Good to go experience at Sweet Sweet Kitchen H Street. Stopped by to try out the $15 Monday special. Picked up a fish and brown stewed chicken platters. Flavors were delicious and staff were helpful with recommendations. Made with love. I would return!

Food was delicious and huge portions. Well worth the money. It was my first time having Sierra Leonian food so the guy working gave me a sampler plate. The place seemed more of a summer vibe than winter but that didn't matter. I can't wait to come back. They mention they do fufu Friday. Can't wait to come back. It was SO GOOD

    Brown Stew Chicken

Went to sweet sweet kitchen today for lunch, my first time going. Got the brown stew chicken, it was spicy and delicious. Only thing missing was the bad service you normally get at Jamaican restaurants. The lady with dreads behind the counter was pleasant and nice. Will definitely go again.

Listen baby when I want cassava leaf and Jollof rice, I go here!! The food is so good. I have literally waited for the jollof rice to finish cooking because I don't want to go anywhere else and get it. The people that work there are nice and have great service and they always give good recommendations. I go there so much they know my order. I love this place. There is also space for you to sit and wait the atmosphere is good for carry out. O yes they also give you a lot of food so it's worth the price which isn't unreasonable.

Although they don't honor the 5% off from the Yelp app, I did thoroughly enjoy my jollof rice and cassava! The spice level was perfect and it was filled with chicken and oxtail. The jollof rice was seasoned well. The restaurant is a pretty big and it does have an outside area as well. The food is served buffet style which at first I was on the fence about but everything was hot and fresh! The pricing was pretty reasonable as well so I will definitely be back.

Amazing food! A little oily though. Super kind service but would definitely recommend going there earlier rather than later because they run out of things super fast. It's more of a grab and go place than a sit down but they have a little bit of seating.

This is a very clean establishment. The aroma called me in from the street and I'm so glad I stopped in to try the food. They serve Jamaican and African (Sierra Leone) cuisine. I had the potatoe leave greens because I've been missing them for so long living on the west coast. It was just as I remembered it should be. They don't have pepper sauce which was disappointing and the plantain was simply ok but the main dish, the service, the cleanliness & friendliness of the establishment definite makes up for that minor inconvenience. Highly recommend this place if you enjoy egusi, cassava leaf, potato greens etc.

Sweet Sweet Kitchen is the fusion restaurant of your dreams that you didn't know you needed. A marriage between Jamaican and Sierra Leonian flavors, this H street fixture packs a huge flavor punch. My favorite combination is the jerk chicken plate with jollof rice and cabbage. Other strong highlights include brown stew chicken, oxtail, cassava leaves, and plaintain. The servers (shoutout RIhanna!) are very kind and will give you extra sauce and hefty portions upon request. In a busy H street with numerous options, consider Sweet Sweet Kitchen for a weekday comfort meal.

    Tola

I stopped here for takeout and tried their tola over rice with plantains. I've never had food from Sierra Leone before, so I was really curious to try it and had had this spot recommended to me. For me, none of the food really hit. The sauce was a little bland, the meat was a bit tough, and the plantains (though fried fresh in front of me) were kind of chalky and not sweet, like they weren't fully ripe. Overall, it wasn't bad food, but it wasn't good either, and I didn't feel compelled to finish my meal. The good news is they give you super generous portions, so one dish could easily feed you 2-3 meals, which helps justify the $20 price point. Still, I thought the flavor wasn't really there to justify the price. I won't speak to authenticity or anything like that because I'm not familiar with how tola normally tastes, but I definitely know when meat is tough or plantains are dry, so for me it was just okay. I wouldn't go back based on this experience, but they have a wide variety of dishes and for all I know the Jamaican side of the menu is a lot stronger. The other thing to flag is the prices don't match the menu - the tola was listed as 15.50 but rung up at 18.50 (plus mandatory 3% service surcharge). I brought it up at the time but they said all items on the menu ring up at the same price, which doesn't make a lot of sense, because then why would you list different prices by them on the menu?

I randomly stumbled upon this restaurant as I walked down H Street looking for a bite to eat. I'm a big fan of both Caribbean and African foods, so I was excited to take a look at the menu and see that this restaurant offers both. The menu is small, and I appreciate that because it means that the restaurant will likely master whatever dishes it offers for consumption. Aside from the food, the restaurant also has a small number of soft drinks and water to offer as well. I also appreciated that they let me sample what they were serving that day, as a lot of the items sounded good and I couldn't make up my mind. I ended up going with the oxtail. It was pricy, but I must admit that they give you a nice portion of meat. The combo also came with two sides - I chose jollof and plantain. The jollof was good, and the plantain was perfectly ripe, but I'm annoyed that it only came with 3 measly pieces of plantain. As much as the combo cost, they certainly could have increased that portion size. Even though I didn't order it this time, the curry chicken that I sampled was GREAT. It's perfectly spicy and very flavorful. I will likely get that or the cassava leaf next time I return. Food aside, the inside of the restaurant is small, with a few tables to dine at on the inside, and a fairly sizable patio with tables on the outside. I initially wanted to dine inside the restaurant, but the tables looked like they hadn't been wiped down since they built the place. Other than that, I enjoyed my experience here, and will definitely be back to try the other menu items.

Would stay far away from here! I found them on google went to place an order my order was $340 I was given a confirmation code and wait time. I called the restaurant and was given attitude and told my order wasn't seen I asked for a manger to find my order they asked me to come in and they would fix it. After arriving they gave more attitude and still did not fix my order only asking me to cancel the original and pay again. Why would I do that??? Not only that but your website made me order on clover and it's your payment processor at the restaurant how are you telling me I'm doing something wrong. Stay far far away from these scum they give Jamaica a bad taste

Food is great here, I normally visit the location in silver spring. The food is pretty much consistent at both locations. My favorite is the curry goat. The best in the DMV area. The one difference here I noticed a kiosk to place your order and there is outdoor seating available here.

The fries were hot, golden, and crispy. Chicken Pasta: Rich, creamy sauce balanced nicely by the capers and fresh lemon squeeze, with generous portions of chicken. Caesar Salad: Crisp romaine, plenty of parmesan, and crunchy croutons--classic and refreshing. Ted's Tart: The nostalgic rainbow sprinkles with whipped cream made for a fun, sweet finish to the meal. The real frustration came with the check. Between the added service fee/surcharge and the prompt for standard tipping on top of that, the final bill felt disproportionately high for casual neighborhood dining. Hidden fees stacking up on top of regular menu prices takes away from what would have otherwise been an easy 4- or 5-star meal. Great kitchen output, but management really needs to rethink the fee creep.
