I thought, firstly, that the servers and owners of that food truck were really downed earth and felt like family because they know the heart and soul of what food taste like to make it Homie and comfortable and what makes it really comfort food. It was very delicious and I would definitely come back to this food cart as when I walked by it on Last Thursday I couldn't resist ordering something because real barbecue just feels like summer and it's good a whole year around. I really recommend getting any of the ribs, chicken, beef, pork because they're all great and those beans are delicious. Very good BBQ and very cheap (11.50 for ribs and a couple sides). Small menu, they do ribs and chicken and a few sides which makes it easy to choose. The collard greens here are the best I've ever had - so savory and not bitter at all. They're cooked with some meat bits so vegetarians can't even enjoy them, hah! Love this little food truck pod, they've got Conscious Sedation beer garden in there so you can enjoy a nice beer with your meal as well. Beware though, hours seem pretty irregular. read more

Came here as group of us were doing a art walk on Alberta street, was craving for some meaty food, stopped by this spot where there were few other food trucks, mind you Portland is known for food trucks as I discovered, we ordered bbq ribs that came with the potato salad And greens and , chicken wings. Mind you, I have never seen my fiancé finishing potato salad when we've ordered in the past from other place, which he did so there must be something good about this place , he liked the collard greens, meat was cooked well, I just thought it was little too much bbq sauce, meat kinda somewhat seemed like they were swimming in the sauce as I don't really like having that much sauce on the meat but however I liked the meat itself. I was hungry. For $3 I am now definitely full. Their wednesday special wing "sandwich" is a sweet and tangy delight, with three giant wings slathered in sauce atop a heroically inadequate slice of spongy white bread. The bread was perfect to change up the texture and the flavor, the wings fell off the bone and were just as tasty on or off the wing, and when some of that tangy sauce went down the wrong pipe they quietly handed me a cold bottle of water on the house, really appreciated and sweet. Stopped by this place during our stroll of this District. One of the owners crossed paths with us on the sidewalk and let us know that her wings were hot off of the smoker. That sold us on trying this place; we were burned by another food truck the night before. We ordered 2 chicken wing sandwiches for $4 total since it was a special on Wednesday which consisted of 3 WHOLE WINGS. The taste of the wings were amazing! The owner even checked in with us to ask about her food. So nice! My only wish was that they were smoked a bit longer to make them more "off the bone" but it could've been just that batch. read more

Amazing wings--3 full wings for $2 on Wednesdays. Since it was my first visit, they gave me a free side of collard greens and corn bread. All of it was great, but the barbecue was the main attraction--smoky, sweet with a pleasant kick of heat. This is the sauce I've been searching for. The wings were wonderful quality and perfectly cooked and bathed in sauce. My only regret is that I just discovered this gem, and they're moving to Alberta and 15th in two weeks, enough off my path to be problematic. Sweet Street sadly should not have the letters BBQ anywhere near their name or description. This stuff is Kingsford Charcoal Briquet grilled food at best, and not even well done at that. I took home pork ribs, pulled pork, chicken wings and hot links, sides of baked beans, collards and potato salad. The baked beans were good, really good actually, nothing else garnered a score of edible on my score card. No smoke in the meat, tough rubbery, flavorless, collard greens bitter and flavorless/unseasoned and I am suspicious that the potato salad came from a commercial tub. This might be considered southern food, or a try at soul food.... but BBQ it most definitely is not. I threw the food away. Prices were reasonable, although I am from San Francisco so my judgement on reasonable prices is skewed, then again so should my expectations on what BBQ should be as well. read more

I sit down to eat it, and low and behold, not only are there chicken wings and greens, but there is a generous portion of cornbread, several wetnaps, toothpicks, and napkins. The chicken literally FALLS OFF the bone-- I'd go to pick up a wing, and by the time it got to my mouth, half the meat would have fallen off back onto the slice of bread used to soak up all the sauce because it's JUST THAT TENDER JUICY. Sauce, A+. Cornbread, A. Chicken, A+, Collard Greens, A+. I am definitely coming back to this place. A lot. I was sitting there licking sauce off my fingers like i was a 6yr old. The greens were not cooked with a turnip in them I can tell by the flavor and the baked beans, well lets just say they don't know what the bottle of black strap molasses looks like by the taste of them. Real good baked beans have a very dark look to them from simmering in the oven for hours in all the brown sugar juices and MOLASSES! Yes, as good as it gets- for the price, speed, and taste. This 5 star review comes after 4 visits- all of them different experiences, all of them positive. The greens and the beans- worth a visit for these two items alone. If you're a fan of the pork rib, get in line. They serve a good plate of vittles. read more

Unassuming lil' pipsqueak cart, tucked in the lot adjoining N. Lombard and N. MLK jr. Blvd.... Love their ribs and home-made sauce! Po' boys are just too "rich" ...! This cart seems to have decidedly scaled back hours o' operation in the winter. There used to be several other carts in this lot, now only "Philly's Best" (but Portland's 9th or 10th best, by my reckoning ;p) remains along w/Sweet Street. Gotta say, I'm a little bit emotionally invested in the long-term success of this cart, I just love the name just like the food. The folks are super nice as well, and the scenic route getting hither and yon is more than justified when you're able to pick up these folks' succulent meats (keep the plentiful, tangy sauce on the side, in cups, for me!) and the corn bread. This "BBQ" inspired me to create a Yelp account to warn people to stay as far away as possible. I knew the prices were too good to be true. Ribs were chewy, pulled pork was dry, baked beans tasted as if they were right out of a can with ground beef, corn on the cob was over cooked beyond comprehension and everything tasted like a bargain brand of Kraft BBQ sauce. Not a hint of wood to smelled or tasted.. This is a insult to Barbecue everywhere. Please do not allow yourself to go through the disappointment I have just experienced. P.S. This was terrible. I ordered pork ribs and when I got home I found beef ribs. They obviously never saw the inside of a smoker. Horribly tough, chewy and they tasted "sour". I'm honestly worried about developing food poisoning in a few hours. They have a couple of rusted out smokers out back that haven't been used in quite some time. Don't go. Reesers potato salad, yuk!. I've been to my fair share of rib fests, and these pork ribs are AMAZING. Life changing. You get the perfect blend of smokiness from the smoker to BBQ from the sauce without either being too overwhelming. Half rack is a generous portion to share with 2-3 people with lots of meat on each rib. A must have stop in Alberta. read more
