Corner restaurant with a huge space inside and outside. Since they are at the end of the shopping area, there were a lot of parking spaces on the side. Their bathroom was large with two stalls and kept clean. And they had TVs playing sports channels if you need a place to watch a game. We had one of their rolls (pink roll), tonkotsu ramen and sushi combo B. Overall, their rolls and nigiri were ok. The rice weren't seasoned well and the nigiri felt like there were too much rice and also packed hard (not like loosely packed where it would break away as you chew but packed so much you felt you were eating a mouth full of rice and not sure where the fish was). They also used the artificial paste wasabi which doesn't have much flavor. The ginger slices were good; moist, sweet and gingery. The ramen was nothing special. The noodles also clumped up together so much it felt overcooked or left out too long. We haven't tried their Korean dishes but their sushi and ramen selection was just ok. The management was super friendly and kind.

Amazing little sushi restaurant offering interesting rolls, sashimi + nigiri, and a variety of other Japanese and Korean dishes. There's something for everyone here! My friend and I ordered the Hamachi Lovers roll, the Sensual Pleasure roll, and the Eel + Avocado roll. Excellent fish quality and generous cuts. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Big filling portions. Restaurant is clean and offers a nice, upscale ambiance. Service is fantastic. Very pleasant dining experience overall!

We liked the extensive selections of dishes. We ordered a Korean style sashimi salad and a Japanese style poki bowl. We loved both! There were 2 waitpersons managing multiple tables effectively. Go early if you want fast service.

Overview: my new go-to sushi place, quality of the rolls were great, one of the best sushi places in San Diego, attentive service too ---- The rolls were great and affordable. My favorites were the Torched Salmon Roll ($13) and the Super Dragon Roll ($22.95). The Super Dragon Roll was awesome with a whole piece of eel on top with masago, bonito flakes, and eel sauce and on the inside was tempura shrimp, imitation crab, and avocado. Crispy Rice was a cool concept, the rice was a little burnt or refried bc it was so brown, also didn't see a price for it on the menu, but the flavors were alright. The rolls altogether were really great, probably the best I've had in terms of roll quality in San Diego. ---- Notes: - shares a plaza with other businesses; plenty of parking - inside decor was modern and gave an elevated ambiance to the sushi restaurant - one menu shows the prices and the other shows what some of the rolls look like ---- Overall: if you're craving sushi, this is the best place to satisfy that hunger, price point is affordable and even for their special rolls they are comparable to other places in sd and great quality and portion size, a must-try for sushi

Great spot for Asian fusion and so reasonably priced! The bibimbap was perfect with a huge portion. All of the appetizers were delicious including the stuffed jalapeños and the calamari which was insanely crispy. The owner went around to each individual table and made sure everyone was enjoying their meals -- she was amazing. Also, their sushi rolls are 50% off if you dine in, and 40% off for takeout. Amazing deal!

My friend and I are always in search for Japanese restaurants to try when we are on vacation in the San Diego area. We came to Carmel Sushi on a Wednesday for a late lunch around 2pm. The restaurant located in a strip mall had plenty of parking. The restaurant was fairly big with indoor and outdoor patio seating. The atmosphere was nice, modern, refreshing and simple. When we arrived there were only 5 tables occupied. Grace greeted us and sat us a a table with menus. The menus are quit extensive, lots of choices and lunch specials. Grace was very friendly and attentive, as she was the hostess, server and the bus boy all in one. We ordered a couple beers while looking over the menu. I ordered the Sashimi Lunch, great price for 6 pieces of sashimi, rice, soup and salad. My friend ordered Salmon, Yellowtail and Eel Nigiri. Plus a Spicy Tuna and Salmon Skin Hand Roll. We also shared a Hamachi Lovers Roll. All the fish was fresh and tasted very good. Presentation was good. I did notice all the wonderful noodle soups that customers were ordering. We will certainly be back to try other items on the menu. Atmosphere: nicely decorated. Service: good. Food: good.

Great local spot for sushi and Asian food! Loved the Salmon Lover's roll and the eel and avocado roll. Special shoutout to the soft shell crab hand roll (not pictured bc we devoured it when it got to the table). We also ordered the chicken katsu curry. It came with a good amount of chicken and vegetables (big pro for me). We'll definitely be back!

This was a delightful experience! The sushi rolls were surprisingly unique in taste. I wish I tried the sea urchin as sashimi instead of nigiri though. I haven't been able to find a lot of places offering as such in the area. The waitstaff was pleasant. They have a lot on the menu, but I feel like it's Korean owned? The decor is lovely and homey. It wasn't too hard to get seats on a weekend night :)

We had the best dinner ever here recently...and I finally tried the sushi which was super delicious and beautifully prepared. My family all had different dishes and loved everything we ordered...it was just one of the best meals we've had together, with kind and excellent service, a peaceful setting, and every appetizer and dish being outstanding (and the most delicious and elegant side salads we've ever had...)! Meals like this really make a family get together special and memorable...sushi especially highly recommended!

My favorite spot to have lunch with friends and family! Felt inspired to leave this review as I'm currently eating my 5th bulgogi hot pot of 2026 lol. I'm sure their other soups are excellent but man am I a loyalist to this one!! Tender meat, flavorful broth and perfectly cooked glass noodles and veggies. It's my official pick me up restaurant dish!! Service is always great and fast and the food is consistently a hit. Never too crowded in the afternoon. Keep up the great work Carmel Sushi!

Very welcoming place for my family. The food was great and we probably ordered too much after looking through their extensive menu. The manager even gave us a little break and held our baby, giving him a little tour of the restaurant. It felt like a close friend was having us over for dinner which makes your meal even tastier. I only wish we lived closer so we could enjoy this spot more often.

I had a delicious dinner here! They have a wide range of options on the menu. I got the salmon hand roll and the caterpillar roll and it was so fresh and tasted amazing. For dessert, we split the mango and chocolate mochi which both had great flavor and textures. The servers were very attentive, continually filling up my water cup. The ambience is very nice and modern.

    Chicken Teriyaki Entree
    Bella A.

Amazing experience here! I ordered the chicken teriyaki entree and a california roll, very reasonable pricing! Only $7 for the roll for dine-in! The miso soup was great--not too salty, good flavor. The california roll was delicious! Really fresh. The teriyaki chicken was pretty good, it was darker meat and not chicken breast. The ambiance in the restaurant was lovely, they have really cool lighting! The service was fantastic--everyone was very kind! We were checked up on multiple times for water fill-ups and someone even came by and gave us a free drink "because it was a Friday night!" Great experience here, thank you so much!

They were out of my side dishes, out of rice for tomorrow, and ultimately had no rice at all--yet I was still charged full price. What's frustrating is that two different servers encouraged me to order the combo meal in the first place. I was dining in and also placing a takeout order, but I never received everything that was included in what I purchased. As someone who occasionally does paid collaborations with restaurants, I want to be clear that this was not a collaboration. It was simply a regular customer experience. It's eye-opening to see how some restaurants operate when you're just another paying customer. Experiences like this make you wonder whether the level of service changes when promotions or influencers are involved. Being in "ninja mode" definitely gives you a different perspective. At the end of the day, customers should receive what they're paying for--or be charged accordingly when key items are unavailable. Restaurants need to do better.

First off, there is free parking available, just circle around the building until you see a garage entrance for retail parking. Two hours for free! Let me first explain the aesthetics of this place. Clean and modern with mid century feel accented with greenery throughout. Please note that they won't seat you until most of your party is present. We came here for Happy Hour which was from 4-6pm from Tuesday to Sunday! This is fantastic that HH includes the weekend!!!! To start, got a wellness shot which had a meld of juices and ginger. A great drink to ready your palate. For cocktails, I tried the Suika Spritz, which was refreshing! The Absolutely Pho-nomenal definitely tasted like cold Pho broth but spiked. It wasn't my favorite drink, but glad I tried it nonetheless. Of course we ordered the $1 oysters, and ordered all three - Baja, Pacific Northwest, & East Coast. It came with some Asian fusion sauces to dress our oysters. My fave was the Baja as these were the freshest! All three were smooth and non briny. On the HH menu we also tried - Bulgogi Birria Vampiro - Tender meat with bulgogi seasoned beef on top of a tostada. Really liked the meld of the two cultures in this dish. Duck Liver Mousse - Comes with rustic bread & crème fraiche. Very duck forward. I liked this because it was rich with flavor. Stone Crab Taco - Loved the nod to Loganisa in this taco! This was by far, my favorite protein dish on the HH menu!!!! Regular Menu - Mango Nasturium Kimchi Salad - I absolutely loved this vibrant and fresh dish!!!! I had to go back for second and thirds! Shishito Peppers with Bonito Flakes - This was definitely a fun and flavorful dish with lots of umami. Dessert - Hotteok and Vanilla Ice Cream - this was my favorite dessert! The pancakes were flaky and delicious!! Bonbunja Tiramisu - Beware! This has a strong coffee taste. It reminded of the strength and flavor profile of a Vietnamese coffee. I can't believe it's not cheesecake - Definitely a mix of a brûlée but with a cheesecake flavor. Confusing but works lol. We met the executive chef, Kyler, who explained and served some of dishes we ordered. The entire staff was so accommodating and even reminded us if we needed our parking validated! Our water never ran empty and our dishes were promptly taken away as we finished. Definitely a place to visit during HH since they offer amazing food and cocktail choices.

They don't have too many offerings for food maybe six appetizers five or six entree choices in about three dessert options. There was a Padres game tonight so they were sold out of several things but I opted for one of those substitution items which was a prosciutto wrapped seared ahi steak on a bed of forbidden rice and charred baby bok choy. I was doubtful how it would taste to have Pursuit wrapped around a raw piece of Ahi but it surprisingly works! The presentation is one of the most unique I've ever seen. See the picture. Almost seems like someone squirted soap suds all over the dish but it was tasty. I probably wouldn't come again because I like more choices on the food side of the menu and because I found out when the check came that they automatically had a 20% gratuity and I was only a party of one! Thus i give it only 4 stars.
