sweetgreen has yummy tasting salads that make you feel like you're able to enjoy your healthy food. Though it is pricey for the amount of salad, you're paying for the local and freshness of the salads. I loved the rad thai, the creamy dressing made you feel like you were eating a healthy pad thai! The brussels and chicken fall special was good as well. Who knew sweet potato would make for such a good addition to a salad? Their housemade drinks are only $2.50/cup (with free refills I think) which is a steal I think. Their Jasmine Green Tea was super legit and tea tasting. This sweetgreen has it figured out. I've said before, the creation of a harmonious salad is honestly an advanced art form and sweetgreen has it on lock. The harvest bowl and chicken pesto parm are my favorite, with kale Caesar coming in at a close third - but let's be honest - you can't go wrong with any salad you choose here. I love how customizable their bowls are, in addition to how fresh and tasty their ingredients are. Lunchtime can be hectic so order you bowl for pickup ahead of time and avoid the line! What's special about this particular sweetgreen (as I've been to several locations) is that they do very well on consistency. Portion sizes have all been about the same since I've been coming here (about a year) and always leave me full and satisfied. If you ever aren't happy about an order, email sweetgreen customer service. They are so nice and will go out of their way to make it up to you. Once I had a bowl where the dressing had been left out, emailed sg about it, and got a credit for a full salad the very next day! This is probably one of my favorite salads places . I was visiting Chicago and I was looking for a fresh salad . I have been to sweetgreen in other states . So when I found that Chicago had one I was so excited . I did a create your own salad . And it was great and the portion size is perfect. The customer size wasn't the best . There were only 3 people making salads and the line was pretty long . So I think adding another one or two people could of helped the line move a bit faster. Delicious! Even though this is a chain restaurant, I always find their food to be fresh and delicious no matter which location I visit. I got the seasonal Elote bowl which was supposed to be an arugula base, but I got kale instead since they were out of arugula. The toppings included: goat cheese, roasted corn and red peppers, purple cabbage, tomatoes, quinoa, spicy sunflower seeds, tortilla chips, cilantro, and jalapeño cilantro lime vinaigrette. We just used this forced option because an order was submitted incorrectly and we needed help. The text option is a farce. It's automated. The company has successfully set themselves up to avoid any human contact with anyone needing any type of customer service. In addition, they have the worst website. It took over 30+ minutes to make a delivery order because it forced us to re-enter our order over and over, which is how the mistake happened. This fast-casual spot is right next to my school so I thought I'd grab a bite to eat here on a slow winter day. The harvest bowl sounded right up my alley. It has the following: Organic wild rice, shredded kale, apples, sweet potatoes, roasted chicken, local goat cheese, toasted almonds, balsamic vinaigrette. The bowl was wonderful! I was worried that it would be carb-heavy because rice was the first ingredient, but it was very salad-y yet hearty. I loved each of the elements. The roasted chicken was glorious, not just pre-roasted strips. The apples were fresh and crisp. The sweet potatoes were warm and roasty. My only issue with the salad was the goat cheese, which was delightfully fresh, but stayed in one wet clump instead of dispersing around the salad. I would also substitute quinoa for the rice in the future. At noon, the place was hopping. Very busy and I had to wait after getting my bowl to grab a place to sit. read more

Infuriating experience every time. They are a superrr busy location but it's always a total gongshow in there. Even when I've ordered ahead there's some problem & I've never waited less than 25min (even though I got a notification that my order was READY 10min before). I love Sweetgreen but this location is unreliable. It has twice been closed when the website indicated it would be open. I contacted the store's number and it was not in service. It wasn't until two weeks later when the store was surprisingly closed again during business hours. I searched until I found an updated number, called, and was not able to reach a person except a corporate/call-center drone through text (!). I texted and was told that the store is closed early due to a snow storm. It's sunny outside and is going to be sunny for the rest of the day! There was no closed sign on the store front or any notice on the website, just locked doors. Frustrating and not a proper way to treat your customers. Absolute deliciousness! Ingredients are always fresh, salads are creative and bowls are filling, all in all very clean, satisfying and mostly healthy food. Kale Caesar is my usual go-to, followed closely by the humus tahini salad, and the curried cauliflower bowl. The staff are very nice and friendly. TAMMY especially is so friendly, always very kind and pleasant. Everyone there works hard and fast too. The lady making my salad forgot ingredients (didn't notice it until I got back to my office), barely tossed the salad and gave me much smaller servings of the toppings than the normal amount. First time trying Sweetgreen! There was no line when I came in the afternoon, and the staff was quite sweet. I made my own bowl, with a mix of kale/spinach/arugula (though next time might just stick with kale) and added a ton of different toppings including raw beets, bean sprouts, roasted sesame tofu, roasted squash, warm portobello mix, with the miso sesame ginger dressing on the side. Actually loved the miso sesame ginger dressing, it was a really unique flavor combo. I also really liked the warm portobello mix and the roasted squash, which were quite flavorful. A colleague and his baby daughter were in town, and we needed to find a stroller- and kid-friendly place that would also accommodate a vegan and nut allergies. The staff is extremely helpful and knowledgeable. And they're friendly and accommodating. I had the vegan shroom bowl which was very tasty and just as described. Lots of fresh greens, tasty tofu, and marinated mushrooms. I was thinking that there might be too much food and was ready to take home leftovers, but I ate the whole thing. It was that good. I also appreciate the environmental friendliness of the place. Definitely a go-to for a downtown Chicago lunch at Michigan and Randolph. I love the concept of this restaurant-- a small, but well-curated menu focusing on sustainable, healthy meals that can be customized to one's dietary restrictions or preferences. It's aesthetically pleasing inside, and my meal (the Harvest Bowl) was excellent. I've seriously been craving another Harvest Bowl since my meal there, it was so good. If only there was a sweetgreen where I live! OK, now for the negative: the service was pretty lacking here. First off, they were out of chicken (which is the protein in most of the dishes) and wouldn't have more for 15 minutes. When did they tell me this? After they had made my whole bowl. I did choose the steelhead trout instead as my protein, which actually ended up being super good, but they still charged me an extra $5 for it, which I thought was a little ridiculous, considering the fact that it certainly wasn't my fault they planned poorly and ran out of the protein that actually comes with the dish. I also got the distinct impression that the person making my bowl had very little idea what she was doing, and she seemed pretty confused about the whole thing. Then, right after she made my bowl, she took her apron off, grabbed her stuff, and got in what was a quickly-forming line herself, to have the one person left working make her a meal. I get that peoples' shifts have to end sometime, but I felt badly for the lone person behind the counter, and for the long line of people waiting to be served. I'm into it! I read about sweetgreen online and was charmed by its humble beginnings - founded by college students, healthy but fun, allegedly affordable. I would say prices are not necessarily any cheaper than other peer hipster salad places, but "healthy and fun"? 100%. The only issues I had here are unique to my situation as a small (5'1) person - namely, that the window aisle from which you order went way over my head, making it tough to make an order, and that a lot of the meals were pretty dense for someone who usually eats 300-400 calorie increments. I got the kale Caesar and it was really great (about $12). The fact that you can opt for light dressing is fantastic. The Caesar was bright and interesting - I loved that it was a mix of kale and romaine(?) because I'm definitely partial to the latter even though caesars often use the former. I'm generally not a fan of lime dressing but theirs was really tasty and not overly acidic. The atmosphere, moreover, was great - SO HIPSTER. I sat on the top of the cubes (you'll know what I mean when you go in) and felt like a champ. Crowd is definitely hip (I didn't really fit in but did try). Salads are really well-crafted, with well-balanced, thoughtful flavor combinations. They nail the ratio of greens, other ingredients, and dressing. Try the harvest bowl - it's a healthy, filling meal with lots of temperature contrast (cold apples, warm rice, warm chicken), texture contrast (creamy goat cheese, crunchy almonds, crispy apples, soft sweet potato), and umami ingredients. I work in the attached building so I'm here pretty frequently. They're kind of pricey for a salad, but that's what you get for being at Michigan and Randolph. Food isn't consistent- quality of the salad depends on the attitude of the person making it. There's one person in particular I seem to always get always has an attitude, she misses ingredients from their menu- listed salads on a regular basis, asks how much dressing (light, medium or heavy) but always makes it heavy, regardless of what you say. I was introduced to sweetgreen in LA and after starving all day to go to the Starbucks Reserve Roastery only to have my sandwich given away to someone else, I was grateful to bump into this sweetgreen. I always get the kale Caesar without the chicken because I am vegetarian; however, at this location, the kind lady asked me if I wanted to replace the chicken with something else. The first door to get in here is VERY heavy. I'll grant you that I am newly recovered from the flu and have lost some of my muscle mass, but still! I was pumped to try this location as it is close to my condo--aka very bad for my wallet but good for my taste buds and healthy eating intention. When I came in it was post-lunch rush so I didn't have to endure the long lines for which this place is known. The kale Chicken Caesar is my go-to. I like that they mix the kale in with normal salad greens as I can't do 100 percent kale. The croutons--really more of a parmesan crisp--and shaved parmesan are what make this salad. I'm perplexed as to why they added grape tomatoes, but no biggie, as I am omniverous. I look forward to returning to try some of the warm bowls and seasonal selections. There is also a build-your-own-bowl option. As far as ambiance it is bright and airy, fast-casual. I went to Sweetgreen (SG) everyday for more than a year, and now I will NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN. *I was/am a 'black' level as far as the SG Loyalty Program which means absolutely nothing. The reason I will never eat at any SG again is that their take-out program does not provide accurate orders, and SG management does not care. I spent more than $2500 in a year at SG, and more than 50 of my orders had at least one error. I sent emails and received credits for any/all order I vocalized a compliant about however nothing was done to improve accuracy. The types of errors ranged from; - wrong green; IE: I requested Romaine and they would give me Kale - Missing salad dressing: This one happens ALL THE TIME - substitute vegetable: sometimes they add thing like CORN that I don't eat for dietary reasons. - Substitute Lime for Lemon - Adding CHICKEN - Missing vegetables I realize that a few errors isn't a big deal, however if you work hard - and are hungry in the middle of the day and take a break to pickup a salad which cost $14 - it needs to be accurate. I had more than 2 dozen instances where I got back to my office to find out my salad was not accurate. Many times, the errors caused me to discard the salad without eating. The real issue with SG is that they simply don't care about customers, they are a start-up mentality and their HR indicates poor training an inconsistency. From a management standpoint - there's no zero way to provide ANY FEEDBACK to SG - If you're salad is incorrect, they don't care - you're only recourse is to go back to the specific location; no published phone numbers and emails are sent to generic address. After I started noticing that 2 or 3 times a week my salad wasn't 100% accurate, I was provided with a local manager's email address which I used frequently. He is/was VERY NICE and VERY APOLOGETIC however they still could not make my salads accurately. His solution was for his teams at each store to pay 'extra' special attention to my orders. It didn't work - and, I always wondered why they didn't care about the 'other' clients who must be getting the wrong items on their salads. As noted, there's no easy way to contact a location or a person at SG. The last/final time I ordered from SG, they added CHICKEN to my salad and since I don't eat chicken, the salad was garbage. If you don't care about mistakes on your salad - then SG may be an option for you, however if there are any specific foods you can't/won't eat - OR - if you you'd like to receive an accurate salad do NOT GO TO SG. I've been to each SG location in CHICAGO and they are all the same - inconsistent accuracy with take-out orders. *More than 25% of the time they had some type of error on my orders in the 14 months I ate at SG. FYI: I've found a MUCH BETTER option, which is; healthier, easier and less expensive. read more

Yes! I was so excited to try this place. I follow them on Instagram even though I don't have one close to me. I was so happy to see a menu of things I could eat in abundance! The summer seasonal salads were really good, and the iced tea and drinks were amazing. Extra bonus is they use produce from nearby sources.
