A small ice cream shop in the heart of the French Quarter - it can be easy to miss but don't skip it even if it's cold out! They have unique flavors that not only work but will also intrigue the pickiest eaters who don't venture outside of familiar flavors. When I was there, I spoke to the sweet owner and she said her husband creates all of the recipes - they try to use local ingredients from the farmers markets and suppliers as their flavors are influenced by Louisiana itself. They have a few seasonal options but honestly anything you choose is delicious - it just depends if you are feeling for something fruity or creamy. They also have vegan flavors if you are lactose intolerant. Their ice cream is thick, creamy, rich, and flavorful with dimension. The service is quick and amazing and since they have so many interesting ice creams they let you sample anything you want! It's helpful that their menu has a description of what the flavor is as well. I do not live in the area and wished they shipped their ice cream. The owner mentioned looking into it, but as ice cream is temperature sensitive, they are still trouble shooting it as they want to make it an affordable alternative for out of towners. I've had a lot of ice creams in my life, but this is by far one of the best I've ever had! I was very miserable from walking in the almost 100° heat in New Orleans and wanting some sweet ice cream and I got just that and even more. I'm not too certain but I believe the owner helped us and he was very patient with me as I was reading their menu to decide which one I wanted, and after a quick sample, I went with the Bayou Mud, which was chocolate and vanilla with caramel chunks and chocolate ribbons. And... wow. I was walking down the French Quarter with a skip in my step with every spoonful. Without any exaggeration or doubt, this is one of the best ice creams I've ever had! We were visiting NO during a 100+ degree heat wave so this place was a sweet life saver!! During our 4 day stay in the city this is the only place we visited twice because --it's THAT GOOD! Had the Bayou Mud --glorious chocolate indulgence with caramel, pecans and hunks of brownie!! Next visit had the Mardi Gras Pie--bananas and moon pies deelish! (That one is more seasonal so lucky you if you get to try it!) The owner Kenny is friendly and his passion for making great ice cream is a sweet treat for the rest of us! This ice cream shop is everything. I'm 7 months pregnant and walking the streets of New Orleans on a 90 degree day is miserable. This place is beyond ice cream it put me in such a better mood. As soon as you walk in you're greeted with a big smile and friendly interactions from the owners. They offer different flavors you can try but I knew I wanted the crème de citron immediately. That flavor is so delicious! It's not too lemony or too sweet it's just a perfect blend. Other ice cream is too sweet and heavy, this was perfect. I only wish I got more scoops. Back in NOLA again to escape the northern s**w. Went to Louis Armstrong Park for an event. Knew just where I wanted to go next. Sweet Saint! Kenneth, the owner, recognized me immediately! Surprising as he hadn't seen me since last March. Sat and waited until the customers who were already there were served. I tried a new flavor. Can't remember what it's called (doh!) but it's made with goat cheese and, I think, homemade jam. OMGoodness! Amazing! Of course, I had to get my fave, Bayou Mud. Apparently, that's their best seller. Rich chocolate ice cream with bits of marshmallow, brownies and pecans. Yum! Not only is the ice cream fantastic but the owners, Kenneth and his wife, Florecita, are so nice! During one of the few times that we were the only ones in the shop, we had a very pleasant conversation. They even recommended a place where my friend can get vegetarian rice and beans.
