I often frequent the Stanford Shopping Center and always see this restaurant hustling and bustling. I finally decided to give it a chance. We went at the perfect time before the dinner rush and were greeted by our waiter Dylan. He was quick to answer our questions and offered great recommendations. I got the buffalo chicken sandwich with air fried fries and a pepperoni pizza. I also got a iced matcha horchata. Buffalo chicken sandwich tasted great with not an overpowering vinegar taste but also had that wonderful classic Buffalo wings flavor. The bread was very soft and the coleslaw was actually pretty good. I enjoyed the freshness of it. The fries were very dry and hard to be honest, I'll probably get a salad instead of those next time. The pepperoni pizza was a thin crust and not overly oily and cooked to perfection. No burnt crust or lava temperature cheese. Every bite was a joy. The iced matcha horchata was pretty much just a matcha latte lol. I did not taste any horchata flavoring at all. Not bad if it was just labeled a matcha latte but I probably won't get it again. Overall my visit was enjoyed and I look forward to exploring what the other items on the menu are like. Despite the shortcomings of the fries and the lack of horchata flavoring in my horchata drink I would still say my meal was rather enjoyable. On top of that our server Dylan was outstanding. We came here for a very late lunch on a weekday. The lunch crowd was gone and we were seated immediately. After the waiter gave us water, he took quite a few minutes to return for our order, which is odd since the place is not busy. I ordered the spicy panang curry bowl and the others ordered a real burger and a veggie burger. The price of any bowls does not include protein, which will add $5.50 to $10 depending on which protein. I ordered a cold tea because I don't want alcohol or any sweet mocktails. The waiter pushes other fruity and sparkling drinks but I did not want anything sugary. The food arrived nicely together. Notice that the curry bowl doesn't look like in their online menu. The black rice has the consistency of barley but more chewy. The curry is light and not too spicy. I did not get a taste of the burgers but they look delicious. All the food is pretty good since we emptied our plates. The only strange thing was our glass of water had no ice. I thought they ran out after the lunch crowd but at every other table, their water glass have ice. In general a nice place to get healthy food whether meat or veggie. I had a disappointing experience ordering takeout from True Food Kitchen in Palo Alto on September 7, 2026. I had planned to order a pizza for my kid, but the pizzas had disappeared from their ordering website and their app. At the same time, they were available at the True Food Kitchen in Walnut Creek, but that was 37 miles away. Maybe their oven had broken or the pizzas were out at Palo Alto? Instead, I got an All-American burger, which my kid said was too plain and too salty at the same time. It definitely wasn't worth $19.95. The kale salad that I got for myself for $14.50 didn't seem worth it either. The portion was fairly small, the dressing was too oily, and the flavor was pretty bland. We did enjoy the watermelon & halloumi salad. The watermelon was ripe, and, unlike the kale salad, it was very flavorful. But pickup didn't go well either. The parking lot was very full, and the spot that I finally found was on the other side of the lot. Unfortunately, True Food Kitchen doesn't have any dedicated parking spots for pickup, even though the store next door does. When I finally arrived at the crowded pickup counter, my food was ready, but the server disappeared for a long time to get my tea order. While I waited for the tea, I noticed that pizzas were being made and served to dine-in guests. When he returned, I asked the server why the pizzas weren't available to order, and he said that's probably because they had ran out of dough earlier. I kept on passing by this TFK while doing my steps in Stanford. Our group was in the shopping center and decided to find a bar with a wide screen TV that was airing the Niners game that Sunday. And what a coincidence that we chanced upon SF legend Steve Young waiting for his to-go order. He was so friendly and accommodated us and other fans for a few photos. After that invigorating incident, our large group of nine was easily accommodated near the bar area broadcasting said NFL game. We mostly got appetizers, shareable plates and a few brews (coffee and beers). We ordered the Spinach and Sourdough Mushroom Pizza and the True Crisp'd™ Air-Fried French Fries with peri-peri ketchup. That latter dish was easily the highlight. For not being deep fried, the potatoes were flavorful and the dip added a great pop. The restaurant itself is very spacious with great upscale interiors and the staff were nice and attentive. I'd go back for main plates next time. read more

Came here on a recommendation with a group looking to grab a quick bite after a run. We wanted a lighter, healthier bite so this seemed like the perfect spot. My friend and I split the all American burger with fries, which I paired with a kale juice. I rarely have pressed juice but the kale juice was refreshing, delicious, and sweet but not too much. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and it was juicy and flavorful. I noticed a lot of veggie options on the menu that I'd like to try in the future. I also wanted to give a shoutout to our amazing server, Lisa with the long black hair! We were a big group but she was incredibly attentive, friendly, and hospitable. It took a long time for someone to come to our table, take our order, and bring out the food. We were told the kitchen was backed up, but the host continued seating guests continuously, which likely didn't help the situation. We ordered the Edamame Dumplings, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Seasonal Market Salad, and a POM Spritz mocktail. The Edamame Dumplings were disappointing--bland, lacking flavor, and served cold. The Seasonal Market Salad and Buffalo Chicken Sandwich tasted good overall, but the sandwich had a surprisingly small portion of chicken (basically one tender), which felt underwhelming for the price. The fries on the side were also nothing special. The biggest letdown was the POM Spritz mocktail. It had almost no pomegranate flavor and tasted more like plain soda water. I now remember why I hadn't come back here for 8 years -- overpriced, poor service (at least upon arrival and for getting seated -- our waiter was very nice), and food is ok. Food wise they have a variety of options and the edamame hummus and dumplings are good apps, I do enjoy the ancient grains bowl with protein, and the kids menu has a few basic options including pizza, pasta and air fried chicken. I would say the food is ok but not worth the price, especially with smaller portion sizes. Maybe the pizza is a fairly safe option. If you come for convenience, use the inkind app to save 25%. True Food Kitchen is a restaurant I've heard about for years, but it took me a while to finally give it a try. The first thing I noticed was how big and spacious the restaurant is. It's also really easy to get to since it's on the outside of the mall. One thing that stood out was that it took about 10 minutes before someone came by with water and took our order. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was noticeable. The menu has a lot of options without feeling overwhelming. I also thought it was pretty cool that they air fry their chicken, even though I didn't end up ordering it. I went with the turkey burger, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was juicy, flavorful, and not dry at all. I also ordered the Prickly Pear Refresher, which definitely lived up to its name. It was light and refreshing. Was looking for a place to eat in the mall that was healthy and had a variety of food and we stumbled upon this. We asked how long the wait was and they said 20-25 minutes if we didn't have a reservation. There were lots of empty seats inside and some outside so we just asked if we could sit at the bar? Hostess said we could but wait times for food could be the same. We found bar top seating as a couple of tables with about 9 seats and about 4 stools at the bar were available. A waiter came and asked if we wanted any drinks to start but we just wanted water. About 5 minutes later he asked if we decided what we wanted but we weren't ready. We flagged him down and said we were ready and ordered. I ordered the Korean Noodle salad(Japchae) with chicken added and my friend ordered the Kale salad with Salmon on the side. I think it took maybe 15 minutes between ordering to serving so it wasn't a lengthy wait at all. I loved my Noodle Salad with a flavorful sauce that wasn't salty and the mushrooms added a nice earthiness to the dish. The chicken was tender and I actually savored every bite. I ate the whole thing in one sitting! My friend liked her Kale Salad and Salmon. It had large shaved Parm cheese but I think it needed more dressing as she had me taste it. After about 15 minutes we were getting warm as I don't think they had the AC on, just the front door so we asked for glasses of ice so we could douse our waters. That was a relief. After our meal, we paid our bill and used the restroom in the back past the dining room area. I actually liked where we sat because it was away from the open-concept kitchen which could be loud. Wow! What an amazing experience I had today! It's my second time coming here and I like how this health food restaurant look modern. Just a lot of people coming in on Sunday. Basically, I wanted to sit on one of the tables instead of the bar, which I have to wait 10-15 minutes. However, it's been over 15 minutes already, but the good news is that they were almost ready when I asked them about my wait time. It's strange how the number of customers didn't hit max capacity and yet it's a bit longer to get my table than expected. I guess that the staff is overwhelmed with how they have to prepare food and take care of customers. Anyways, I got to my table and wanted to try one of their burgers, which is Grass-Fed Burger. Usually, I would put the fries with the burger, but I decided to get Kale Salad to kinda be healthy. Also, want to try their iced latte. About the food, the iced latte is sweet. Kinda makes me wonder which syrups or sweeteners they added to it. The burger tastes really juicy and delicious. Kale salad tastes good too. They didn't add too much sauce on it. Not sure if they actually added any, but either way, it tastes fresh. Overall, the food I had on this visit is really good here compared to my previous one. Love the healthy, delicious, and sustainable food. The service was fine, but the atmosphere could benefit from some minor upgrades (see details below). I appreciated the duo dinner deal (however, five dumplings in an appetizer dish meant for sharing between two is an odd number). Bummer that you have to pay extra to add tofu, chicken, or shrimp to the noodle bowl; every entree should include a protein, in my humble opinion. The dessert was delish. Although the restaurant is large in terms of square footage, there is no space to talk to the host or wait to get seated. Despite us being there during a unbusy time, we had to wait in line in the doorway while staff went in and out of the same door to serve the people sitting outside--they could at least make better use of the second door that leads outside. The seating indoors is arranged in a manner where half your party will be sitting in a comfortable booth seat while the other is in an uncomfortable chair with no place to put a bag but the dirty floor with food all over. I am loathe to ding a restaurant based off its ambiance, but I visited TFK on a rainy winter's evening, and the cavernous ceilings and sparse timber tables and metal outdoor chairs made it impossible to feel cozy indoors. Now, it is entirely possible that the interior was engineered to deliver warmth and sunshine on the median Californian day, but I can only report on my own experience. I do think some curtains and better chairs would make for a large improvement. The roasted Brussel sprouts were amazing as an appetizer. I then dined happily on a plate of black rice served with vegetables and prawns, after discovering that the jambalaya was not available. The portion size was acceptable, and the flavours were delicately balanced. The menu does seem unfocused with its combination of "bowls" and burgers and pizza alongside proper mains, but I suppose it makes everyone happy. read more

Didn't taste the scramble but husband said it was very good and they catered to his ask of keeping the veggies seperate from the eggs. This restaurant has a good mix of healthy and delicious food options. I like that it's open the whole day and you can come at an odd hr. It's huge and can accommodate all group sizes. My favorite is the edamame dumpling. It's very unique and this is the only place I can get it at! Broth can be a lil too salty so if recommend moderating that a bit. That said, still 5 stars for me. The rest of the food is probably more 4 stars but overall I think this is a wonderful restaurant with lovely staff. And can't beat the location. Stopped in, sat down, non upidity down to earth what I would say is more of like a natural cafeteria, with really great wholesome food and options. In this day and age with so much junk food, its nice to know that you can still get good food for the soul. I ordered their Grass Fed Burger Verde Farms organic 100% grass-fed beef, roasted wild mushrooms, caramelized onions, organic arugula, parmesan, umami sauce..only like 660 calories, then I had the kale salad on the side...it was outstanding!! Not sure if it's the asian mentality of maximizing space and filling all the tables, came in and had to wait 20 mins for table of two, when there were multiple tables open. I do understand to keep a ratio so the wait staff aren't drowning. Ordered two apps and two mains, and one of their refresher drink. Prickly pear refresher was meh. Good presentation. Then there was a pretty long wait for the food to come afterwards, didn't time it but just felt long. Butternut soup was delicious. Banana foster chia seed pudding was good too. Avocado toast came with side of salad and jammy egg. Thought the avocado to toast ratio could've been better. Pretty thick slice of toast. Ranchers hash, was not expecting what I go. Jammy egg was good, veg's good, lots of sweet potatoes, and meat was quite well done. I guess I was expecting more diner style corn beef and hash. Server was great I'm the beginning, coming back to check up on us, but after we finished was hard to find him. Maybe close to holiday and we're fully staffed that he had a bigger area to cover. I used to love the Palo Alto location. My daughter has celiac disease it was so nice to be able to take her someplace with delicious options. Unfortunately, it has not been good for few years now. We keep on coming back thinking it was an off day, but it just gets worse. 1) Service is so poor. We sat for over 15 mins before our server came by. it took over 30 minutes to get our food. Nobody checked on us during our wait. 2) They are always out of items, even in the middle of the day. Always. 3) The food is just not nearly as good as it used to be. 4) We used to make reservations because it was so busy, but no longer needed. It's so quiet inside, which is why the poor service really doesn't make sense. The patio was completely closed - typically full. It's like they are in self sabotage mode and want to be shut down. I'm giving True Food Kitchen 3 stars because my previous experiences here have always been quite good, which makes this recent visit particularly disappointing. I'm not sure if there has been a change in management or staffing, but the overall experience felt noticeably different this time. The restaurant was not well maintained, with dirty tables throughout the dining area, and the service was exceptionally slow. The staff also seemed somewhat disengaged and lacked the attentiveness and enthusiasm . To make matters worse, the matcha I ordered was a complete disaster. After bringing it to the server's attention, I was disappointed that there was no real acknowledgment or accountability, nor was there any genuine effort to rectify the issue. When a customer takes the time to point out a problem, I believe it is important for the staff to listen and make an effort to resolve it. Despite the disappointing service and overall experience, I still chose to leave a 20% gratuity because I genuinely believe in tipping for the effort and time of service workers. That said, I sincerely hope this was an isolated experience. True Food Kitchen has previously delivered a much higher standard of service and hospitality, which is why I'm hoping management takes this feedback seriously. If issues like poor cleanliness, slow service, lack of attentiveness, and an unwillingness to address customer concerns continue, I worry that it could significantly diminish the quality and reputation that this restaurant has built over the years. read more

Having multiple food allergies can be tough, but GM Dylan, Manager Levy, waiter Dylan, and Chef Liberty took exceptional care of us--serving some of the healthiest, most delicious food tailored to our needs. Wow this was one of the most mediocre dining experiences I've had in a long time. We arrived for dinner at 7:30PM and the restaurant was maybe 20% full. Perhaps I should've taken that as a warning of the experience to come. But we sat down outside nonetheless. While our waters were brought out after about 10 mins, it took another 10-15 minutes for the server to come take our order. The food came out incredibly slow. The first to come out were the fries. And while we didn't have to wait long, the soggy and bland fries looked like they were left overs that were haphazardly tossed onto the plate. Mind you, I recognize that it's a bit of an oxymoron to order french fries at a healthy restaurant. But there's really no excuse for serving cold soft french fries. It took another 10-15 mins for our second appetizer to arrive which is just not an ideal eating situation. Finally after another unreasonable wait, our four dishes arrived. My pepperoni pizza was barely warm. The fresh mozzarella had already coagulated and the crust had cooled to the consistency of cardboard. I joked to my family that the theme of tonight's dinner was "leftovers." After the meal, we were ready to pay. So again, we were subjected to an unnecessary wait. What was most frustrating was waiting for the waiter to pick up my credit card. Here's a tip: it's just not a smart move to make the customer wait to pay while you socialize with the hostess. TLDR: Come here if you're looking for a macro friendly place, but expect below mediocre food and service Came here at around 12pm on a Tuesday, and it seemed that there was a slight lunch rush, but we were seated right away. I got the grass fed burger lettuce wrapped and upgraded my salad to fries, and my boyfriend got the chicken parmesan. The burger was just okay. I asked for it to be cooked medium, but I'd say it leaned more towards medium well/well done. The lettuce they used to wrap it wasn't the best for burger consumption, so I ate it like a salad which I had no issue with. I did like all the fixings that came with it, and most importantly it fit my macro goals. I got the fries with the tuscan dust, and they were really flavorful, but were barely warm. If you told me they were sitting out for 15 minutes I'd believe you. Would definitely be a lot better if they were warm and crisp The chicken parmesan was not bad. Decent portion of chicken and will definitely fill you up, but nothing special at all. The service here was a bit slow, and for some reason kinda felt awkward? I have been a longtime fan of True Food. Truly! Every time I am at Stanford Shopping Center, I make it a point to stop here for lunch. Upon visiting a couple of weeks ago, my food unfortunately was served on the colder side. The server did apologize and they brought back the dish warmed. We chose True Food Kitchen because it wasn't as busy as the other restaurants nearby, and we thought it would be a quicker, more relaxed lunch. Unfortunately, it ended up being one of the most disappointing dining experiences we've had. After being seated, we waited a long time before anyone came to take our order. Once we finally ordered, we waited even longer for our food to arrive. To make matters worse, our order was incomplete. I brought it to our server's attention, but even after mentioning it, we still never received everything we had ordered. The biggest issue came after we left. The next morning, I checked my credit card statement and noticed I had been charged more than the amount I had signed for on the receipt. Mistakes can happen, but charging a customer more than the authorized amount is unacceptable and raises serious concerns. Between the long waits, incomplete order, poor service, and incorrect credit card charge, this experience was frustrating from start to finish.
