The service and quality of the work here is hit or miss. And people of color face constant micro aggressions. I'm not going to expound on that, but it's noticeable and frequent. Tran (the owner) is the only tech whose work is consistently outstanding. He takes his time, is genuine, and gives a beautiful manicure. I know people love Kelly (his wife) but I find her too familiar in an off putting and disingenuous way. Additionally, she constantly entertains interruptions while doing your nails and has a tendency to nic your skin and cause bleeding (this happens every time she's my tech without fail). I come here because it's close to home and I sort of know what I'm getting. Not because it's the best salon ever. I'll also say that I've seen them do some shady things with pricing (never Tran, let me be very clear), but add ons you didn't ask for or just flat out making up prices. I get the same type of manicure every time and with Tran the cost is always $50. With others...it's between $65-$70. So yeah...to say I have mixed feelings is an understatement.

Full Story: I went in for a pedicure on Saturday, June 7, and asked for a cat eye design on my big toe. The young lady initially said she could do it, but she couldn't actually apply it correctly and had to call in an older lady for help. Instead of helping the young g lady, the older lady simply dismissed the request, telling me the cat eye "can't be applied on toes like that" and even suggested the color I picked is ugly. This place only has one UV light, so I had to wait for another client to finish. The young lady offered me a complimentary manicure to make up for it -- which I appreciated, and I offered to pay and asked to have gel nails done on my hands at the same time. Once again, the same older lady came and worked on my finger nails, and criticized the color I chose, saying it was too light and transparent and hard to apply. Later, I realized I left something behind and called the shop immediately. The older lady answered and confirmed they were open on Sunday, June 8. According to their Google Maps hours, they open at 11am. I arrived at 11:15am only to find them CLOSED. When I called again, she claimed they actually open at 12pm. When I asked why she didn't mention that the day before, she blamed me for not asking. I had to come back a second time to retrieve my item, and I did get a full refund of $115. During the refund process, the older lady still refused to take responsibility and blamed everything on the "wrong product" I chose and the young lady's inexperience. She even tried to claim that I hadn't paid for my hand service, which was untrue and beside the point -- even if it was complimentary, it doesn't excuse her rudeness, impatience, and complete lack of professionalism. I've been getting my feet done here for the last three years -- had cat eye done before -- so it's not about the product, but the complete incompetence and disrespect I encountered this time. The older lady's attitude was absolutely unacceptable: she was rude, impatient, and full of lies. I will never come back.

When I politely mentioned one crooked nail, the male technician became defensive, blaming the shape of my fingers rather than his work. Another colleague even asked if the tips were old--despite me just getting them done--which made the experience feel sloppy.
