We had a lovely lunch here. The building is set back from the road and the restaurant entrance is behind building. A good size parking area near the entrance has two handicap spots by the ramp. A host/ess will seat you. Booths around the edges and tables in the middle. There is a cozy bar area plus a large event room with a fireplace. Restrooms are gender specific singles by the entrance. Full menu, appetizer to dessert, full bar, mocktails and soft drinks. We both chose entrees. Burgers, sandwiches, soups and salads also available. I chose a side Caeser salad for a five dollar upcharge as one if my two sides. The greens were fresh and the dressing pleasant. My companion chose the french onion soup as a starter and enjoyed it very much. Served in a crock with lots of melted cheese over the top. For entrees we chose chicken parm and baked haddock. The portion sizes were generous with half the chicken parm being brought home. The haddock was flakey with a nice crumb topping and lemon on the side. The butternut squash side (my choice) was tasty, although there was a bit too much black pepper there for me. Our waitress was very capable and friendly. The atmosphere is casual and cozy. read more

First time at the sweet heart inn. A little hard to find but it's a great hidden jem. It's a house that is converted to a restaurant and small function room. It's cozy warm. We al. Had the prime rib dinner it was fabulios. Tender baked potato and you have to get the buttered broccoli with the toasted bread crumbs. This quaint restaurant has great prime rib and a great staff. The bar is very friendly. The food portions are generous and delish.

Wife and I walked in tonight for dinner and were quoted a 20 minute wait even though there were open tables in the dining room. We didn't mind though, because we found two seats at the bar and had a very pleasant experience. I ordered the grilled chicken, green beans, baked potato, and a side salad. The chicken was grilled perfectly and the portion was large! My wife ordered the mediterranean bowl which seemed lackluster compared to what I got. As they say, to each their own! Her bowl came with vegetables (and quinoa) for $17 (protein is extra) whereas mine came with 2 chicken breasts, a baked potato, and a huge serving of green beans for $20. We will definitely be back. A mixed review place with some good and some not so good things. Place is in the middle of nowhere in a residential area. Pretty place and nicely decorated. Plenty of parking. We heard about their $60 meal deal for 2 on Tuesdays that include an appetizer, main course and a shared dessert. We started with a hibiscus margarita that looked nothing like the ones I've had at other places starting with the color. I expected a pink to any shade of red but instead it looked like a beer to me. Taste was good so I'd give it a 3.5 rating. We ordered calamari off the regular menu and they were good but I prefer crispier so for me they were a 4 out of 5. Appetizers were good. French onion soup was extra cheesy and my partner had a good size Caesar salad so 5 out of 5. Where we went really wrong was with the main course. Unfortunately we both ordered the same thing and they both failed. Steak tips over mashed potatoes. First they ate "drowned" in gravy so not a very appealing look. I asked for medium and one piece was medium and the other was well done. I don't care for well done steak so I asked the server and she offered to re-do it. Since she was taking the plate away I asked her to please ask for the gravy on the side. By the time she came back my partner had cut into the second piece of his medium rare steak tip that happened to be well done. I pointed this out to her and her response was that it was sitting in the gravy and it probably made it well done. I disagree but hey we had my new plate in front of me. She asked me to cut and see if the new one was ok but as soon as I touched it with the fork, I knew that it was rare so I told her it was ok. I just had it with second chances and I decided to take it home (not before cutting into it for a photo). Dessert was French toast churros. They were ok. I'm not sure if they had a problem with the lights but they flickered many times often as if they were going to dim the lights but didn't. Server was not very attentive. We had to wave her down a couple of times although it wasn't a busy night. She asked if we wanted another margarita but didn't fill our water glasses again or offered my partner the option to order another Diet Coke. Cozy place! We had a party of 7 ppl, perfect table location acoustics were good...we arrived for late lunch so the subpar service issues could've been from transition from lunch to dinner service regardless all the food was terrific! Baked Haddock was one of the best I've had at a restaurant- steak tips were cooked perfect- others had the prime rib cooked to perfection they loved it! Hearty portions. The lobster pie is amazing, as is the prime rib. Our mother's day visit was wonderful. Heather was our server and was very attentive, refilling drinks without asking. She was personable and knowledgeable when it came to the menu. My husband and I are both seniors and had no trouble seeing the menu with the natural sunlight and bright lighting in the dining room. I called ahead to let them know it was my birthday, and the person on the phone explicitly told me that they provide a complimentary birthday dessert.We came in, had a nice meal, and spent over $100. When the bill came, they charged me $12 for the apple crisp. When I brought it up to our waitress, she brought over the manager, Danielle. Danielle was completely unprofessional. Instead of fixing the mistake, she interrogated me, demanding to know exactly who I spoke to on the phone. When I said I didn't know the employee's name, she refused to honor what I was promised and forced me to pay for it anyway.To argue with a customer and ruin their birthday over a $12 dessert after we just spent $100 is petty and greedy. We recently had dinner at the Sweetheart Inn in Methuen, MA- Located close to the Pelham, NH line, we sat in an open dining room with a good crowd. The service was great- very attentive and polite. We ordered the spinach and artichoke dip. Highly recommend! The homemade pita chips made this. For an entree, ordered the Cajun Ribeye. It was just a touch too blackened, but otherwise cooked really well. The Peanut Butter Explosion was rich but delicious. All is all a good meal. Would recommend! read more

We had lunch at The Sweetheart Inn today Wednesday . Lauren was a wonderful service and made you feel welcome. The classic onion soup in a crock was perfect as well as an appetizer sampler. We returned to the Sweetheart in after many years as we have read all the great reviews. Well I am glad that we returned, as everything was fantastic! We got right in on a very busy Friday evening. Our server Vickie was super sweet and on point knew her stuff! Fresh hot rolls were brought out as well as waters. Our drinks were also came out promptly. We started with the fried calmari RI style with the hot vinager peppers. It also came with a side of marinara sauce. THe calamari was excellent- super fresh and tender and nice breading. I had the lobstar and shrimp scampi with linguini. It was amazing and cooked perfect. A LOT of shrimp and lobstar too. Hubs had the steak tips and mashed potato. It was cooked medium and was cooked perfectly. Nice char on them too. We skipped dessert but they sent out 2 sugar cookies to us which was a nice touch. Last to mention was the seats. They still have those old black booths with the busted springs- like your sitting in a 53 Ford pickup. HA! read more

We haven't been to Sweetheart Inn in years! Granted it is off the beaten path so we never think of it. The last time we were there Mike Condon was running it and it was not good at all. Someone just told me a couple weeks ago that there was new management there and that it was pretty good. So we decided to try it out. We went on a Thursday night and we went around 7:30. There were quite a few people in there considering it was a Thursday and late in the evening. This place is VERY welcoming! I got a sense that a lot of people knew each other. If you like to sit at a booth like we do, there are loads of them. We were seated and Vicki came over and asked if we would like drinks other than water. I ordered a Berry Cosmo. Super delicious. It's made with blackberry puree. A basket of about 5 warm rolls and butter were brought over to us. I ordered the Chicken Piccata. The chicken is breaded with panko. I also ordered mashed potatoes and green beans (which were fresh not frozen). Hubby got the Veal Parmesan with Penne. The meals came and I couldn't believe how big the two pieces of chicken were. There was a lemon caper sauce with roasted cherry tomatoes. The only thing I could have done without is the cheese sprinkled on top, but I will know to eliminate next time. The mashed potatoes were very good and fresh green beans. I had to bring one whole piece of chicken home. The Veal Parmesan was also really GOOD. He was a little cautious about getting veal as some places its really tough. This was tender and perfectly breaded. Sauce was pretty good too. I had another Berry Cosmo because they are very addicting and delicious. We went again on the weekend with my daughter and grandson. This time I had the Baked Haddock/Baked Scallop combo, mashed and green beans. Generous amount of haddock and very flaky. I don't think the scallops were day boat (dry), but entrée was very good. My husband had the Baked Haddock and was raving about how delicious it was. My daughter had a salad and the Teriyaki Stir Fry. She forgot to tell the server she wanted to add chicken. So, the server brought her some grilled chicken to add to her stir fry. Looked very good. The service from Alex was excellent. We went a third time last night. I got the Baked Haddock with mashed and green beans. As usual the haddock was a decent thickness, flaky and delicious. The crumb topping is also delicious. Hubby finally got the prime rib he was eyeing. The Au jus was delicious. The smaller cut was more than enough he said. He said it was a "solid piece of prime rib". And very tender. He got mashed and green beans as well. He was 1000% pleased. You even each get a heart shaped sugar cookie to take home with you when you get your check. It's great to find a really good restaurant close to us and such great servers. Danielle and Rob are doing a fantastic job with the Sweetheart Inn. My husband and I went to The Sweetheart Inn to celebrate our anniversary, and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We had made reservations, though it didn't seem necessary on a Wednesday night--even though the restaurant was pleasantly busy. Our server, Amy, was absolutely amazing--attentive, funny, and full of charm. She even shared some of the Inn's history, which added a lovely personal touch to the evening. We both ordered the steak tips, and they were cooked to perfection--tender, flavorful, and generously portioned. I loved that there was enough to bring home for lunch the next day. Service and food quality were both top-notch. My only small critique is the price of the Maine IPA Lunch at $12 for a draft--it's actually more than I typically pay in Boston. This was our first time here and we were immediately impressed. We came on a Thursday afternoon and it wasn't busy yet. Just a few people in the nice bar. Our server, Vickie greeted us and she made us feel right at home. My husband and I started with the clam chowder and bacon wrapped scallops. Warm rolls were brought out as well. Joe got the largest portion of Chicken Parmesan over linguine that he ever had and it was excellent! I had the 16 oz Prime Rib done perfectly medium rare to rare. It came with a side of Au Jus and I chose the mashed potatoes and fresh green beans. Joe had a couple of beers and I had a delicious glass of wine. For desert I ordered their chocolate martini which was beautiful to look at and delicious! Vickie bartends as well and made that spectacular drink. We ended up each taking home half of our meals and had dinner for Friday night. It was perfect and reasonable especially for the portions. Definitely ask for Vickie. Driving from nearly hour away and being our first time going, bit daunting. Traveling through neighborhoods and finally arriving. The parking lot is not user friendly, the two handicapped spots were already taken, so we parked close to the ramp to the restaurant. Dining companion uses a walker/cane, walk way to the restaurant allowed access. the space restriction made use of the walker, a tad difficult. So We requested a booth or a table. Table would be ideal, but they were taken. And since we had a reservation, (strongly advised)we were promised the next one would be available. Thirty minutes later we were seated. The booth felt kind of hollow, but we were seated and after perusing the menu, we decided to try the clam chowder. But don't be fooled , there are some tempting options and you still have a ton of choices left! I chose the prime rib with scallops (can either be fried or baked) dining companion had the rib eye. Our food came out rather quickly. Everything was perfectly cooked and left a satisfied belly. Noise level was quite high, but I wasn't too concerned about it. Desert was ordered, but taken home. Went there today. Was packed didn't made reservations. Was our fault, the host though. Treat as like it was crime. She told us that the wait was going to be 45mins. So I told my mother in law and waited for my father in law who were walked in with cane, as we talk with him discussing about the wait, the host lady snapped at me and my mother in law 'are you going to wait for an hour wait time or what?' My mother in law banter with her that we are still discussing then we decided to take our business else where. First time my husband and I came, where we had nice dinner this lady wasn't around, and we don't made any reservations too. And that is why we decided to bring my in law and on my father in law's birthday. Who knows a host with lack of hospitality. I am so scared to go back there and have a host who will yell at me. Veal saltimbocca was merely a breaded veal cutlet that could be used for Veal parmigianna. Saltimbocca was advertized as having the traditional proscuiito and sage. Went again last night with the Haskell's. Weekend night so we made a reservation. Seated right away. Our friends were excited to go as we'd raved about our first visit there. PRO-Our Server, Amy, hustled as it was very busy. Kept the drinks flowing. Ward went with the very good Baked Scallops again but avoided the White Rice (see previous review) and got the Squash & a Garden Salad instead. Salad was fresh & huge. He enjoyed the Squash(which had cinnamon in it, if that matters to you). My large Caesar salad was really good. The Minestrone Soup of the day was excellent, our friends said. Mrs. Haskell got the Fried Chicken (tasty she said) & Mashed Taters with gravy. Mr. Haskell went with the Fried Haddock & Fries. Liked the large filet of fish. but... CON - Mr. Haskell called the fries "straight outta the bag" & said they were just OK. I got the Pot Roast, which I won't get again. It was just pulled meat in a dark gravy. I guess I imagined it to be meat with potatoes & carrots in a gravy, like I make at home, but the menu didn't say this, so my mistake. It was HUGELY salty. The lighter gravy over my & Mrs. Haskell's mashed potatoes was wicked salty as well. SO- Definitely not as good as the first time we went. Go easier on the salt please.
