The only positive thing I can say about this place is that the food was pretty good. Aside from that the service was extremely slow and very rude. It took over 20 minutes to get a cup of water and our waitress was inconsiderate. I went with three other friends and our intentions were to split the bill (which I assumed was a normal thing as I have done this at every restaurant I ever went to in my life). When we asked for separate checks, they said "they don't do that here" and we were given a lot of attitude when trying to come to an agreeable decision. Food came in under 20 minutes, and no issues with the order whatsoever. Ribs were amazing with that great smokey char you look for on top quality BBQ food. Pulled pork was among the best I've ever tried. Pickles and pickled onions have a great kick. Smokey and sweet BBQ sauces both very tasty with a little tang. Stopped in last night for wings. I was expecting a neat tiny pile but what we received were indeed monster fried chicken wings with the sauce on the side. We got the six and then ordered the Mac and Pete. I asked our server to surprise me with a beer and she did an awesome job choosing the Traveler Grapefruit. I really wanted to like Swingbellys. It looked laid back with it's outdoor and indoor wooden benches, its various pork related trinkets, and kitschy assortment of bar drafts hanging from the ceiling. When I walked in it seemed to had a fun vibrant energy, with upbeat music playing in the background and the hum of the dinner rush crowd. The novelty soon lost it's intrigue and the hum turned into a deafening roar that I had to speak loudly against in order to hold a conversation. The food is not very good. I had superior ribs at home and especially at every Famous Dave's establishment I've been to. I go through great lengths to dine in certain places for the food and deals alike, but I am not tempted at all to go to Long Beach on Thursdays for the $1 ribs. Not tempted at all. Burnt Ends Chili - $6.99 It's made with beer, 4 chillies and beans, and it's topped with cheese, sour cream and a side of Cornbread. My bf said that it was OK but mediocre. Mac and Cheese- $3.99 I was surprised at how much the people at my table was raving about the mac and cheese. They obviously never had mac and cheese of the soul food variety in Harlem because the one I had there was out of this world flavorful and butter. Swingbellys' mac and cheese is A-OK but it's a step up from Krafts. However you do get a small hill of mac of cheese and decent ones at that. St. Louis Ribs - Full Slab Platter$19.99 Each platter includes 1 side of your choice an cornbread. I opted for the side of macaroni and cheese and the Swingbelly's sauce. The ribs were not very tasty nor were they mouthwatering. The meat clung to the bones like there was a chance of life and it was kind of chewy. I did not care for the spices. Beef Brisket - $13.99 The best dish on the table. Delicious yummy meaty beef. Swingbelly's was very underwhelming and mediocre for me. THE most amazing BBQ I have yet to find on all of Long Island. The ribs are amazing and the brisket melts in your mouth. I have yet to find a mac n cheese that can compare either. My only complaint is that this place gets so packed that I once ordered takeout for pickup - was told it would take 40 min. Got there an hour later and still had to wait another hour and 15. I think they were so busy that the wait staff kept taking my order so as to not make restaurant guests wait. But it pissed me off & they kept trying to ply me with liquor to placate me. BG But I have to deal with it cause it is THE best BBQ around. Go early, midweek after beach season and the crowds will abate, but by all means GO! And they have fried pickles! read more

Waitress is an air head, after I asked her if there was BBQ sauce in the bag , she affirmed it was in the bag (was not) . No corn bread with your meal you must buy a basket although it says clearly on the menu it's included,No gravy for the mash, they don't offer it. The food was less than lame!! No flavor. Save your money and go somewhere else. For $120 for 4 people you can get a decent meal, this place is really horrible, if you know anything about BBQ. I think that the fact that there's nothing near by ,people can't compare so they settle for crappy BBQ, like I did... Finally decided to come out to Long Beach for the start of the summer. Living in North Carolina for a while, we decided to try out some Long Beach BBQ at Swingbellys. As I always do, I over ordered and was not disappointed. We started with fried pickles and the pig poppers. Both were not overly oily and fried very nicely. The shrimp tacos were deliciously cooked with citrus and the brisket/pulled pork combo was an enormous helping. I ordered the mustard bbq sauce. I didn't expect it to be as spicy as it was but nevertheless it was extremely satisfying for me. Sitting outside, there was a ton of noise which is to be expected. The owner bought me and my girlfriend a round of beers to compensate which was totally unnecessary. First time here so decided to stop in for lunch with my brother-in-law and his dad wasn't too busy and the bartender was running the show for the entire restaurant, he was very friendly and courteous, The place has a nice tavern feel to it, we placed our order right away because we were starving and it came out within 10 minutes! Growing up in Long Beach, this place has been my favorite since it first opened. Although I do think the food was better before the storm and the re-opening, their food is ridiculous. Best monster wings, cheesesteak, and Mac and cheese. Love all you can eat (Monday) wing night and dollar rib (Thursday) night. This is a weird one.. I made a reservation through OpenTable for 8 people. I needed to add an additional 2 people to the party so I called the restaurant directly added them and confirmed my reservation for the next night. We had a reservation for 6:45pm. When I arrived with my group they had no knowledge of us coming nor a table large enough to seat us. The manager told us she'd take care of getting us a table for dinner but in the mean time requested we hang tight and wait outside for a table to open up. We were sat outside for a table large enough for 6 people so half of us were standing on the patio. While waiting for just about TWO hours for what was supposed to be a reservation we racked up a decent beverage and app tab. We were not offered any comps for that inconvenience. We were finally sat for dinner at about 8:30pm, racking up another large bill. No rounds of drinks or apps offered to us here as well. We weren't even given any type of apology for the mix up. The manager who was helping us out left around 7:30 leaving us to be the ones checking up to see if there we any tables that opened up. Oddly enough I received an email from OpenTable days later asking how my experience was... on a reservation the establishment claims they never received. Food was really good though! read more

As a LB resident I have a ton of places to choose from right in town & i have to say as far as food goes this is one of my favorite spots, there really isn't anything else like it in town & im never disappointed eating in or taking out. Giving 4 stars instead of 5 due to table service being sub par at least half the time and the fact that they've been out of what I was really in the mood for a few times, but the staff is friendly just could be more efficient but overall it's def worth checking out. Stopped in for dinner after a long day at the beach with a friend. Place was loud and crowded, but was really an ideal beach barbecue environment. My friend got a watermelon margarita, and I got one of their many microbrew beer selections. We split a full rack of baby back ribs, with fries, cole slaw, and cornbread. Every bite was delicious, the meat fell off the bone to the point that the bone had no trace of having any meat period. Every bite was delicious down to the last morsel. Food was pretty good, but it doesn't feel like real BBQ. The brisket was dry and tasted like steak, no fatty juiciness and didn't really have smoke flavor to it. The chicken was pretty good, juicy with good spice. The mac n cheese, while plentiful was mostly velveeta mixed with pasta instead of the casserole style prominent in BBQ. I did like the cornbread which was sweet and moist. Some things that could be improved were no salt/pepper on the tables and I had to get up to get forks myself from the server station. Our waitress did not check that we had utensils when she brought our food. She also asked if we wanted BBQ sauce, but we weren't given a choice of sauces. There are many different BBQ sauces-vinegar based, Carolina style, Texas style etc. Sauce was provided in a portioned cup, not a squeeze bottle. The menu doesn't allow you to combine two different meats in your meal either, as many places do. How can you choose one meat in a good BBQ place? Overall, place is good but it's not authentic BBQ and the service was inattentive. They might be fooling the locals but for someone who knows real southern BBQ, this is not it. read more

I'm not a barbecue person but I do enjoy their Mac n' Cheese, cornbread and they have a decent selection of beer as well. When we complained that we were ignored the bartender fought with us and we ended up getting kicked out of the bar. Didn't know asking for water was such a crime. SMH. So i bought the baby back ribs. They were dry, hard and disapointing. If i wanted dry ribs i would have made them myself. Im sure their food is better then what i had so i was fairly disapointed with their ribs.
