I discovered Swirk Soul Food while on my way to get my hair done at the Hair School a few businesses away. As a Milwaukee transplant, I had been searching for a good soul food spot since moving to Colorado. The first time I came in, I told Mr. Swirk that if the food was good, I'd be back. Since then, I've returned three times--and I plan on coming back again. My favorite order is the catfish sandwich it comes with a side. The fish comes out a beautiful golden color and is served with lettuce, tomato, onion, tartar sauce, and hot sauce. The catfish is battered perfectly--crispy, flavorful, and not overly salty. Every bite was delicious. The menu offers a great variety of soul food favorites. I noticed greens, sweet potatoes, red beans and rice, shrimp, and several other comforting dishes. There was something for everyone. What really stands out is the customer service. Mr. Swirk always acknowledges customers when they walk in. Whether he's busy or not, he lets you know he'll be with you shortly or takes your order right away. That personal touch makes you feel welcome. As for the atmosphere, it's a good old-fashioned soul food dive--the kind of place where the focus is on great food, friendly service, and feeling at home. No fancy frills, just good cooking and good people. If you're looking for authentic soul food and perfectly fried catfish, I highly recommend Swirk Soul Food. Thank you, Mr. Swirk. Very Disappointed, apparently there are 2 menus to be found online for Swirk Soul Food. What I traveled 30miles round trip for I didn't get. What did buy left me hoping not to get sick from. Everything I trashed. You could smell it had been cooked in Burnt Grease. The fries had been redropped. Red Beans and Rice uneatable especially with the smell of possibly Old Burnt Grease in your nose. All things said, I wonder if it was mainly leftovers, they that should have been trashed if you know what I mean. Is Soul Food the only work being put in here? Ordered here on December 12, 2025. Ordered through DoorDash. Only order here if you want diarrhea. Half the order was burnt. Other half smelled like an .! I will never use DoorDash again or order from this restaurant. And I've been a loyal for over two years of DoorDash and this disgusting barbecue joint. read more

The greens and fried catfish filet were sooooo good. I don't know how they're seasoning those greens but they were delicious. Also had the rib sandwich and it was okay. I think the ribs are baked instead of off the bbq grill which is fine if you like that. Order took about 15 minutes. We used Google to search for a spot, which caused us to go to 2 places before deciding on this one. First place ran out of catfish, They suggested a place, but the 2nd place was closed. So this was our third choice. We did not like the food here at all. A Southern girl knows good food. The catfish was fried crispy and looked good, but it was not farm-raised. (Which I asked before ordering) The red beans and rice were from a box, (Zatarains) as a matter of fact, the coleslaw was soggy, fries were cold and hard. The cakes are from Walmart. The owner was kinda nonchalant and not too friendly. The price was fair and the portion was plenty, but we will not come back. The service is kinda and speedy, the only issue I've ever had was trying to get through on the phone (because they're on it so much taking orders ). Small restaurant with about 6 tables. Lots of people ordering food to take out. Stood in line for a little while before being asked for our orders. Mind you, there were only two men working, so i didnt mind the wait. They were doing everything. Cooking, order taking, preparing the plates. Everything is served in to go containers by the way. All dinners come with two sides. Other meals include one side. Prices a little on high side but portion sizes are good. VERY good. I ordered the fried chicken dinner with mac n cheese and greens. I really enjoyed all of it. Meals are served with plenty of sauces. My friends ordered the catfish fillet dinner with okra and mac n cheese and the other ordered catfish meal which came with fried catfish fillet and shrimp sides were fried okra and baked potato. I called and placed my order 30 mins prior to my arriving for a 15min time frame...I wanted to give some extra time to make sure my order was ready....45 mins later having sat in the lobby that was dreadfully hot I began to feel lightheaded...and don't let me get started on all the flies that were let in from the outside because of the propped front door that did nothing for air flow of the restaurant. A woman had to rub her baby down with ice as she waited to pick up her order....Im disappointed because the woman who works very hard in the kitchen is so sweet...hopefully this will bring positive change read more

When this restaurant first opened it was very good. Had a bad experience a few months ago but decided to give them another chance. Ordered Pork ribs and Beef brisket. Ribs were ok. Not great. Beef Brisket tasted like a chuck roast pot roasted and smothered in barbecue sauce. Very mediocre. We threw half of it in garbage. Cole Slaw is excellent but portions stingy. Their Okra is good but should be because it is in season. Macaroni and Cheese did not taste fresh. Next time I will drive a little further to a place that is better or just go to one of the reliable chains. read more

The only thing good was the sauce. It was barely any smoked flavor and the ribs were completely tough and chewy. The peach cobbler had one peach and a bunch of crust that was mushy. Don't waste your money honestly I was so disappointed. The greens taste like it came from a can and they added a lot of vinegar. The okra was not crispy tastes like fried fish. And unfortunately the yams were mushy more like watery. The only thing that was good was the fish. So I would not recommend this restaurant. Better off cooking your own food. What a huge surprise! I got the Catfish Special with 5 fried shrimp 2 sides (I chose greens and potato salad) about $12, my boyfriend got BBQ pork ribs, same sides about $18. My catfish filet was huge, breaded and fried perfectly. The greens, served cold (I prefer warn) were outstanding! Wow! The ribs, meat fell off of the bone but reported to be on the "chewy" side. So happy we tried a new place. I love a good mom and pop shop. If you've got a taste for some GOOD catfish. Skip the franchise and give this place a try. I had the pulled pork sandwich and the beef both good, but what I enjoyed must was the okra and the best hush puppies Ive had in a VERY long time. That was quite possibly the worst meal I have ever eaten. I ordered the whole catfish meal. It was so fried hard I could barely find any meat. The greens are nasty and the fried okra was also fried beyond oblivion. They were also the circumference of my pinky finger. The Coke 0 mountain was only distributing seltzer, no syrup.
