I always like to tryout new restaurants. Swenson's was just bad. The service was fine and felt almost fun like driving back to the 1950's, but the quality and taste just was not there. I ordered a cheeseburger which was not good at all. And their special sauce was not special at all either. I cannot recommend Swenson's. read more

Service was quick and kind. The food was hit or miss. The cheeseburgers were simple and delicious. The potato teasers were a huge success I would eat again. The onion rings were fried perfectly. Their signature Galley Boy, unlike their posted pictures, was flat, very un-appealing, with the olive on the outside of the paper wrap. Since it was so much smaller than what was pictured, I ordered fries as soon as I saw it, and when they finally were served, they tasted bitter. The fries were a beautiful uniform color, but either the grease was old or they used some bitter seasoning, but they were awful. The service was very good, but food quality was very underwhelming. Not impressed at all. The famous "Galley Burger" was not good at all in my opinion. The two special sauces which are tarter sauce and BBQ sauce were not a good combination. I find it hard to believe that it's " America's Best Cheeseburger" like there menu says. I also ordered the onion rings, again not impressed. We are from Akron area wanting to come here. It's just like home. We had the Galley Boy and hot crispy onion rings. My husband loved his milk shake Oreos and cream. Andrew and Jack took care of us. The service was good and employees were kind and looked like they cared about their job. Food was kind of underwhelming. The burger was teeny tiny, which I guess is fine because it's only 2.50 (but a bigger burger at McDonald's is $1 ) It wasn't bad but it wasn't anything to write home about. The bun was all smooshed and there was hardly any condiments on it. Fries had no salt. Drink was pretty small for a medium. Great service!! Food not so much. I ordered the signature Galleyboy and fries. My wife had the bologna sandwich with grilled onions. Fries were very good crunchy and meaty. Bologna sandwich was okay but a complete mess you really need a knife and fork to eat it. The signature Galleyboy was not to my taste one of the special sauces is a smoke sweet barbecue and I would have passed on that. Ryan at swenson did actually so good. Took our order with a smile. Our food came out within 3 minutes and was hot and fresh. Best food I have had in such a long time. All the workers looked super busy but were serving with a smile. This place just lighted up my night. NEW mac & cheese bites AMAZED me & my dog. My dog ate more than me and I cried so I need to go back tomorrow. Also this cherry drink makes me wanna dance. read more

We pulled in and were immediately confused - one person we saw parked in front and went inside, but it claimed to be a drive-in and there was a menu on the wall, but the menu on the wall had no prices? We finally pulled up and parked in front of one of the wall menus, and fairly soon a guy came out to give us a paper menu with the prices on it. Okay, cool. He explained that we should turn our headlights on when we're ready to order. Okay. Except while we were sitting there with our headlights off, looking at the menu, we had two different people come up to ask if we were ready to order yet, but then once we turned our lights on one of those people walked right past us without a second glance! We waited long enough that we were about to go inside to order when finally someone came out and noticed our lights were on and took our order. The food took a while. Not so long that that alone would keep me away, but way longer than fast food should. Then when they brought it out, it was on a tray for us to eat there and we had to *ask* for a bag to get it to go - nobody had bothered to ask if it was for here or to go when we ordered, and at a place like this why would you assume it's for here by default??? Then it took forever for them to bring it back out in a bag. And in the end, the food was mediocre. Not bad or anything, but not as good as Sonic and definitely not worth the 20-30 minutes this whole process took. And Sonic has the bonus of making the entire process of getting food from a drive-in burger place streamlined and fast instead of slow and confusing. Maybe they should, like, eat at a Sonic and take a few notes (for example: you don't have to wait for anyone to bring you a menu, you push a button to order which guarantees they'll notice you, they assume that if you're not willing to get out of your car to get food it's probably to go but also have the option of a tray they can hand you as you get your food if you do want to eat it there). read more

Yesterday, my friend and I were in Cincinnati and tried Swenson's for the first time. We both ordered the Triple Cheeseburger and Onion RIngs. I had the Florida drink and he had the California. The cheeseburger was one of the best I have ever had, hands down! The onion rings were perfectly crisp and the drink was soo good. The burger had an unidentifiable sweetness to it which was subtle and not overpowering. The Florida drink had a orange citrus kick to it. The service was fantastic. They were kind, courteous and literally running the orders to the cars. The atmosphere was similar to a Sonic Drive In, but the service was so much better! I need for Swenson's to make an appearance in the Louisville market. It would be a hit here for sure! read more

I am giving this a one star strictly for the young attendant who came to the car to obtain the information needed to retrieve our order. She was quite polite and provided great service. The food on the other hand was terrible. The double cheese burger was wrapped and placed into the bottom of the bag, with the tater tots (known by another name at Swensons), onion rings, extra french fries, and the napkins placed on top, thereby smashing the hamburger. The fish platter was in a box; two pieces of fish, french fries, and cole slaw. The onion rings and fish were fried to a very hard coating thereby making them too hard for me to eat without scraping my tongue and mouth. The french fries were another disappointment, also over done, but not to the degree of the fish and onion rings. My wife said the tater tots were good, the hamburger had good flavor, but the bun was crushed and therefore soggy. The two milk shakes we purchased; the regular size; were tasty, but the product (size) provided was not worth the cost. The total cost of this "feast" was $ 30.00 and change; including a 10% tip for what I hope was the attendant who delivered our meal to the car. Any way, this was our first and last venture for getting a good meal from Swensons. We will not be back, and we have already let our friends know not to waste there time and money on Swensons. read more

Second time going to this place, the food is good the service is good. The only gripe I have is that I asked for a cherry Carmel shake and when I got home I do t even know what the hell this is, chocolate maybe? Since it's a 20 minute drive it's not worth driving all the way back. I can drive to udf which is 3 minutes away. This'll be the last time our family eats swensons.. seriously.. it's a shake .. cherry and caramel and you messed it up. Not worth my time. read more

THIS PLACE IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE. Easily one of the best burgers I have ever had in my life. I was disappointed to see so many bad reviews when I enjoy it so much. People comparing it to cheap frozen food that you can get in any small town was very off putting. The double cheese burger with extra cheese and potato teezers are elite.
