You need swanky good looking hair! You need it styled fast = as in 30 min or less. You also need it fitting with your budget. Swink will save your life and your wallet!! Living in the deary vapor mist and humidity of Seattle it can be hard to maintain a decent look. I did not want to have to go through the hassle of trying to squeeze myself in with a random stylist so I emailed Swink studio and was able to receive several time openings (I emailed them only the night before). I was greeted by the receptionist and offered up tea right away. The waiting area is small but cute with plenty of mags, jewelry, and products to tempt you. My stylist was also super attentive and we talked about a couple of options to my hair. Although I really didn't end up with what I exactly wanted it still wasn't bad - just a little less use on the hairspray/curling. I managed to pop right out of there in 25 min - perfect amount for me to get back to my car in time to pay the meter. Yay Swink! read more

Huge fan of this place! I recently got feather lock extensions and the girls were nice when I arrived, the wait time wasn't long at all. They offered me something to drink and by the time I finished my beverage, I was sat down to have my hair done. The girl who did my hair was friendly, we chatted for the short bit I was there, she even provided me with some tips on how to do my hair because I am not very good at styling my own hair. She was very helpful. I have gotten better since! I love my feather extensions, they have been in for a bit over a month now and I plan on getting more once these fall out. I love 'em! I've never seen a place that does just blow outs, styles, and extensions before, very cool. Next time I'll be in for a blow out and more feathers! read more

Then, as the friend who was going to do hair flaked on me and we had asked an aunt to do our hair last minute, the awesome people at Swink even did some quick hair fix-ups for us. I made an appointment for dry styles and full make up for myself and my bridesmaids (four of us total). Unfortunately, it was not clear that a dry style is different than an up-do. But, the salon made such an effort to squeeze all of us in and get our make up and hair done the way we wanted that we walked out on time and beautiful. I will start out by saying that everyone I talked to was very, very nice and sweet and genuinely wanted me to be beautiful for my wedding. However, my experience here was mediocre and plagued with trouble--I had some bad luck. I wish I didn't have complaints, because I know that everyone here definitely tried their best, but the end result just wasn't what I was looking for. I wasn't sure if I would have a "getting ready" room at my venue, so I wanted to go to a salon instead of booking an on-location artist for my wedding hair and makeup. Went in for a trial and my hair was absolutely perfect, but my makeup was not what I asked for. I was also told by the bridal coordinator that I could not bring in any makeup of my own and was later told by the artist that it was actually completely fine to do so--which is great, because I'm pretty sure I own more makeup than they actually have on hand, and they did not have a nude/white eyeliner nor a suitable inner-eye highlight, nor the style of false lashes that I wanted. I let them know that I was unhappy with the makeup, and they offered me a free second trial--with a different artist, as the first one had a scheduling conflict. I missed this trial and it was my own fault. They had tried to call and email me about the missed appointment, but apparently they managed to get all of my contact information wrong in their system and could not get in touch with me at all. They were committed to the retrial, though, and called me the next day with a reschedule. This was also the time they informed me that the stylist who had done my trial had quit, and my new makeup artist would also be my new hair stylist. On the day of my wedding, they accidentally moved my appointment up an hour and then back down when I called to confirm it. Long story short, the artist tried really hard to leave me with the look I asked for but apparently had trouble understanding what I was asking her for, so I ended up completely redoing my eye makeup by myself when I got back home. The contour I asked for was the wrong color and looked like smudged dirt on my face, so I had to fix that as well. My hair was an updo and the bun was far too low, but there wasn't really time to redo it so there wasn't exactly much I could say at that point--despite it needing to be much higher to hold my cathedral-length veil in place. It poked my neck and the back of my head very painfully all night, which my trial hair did not do. To be fair, the stylist who quit hadn't exactly left instructions or even a picture that made it possible to see what she had done, so I wouldn't say it was my stylist's fault. My bridesmaids did come out looking better than I did, although they did end up with "highlighter" that was darker than they were (I suspect they may only have one illuminator and it is not for pale people), and one of them was more orange than she should have been when viewed in decent lighting. Honestly, everyone here was just so nice, and they really did put care and time into their services, that I feel bad for having a negative experience, but there were so many mistakes made and the end result was such that I really can't say it was worth the money or headache. read more

Just OK. My bff and I went in since we a good experience with a blowout two weeks prior at another blow dry bar. We wanted to try something different and so this is based on my dry style experience - for $40 bucks, I would just go home and style my own hair. Walked in, checked in - was hoping to be offered water, but nope. Receptionist was friendly enough. Asked for beachy wavy curls, chatted a few sentences with the stylist, spray, curl, curl and then done. Was done is less than 30 mins. Not worth the money. Maybe my experience would be different if I did just a blowout but not impressed unfortunately. Blowout yes, not dry style in the future. Will probably go to the other blow out salon over this one. read more

I got married on August 25th. I made a group appointment for myself, my two bridesmaids, my sister in law, my mom and niece. We all had hair and make up done. It was the most enjoyable morning for us all. We were all done up and ready to go in the allotted time. Everyone had the style they wanted (with a few changes a long the way) and looked fabulous. I have been a client for over a year. The customer service is excellent and I can always book a last minute appointment or they squeeze me in. I signed up for the membership because the blowouts last awhile. I like that I can request a stylist since it can sometimes take a few appointments to know my hair. I have also used their makeup services for events and the artists are talented and know how to apply makeup for photos. Highly recommend them! read more

I was helping lead and coordinate a large event taking place nearby and needed my hair to look fabulous all afternoon and evening! The stylist I saw (Jamie) was phenomenal! She gave me a side swept up-do that looked great and stayed in place during my hours of running around! The entire staff and management was so helpful and helped me get off to my event in a timely manner looking like I'd spent all day at the salon! Well this was basically a catastrophe my stylist was ok very nice girl and my photoshoot got canceled so I was stuck with a hair appointment no big deal because its Friday night right Wrong less than 5 minutes after I left this morning my hair needed to be ran under a flat iron again frizz city and my natural curls came back so quickly it was unreal by the time I got to Westlake center I needed a flat iron this was one of the worst hair experiences I have ever had I'm so glad my photoshoot was canceled because I would have had a hair nightmare on my hands the odds of me returning are slim to none my stylist told me she wasn't able to get my baby hairs I knew right then I should just get out of the chair and go home save 45$ and do it myself she my stylist "all white was shocked my hair was just like hers fine and straight and soft " for the last time people I'm FRENCH And Puerto Rican = I do not have nappy hair I have French hair look at the pictures Don't get me started when the guy booking my hair appointment got concerned with the stylist I should have just turned around and ran .. However my stylist was very friendly "so was the snake that told eve to eat the Apple" so was everyone else for 9 am Friday morning my hair just sucked is all I've actually never had this happen so I'm still in shock I think she just didn't know what products to use on my hair that also sucks because I use aveda and they had what I use on my hair at the salon .. I swear I wrote a review for this place. Well I came here to get my hair styled for my birthday party. I had a table at Aston Manor so I wanted it to look perfect. Well, it certainly wasn't. I got the big curls (forgot what style it's called on the website) and I got that but I told her that I disliked super crunchy hair but guess what, that'd what I got. She also seemed like she didn't want to be there also. She got done with my hair in 15 minutes (I have long, thick hair) and looked sloppy. When visiting Swink for the first few times I was quite excited that there was a place I could go just for a blow-out quickie! I've been back several times, and the quality of my experience has continued to decline. My biggest rant is that the last two times I've visited, my stylist was over 30 minutes late for my appointment. When I make a 30 minutes appointment , that doesn't mean I have an hour to kill. I've been late to other appointments as a result. In addition to tardiness, I feel the quality of service has declined, too. The last two blow-outs I got were rushed, and the result was something I could have achieved at home. If I get my hair professionally blown out, with a round brush and product, I expect height, volume, and an effect I can't do in my own bathroom. The last few times, my hair has fallen flat and looked no less brilliant than had I just jumped out of the shower and done it in 20 minutes (not the HOUR long affair that I gave the salon). It's a handy spot to have in Seattle, but I don't think it is doing what it should be.... just my experiences there. Friendly, cute environment, but lacking what I really want in paying for my hair to be done. read more

With my wedding ceremony at 2PM, I was looking for a place that could do multiple hair and make-up so that we wouldn't have to start at like 7AM! Swink was both convenient and affordable (for wedding hair/make-up!), especially since myself and my wedding party were staying at the Sheraton in downtown Seattle. My stylist was Amanda and I could not have been happier with the way my hair and make-up turned out. We did a trial appointment, which was great and then on the day-of made a few adjustments. She was very patient on my wedding day as there were many different people competing for my attention. Most importantly, I looked like a much more beautiful version of myself for my wedding day! If you read my previous review, you would understand how big it is for me to update this review. About a moth ago I got an e-mail from Swink, guessing that I was added to their mailing list somehow. I responded that I would like to be taken off the mailing list due to my previous experience. I shortly got an e-mail back from the Owner of the salon offering her deeped appologies for my experience as well as the delay in addressing my concerns. She offered me any service of my choice to make it right as they highly value the experience of their customers. I cannot say how pleased I was to see the owner of a company not only admit they were wrong but offer anything that I wanted to make it right to me. Just got my hair done here for a wedding and it was a pretty lackluster experience. The staff did very little to make me, let alone the bride, feel special on her wedding day. One bridesmaid wasn't happy with her updo style, communicated that to the stylist and she just gave up because after an hour it was clear that it was a waste of time...she ripped it out the minute we got to the venue and just did it herself because it was so poorly done at the salon. The bride had to work with her makeup artist for at least an hour as well to achieve her desired look, only to have to have major touch ups immediately after leaving. If you want to pay $75+ to feel awkward and unwelcome on your wedding day, then this is the spot for you. read more

I love, love, love coming to Swink for exactly one reason: June Jaffee for brows. She waxes and dyes my eyebrows and is the only one I trust in Seattle to get them right. She makes my brows look like me -- but a slightly better, more polished version of me. She's also the sweetest and can make even this awkward introvert feel super comfortable chatting away. I went here for an up-do for a wedding I was going to. My stylist was Alanda and she was amazing. I loved my hair. It looked very classy and it stayed up all night. I have the most lame, thin hair, so in order to kick it up a notch, someone has to have some great skills, which she did. Swink was clean, welcoming, and quick. I was in and out of there in 30 mins. I came here with a few coworkers, and had a great time. Our hair and makeup was done nicely, and in a good time frame. However, we all noticed that they were not cleaning their brushes/eyeliners etc. in the manner that they should. I have been a model for several years, and was not pleased with what I saw in terms of their consideration given to the cleanliness/sharing of their instruments. I went to Swink as part of a bridal party on 4/7/13. I was really nervous about getting my hair done, because I have very curly/textured hair, and even called ahead to make sure enough time would be allotted to straighten it because I didn't want to create any delays. When I arrived, even though we started over 30 minutes late, Britni handled my hair and concerns like a pro. She was very nice and when she finished, my hair looked great! Unfortunately I only looked great for about 20 minutes. Even though we walked slowly under an umbrella (and it was only the usual Seattle mist) for the 6 blocks from Swink to the hotel, my hair was obviously not secured well enough and fell apart by the time I got there. I nearly cried when I saw it in the mirror of the elevator; I know that sounds dramatic, but I had just spent all this time and money (is it possible my hair was not secured well enough because we started so late? ) and I was in a panic to get dressed and fix my hair in time before we had to go take pictures. Thankfully one of the other bridesmaids was able to pin my hair into a reasonable shape, but instead of looking charming it looked like something we'd done ourselves. Which, at that point, we had. So... overall: disappointing and frustrating, because I really was in a panic, which is the last thing you want to do on a day where you've been planning everything for MONTHS, and angry, because it was an expensive service we had to fix. If we hadn't ran so late it's possible I could've run back to Swink to have her pin it back up again quick, but there was just simply not enough time. Swink sent an automatic "Thank you for your visit" email that requested feedback about my experience, and I sent them most of the above, but they never contacted me again even to acknowledge they'd passed the feedback on to the appropriate people. That lack of follow-up really annoys me, so I can't really recommend them. read more

I was in town from Florida and they were able to squeeze me in last minute for a blow dry. I went on a Tuesday and their usual $40 blowdrys were $36! They use brand name products on your hair (I.e. Living Proof, Moroccan Oil, etc.) which is great b/c if you end up loving them you can buy it there or any big retailer later. My stylist was very friendly. While there I noticed they also do up-dos, make up and lashes. I walked out loving my hair and it's right in downtown. read more

I highly recommend Swink, especially this location. The atmosphere is always nice and the stylists have great taste and know what they are doing. I come here frequently and I'm almost always a happy camper. On ONE occasion was I dissatisfied. I brought it up to the front desk and she quickly apologized, refunded me and encouraged me to contact the owner. THAT is great customer service. I love this location even if parking is expensive. She listened to what I wanted, was personable and professional. Bri gave my long hair a wavy dry style. I wear natural looking makeup day to day, and requested a natural look with a smokey eye. I opted for the fake eyelashes. Bri delivered and then some. Can we say elegant yet sexy?! As a woman in her 40s I was thrilled with the results. I agree with the post that claims customer service is lacking at Swink.. I recently arrived back from a month long *unplanned* business trip and realized that I forgot to use my LivingSocial coupon before it expired just a week ago. The phone representative was unwavering in denying me to use the voucher. While I realize this is my mistake, they already have my $ - is being stubborn about the expiration really worth losing the additional $ I may have spent there in the future? To me it is a sign of future poor service, as I am seeing in reviews below. read more
