orange. Big portion and very satisfying. I would have a hard time getting something different next time! The crab rangoon was excellent as well. This review is a long time overdue. Sweet Mango is my favorite go-to sushi restaurant. They have an excellent hardworking and friendly staff and the food is as beautiful as it is tasty. I always smile at the intricate pictures they create in the sauce when you order a roll for dining-in. Service is quick and I've never had a single complaint about the food or service. I do badly wanted to like this restaurant. It got good reviews and was recommended to us from a local. It started off great. The server was attentive but it went downhill from there. We waited as we watched other tables get there sushi. It took about an hour after we got our appetizer for our sushi to come and only our first order for my husband and I arrived. We had to wait another 10 minutes for the order for my children. And we had to flag the server down so she could take our sushi order. When we finally got to eat, the sushi was just ok. It did not wow me. I think a score of 3 is a bit too generous for the service but the food was just average so I will stick with the 3. We are not from around here, but if we are in the area again, we will definitely be trying a different venue. In our servers defense, she was the only server working so I did leave her a good tip. She gave us some hot sake for free but the overall experience was not great. I know it was not her fault that the sushi took so long and she was working very hard, but it did not leave a great first impression. I know it is hard to find help these days, hence the score of 3 rather than 2. If the sushi has been great or the service better, I may have given a 4. So, this place was pretty refreshing. My fiance and I have been trying to find a nice authentic Japanese restaurant for a while now since going to one in Pennsylvania and we decided to try this place. The scene in nice outside, and the outside if the restaurant is very nice too. Appealing outside and inside is always a good sign. We were sat down fast, we came in before the rush im pretty sure. We started with miso soup but I personally didnt like it. Too fishy unfortunately. But my fiance ate his and mine. Also the seaweed was still too stiff. Then we got sushi and that was the best sushi I've had in a really long ass time. If you're looking for bomb sushi, this is the place. Then we both got yakisoba and unfortunately they didnt even have kewpie (which is a Japanese mayonaise). The chicken was like hibachi chicken and it tasted like chicken broth? Not authentic and we were really let down. Then I got the mango sorbet and it was grayish. But basically also kind of a let down. The service was a little disjointed wait a few times to order appetizers and we had to ask for more water but I think that was because they were so busy with diners and take out orders. We were in the area (which is a rarity) and I was craving some good Thai food so we found this place on Yelp and decided to give it a try! Walking in, I could immediately tell that this is a place that can begin to feel like family. So many servers seemed to be familiar with the guests, and were all very friends and personable. I opted for my go-to Thai dish: green curry. I tend to like my curry with less vegetables than they serve but that is just personal preference. The taste, as well as the presentation were all A+. Mike was feeling a bit under the weather and decided to stick it simple with Tom Yum soup and one sushi roll. That Tom Yum Soup was AMAZING. I feel some some places just serve you mushrooms with broth but this soup was sooooo good. I may have to make the drive up to Southington just to get more of this soup! The sushi here is very very good. The customer service is very very bad. I had been going to sweet mango for a while and always thought their customer service was a little lacking but they make great sushi so it was worth it. Now the service has gotten really bad and it's no longer worth the trip. In ordering takeout over the past couple months I have had to wait an additional 30 min past the time they told me my food would be ready. The first time I thought it was a fluke. By the third time we waited an extra 15 m past our pick up Time and still spent 20 min standing in the entrance waiting to pick up our order. On top of that the staff is not great at communicating with you what is going on. They just ask for your name and take your payment then disappear. You have no idea how long you will be standing there and because you have already paid you feel kind of trapped. In their defense they seem to always be busy so I assume the problem is because they have more orders then they can handle. But it's no longer worth the aggravation. read more
