In close proximity to our hotel downtown, this brunch spot was everything I thought it would be. After reading several reviews online, we decided to walk a couple blocks and give it a try. This was my first time visiting Denver and my friend chose this place to have brunch on her birthday Saturday, February 13th. Not even realizing it was Valentines Day weekend. After a TWO HOUR wait, I will shamelessly admit it was worth the wait!!! Due to CoViD and the seating guidelines they were offering tables in the lounge area, which is what we received at first....but my friend wanted the full experience it being her birthday (they had no idea), and they accommodated without blinking an eye. I would've given this place 5 stars if the beignets were closer to the real thing, it was more of a dense funnel cake than a beignet. Everything else was AMAZING!!! The biscuits are thick and flaky. The bacon is crispy and thick as well. The gravy is nonetheless you guessed it is THICK as well. I stopped in for some breakfast on my last day in Denver. This place was the top rated within walking distance of my hotel. A nice, clean restaurant with a large dining area and koalas of seating. The waitress immediately greeted me and was very friendly. The menu has some really awesome choices but I opted for the cracked pepper bacon and waffle sliders. Wow! They were incredible! Impressive flavor combinations and somewhat unique. I've not seen either dish elsewhere before today. Even the coffee was very good. Syrup is fantastic. I had a heck of a time trying to figure out where to take my friends to brunch when we were visiting Denver because there were SO many options. On recommendation from one of the guys who had been there before AND the fact that they had pretty cheap carafes of mimosas, we went with Syrup! We got there around 10:30/10:45 on a Sunday morning so naturally it was pretty packed. They did a great job of keeping everyone waiting spread out as well as spread out in the restaurant. They also had tables outside of the restaurant they were using for service which were spaced out. We ended up waiting around 30 min for 6 of us and we were seated. We ordered a few things to share up front - most notably the pigs in a blanket which were FIRE. And then we all got our own entree which was most definitely way more food than we ever needed. The burritos were MASSSSSSIVE. Like don't get one for yourself unless you want to eat it once at brunch and again for another hefty meal. The food was all great but there was a ton of it on every plate. Our server understood our vibe and kept bringing out mimosas until we asked him to stop. We were there for probably 2.5 hours and were never rushed or anything, just allowed to enjoy yourselves. Our server was great and could tell that we were from out of town. She immediately started recommending a multitude of food off the back and recommended we get a mimosa pitcher. We ordered that and a plate of beignets and they were incredibly quick with the food and drinks and we then ordered our entrees. I had the remedy and French toast and it was so good. The eggs were fluffy, the meat was seasoned and the French toast was sweet enough to the point that I didn't need to put syrup on it (perfect). After stuffing our face with mimosas and comfort food we paid (Less than around 25 per person for Mimosas/Food/Apps) and were on our way. Wow this place was freaking delicious that we ate here twice for breakfast considering it was just a three day trip in Denver for us! What a horrible experience. The 6 or so employees we could see when we walked in ignored us in an almost empty restaurant for about 15minutes before they sat us in the bar at a still dirty high top. The bartender who was also our waiter took our drink orders and then we watched him walk out the front doors and disappear for another 10 minutes. When we got our food, mine came out cold. Not warm or roomtemp, actually cold. Cold bacon, eggs, and gravy is not very appealing. I had to walk up to the bar to tell the bartender, who seemed annoyed that I interrupted his texting, because he definitely didn't come check on our table. Finally got my food after the people I was with had finished eating, but at least it was hot the second time. I have never had such a disjointed and uninviting meal anywhere before. I mean the presentation is pretty savage (in a very good way). I was feeling savory but it was still a tough call not to lean towards their sweet plates especially when your in a place where the name say's it all sweet and one of their specialities. The egg in my kitchen sink was cooked to perfection. The tots and the fries were nice and crunchy just the way we like it. CONS... My feedback for this would be, upon arrival there was no one to greet us and we waited a long minute before attended. On a defense, it was busier. Our waiter was attentive and nice but I almost felt a bit unwelcome or like she was rushing around when she checked on us. While I would not designate Syrup as a "must stop" location in Denver, it was very delicious. If I lived in the area I would certainly frequent this spot. We arrived around 12:30 on Labor Day and were surprised to be met with a 30 minute wait. Luckily, there was a lot of indoor seating for waiting patrons so the time passed quickly and with air conditioning. During COVID they have spread out their seating and have placed many of their tables outside of the restaurant but still within the building they reside in. So all the seating is still indoors and out of the sun. The service we received was average. When I asked for recommendations our waitress recited practically the entire menu. We were disappointed to find out that they were out of their award winning corned beef hash but luckily we were enticed by many other options. I eventually settled on the Double Berry Bliss Pancakes, based on the enthusiasm other Yelpers expressed. I was unfortunately not asked what type of syrups I wanted. I thought they would return later with the offering but instead they gave me a random selection of maple vanilla and buttermilk. They were both good but I was still disappointed to not have the option. The pancakes themselves did not disappoint. I could tell they were fresh as the edges were crispy and delicious when they came out. The inside tasted more like a cake than the pancakes I am used to. That combined with the fruits, whipped cream, and syrup made for a delicious breakfast. It would have been wise to order a side of bacon to break up the sweetness a bit but instead I was left unable to eat the whole meal. I would highly recommend this dish. Parking can be a little tricky on weekends but there are garages in the area, or street metered parking. There are plenty of options, but it took us a bit to find a spot nearby. There was a short wait on Sunday morning (party of 2), but you can get drinks while you wait, and there's plenty of seating right in the front of the restaurant, or in the amphitheater looking stair thing right outside in the complex. The menu is HUGE, so if you're indecisive like me I'd start scoping out what you want early. We got beignets for the table and they were good! Definitely better warm though, so don't sleep on them while you wait for other food. I got the maryland for my entree. The dressing on the salad is light which is great, and the mashed tots are fun and different (and good). They make the crab cakes in house and I thought they were tasty!
