Sydney's was an oasis of calm while Main Street Westhampton Beach looked like the fall of Saigon. The shop is cute. Seating in the cafe was comfy. There were samples of charcuterie on a table. I had the Dr. DeCovey sandwich and my wife had a Dierdre wrap. The sandwiches were really good, with quality ingredients. The atmosphere was calm and the kids behind the counter were nice. Prices are a bit above average. Very good lunch. A bit spendy. No evidence of staff discord today. read more

Wonderful breakfast at Sydney's Taylor Made Cuisine in Westhampton Beach. My wife is still talking about her scrambled eggs with avocado--perfectly paired with what might be the best crispy bacon we've ever had. I had the Corned Beef Betty (poached egg, hollandaise), rich and spot on. Our daughter loved the "Squishy Eggs" with country ham--simple and perfectly done. Service stood out--the young woman who took our order had the entire menu memorized, including specials. Presentation felt like a high-end NYC restaurant. We also got a sneak peek at the new sushi bar upstairs and are already planning an omakase night with friends. Highly recommend. read more

I've been coming here for a few years and have always loved the food, it's so fresh. Yes it's expensive but I do think the quality is great. I've heard awful things about the owner and how she speaks to her staff. I've never seen it in action until today. The things that were coming out of this woman's mouth were disgusting. She treats her staff as if she is a queen and they are her slaves. All she did while I was there for maybe 15 minutes was yell at them and she does this in front of customers! I wanted to go behind the counter and give all the staff a hug no one should be spoken to this way. I am truly disgusted. Her behavior is despicable. read more

Surprise, surprise... Welcome back Sydney's. A gourmet eatery of Westhampton Beach was formerly tucked back on Main St. and easy to miss and pass by. Gone for six months Sydney's reemerged in a brand new much better location - In a big Victorian house right in the village, is a bright new version of Sydney's "Taylor" made cuisine. Some interesting items, lots of cool cheeses, sandwiches, and definitely an effort to make a simple sandwich gourmet and they always succeed. Went back and tried the stegwich this morning.. What is that? Ciabatta, filet mignon, "sticky eggs" (their term for scrambled), and gruyere. They have fresh salads - think beets, lobster, tuna, chicken, cucumber, chilled grilled salmon, various cheese, including fresh mozzarella, fruit, fresh croissants ( I saw spinach and chocolate - not mixed lol). Scones. All made on premises fresh. A big effort. Coffee, Iced tea, soups, etc. Nice grab and go dark chocolate.. etc.. ok, lots of etc.. It has been said by locals that the proprietor does not mince words with her staff or even patrons.. so when checking out their facebook page with the new Sydney's is back themed video.. The only down side I have seen is the impractical current policy where the staff direct patrons all to the owner for ringing up. I had to either wait for what looked like ten minutes or let it get cold... seeing a lovely dining room, I decided to stay and come back to pay. Great idea by the way. There was a nice sunroom / dining area but not yet full (though partial) table service which they say is coming soon. Will look forward to trying dinner when they have that going. My thoughts on looking at the porch and exterior... wondered if outside dining would be permitted... as it seemed they might need that with the popularity it will likely have very soon. read more

Stay away! Rating not about food but about customer service and safety - dangerous and chaotic environment inside this very small store. Crowds are not regulated and there were A LOT of people waiting inside for their orders. I did not feel comfortable eating their food because the food preparers are either not properly wearing masks or not wearing masks at all. Very slow and rude customer service too. read more

I gave this place another chance and unfortunately it was unpleasant as my first. The owner is rude and YELLS at her team blatantly on the floor. Plus yelling orders like I'm in a 1970 diner isn't exactly what I want on a Sunday morning. These kids are in what I'd consider a hostile work environment. I worked catering and in restaurants when I was younger and yes it can be high stress but it's no excuse to be condescending to your staff. As for food the $10 pressed coffee tasted like water. Omelette was good but made with a great deal of butter. I won't be returning. I'll wait in line at Caffeine to get my brunch! I gave this a second try because of the line at caffeine...my mistake. I'm compelled to write a review to speak of the utter rudeness and horrible treatment of the employees at Sydney's. I was in today for the first time, and in the 10 minutes that I stood waiting for my salad, I witnessed the awful way the owner treated her staff (and a customer). It was pretty shocking and felt really inappropriate...definitely difficult to watch. Clearly I'm not the first person who has witnessed this - I will definitely not be supporting this business ever again. Absolutely atrocious. read more

Restaurants should always strive for consistency, just not the kind of consistency Sydney's has achieved: EVERY TIME I've gone in, I've emerged with a case of heartburn from how unwelcoming and downright rude the owner is. There's a dark cloud inside this establishment. All of the employees act as though they're tiptoeing through a mine field, uncertain as to when the owner is going to scold or ridicule them in front of the clientele. Just went to Sidney's with a large food order. Now I have to bring my order to the cash register. Same counter person walks from counter to register empty handed without bringing one item with her, instead leaving me to go back and make 2 trips. When I point that out to her, another server (manager) flips out and starts SCREAMING at me, telling me I was not nice to her. I guess they didn't like my "illegal" comment. Of course, I left without my order. This is a store that is famous for this type of behavior. No more for me!! (BTW, after checking it is an FDA rule to remove the packaging (gross weight) and only charge for the food itself. BTW, I also noted that she weighed my food to include the heavy aluminum container and top and charged for both, instead of net weight only which is an FDA rule. My Mom and I visited Erin and her team for a grazing dinner last night. Wow was it amazing, clearly the best food in WHB. for 55 dollars we enjoyed Salmon swordfish, an outstanding Tuna with pepper crust, flank steak marinated so it was juicy and Med rare. Latly the Duck with peaches was sublime; then lastly their famous baby lamb chops and then a tomato panzella bread salad and artichoke salad and lastly burrata and prosciutto fresh from the heavens. My Mom would have liked some side starches, but I was fine. This was all you can eat by the way. Erin takes some solid hits on yelp for not suffering fools lightly, but she and her husband (the chef) are passionate about serving fantastic food while dealing with highly opinionated summer tourist crowd, but I will eat their food anytime. To be open we have had Erin cater many a big meal for our family gathering off season, and they have always been spot on. read more

I have been to Sydney's on multiple occasions hoping that the next experience would be better. Unfortunately it has not changed and each time I have been to the store I have experienced Sydneys toxic and abusive behavior to her employees. Today she decided to berate me after I questioned why one of her employees was not wearing a mask. Although she has a decent take out and catering business , I have finally decided to boycott her shop. I truly wish Westhampton could bring back the Ginger Peach which was once in this town. Went for brunch. Greeted by owner castigating waiter for not clearing a table. She loudly engaged a large family group in conversation while their child ran around the room. Ordered fresh squeezed OJ which was so sour it tasted like bad grapefruit juice. Two entrees were okay but the cappuccino came with cold foam on top, not steamed hot milk. Prices were high. This was our first time dining at Sydney's. My son lives in Westhampton and has been raving about the food for some time. Tonight (Saturday) we got to experience "A Grazing Evening at Sydney's" firsthand. Erin, the owner, is passionate about the food she prepares, which is evident in the presentation and quality of all the dishes she serves. Appetizer, salad and entree stations were set up for buffet style dining. Unlike typical buffets, the food is outstanding. Don't miss the Prosciutto wrapped scallops, pesto shrimp, scallop ceviche, and baby lamb chops. The atmosphere is casual and cozy and the service is excellent. This was a great fine dining experience and I highly recommend it! read more

I've never I my life seen an owner heap such abuse on her staff. In the ten minutes we waited in line, she constantly berated and yelled at them for very minor things, in full view of the customers. Recently dined here while on a weekend trip in the Hamptons for brunch and absolutely loved it. I visited with family as it was a suggestion by a family friend who has been a regular for quite awhile. We dined in their sunroom which was as beautiful as it was cozy. Complete with gorgeous decor, pillows, blankets and later on I learned hand-painted tiles, Sydney's definitely had quite the ambiance I look for in a restaurant. On to the food, we had an amazingly perfect filet mignon served open faced on an toasted English muffin topped with egg. We also had the banana pancakes, fresh fruit and quite an array of other various food all of which were honestly cooked to perfection. For drinks we tried the mimosas which had generous portions of prosecco, but not too much. All of this combined with hospitable and friendly staff made our visit the most pleasant stop in our stay at the Hamptons. I would strongly suggest this for anyone making a trip, or during the on peak Hampton season. read more

The best food in Westhampton Beach! A weekend in WHB isn't complete without a stop at Sydney's so I'm so happy that they have re-opened. The food is just as delicious as it used to be, if not better! My favorites from the market are the curry chicken salad, the lobster salad, the seared tuna with sesame seed crust (ask for the topiko mayo for dipping), the creamy potato salad, the cole slaw, coconut shrimp, and the BBQ ribs. Their BBQ sauce is to die for. They also have great appetizers like zucchini fritters, beggar's purses, crab cakes, etc. that you can freeze and save for a nice cocktail party at home. My favorite sandwiches are a soft shell crab wrap with cole slaw & remoulade and the shrimp caesar salad wrap. Their cheese selection is also fantastic. I always ask the owner Erin to help with recommendations. She has fabulous taste in cheese. They serve dinner now, which is freaking awesome! I went the other night with friends. Between the four of us, we had mussel lasagna, skirt steak, lobster and roasted duck. Everything was AMAZING! It's nice to know that there's another great place for dinner where the atmosphere is casual but the food is 5 stars! All in all, Sydney's has the best food in WHB. Great for eating in, taking out, or having your dinner party catered. I highly recommend it. read more

In short, I was insulted and badgered because of the wine I ordered--wine that, by the way, was on THEIR menu (she made it seem as though I was sommelier and had made a terrible choice for the menu). So, of course, I'd argue, she ended up insulting herself. I don't understand why someone so passionate about their business would put something onto their menu that they vehemently hated and deemed to be "mediocre"--then, make someone feel so awful for selecting it. One of the worst customer service experiences of my life. We are new to WH and discovered this place last fall when we first started coming out here. The food is very good although expensive (and typical sandwich or salad will run you around $15). But the owner, Erin, is beyond nasty and rude. Even when I placed a $300 catering order with her a few weeks ago, she was unpleasant to deal with, but I tried to overlook it. But today, on my third consecutive day of buying lunch there, the young woman behind the counter, Justina, was nasty to me and to her coworkers in front of me, and when I said something to Erin, she defended her and didn't seem to care at all about how I felt. I'm sure they have to deal with some unpleasant rich people out here but that doesn't give them license to treat everyone like shit. The food's not worth it. read more

(But you're guaranteed a delicious meal no matter what you order!) Erin and David have been making beef stew for our family's Christmas party for years and it never disappoints! Pop in and witness the banter Erin has with her talented staff. Erin has high standards for herself, their food and their employees. Some may not understand but if you spend any time there as a repeat customer you will soon find out she loves her employees and they are completely devoted to her as well. Can I give zero stars? The manager/owners's attitude is well documented, and apparently has even followed her to this new listing. I won't go into that, but is a running joke between my wife and I. The process the place follows to serve customers is also insane, but also well documented. That said, I have in the past sucked it up because I liked their sandwiches. But the quality has gone way downhill. Bread is often stale, the stuff is sitting around for days now. I literally just had cole slaw where the mayo had turned. Extremely overpriced food and alcohol and very underwhelming/barely poured what would constitute as a "glass" of wine was more like a tasting. The manager was berating her employees when we arrived from across the store, which made everyone visibly uncomfortable. The manager was also cursing and just creating a very hostile environment to be in. On top of being so incredibly rude and unprofessional, none of the staff was wearing a mask. They would put it on sometimes but it wouldn't be covering their nose. Wearing a mask is not only a safety concern it is a legal requirement. If customers must wear them, staff must as well. We left and chose a different restaurant where we met a friend whose daughter, ironically, had the same experience with this woman while working for her.
