Organic Tuscan Kale Salad with Salmon
    Renée M.

Was looking for a place to eat in the mall that was healthy and had a variety of food and we stumbled upon this. We asked how long the wait was and they said 20-25 minutes if we didn't have a reservation. There were lots of empty seats inside and some outside so we just asked if we could sit at the bar? Hostess said we could but wait times for food could be the same. We found bar top seating as a couple of tables with about 9 seats and about 4 stools at the bar were available. A waiter came and asked if we wanted any drinks to start but we just wanted water. About 5 minutes later he asked if we decided what we wanted but we weren't ready. We flagged him down and said we were ready and ordered. I ordered the Korean Noodle salad(Japchae) with chicken added and my friend ordered the Kale salad with Salmon on the side. I think it took maybe 15 minutes between ordering to serving so it wasn't a lengthy wait at all. I loved my Noodle Salad with a flavorful sauce that wasn't salty and the mushrooms added a nice earthiness to the dish. The chicken was tender and I actually savored every bite. I ate the whole thing in one sitting! My friend liked her Kale Salad and Salmon. It had large shaved Parm cheese but I think it needed more dressing as she had me taste it. After about 15 minutes we were getting warm as I don't think they had the AC on, just the front door so we asked for glasses of ice so we could douse our waters. That was a relief. After our meal, we paid our bill and used the restroom in the back past the dining room area. I actually liked where we sat because it was away from the open-concept kitchen which could be loud. Nice ambiance with high ceilings and a spacious seating area.

Came here on a recommendation with a group looking to grab a quick bite after a run. We wanted a lighter, healthier bite so this seemed like the perfect spot. My friend and I split the all American burger with fries, which I paired with a kale juice. I rarely have pressed juice but the kale juice was refreshing, delicious, and sweet but not too much. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and it was juicy and flavorful. I noticed a lot of veggie options on the menu that I'd like to try in the future. I also wanted to give a shoutout to our amazing server, Lisa with the long black hair! We were a big group but she was incredibly attentive, friendly, and hospitable. We asked for a variety of waters, and split a couple of our dishes which she was very accommodating about. When ordering I was torn between a few options but she gave great recommendations and I was very satisfied with my meal and juice. Thank you Lisa for making this an amazing experience for us, and I would definitely love to return in the future!

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. The place was busy, but we were seated immediately. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow throughout the meal. It took a long time for someone to come to our table, take our order, and bring out the food. We were told the kitchen was backed up, but the host continued seating guests continuously, which likely didn't help the situation. We ordered the Edamame Dumplings, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Seasonal Market Salad, and a POM Spritz mocktail. The Edamame Dumplings were disappointing--bland, lacking flavor, and served cold. The Seasonal Market Salad and Buffalo Chicken Sandwich tasted good overall, but the sandwich had a surprisingly small portion of chicken (basically one tender), which felt underwhelming for the price. The fries on the side were also nothing special. The biggest letdown was the POM Spritz mocktail. It had almost no pomegranate flavor and tasted more like plain soda water. Overall, the food was hit or miss, and the slow service made the experience less enjoyable. I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon.

There was no halloumi in the halloumi salad. The jambalaya pasta is extremely spicy! The shrimps in the pasta were fresh and tasty.

I now remember why I hadn't come back here for 8 years -- overpriced, poor service (at least upon arrival and for getting seated -- our waiter was very nice), and food is ok. Food wise they have a variety of options and the edamame hummus and dumplings are good apps, I do enjoy the ancient grains bowl with protein, and the kids menu has a few basic options including pizza, pasta and air fried chicken. I would say the food is ok but not worth the price, especially with smaller portion sizes. Maybe the pizza is a fairly safe option. If you come for convenience, use the inkind app to save 25%. Happy Hour is 5-6pm and save $2 off a few options and grab a $5 beer or wine.

Wow! What an amazing experience I had today! It's my second time coming here and I like how this health food restaurant look modern. Just a lot of people coming in on Sunday. Basically, I wanted to sit on one of the tables instead of the bar, which I have to wait 10-15 minutes. However, it's been over 15 minutes already, but the good news is that they were almost ready when I asked them about my wait time. It's strange how the number of customers didn't hit max capacity and yet it's a bit longer to get my table than expected. I guess that the staff is overwhelmed with how they have to prepare food and take care of customers. Anyways, I got to my table and wanted to try one of their burgers, which is Grass-Fed Burger. Usually, I would put the fries with the burger, but I decided to get Kale Salad to kinda be healthy. Also, want to try their iced latte. About the food, the iced latte is sweet. Kinda makes me wonder which syrups or sweeteners they added to it. The burger tastes really juicy and delicious. Kale salad tastes good too. They didn't add too much sauce on it. Not sure if they actually added any, but either way, it tastes fresh. Overall, the food I had on this visit is really good here compared to my previous one. Also, my friend asked me about it online if we can dine here and I told her yes! Definitely give this place a try and you'll like it!

Love the healthy, delicious, and sustainable food. The service was fine, but the atmosphere could benefit from some minor upgrades (see details below). I appreciated the duo dinner deal (however, five dumplings in an appetizer dish meant for sharing between two is an odd number). Bummer that you have to pay extra to add tofu, chicken, or shrimp to the noodle bowl; every entree should include a protein, in my humble opinion. The dessert was delish. Although the restaurant is large in terms of square footage, there is no space to talk to the host or wait to get seated. Despite us being there during a unbusy time, we had to wait in line in the doorway while staff went in and out of the same door to serve the people sitting outside--they could at least make better use of the second door that leads outside. The seating indoors is arranged in a manner where half your party will be sitting in a comfortable booth seat while the other is in an uncomfortable chair with no place to put a bag but the dirty floor with food all over. The space could certainly benefit from more thoughtfulness and at the very least more regular sweeping.

This True Food Kitchen is located in the Stanford Shopping complex. We absolutely loved the vibe and the food. Our server was very attentive and funny. It was an open seating with huge capacity. On a Saturday night, with the Niners playing it wasn't that packed. Orders were taken promptly and food was served quickly. We had cappuccino, Seasonal Spinach & Mushroom Sourdough Pizza, True Cris'd Air-Fried French Fries with peri peri ketchup, Colorado IPA, All-American Burger and a Margherita Pizza. We left very satisfied overall. Bonus was we got to meet the legendary Steve Young and he was very gracious enough to indulge my husband with a photo op. February 2026

Food that isn't meant to taste good but good for you. Keep that in mind when eating it. Everything is very healthy. ALOT of indoor and outdoor seating. Restrooms were very clean Charred cauliflower: 3/5, tastes exactly what it sounds like Edamame dumpling: 4.5/5 Chicken parmasan: 2/5, never had chicken parm so dry and bland.

I am loathe to ding a restaurant based off its ambiance, but I visited TFK on a rainy winter's evening, and the cavernous ceilings and sparse timber tables and metal outdoor chairs made it impossible to feel cozy indoors. Now, it is entirely possible that the interior was engineered to deliver warmth and sunshine on the median Californian day, but I can only report on my own experience. I do think some curtains and better chairs would make for a large improvement. The roasted Brussel sprouts were amazing as an appetizer. I then dined happily on a plate of black rice served with vegetables and prawns, after discovering that the jambalaya was not available. The portion size was acceptable, and the flavours were delicately balanced. The menu does seem unfocused with its combination of "bowls" and burgers and pizza alongside proper mains, but I suppose it makes everyone happy.

Tried this over the week for dinner with some friends. We were seated in a few minutes and the restaurant was not super busy. Loved how spaced the tables were and the ambience was perfect for a casual dinner. We got the edamame dumplings, charred cauliflower and fries to start with. The food did take a long time to come but was super delicious and well made. We also got the teriyaki quinoa bowl, seasonal broccoli sourdough pizza and Korean noodle bowl. All of these were so good! Perfect portions, filling and tastes great. The drinks menu is quite unique and we did try the prickly pear tisane and hangover rx. Both were great. Overall, definitely going back to try the rest of the vegetarian menu. Great food, service and perfect for a quick wholesome meal.

This spot is awesome for having gluten, vegan, and vegetarian options! As well as dairy free, I order a burger with kale salad and both were good, although I wish the server told the mushroom had onion. It states it comes with caramelized onion and asked with none and was not advised about the mushroom having onion. Ambiance is nice and service was alright.

The burrata with peaches was an easy choice. Crisp, toasted crostini slices paired beautifully with the silky, creamy burrata, while the peaches added a pleasant touch of tangy sweetness. Finished with a drizzle of balsamic glaze and fresh microgreens, every bite was well balanced. The beet salad was just as good. Generous chunks of roasted beets were accompanied by grapefruit, shaved fennel, and creamy avocado, all tossed in a bright, refreshing vinaigrette. The tangy goat cheese tied everything together perfectly. As if that weren't enough, I also ordered the Basil Melt. Layered with organic heirloom tomatoes, fresh organic basil, creamy mozzarella, and thyme aioli on an Acme baguette, it delivered fresh, vibrant flavors in every bite. Simple ingredients done right. To finish, I treated myself to their affogato, topped with house-made whipped cream. Rich, creamy, and wonderfully indulgent, it was the perfect afternoon pick-me-up. The only miss for me was the almond croissant. While I appreciated the generous topping of toasted sliced almonds, the house-made almond filling didn't quite deliver the rich, buttery flavor I was hoping for. Service was warm and welcoming from start to finish. The staff happily helped photograph our party of four, which was a thoughtful touch that added to an already enjoyable brunch experience. Overall, this is a wonderful neighborhood café with excellent savory dishes, and fantastic coffee drinks.

For those who like all the juicy deets, please enjoy the following... Arrived at Son & Garden around 10:30a or so for brunch in mid-July so the weather was great (but the weather is always great in the bay area). The place sits right on the corner and has outside seating under a covering. There are also some overhead heaters installed to keep the temperature comfortable. There are a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant, however when leaving I noticed there was an A-frame sign on the curb that says "Cal-Train Parking", which requires payment so I don't officially know if the parking was free. This brings me to my next point, there is a parking lot right next to the spaces in front of the restaurant, which clearly belongs to Cal-Train, since there is a train station right next to it. Here is where some of the points came off, the noise from the train horn was very loud and if you are not expecting it, it can be startling. The service was prompt and friendly, and they were very attentive. At no point did I ever have to flag anyone down for more water or to ask for anything, kudos to the entire service staff for their level of service. There were a few things ordered here, we had the Chicken Panini with fries, a green salad and a complete meal that included French Toast, Scrambled Eggs and I added the Applewood Smoked Bacon. My wife ordered the "Into the Forest" drink that she said was delicious. All of the food was really good. The Chicken Panini was cooked and made very well, the chicken was moist, tomatoes were thickly cut and the sauce was great. The fries were crispy and seasoned well, and accompanied with a buttermilk ranch dressing that tasted as if it was made from scratch, in house. Honestly, I would purchase a bottle to take home if they had some for sale, it was that good and I'm not a "ranch" dressing kind of guy. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon was pretty good, but my favorite would have to be the French Toast. There was a hint of orange flavor somewhere in the batter and they were absolutely delicious without any syrup. They were made with levain bread, and topped with powdered sugar and fresh fruit. I was very happy with the french toast if I haven't mentioned that yet . In summary, it was a refreshing brunch, with great food and service. My only cons were the train doing its "choo choo" thing a few times during the time there and in my opinion, I feel the prices were slightly more on the expensive side for "breakfast" food but I also know this is the world we live in these days. You will not be disappointed if you choose to eat there (or get a drink there according to my wife).

Good food is easy to find. Great service is a little harder. It is a great place to bring friends, coworkers, and family. Hummus definitely sits at the top of my recommendation list for people looking for a nice meal. Shout out to Bertan

Wow. Could not have been happier with the food!…read more Will present the food in the order I would recommend: Banana fritters- soft clouds of fried dough, over some rum dark chocolate sauce. Divine! 7/5 Curry cauliflower over a red non spicy sauce. Refreshing! The flavors blended together with the flavorful but not overpowering flavor, with the well balanced sauce underneath. Could not stop eating it. $17 8/5 Mezze plate - the coconut feta was very creamy and good, I really enjoyed the pomegranate arugula salad with pickled onion and with the pieces of falafel inside. The flatbread was a little hard, but good. The eggplant was good and hummus also good. $32 price a little steep for the platter 6/5 Impossible cheeseburger - classic impossible burger. The standout item was the fries, quite good! Crisp outside and soft inside. 5/5 French toast - ok, a little dry, the berry sauce was good but lacking a little dynamic flavor maybe some citrus? 3/5 Cookie with vegan ice cream. Alas, pastries are still difficult to make well vegan 3/5 Service was a little distracted and hard to order. Bussing was very on top of it. I will return for the top items

Everyone ordered different dishes so we could try a lot of things from the menu. 1/5 Athenian Eggplant - Far too sour and the flat bread was SO HARD. Even carb lovers didn't want to finish it. 4/5 Green Falafel - Came warm and the tzatziki sauce was pretty good. 4/5 French fries - Sauces were interesting. 1/5 Mushroom bao - ONE small piece of fried mushroom in each of the two baos that came out. It was stuffed with sour lettuce instead. 2/5 Corn pizza - That coconut mozz was not it for me. 3/5 Chicken sandwich - Solid. Drinks were good! What's up Doc was my fave. Located in the corner of the plaza next to CVS. Good service.

I finally had some free time this afternoon. I picked up the kouign amann, Paris Brest and the lemon tart from Barbara that were set aside for me. I couldn't wait to sink my teeth in the kouign amann and its laminated buttery layers with a hint of sweetness was perfect! You've made my day! It was airy and light. I'm waiting to share the other sweet treats with my parents later this evening. Thank you for surprising me with the lemon choice. Barbara - it was really wonderful to meet you! Service with a smile and happy to chat for a bit about Brazil! Muito obrigada! Daniel - you've been simply amazing! I can't thank you enough for being so gracious and kind. I actually like this store location over the Palo Alto store. Downtown Menlo Park is so very lucky to have you! I'll definitely come back here next time!

HEALTH CODE VIOLATIONS!!!…read more I am writing this review to both warn other customers and so that management sees this. I was at the MP location earlier this week and saw not one but TWO health code violations committed by employees. First, one of the ladies was drinking out of an open cup at the front where the food and beverages are prepared. This is against the health code! 113977. (a) Except as specified in subdivision (b), an employee shall eat or drink only in designated areas where contamination of nonprepackaged food; clean equipment, utensils, and linens; unwrapped single-use articles; or other items needing protection cannot result. (b) A food employee may drink from a closed beverage container if the container is handled to prevent contamination of the employee's hands, the container, nonprepackaged food, and food-contact surfaces. The employee (brown hair in a ponytail, wearing grey Adidas) was frequently drinking a pink drink from a clear open cup behind the counter where the pastries are! Also, I saw the male employee behind the counter sneeze and use his bare hand to cover his sneeze. He rubbed his nose and sniffed. I was watching him from my table to make sure that he washed his hands. He went over to the sink behind the cash register and I kid you not, he turned on the water and for literally ONE SECOND put his hands under it. He then wiped his hands together to dry them. HE DID NOT USE SOAP TO WASH HIS HANDS AFTER SNEEZING INTO THEM!!!! Article 4. Handwashing 113953.3. (a) (2) After touching bare human body parts other than clean hands and clean, exposed portions of arms. (5) After coughing, sneezing, using a handkerchief or disposable tissue, using tobacco, eating, or drinking. He then went back to work grabbing customers' pastries. I'd really love for management to please have a word with staff/review training and protocols - please don't respond to this review with the canned "Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have addressed this with our staff and we will take your comments into consideration." Please actually DO SOMETHING and ensure that all of your staff follow proper health code laws! Thank you!! :D

Very cute place with an inviting layout and feels super clean. We decided to share two dishes - Thai salad with chicken - flavorful and lots of salad. Slightly light on chicken. - salmon salad sandwich. Very tasty - fries divine. Six stars for service as they split the salad and sandwich for us so it's easy to share. So thoughtful. There menu isn't huge but they have specialty options that rotate frequently so you can't get sick of it! The indoor seating is nice, but on a sunny day you have to enjoy the outdoor set up. There's great shading from the verandas and umbrellas. The portions are huge for everything but the salads are especially massive. You MUST try the tater tots. They are the best I've ever had. Perfectly crispy and golden, without being excessively greasy. If you get the sandwiches or burgers, you can sub out the fries for free. The fries are good too, but trust me, you will not regret getting the tots.
