With every purchase you are giving a youth a chance at a new future. How cool is that! Coffee for a good cause. I loved the space and the coffee and took home a bag of beans from Brazil. The Americano was hot and delicious, and the service was amazing. I loved they have foster youth working in the store. Go, and tip heavily. It's a great coffee spot.

There were two female baristas and one guy who seemed…read moreto be a manager working with the Covenant Coffee non-profit from his talking about working with foster youth and hiring decisions with the two employees. He had a tattoo near the corner of his eye and was wearing a jersey. It really disturbed me about how he seemed to be harassing the baristas. He told one of them "your tummy is sticking out again," when she said "it's because I just ate," he said "no it's always sticking out." He them proceeded to complain to them about another employee who "decided to get knocked up right when things were getting busy," and said some other things about maternity leave. The most apalling thing was he then asked the barista "if you're pregnant and found out your son was gonna be retarded, would you do the un-Catholic thing?" She tried to brush him off by saying "it would be too late," to which he made a joke about using a "coat hanger." Truly the most apalling thing I've ever witnessed at any establishment. I never leave reviews at all, but I had to report this because it seems like this guy involved with management is bullying and harassing the employees. And this non-profit works with foster youth?! Edit: Thanks Randy for the follow up message, I really appreciate it and agree everyone deserves a chance to learn and grow from mistakes. I'll still be grabbing coffee at Covenant whenever I'm in town. Thanks again for the follow up, I really appreciate it.

More recently, I'm only in town a few days out of the week, but I make a point to visit this location or their other location, Mokhamena on Panama, each day I'm here to, at a minimum, pick up two for myself--the first one is to function and the second is to savor. There was a time I'd pick up the party-size for my coworkers when I liked them... but alas, times have changed so more for me. The staff there are always friendly and awesome, and on days that I'm lucky enough, I get to actually enjoy the cafe. So grateful you guys are here and sharing flavors from across the world.

I LOVED these cakes. Last year, I bought and shipped more than six cakes across the country to relatives on special occasions. The cakes were wonderful!!!!! The shipping was way high, but the cakes were worth it. Then a weird thing happened. My go-to person no longer worked there and shipping-order had to be placed a month or more in advance, not just a week, as their previous website promised, so couldn't get a cake out with two weeks notice last attempt. Nada No Never mind I was a repeat loyal customer. Then, today, I started to place another order for my Dad and the cost -with the shipping rate for the $38. cake (including the cake)- used to be about $105. which was already outrageous, but the cakes were so good. But today, that shipping rate went up to OVER $138. plus the cost of the cake which makes it over 168.00!!!! to ship a $38. cake? Give me a break! They have totally LOST my repeat-repeat-repeat-repeat,etc. business as well as one of their best-ever employees. Get a clue. You turned magic into sludge with that move. -- Update: 6/11/15: Update: So odd, they had someone -apparently or claiming to be from the bakery- send me a "compliment" here to thank me for that "positive" review... obviously they didn't see the ONE star and only read the first line... Also, after losing my business due to their outrageous shipping hike above and beyond their previously already outrageous shipping cost, we went to another company for the cake we wanted to send our loved one. We got a similarly GREAT CAKE out of NYC -also shipped across the country- and their costs for frozen professional guaranteed overnight delivery were around $19. Sweet surrender how disappointed you have me I've been a customer for so many many years, but after my friend worked there in the customer service area and I was just told of how horrible this places is I definitely do not wanna go there anymore. Where do I start let see---with how unfair you guys are with the workers front and or back and how disgustingly, the owner starts everyone as minimum paying it does not matter if u have 5yrs of experience. We are in 2024 economics is so high in California and how can you guys start people at $16.50. Secondly, overworking all of your stuff, making them stress and overwhelming to the point that they are literally crying of how overwhelming it is in that bakery and finally a high-end bakery that I thought was homemade freshly done is such a lie. All your guises recipes are from a box. Sweet surrender is the BEST place for cupcakes, cakes, and other pastry deserts. After eating cupcakes from here, no other cupcake compares. Their cakes and cupcakes are extremely moist and seem to just melt in your mouth, and they use the most delicious butter cream icings. My all time favorite is their pink champagne cupcake, it is absolutely delicious! Not only are their deserts amazing, but their facility carries a various amount of decorative items from season to year round! They carry wine and cocktail glasses and ornaments for the Christmas season, you name it, this place has got it! I have visited this shop for many years and have recommended it to my friends. The cakes are made with fine ingredients and taste buttery homemade. My last visit was disappointing just this week. It wasn't the bakery items that disappointed but the new atmosphere. The person waiting on me could have been the owner. She was not unpleasant exactly but definitely not friendly. This is my favorite place to get sweets. I come in very often and try to treat myself and my boyfriend to a few cupcakes when I can. My favorite one to get is Pink Chamagne and sometimes I'll get the Confetti cake. This place completely satisfies my cravings whenever I have them. To top it off, they are more than just a bakery!! They also have this sort of boutique that sells beautiful clothing, accessories, etc. I have never had a problem at this place and I look forward to going every single time! read more
