A friend recommended this place to me as she was raving about one of their appetizers. I went yesterday and was immediately impressed with their decor and overall ambiance. Super cute place! The hostess also mentioned to me that their patio area is dog-friendly, which is bonus points! I ordered the baked goat cheese appetizer that my friend told me about. It was definitely tasty! It was really small though for the price, which is the only reason I rated them 4-stars. We came during happy hour so we also ordered the caesar salad, mac and cheese, prosciutto pizza, and italian sausage pizza. The caesar salad was probably one of the best ones I've ever had - not sure what was so special about it, but the salad itself was just perfectly dressed. Mac and cheese was small too, but so creamy and the baked cheese on top was amazing. The pizzas were SO GOOD. Our server also brought out their homemade chili oil to drizzle on top, which made the pizzas even better. Our server was lovely and attentive and friendly. We'll be back here for sure, and hoping next time to try some items on their dinner menu. read more

Sorry about the tardiness; phone died and was traveling. A group of 6 that included me ate here August 25, 2017, and we each raved about the food. I have photos but can't see a way to post them, here, so follow me on Facebook (Sally Sue Fleischmann Ember) to see them attached in comments to this review. We wanted to sit outside, at first, because it was a beautiful night and two of us have trouble hearing in busy, noisy, music-filled places. But, only one table outside seats 6, so after waiting for a "finished" table of 6 to leave for 20 minutes, we accepted a seating inside. They were kind enough to put us in a corner and turn down the music: POINTS for both. Portions are generous, presentation is elegant, service is timely and attentive without hovering, and food was excellent: 5 stars, for sure. One complaint: chairs were very hard and therefore, uncomfortable, which works for table-turnover but are not so comfy for full-dinner sitting. I have a very restricted diet these days (almost no fat/oil/butter/dairy), but was able to find a dish or two I could eat and share out the rest of my food with others in my party, with some to take home for leftovers, even. I had the skirt steak, which was delicious. Unfortunately (for me, but not for my companions) ALL of the side dishes except the excellent bread had oil/butter on them. I tasked two (grilled leeks, roasted potatoes) and skipped tasting the roasted corn-on-the-cob (but it smelled and looked amazing). i stuck my fork into the accompanying (served on the side, for me) sauce, which was also great, but I couldn't eat it. Those who ate these loved them. My companions each said their own food choices were great. The person who ordered the mashed potatoes said they had served him "a mountain" of them and he couldn't finish. He had that side with the pork chop entree, which was also too large (but very fine-tasting) for him to finish. One special ordered was a "burger" which was HALF bacon and it was offered with a side of bacon (refused by the diner), a pickle and a fried egg (accepted these two). She enjoyed and finished this dinner. Either we weren't offered or no one had room for it, but I don't remember seeing or hearing about any desserts (I couldn't have eaten them, anyway). Salads were fresh, ingredients were colorful and well-flavored and -cooked in all entrees and sides, according to my dining party members. Would definitely recommend this highly, but they do not take reservations, so go early or plan to wait (they have a bar, but only high stools there and at some tables as well). read more

We've attended a seminar right beside SWeL's bldg and we only have limited time on breaks so we ended up going to SWeL's for 3 days straight lol! but this restaurant does not disappoint at all. After reading recent posts, I felt I needed to chime in to say how much my husband and I, and our 2 dogs, and the friends we've brought along, have always enjoyed SWel. The food has always been amazingly yummy- never disappoints! The cocktails are delish- the Negronis and Old Fashioned's in particular. I have to say, though, that it's been the staff that keeps us coming back. I've honestly rarely have met a nicer and more welcoming team of servers and hosts. I've called within :15 of closing time to see if we'd be seated, and they said come on in and we'll take good care of you- which they did! Our table on the patio was waiting for us. They had heaters going and blankets in case we got chilly. They had a water dish for our dogs, and the awesome server even remembered our dogs names and gave them lots of attention. And when we've been the last table in the restaurant, we've never felt rushed to leave. SWel really is a great place, and I encourage everyone to stop in and have a wonderful experience like we've had! read more

During a quick weekend get away to Seattle, our family visited SWeL for lunch. This place is super cute. The service was just perfect. Our servers were engaging, attentive and accommodating. But the food? Delicious. The guacamole did not disappoint and we are pretty particular! We started with Caesar salads that were just how we like them. They've raised the bar for bruschetta, maybe annoyingly high by using reduced balsamic and adding goat cheese. This on their yummy pizza crust wouldn't not be a bad idea. That said, the Italian sausage pizza was a win (paired with the chili oil they bring for those more brave with heat than I) as well as the prosciutto/tomato/arugula pizza. I don't ever write reviews but I felt the need to after the excellent experience I had at SWel. We went out for dinner and didn't book a reservation because all the times online were open - but by the time we got there it was packed. The host and 1 other gentleman (unfortunately didn't get their names) were more than happy to sit us at the bar and get us a table as soon as one opened up. The gentleman went as far to ask if we wanted to wait just a bit longer so we could get his "favorite table" which was tucked away and private. The food service was quick and delicious - by far one of my favorite restaurant experiences. TLDR version: you can't get a better restaurant experience than SWel. read more

Stopped here for dinner while visiting our daughter. One of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The filet was perfect, the mushroom pasta was amazing. The carrots were cooked perfectly, so good my wife said they were the best carrots she has ever had. The pear bread pudding was AMAZING. We will definitely be heading back. read more

Came here for an impromptu date night on Saturday. Safe to say we have found our new favorite restaurant in Seattle! We didn't have a reservation and hoped to squeeze in at the bar, but the extremely friendly host was able to get us a great table in no time. Every single member of the staff there was very warm and friendly, even if they were just passing by and weren't our server. The food was incredible. We started with the bruschetta, which was to die for! We then tried the oven fired bay scallops. The flavor was amazing and the serving of scallops was large. My date had the pork chop and we both wanted to get a side of the Marsala sauce to drink :). I had the special, chicken piccata and it was delicious. SWeL is our favorite restaurant in Seattle! My significant other and I love their pizza so much we haven't even wanted to try any other entrees (although I'm sure they are delicious!). All the appetizers are amazing but our favorites are the guacamole in the summer and the jalapeño hummus. There is also always a great selection of draft beer/wine/cocktails to choose from. The service here has always been amazing and everyone is very friendly. You can't go wrong with the sausage or pepperoni pizzas and the chili oil is life changing! Super cute place to go for date night. We went for dinner on a Saturday and were super impressed with our server. She explained the menu but didn't over do it and we felt zero pressure. Don't let the hipster glam deter you from this place! That food is REAL and AMAZING. Our waiter was super helpful and patient as we tried to make decisions on what sinful food we were going to splurge on. We got the goat cheese as appetizer just great balance of flavor and texture with quality bread. Then came the pizza... A completely unexpected diamond shaped with an interesting ever so slightly grainy and sweet dough that perfectly softened the acidity and spice of the tomato sauce and pepperoni. Maybe other dishes are better but I was very disappointed by the lack of creativity and flavor for such a high price! Stopped by on a Friday night with a girlfriend. We ordered the calamari which I don't suggest ordering. It's pretty bland and also a little fishy and doesn't come with any sauce to give it flavor. Split the beets salads which was refreshing and I would order it again and ordered the pear pizza which was amazing! All hosts were very friendly when we first walked in. Restaurant is hip and modern, a very nice and cool setup. Indoor and outdoor seating. Our waiter was awesome as well, super funny. Bruschetta and pizza were great, would definitely go again. Not too expensive either, I thought the items were fairly priced. I really hope these guys open back up. Some of the best and most attentive service in Seattle matches just delicious food. Everyone from the bar staff to the waiters have always been really kind and accommodating. The Pizzas are incredible but all the standard entrees are really great too.
