My order: Large BYOB bowl ($15.90) Base (up to 3 options) : forbidden rice, coconut rice, and kelp noodle slaw) Protein (up to 2 options): yellowfin tuna (4.5 ounces) Sauces (up to 3): yuzu koshu, add extra, on the side Free toppings (up to 6): cilantro, chili orange, cucumber, pickled ginger, pineapple, seaweed salad Options: No sesame seeds Cons: There was some black marks on the inside of my bowl- probably from where they handled the bowl. I had a gift card to use here and tried to order online for pickup but couldn't figure out how to checkout with a gift card on their app. I went in store to order and the two guys working told me their system in store hasn't been able to take giftcards for over a year so just fyi if you plan on using a Sweetfin gift card here. You have to select credit card and then it gives you the option to add gift card...took us awhile to figure out. Anyway, I got the yuzu salmon bowl and the guava lemonade. Honestly everything was very bland and not very flavorful. There are probably better poke spots out there. The best part about this place are the employees. The two guys working the front were so nice and patient and willing to go above and beyond to help. I wish I got their names so I could give them a shout out. There were some tables outside to dine outside. One thing that I found weird was that they don't make the bowl in front of you they make it in the back. Since there was no one there when we got there, we got our food quickly. Location: I don't believe there's a public restroom here. There's street parking everywhere, but it does share parking with all of the other retail shops. If you visit the Hammer Museum, you can park in the parking lot, but I'm unsure if you have to pay. The Bento Box comes with Spicy Tuna over bamboo rice, Yuzu Salmon over citrus kale, yuzu truffle avocado dip with taro chips, and chili-ginger noodles, All of them were delicious, but I especially loved the truffle avocado dip with taro chips. I used to really like Sweetfin. What I liked about it: Ingredients: They have very unique sauces and bases that you can't find elsewhere. Their fish is fresh (I guess that should be a necessity for a poke place). What I don't like about it anymore: Their portion size: A large is still very small. I also couldn't tell if they cheap out on my fish because I only picked one type of fish. Toppings: Crispy Onion and Garlic are burnt. I know they should be crispy, but burnt? My bowl was so bitter as a result of the burnt onion and garlic. Environment: barely any indoor dining. Only 4 tables outside. The inside is so crowded, especially when people are in line to order. To preface, I ordered this through Postmates, so I'm not sure how the store looks or how nice the service is. The food came significantly earlier than was scheduled, so that was great. I was disappointed by the small portion size at first glance, especially with the additional charges through Postmates, but it was filling! The food was pretty good in terms of taste! I've never ordered from sweetfin before but she has and she thought it was good enough to warrant having their food again. As I was placing the order, I asked her whether or not I should upgrade to large for another $4 and change. She said it probably wasn't necessary because she always gets filled up on a bowl. Additionaly, I didn't think that either of us received 3 full scoops of protein in either of our bowls. The main thing that bothered me was the size of the bowls... This was unfortunate since I love seaweed salad with my poke bowls. This is not like most poke spots--instead of building your bowl right in front of you, you order at the counter and they make your bowl in the back kitchen. However, they definitely impressed! They have preset bowls to choose from or you can build your own, and they have a solid variety of yummy bases to try! Their fish is fresh, and they have a TON of toppings to choose from like chopped kale, wasabi tobiko (which was actually pretty strong), charred habanero, radish, and mango! My general mindset when it comes to poke is that the spots that do too much with the topping choices tend to not be that great, but the quality of the ingredients here make this spot the exception. I had to try their forbidden rice, which is black wild rice, and I really enjoyed it--it had a looser texture than their bamboo rice and was lightly seasoned. Their sauces are a bit on the saltier side, so I would ask them to go a little light on it, but otherwise they were light and flavorful! Although their bowls are a bit pricey, they were still very filling and satisfying, and I could forgive it given the quality of ingredients used. Maybe it's not super "traditional" because they add extra ingredients and options that are not typical to poke, but I think that's exactly what makes Sweetfin special (and their poke extra tasty). I had the Large Spicy Tuna (Creamy Togarashi, Rice, Cauliflower, Slaw, Avocado, Crispy Onions, Hijiki, Edamame, Cucumber) and liked it so much that I ordered the exact same thing a week later. The only reason that I can think of for the low stars is that it's pricier than other poke places, and it's not super traditional. Located along Westwood blvd, street parking is the only way to go. There are free parking lots in Westwood but not adjacent to the shop. When I went, there was only one person working the cash register and also handing out orders so it got a little backed up during lunch rush hour. There are some signature bowls you can choose from or you can simply build your own bowl which is what I did. While there are a ton of toppings to choose from, I don't like how they limit you to only 5 complimentary toppings. I know plenty of other poke places that let you choose as many toppings as you want. As far as the fish goes, it's good quality but I didn't think the portion size justifies the "large" bowl that I got. Not to mention, the bowls are pricey and it can add up quickly for it being a "fast-casual" place. If you're in the market for poke, the quality here is good but I wouldn't say it's a giant step above other poke places with the same quality, better price point and the option of unlimited toppings. read more

To start, the lady who helped me (forgot to ask her name, sorry) - top notch! Friendly, made suggestions, knows the menu, etc - hit all the right notes! The food was good, got the sweetbox and spicy cucumber salad. A little pricey but not outrageous. Quality ingredients, but the salmon was a little fishy noting it was not as fresh as I'm used to (same or one day catch) and a bit sparse. One suggested addition would be a seasoned rice vinegar in the cucumber salad - it was a little stark with sesame oil and roasted garlic. The house lemonades are great.
