I came after my nail appointment, such a great treat. The coffee/dessert shop is so cute. I got their horchata iced coffee and it's SO good. I've had horchata before and have never been a fan, but their horchata is homemade and delicious: I also got their New York cheesecake which is homemade too. So excited to try. The service was amazing, I highly recommend!

Very DELICIOUS and BEST CHAMPURRADO EVER! Thank you Sweety House for the suggestion to try it!! 20 out of 5 stars.

This is a favorite stop of mine. Everything I've had there is DELICIOUS AND DELIGHTFUL!! The owners are super friendly and greet you always with a smile. From the delicious Tres Leche cake to the Champurrado, to the Marzipan blended drink/coffee to the yum yum affrigato to the delightful shop made bolis !!!!! Small shop with an "out of this world" delivery of SWEET TREATS!!

Churro was so good and coffee so good. The owners are sweet and kind people. Second time coming and everything is consistent with taste. Cute little shop.

Best tres leches cake I've ever had! So freakin' good!

Wish they had a bit more options as far as desserts (cakes/cookies/etc) but I got tres leches and my daughter got ice cream. Both are delicious! I'm sure we will be back for more!

Great little spot for treats ! We had ice cream and their homemade churro cheesecake so good! The man at the front was helpful and explained the menu and what they have to offer.

BEST MEXICAN TREATS! I'm not a huge sweets person, but OMG. Their tres leches cake is homemade and the best I've ever had. I've grown up with tres leches at every weekend party, but this by far "takes the cake"! LOL. Honestly everything I've tried is delicious and cannot recommend enough.

    Great atmosphere

But, if you're looking for a really cool bar, KWSC is for you. I stopped by on a week day evening around 8:30 p.m. Located in Roosevelt Row, while there isn't parking, I found free parking on the street a few minutes away on foot. Ambiance (4.5/5): My type of spot. Dimly lit with a speakeasy vibe. There are eight or so seats at the bar, and the rest of your seating options consist of comfortable chairs and sofas. You'll see a lot of photos of people's bums on the walls lol. This is indeed part of the appeal. For free, if you would like, they will take a polaroid of your butt and memorialize you eternally on the walls. While I didn't do that, if that's up your alley, go for it. Service (2/5): This is the main area of improvement. After being seated, I was greeted promptly and got my first cocktail promptly. From there, things fell apart. I had to grab the bartender's attention to order my second drink and to close out. It was a week day and they weren't busy. And there were two bartenders. A lack of attentiveness. When I closed out, I noticed that the cocktails were both $2 more expensive than what was listed on the menu. When I inquired, I was told that the menus were outdated... umm what? If you're not going to re-print your menus, give people a heads-up when they arrive. I understand that most people won't notice, but this is deception. Food (N/A): I was on a liquid diet. If you're trying to eat here, all they have is snacks. The menu doesn't specify but I'm thinking it's probably chips or somethign like that. Drinks (4/5): A lengthy, and interesting, cocktail list. Similar to a speakeasy, you're going to see creativity and an interesting blend of flavors here. The most popular drink is Fuck Nazis. We're seeing a theme here. KWSC is an interesting spot. For various dollar amounts, you can get funny things outside of the polaroids of your bum. My first cocktail was great. My second one, a tiki drink, not so much. The menu said that there would be some flame action happening. It didn't. Just another example of the service falling short. If the service were better, Killer Whale Sex Club would easily be a five-star experience.

The atmosphere was unique, the bartenders were genuinely engaging, and there was a real sense of community that made every visit memorable. It became my go-to spot to bring friends from out of town and every single person I brought absolutely loved it! Back then, the cocktails felt intentional and creative, not just rushed out for volume. The staff remembered regulars, conversations flowed naturally, and the whole place had this warm, eclectic energy that made you want to stay for hours. Even on busy nights, it somehow still felt personal. Unfortunately, over the last couple of years, the vibe has changed quite a bit. The drinks just aren't as consistently good as they used to be, especially considering the prices now. Service feels far more transactional and impersonal, and the atmosphere that once made this place stand out has faded into something much more generic. It feels less like a neighborhood gem and more like a stop on a nightlife circuit.

My modest beginnings of spiced beans, cornbread and select salad parts was ultimately supplemented and completed by wings, mashed potators and greens from my left, and a hot dog with one bite gone and a giant helping of mac and cheese. The six year old ran off with my frozen yogurt cone. Such is life. Our service was excellent, a young woman successfuly dealing with her crowded section of The Corral. Our last time here was pre-Covid. Prices are higher, crowds are crowder, the busy food steam and other trays emptird and filled from the busy kitchen. Will we return? I am sure we will.

The food is marginal in terms of taste and temperature. There's no enthusiasm from the staff at the serving line or register. The outdoor trash bins are stuffed to the brim regardless of having virtually no customers on the weekend. There are no menus posted on line, in the base newspaper or at the door. They are doing nothing to help with the morale of the men and women in uniform here. Today is Easter Sunday and some of them are away from whatever they typically do with family so the USAF is their family today and this mess hall could at least have been part of the morale of these Air Force Personnel today by providing something special but nope; same old food and same just doing enough mentality. Saturday- We were here at brunch during the lunch food time and asked what was for dinner. The civilian server said she didn't know since she was off before dinner which is so-so itself but the USAF Sergeant next to her didn't say a word. How about "Sir I'll ask?" What kind of Sergeant does this? We went back at dinner and saw some of the same food served earlier and left but decided we'd try since they'd probably have something special the next day. Sunday- Dinner is 1600-1800 and we got there at 1700. Some of the serving bins were already empty or near empty. I asked for cubed potatoes and they had two (2) pieces left and there was no offer to get more. It was like a buffet where they are trying to save every scrap of food. Two people had to be asked before they knew what kind of fish they were serving. There was nothing special and the beef had double the salt in it that is needed. If you can eat elsewhere do it!

Note that the Taylor Place residence hall was renamed Gordon Commons several years ago, so the dining hall (or cafeteria) is actually the Gordon Commons Dining Hall. As an ASU employee, I had the opportunity to join a number of students and staff for lunch on occasion. Over the years, I have had plenty of opportunities to stop by this dining hall, and it just keeps getting better from the service to the food itself to the special events that take place in the dining hall. Anyone can eat at the Gordon Commons Dining Hall whether an ASU student, staff, or faculty member or even a community member. You will need to be allowed into the community by the security staff on the south side of the building. The cashier at the dining hall accepts cash, credit card, meal swipes, or Maroon & Gold dollars (M&G). More information about meal plans at M&G dollars can be found on the Sun Devil Hospitality (Aramark) website: https://sundevilhospitality.asu.edu. One special event that takes place every few months is that a well-known chef is featured as they provide samples of their dishes and speaks to students, taking photos with them, and occasionally has recipes or a book to give out. When entering Gordon Commons, you will need to pass the security desk and go around the elevator area, turning right when you see long tables with chairs, and to the right is the dining hall. When entering the Gordon Commons Dining Hall, there is a salad bar immediately straight ahead with salad, fruit, pasta, desserts, and much more. Further past the salad bar are the pizza station, grill, and other specialty stations. On the left are drinks while on the right is a healthy food station. While the pizza and sandwiches are pretty standard, the other options rotate each day. I have found many dishes that I love, most involving chicken or beef. Sun Devil Hospitality has themed days, special events, and this past Fall, we've had Fork 'em Friday Cookouts with special meals outside on Taylor Mall for a set meal price. More information is on the Sun Devil Hospitality website or social media pages. Orientation programs, admissions events, and camps during the summer often use the dining hall for meals. The staff are also very friendly from the chefs and cooks to the managers to the servers and cashiers. They welcome questions and love to chat with the students and staff.
