Came here on a recommendation with a group looking to grab a quick bite after a run. We wanted a lighter, healthier bite so this seemed like the perfect spot. My friend and I split the all American burger with fries, which I paired with a kale juice. I rarely have pressed juice but the kale juice was refreshing, delicious, and sweet but not too much. The burger was cooked to a perfect medium and it was juicy and flavorful. I noticed a lot of veggie options on the menu that I'd like to try in the future. I also wanted to give a shoutout to our amazing server, Lisa with the long black hair! We were a big group but she was incredibly attentive, friendly, and hospitable. We asked for a variety of waters, and split a couple of our dishes which she was very accommodating about. When ordering I was torn between a few options but she gave great recommendations and I was very satisfied with my meal and juice. Thank you Lisa for making this an amazing experience for us, and I would definitely love to return in the future!

There was no halloumi in the halloumi salad. The jambalaya pasta is extremely spicy! The shrimps in the pasta were fresh and tasty.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon. The place was busy, but we were seated immediately. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow throughout the meal. It took a long time for someone to come to our table, take our order, and bring out the food. We were told the kitchen was backed up, but the host continued seating guests continuously, which likely didn't help the situation. We ordered the Edamame Dumplings, Buffalo Chicken Sandwich, Seasonal Market Salad, and a POM Spritz mocktail. The Edamame Dumplings were disappointing--bland, lacking flavor, and served cold. The Seasonal Market Salad and Buffalo Chicken Sandwich tasted good overall, but the sandwich had a surprisingly small portion of chicken (basically one tender), which felt underwhelming for the price. The fries on the side were also nothing special. The biggest letdown was the POM Spritz mocktail. It had almost no pomegranate flavor and tasted more like plain soda water. Overall, the food was hit or miss, and the slow service made the experience less enjoyable. I'm not sure I'll be returning anytime soon.

I now remember why I hadn't come back here for 8 years -- overpriced, poor service (at least upon arrival and for getting seated -- our waiter was very nice), and food is ok. Food wise they have a variety of options and the edamame hummus and dumplings are good apps, I do enjoy the ancient grains bowl with protein, and the kids menu has a few basic options including pizza, pasta and air fried chicken. I would say the food is ok but not worth the price, especially with smaller portion sizes. Maybe the pizza is a fairly safe option. If you come for convenience, use the inkind app to save 25%. Happy Hour is 5-6pm and save $2 off a few options and grab a $5 beer or wine.

Wow! What an amazing experience I had today! It's my second time coming here and I like how this health food restaurant look modern. Just a lot of people coming in on Sunday. Basically, I wanted to sit on one of the tables instead of the bar, which I have to wait 10-15 minutes. However, it's been over 15 minutes already, but the good news is that they were almost ready when I asked them about my wait time. It's strange how the number of customers didn't hit max capacity and yet it's a bit longer to get my table than expected. I guess that the staff is overwhelmed with how they have to prepare food and take care of customers. Anyways, I got to my table and wanted to try one of their burgers, which is Grass-Fed Burger. Usually, I would put the fries with the burger, but I decided to get Kale Salad to kinda be healthy. Also, want to try their iced latte. About the food, the iced latte is sweet. Kinda makes me wonder which syrups or sweeteners they added to it. The burger tastes really juicy and delicious. Kale salad tastes good too. They didn't add too much sauce on it. Not sure if they actually added any, but either way, it tastes fresh. Overall, the food I had on this visit is really good here compared to my previous one. Also, my friend asked me about it online if we can dine here and I told her yes! Definitely give this place a try and you'll like it!

Love the healthy, delicious, and sustainable food. The service was fine, but the atmosphere could benefit from some minor upgrades (see details below). I appreciated the duo dinner deal (however, five dumplings in an appetizer dish meant for sharing between two is an odd number). Bummer that you have to pay extra to add tofu, chicken, or shrimp to the noodle bowl; every entree should include a protein, in my humble opinion. The dessert was delish. Although the restaurant is large in terms of square footage, there is no space to talk to the host or wait to get seated. Despite us being there during a unbusy time, we had to wait in line in the doorway while staff went in and out of the same door to serve the people sitting outside--they could at least make better use of the second door that leads outside. The seating indoors is arranged in a manner where half your party will be sitting in a comfortable booth seat while the other is in an uncomfortable chair with no place to put a bag but the dirty floor with food all over. The space could certainly benefit from more thoughtfulness and at the very least more regular sweeping.

This True Food Kitchen is located in the Stanford Shopping complex. We absolutely loved the vibe and the food. Our server was very attentive and funny. It was an open seating with huge capacity. On a Saturday night, with the Niners playing it wasn't that packed. Orders were taken promptly and food was served quickly. We had cappuccino, Seasonal Spinach & Mushroom Sourdough Pizza, True Cris'd Air-Fried French Fries with peri peri ketchup, Colorado IPA, All-American Burger and a Margherita Pizza. We left very satisfied overall. Bonus was we got to meet the legendary Steve Young and he was very gracious enough to indulge my husband with a photo op. February 2026

Food that isn't meant to taste good but good for you. Keep that in mind when eating it. Everything is very healthy. ALOT of indoor and outdoor seating. Restrooms were very clean Charred cauliflower: 3/5, tastes exactly what it sounds like Edamame dumpling: 4.5/5 Chicken parmasan: 2/5, never had chicken parm so dry and bland.

I am loathe to ding a restaurant based off its ambiance, but I visited TFK on a rainy winter's evening, and the cavernous ceilings and sparse timber tables and metal outdoor chairs made it impossible to feel cozy indoors. Now, it is entirely possible that the interior was engineered to deliver warmth and sunshine on the median Californian day, but I can only report on my own experience. I do think some curtains and better chairs would make for a large improvement. The roasted Brussel sprouts were amazing as an appetizer. I then dined happily on a plate of black rice served with vegetables and prawns, after discovering that the jambalaya was not available. The portion size was acceptable, and the flavours were delicately balanced. The menu does seem unfocused with its combination of "bowls" and burgers and pizza alongside proper mains, but I suppose it makes everyone happy.

Tried this over the week for dinner with some friends. We were seated in a few minutes and the restaurant was not super busy. Loved how spaced the tables were and the ambience was perfect for a casual dinner. We got the edamame dumplings, charred cauliflower and fries to start with. The food did take a long time to come but was super delicious and well made. We also got the teriyaki quinoa bowl, seasonal broccoli sourdough pizza and Korean noodle bowl. All of these were so good! Perfect portions, filling and tastes great. The drinks menu is quite unique and we did try the prickly pear tisane and hangover rx. Both were great. Overall, definitely going back to try the rest of the vegetarian menu. Great food, service and perfect for a quick wholesome meal.

This spot is awesome for having gluten, vegan, and vegetarian options! As well as dairy free, I order a burger with kale salad and both were good, although I wish the server told the mushroom had onion. It states it comes with caramelized onion and asked with none and was not advised about the mushroom having onion. Ambiance is nice and service was alright.

Came in here for a late lunch. We waited to be seated, waited to get water, waited to order, then waited and waited some more. After about an hour of waiting, we had merely managed to receive our water and had ordered. We had an appointment so asked to have our food to go. The most annoying part was that the tables next to us who were seated after us got their orders in and had their drinks and food brought out before us. One of our water cups was also dirty. The restrooms were clean but the first stall was disgusting. Here's a picture of my poke bowl we asked to make to go once we realised we didn't have time to eat after all the waiting. The serving portion is quite small for the cost. Someone in our party also had the curry and has felt sick all day since. He said the curry was cold and gross.

My husband's favorite was the sesame leaf as it was a blend of mango, yogurt, and chaat on a crispy sesame leaf. I particularly liked the kale chutney and the pani puri. My husband said the lamb loin was tough in some areas because of the cut. The menu was confusing as it labeled "g" as in containing gluten instead of "gf" for gluten-free as most menus do. Our server was highly attentive and for every dish, he would let our friend with a gluten allergy know if she could have it our not. The drinks feel heavy-handed and I enjoyed the Dawa (vodka, lime, honey, and demarara) the most. The Kokam and Smoke ( sweet water, mezcal, and orange) felt as smokey as a forest fire to me but other friends who enjoy a good smokey flavor liked it. It is one of the best salads I've ever had, and it's visually stunning. All the textures of each item complement each other, and it was such a delicious, refreshing dish among all the other rich, heavier dishes. The drinks here are pre-batched, which I dislike because I can't have certain alcohols, so I couldn't order the drink I wanted from their current seasonal menu. I did order a mezcal cocktail, and it was very strong, smoky, and had beautiful ice that said "Ettan". The fried chicken was very good, and I loved the dip that came with it. I would have preferred the chicken tikka in smaller pieces, but it was also very good with some of their homemade butter in the center that was delicious. The chicken was small and came with only a few pieces, given the amount of sauce. I would have either had the sauce in a small pouring container on the side, like the curry accompanying the black cod, or used a different dish because there was so much more sauce than the chicken. The entrees came with 2 half pieces of whey naan and coconut rice. I think it should come with 4 pieces of naan, especially with dishes that come with a lot of sauce. The black cod was tender and delicious- it came wrapped in a banana leaf and a side of really delicious curry sauce. The service is great here and I had a good time and a good experience. I do think it is pricey for Indian food, though they do a great job of plating each dish and making it is visually appealing, but it didn't feel like traditional indian food I've had at other places. Its just more colorful and a little fancier and more done up for like a "fine dining restaurant". I wish they had other options of naan to order like other indian places I've visited- I was really looking forward to that, so I was disappointed I didn't see a butter or garlic or cheese naan on the menu to order. The whey naan was good but not as soft and chewy as other naan I've had. it was more crunchy.

As someone who likes Turkish food, this felt like a strong contender. Food: We started with the lahmacun which is made up of a thin Turkish flatbread topped with ground beef, tomato, onion, pepper, and garlic. It was beautifully thin and crispy, with just the right amount of topping. Honestly, add a small salad and you've got the kind of lunch that makes you feel satisfied. This lahmacun is one of the better versions I've had which made it extra tragic to learn it's a lunch-only situation. Why gatekeep happiness to daytime hours? For my entree, I ordered the Alinazik which was grilled tenderloin skewers over eggplant labneh. The beef was tender and the labneh was creamy, savory and a tad smoky. I saw that they offer a $44.95 prix fixe menu, which sounds great in theory, except for the small catch that everyone at the table has to commit. A bit of a "we ride together, we prix fixe together" situation which may not work depending on your dining companion(s) dietary restrictions. Atmosphere: The space is bright, airy, and stylish. The high ceilings resulted in lots of natural light, and a large bar that quietly suggests, "you could have a cocktail or two." One slightly odd note: The bathroom lighting is very dim. Like... "is this ambiance or did someone forget a switch?" kind of dim. Not a dealbreaker, just a curious contrast to the otherwise well-lit space. Overall: A solid pick for Turkish food in Palo Alto located off Emerson and a successful group lunch choice (I will be taking full credit). I'd happily come back to explore more of the menu. I'm already eyeing the Pirzola (bone-in lamb chops) or the Filet of Levrek (branzino) and maybe lobby for all-day lahmacun.

We had a variety of veggie dishes: the yellow pea fried tofu is a must have: the chili sauce it comes with understated, and the "tofu" slices themselves melt in your mouth like custard, unlike any tofu we've had. The samosa soup was also off the hook delicious--savory and tangy, and our other dishes: tea leaf salad and palata bread were quite good. Were burmese fans and highly recommend!

I had the opportunity to visit Son & Garden (Palo Alto) and for those that do not want all the fine…read moretuned details, I would rate the overall visit at 8.5 out of 10. You will enjoy! For those who like all the juicy deets, please enjoy the following... Arrived at Son & Garden around 10:30a or so for brunch in mid-July so the weather was great (but the weather is always great in the bay area). The place sits right on the corner and has outside seating under a covering. There are also some overhead heaters installed to keep the temperature comfortable. There are a few parking spaces in front of the restaurant, however when leaving I noticed there was an A-frame sign on the curb that says "Cal-Train Parking", which requires payment so I don't officially know if the parking was free. This brings me to my next point, there is a parking lot right next to the spaces in front of the restaurant, which clearly belongs to Cal-Train, since there is a train station right next to it. Here is where some of the points came off, the noise from the train horn was very loud and if you are not expecting it, it can be startling. The service was prompt and friendly, and they were very attentive. At no point did I ever have to flag anyone down for more water or to ask for anything, kudos to the entire service staff for their level of service. There were a few things ordered here, we had the Chicken Panini with fries, a green salad and a complete meal that included French Toast, Scrambled Eggs and I added the Applewood Smoked Bacon. My wife ordered the "Into the Forest" drink that she said was delicious. All of the food was really good. The Chicken Panini was cooked and made very well, the chicken was moist, tomatoes were thickly cut and the sauce was great. The fries were crispy and seasoned well, and accompanied with a buttermilk ranch dressing that tasted as if it was made from scratch, in house. Honestly, I would purchase a bottle to take home if they had some for sale, it was that good and I'm not a "ranch" dressing kind of guy. The eggs were fluffy and the bacon was pretty good, but my favorite would have to be the French Toast. There was a hint of orange flavor somewhere in the batter and they were absolutely delicious without any syrup. They were made with levain bread, and topped with powdered sugar and fresh fruit. I was very happy with the french toast if I haven't mentioned that yet . In summary, it was a refreshing brunch, with great food and service. My only cons were the train doing its "choo choo" thing a few times during the time there and in my opinion, I feel the prices were slightly more on the expensive side for "breakfast" food but I also know this is the world we live in these days. You will not be disappointed if you choose to eat there (or get a drink there according to my wife).

I had been a patron of the Palo Alto location before it closed, so I decided to give this location…read morea try. We took our mom here for Mother's Day, mostly for the adorable decor. Sadly, this location (if you've been to the other ones, you would feel the same) is so much less floral and fun. Also, the menu appeared to be a lot more limited with the fun stuff. Son & Garden shares the building with their sister restaurant, which we accidentally wandered into first. The staff there were not so courteous to us when we had realized our mistake. They probably get that a lot... but if that's the case, isn't that a sign to make it more obvious where Son & Garden diners need to go? The service was subpar as we had to keep asking for basic things a condiments and table settings. The server was not versed in the menu and we ended up ordering something based on their info and it just wasn't what we thought it would be. My poor mom had so much difficulty with her fried cutlet, she didn't really eat. Dishes here are overpriced which I always understood it as part of the premium for dining in a super cute restaurant. Well, the outside seating wasn't great and there was plant debris landing on our table throughout our meal since we were seated outside. In the other Son & Garden locations, there's mostly indoor seating so I didn't think to investigate whether this restuarant was outside only or not. I get that my review of this place is super biased and based on my expectations of their other location, but you would think that they would keep the vibe fairly similar. The dining experiences at both could not be more different. Lastly, the parking situation could not be more nebulous! We didn't know if we were in CalTrain territory or retail. Needless to say, we didn't have a great dining experience here but the food was acceptable, hence the 3 stars.
