My best friend recommended this place. Inchecked the menu and interior andnit blew my mind with how farm and modern the interior is. The Customer Service here was so good they made sure we were ok and the wait was fast for a Sunday.

Too bad that the other staff were weird creeps, because our server was good and so was the food. A waitress repeatedly backed herself into me after sitting the loudest table directly behind us, when there was plenty of other open tables. The staff acted as whatever the opposite of Midwest hospitality is. What an embarrassing way to consult yourself. Women haters work here. Pretty pretentious vibes for a small town brunch spot with pretty affordable prices.

We drove 30 minutes to get here on a Saturday when neither one of us are working, solely based on Yelp reviews. Our "motto" is try any place once. So I arrived in a wheelchair due to my recently broken pelvis. Thank goodness my husband Ed is giant, tall and strong and can easily carry me around when needed (in this case to and from the car). Inside, the Host was very accommodating for a table. She moved a chair somewhere else so there was room for Ed to park me and my wheelchair. We were able to get disabled parking (which I temporarily have), and there was a ramp at the entrance but no button to press to automatically open the double doors. . Onto the stuff Yelp readers care about. My husband loved the coffee and was offered a coffee for the road when we left. Pretty much I hate "American Breakfast" at 99% of places because the only vegan offering is potatoes. Sometimes not even that if the potatoes are cooked in butter, not oil. They were vegan by default here, cooked in oil My husband got his very favorite, Eggs Benedict. Whether he likes the Hollondaise or not pretty much determines if we shall return to a breakfast diner. He said there was nothing bad about the Eggs Benedict, but he would not return for them. There was nothing much for vegans either, so I would not return. We both (an omnivore and a vegan) both greatly disliked the breakfast potatoes. However, thservice was fantastic, especially as a first-time person in a wheelchair. Celeste, our server, could not have been more kind. Sandy, the Manager, stopped by every table to make sure things were going well. Honestly, that earned them the 4 stars. If I had rated them on the food alone, perhaps a 2 star. So for us, we will not be back. But I would suggest that others do not try this place out.

Casual breakfast spot with modern design. This place has an array of great options for breakfast. I was personally so thrilled to find out this place has oatmeal available. Most places that offer oatmeal bowls serve is plain with no toppings which is VERY disappointing since oatmeal can truly be a great meal when done properly like fruit n honey like this place. For this fact alone this is a 8/10 in my book. The staff are patient and kind, I would definitely come back again.

I had a few minutes to spare before teaching my class in St. Charles, and instead of grabbing something quick at Culver's down the street, I noticed a cute little spot called Eat at Syrup. What really drew me in was that they offered turkey bacon on the menu. Any place willing to provide a pork alternative is worth my time. The exterior is modern and very clean, especially for being in a strip mall. The interior matches that vibe--lots of clean whites, black lettering, and even a small area that's clearly meant for photos if that's your thing. The staff I interacted with were kind and helpful. I started with a decaf coffee with flavored cream and a shot of caramel. For my meal, I ordered the basic two eggs with potatoes, turkey bacon, and a slice of cinnamon French toast. The flavors overall were fine--nothing too bold, but enjoyable. I especially liked the French toast, though it was a little firmer than I expected; a softer texture would've made it even better. The potatoes were the only real letdown. They had more of an "air fryer" feel--light and a bit dry--when I prefer them more sautéed or lightly fried with some crispiness. They weren't bad, just not what I was hoping for. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. I enjoyed my meal, and I'd recommend it if you're in the St. Charles area. I definitely plan to come back and try more. For this first visit, I'd give it a solid 3.5 out of 4. r

Tasty food! I got chicken and waffles. The service is good, but I always feel like they're hoping we'll leave quickly. It's bustling on the weekends, so I get it, but I'm going to take my time and enjoy myself.

One of my favorite breakfast places in the area! I love the clean, pleasant decor and the fact that I've never had to wait for a table. Their regular chicken and waffles with chives was delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly (crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside). Our server, Amber, was the best server we've had. She was excellent at multitasking (she was helping all the tables in the area we were seated), friendly, and quick. She was great about the timing with asking how the food is, taking straw wrappers right away, and asking if we wanted to-go boxes and cups without skipping a beat.

Stopped in for breakfast and had about a 40 minute wait, which was expected on a busy Sunday morning. The food was good and their drinks are very refreshing! They offer a variety of fresh squeezed juices and brunch's tails. Beware the portion sizes are quite large for their dishes. I had the strawberry smash drink (not pictured) and would recommend for a spiked lemonade twist with fresh fruit mixed in. Billion $ bacon was smokey and sugary worth a try kids love 'em.

Very popular and busy place, we came at 10:30am on a Sunday and there was already a small wait, when we left there were several groups waiting. Large selection or brunch items. Portion sizes are decent, I got the Santa Fe omelette and only managed to finish half my food (didn't even touch my pancakes which I upgraded from an English muffin). I got their blueberry basil limeade which I enjoyed but was more tart than I expected. Service was good, they refilled our waters multiple times and didn't rush us even though the restaurant was busy and people were waiting.

This was only my second time at syrup but it was great once again. I got the mediterranean omelet which was amazing and I was able to get egg white substituted which was great. I also got a side of the cinnamon roll French toast which was delicious. My omelet also came with a roasted potatoes which were nice and crispy. Portions are very generous and prices are average given the area. Our server was very attentive and fast. Great experience.

It is a modern restaurant that serves breakfast, brunch, and lunch with no boundaries. The style of decor is inspired by rusty farm design. The color scheme is black and white monochromatic; giving the layout the appearance of being broader The menu is simple, but it contains a wide range of enticing items. I chose their famous breakfast (legendary breakfast), which included two sunny side up eggs (cage free eggs), grits, bacon (billion dollar bacon), and a side of two mini waffles. The bacon is crispy and caramelized to perfection. There's a hint of sweetness. I'm assuming it's honey-coated. It's unfortunate because it was the only thing I enjoyed. I was anticipating the grit because I never had it before. It doesn't look appealing at all, just a pile of mush covered in cheese sauce and topped with chopped herbs, possibly parsley? The first taste was terrible; it was flavorless and so disappointing that I didn't bother finishing it and gave it away. The eggs and waffles were delicious. I'm delighted it was nicely executed. I'm not sure why it's labeled legendary when it was average. The meal was not particularly filling, so I added a side of cinnamon roll French toast. It has a beautiful crust and fluffy crumb. It was drizzled with cream cheese frosting/syrup. I smiled broadly due to the sensation of the vanilla and cinnamon blended together with every bite. This meal alone had redeemed itself and softened the blow. This restaurant is not horrible at all; I just ordered the wrong items. I hope to return if I'm in the neighborhood.

I came in with friends for a little boozy brunch and we had an amazing time. The atmosphere is so welcoming. I was impressed with the new modern look! We had a few mimosas which were amazing - made with fresh squeezed orange juice! I switched it up one time and ordered strawberry, which I liked even better. We spoke with the manager, Sandy, who came up to us to check on how we were doing and how everything was. She was so welcoming and sweet. We told her that it would be nice for them to offer a bottomless mimosa special in the future. I think it would appeal to a younger crowd especially since the mimosas were so yummy. Sandy listened to our feedback and told us she would pass it along. I could tell that she genuinely loved her job and she was so nice! I will definitely be back again soon. read more

I have been wanting to go here and finally... this is it. Upon coming in, our temperatures were checked and i thought this place is super chill. Like a place that's "instagrammable" (if thats such a word. Lol). PETRA is our server. She really took care of us. She was very patient when i couldnt decide on what to order. My boyfriend ordered the salmon benedict, he said he likes it and its good. I had the biscuits and gravy and ehem ehem the nutella crepe. Me being a sweet kinda person of course loved the crepe so much. It has bananas, strawberries. I love it. the biscuits and gravy could use more seasonings. Other than that, its all good. The food was served in a way that you wouldnt eat it without taking a picture first, and i like that too. read more

Excellent fired roasted soup and a fine adult grilled cheese the flavors of the cheeses and the bacon jam and the subtle flavor of the crisp green apple it paired well in the sandwich and then to have the soup pair with the sandwich that I can honestly say was out of this world with flavor. I can say without a doubt yes no complaints here and will be back for sure. read more

I met up with a relative here. I love the place as soon as I entered, and I truly enjoyed the variety in their menu. I had the Swedish pancakes, which came that only with lingonberry butter, but also with cooked Lingen berries. I mentioned to the staff that I was debating between that and a Reuben sandwich when she mentioned that I could get just an order of corn beef on the side. Not even corn beef hash, but I got a plate of corn beef. Awesome. My nephew ordered an omelette that was bigger than most burritos I've ever seen. The place and food were awesome. The high praise from Yelp that Syrup gets is definitely earned, what ever you choose they do big portions with quality the house made biscuits light and fluffy, chicken was moist and savory the seasoned potatoes one of a kind, would of given 5 stars but the signature bacon is super greasy and closer to jerky, have to chew quit a bit. Meh. Not sure why people crowd here. Eggs served cool, gluey potato pancakes, potatos boring. Like boiled and quickly thrown in a pan? On the plus side, they have plant based sausage- that's good. The portions are huge- like one dish could feed a family of four-five. But I would rather have better tasting food in a reasonable size. read more

Went here for a late breakfast on a random Wednesday in October. The dining room is loud. Nothing built into the design to help absorb noise. It's just loud and unpleasant. I can't imagine what a busy Sunday brunch sounds like. The Belgian waffle was bland and absent of the powdered sugar was flavorless. The maple syrup had been watered down. The lemon syrup was also watery and not very flavorful. My decaf coffee was palatable. Waitress did ask if I wanted a refill to go, which was a pleasant surprise. $15 for waffle, no sides and a coffee was ridiculous. This was my first and only visit. read more

Meh. Tried a few times. Portions are weirdly large. Aren't we done with giant portions? Ordered coconut French toast. Came out on small plate. For 12.50 should be smaller with a savory side. Husband ordered the eggs Benedict. Giant slabs of ham on it. Weird. I agree with other comments that bacon and meats are way too Smokey. Look at your menu and scale back. Keep it interesting but smaller and more diverse. read more

The food was absolutely horrible and watery. We ordered chilaquiles and the black beans were dumped right out of the can, water & all. We ordered an omelette with egg whites. They served us runny scrambled eggs instead. The portion sizes are obscenely huge. The server did not even once come and ask if everything was ok. Not acceptable at all. Will never visit this place again nor recommend to anyone. read more

Syrup is one of my favorite places to grab a quick meal in a clean environment and this is my second time visiting the St. Charles location. I'm giving 2 stars because the food was exactly what I expected, excellent, but the service was far less than what I've experienced at this location and others. When I was seated the table had been wiped down and was still wet, I used my napkin to wipe away the moisture and sat it on the outer end of the table. The waitress never removed it, which was extremely disappointing. In addition, I was provided no napkins until I asked a different waitress that was passing by. I ordered tea and water with lemon, I had to ask for a second straw. If it had been extremely busy I would probably overlook it but it wasn't. I'm sure I will still enjoy meals at Syrup but it probably won't be the St. Charles location. read more

Delicious food! I stopped by on a weekend trip because of a recommendation from a local. The menu is extensive and varied and there were plenty of vegetarian options and great coffee. The service was also quick and efficient- there were 25 people in our group and they had no problem splitting the bill. read more

I went for a friends Birthday and we ordered 2 pumpkin pancakes dishes, bacon, 1 hot tea & 1 Strawberry OJ. Food was delicious but our waitress was so clumsy, she spilled the juice on the floor by the table and some on the table, we had to ask for napkins to clean the table. The floor was covered in juice and we had to have someone come over to clean it as we would of stepped right into it when getting up. The waitress came back to the table behind us to give them silverware and she dropped this as well onto the floor. Besides our poor clumsy waitress , my real complaint was the bill $80!! They included a tip into the bill but , there is no way that the breakfast should of cost that much! It was good but not that good! We will not be returning read more

I was sad to see colonial close but tried Syrup yesterday and so was pleased! We went around 10:00 on Monday (holiday) - it was crowded so there was a short wait. Everyone working was so nice and they were all working so hard. I had an ice coffee, biscuits & gravy & eggs - all EXCELLENT!! Partner had legendary breakfast and loved it. Serving portions are large - I had 2 more breakfasts with my leftovers! Very impressed with the staff - working SO hard and super friendly. Can't wait to come back.. read more

SYRUP is a great spot! From the moment I walked through their entrance door. Their staff was welcoming, friendly, and decent. All of them are working so fast and I can really tell that they really love their job. They serve all of the orders on time and while hot. Their menu is full of affordable and fair offers. They have appetizers, rice meals, sandwiches, coffee, fries, fried chicken, pancakes, waffles, biscuits, and others. Everything was on point and really awesome. I am really satisfied and I will definitely go back again just to order again. SYRUP is definitely the best breakfast place in town! They have so many unique options. The whole place is big and interesting. Very cozy, clean, bright, and organized. You can definitely relax and enjoy the place. They have lots of tables and chairs. Enough for a few customers visiting them every day. SYRUP is a gem! Their location is very accessible and they are near other well-known places around the area. You can easily visit them. This place never disappoints. If you are nearby you must give this place a try. I will definitely be back here again soon when I got some free time. Highly recommended spot! Absolute best place for breakfast anywhere around!! The staff is exceptional and work great as a team! Portions are HUGE and have exceptional flavor. Variety of menu choices are original and will leave you wanting to try them all. Chicken and waffles is amazing! Only place I will go for breakfast! Great drinks too! I have eaten at Syrup a few times now, and everytime everyone in our party is satisfied, and the food is amazing. The chicken is crunch and cooked to perfection. The flavors are unique, and many if the dishes can't be found elsewhere. Yummy! read more

My husband and I stopped here for breakfast and changed our minds to the burger! It was large, juicy and had amazing flavor. The place was bustling but everyone was still very friendly and our waitress super friendly and efficient. We will definitely be back to try more menu options. My 7yo daughter and I just wanted to grab a bite to eat before heading home to Yorkville after an appointment in StC. We used to live right by where Syrup is now but it was a Colonial Cafe when we moved. When we first walked in, I was pleasantly surprised by how they remodeled and decorated it since colonial left a lot of color behind. It was modern and trendy, and they had a nice farmhouse vibe. We got there at 10:45am on a Saturday, and there was a 25m wait for 2 people. We decided to wait in our car because the waiting area was packed and Covid is so bad right now. But if it weren't a pandemic, their waiting area is nice and out of the way. I got a text when our table was ready and we walked in and we're seated immediately. We got water immediately even though it was very busy. Then a minute later, our server came and took our orders. My daughter loved the kids menu both the food options AND the activities on it. We played tic-Tac-toe while we sipped our S'moreo hot chocolates. Then she got the kids chocolate chip pancakes with a sausage link, and I got the ham and cheese crepes (they're called something else on the menu, but I can't remember the name.) they brought 2 hot syrups to our table. One looked like regular syrup (not sure if it's authentic maple syrup or corn syrup based.) and a white syrup they said was a house-made sweet cream syrup which tasted like frosting you would want on your cinnamon rolls. YUM!!! Everything was delicious and a good temperature. There are huge portions, so I only got through 1/4 of the crepes. Delicious and fun. Good prices too. Highly recommend! read more

WOW!! Come with an appetite!! We arrived around 11AM and were wait listed. Only took 15 minutes to be called. Used the time to peruse the extensive menu. I had chicken and waffles (small order) and husband had a eggs Benedict with salmon. HUGE portions. Food was delicious. Only negative was the coffee wasn't hot. My husband also had the Bloody Mary after seeing someone else's drink. Spicy and yum. Highly recommend Syrup. read more

Started off my day super early to attend a doctor appointment. Long story short after hearing great news it meant to celebrate with a big breakfast! I noticed Syrup come up as a popular new breakfast/lunch restaurant. Reviewed the menu and I was sold. The restaurant aesthetics is modern, minimal, simple. The environment just felt refreshing. We were greeted, had our temperatures taken, and seated. All the staff was wearing masks. Social distancing. The layout is well organized. After reviewing the menu, I decided to order the Classic French toast, yogurt parfait, and an oat milk vanilla latte. Everything was absolutely delicious! The French toast was served with cinnamon butter and sweet cream syrup. The parfait was filled with berries and some granola. I recommend the oat milk latte it's probably the best one I have ever had. I will definitely be returning to eat here again ! We like Syrup for breakfast; we visit it often; the servers are nice, the restaurant is clean overall. Today we tried the cluck cluck - the skillet - while the chicken was nice and fresh, and eggs were good; yet the potatoes were rather cold, not crunchy and kind of old. We could definitely say that those potatoes were not made to order at all. The green peppers in it were not cooked either. I wish the potatoes tasted fresher, which quite disappointed me... For those who are curious, the salsa verde that is used can be a little spicy for those with a more sensitive pallet. My toddler and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel that the prices are very reasonable. When we were leaving, my mother and I were each handed a rose and told happy Mother's Day. This was the extra mile. Not only do they provide so many made-in-house options (fresh squeezed juice, etc), and complimentary soups; they knew that something so small as handing out single roses to mothers, could make a huge impact.. and they did it. For those of us that are single parent and have toddlers, such a small act of kindness really goes a long way. Thank you Double Egg for going the extra mile. We'll definitely be back again.

Both looked exactly alike, except that the former contained noodles. Now, I love navy bean soup, but theirs was thin and watery, and I counted fewer than 10 beans lurking in my cup. My Philly steak wrap was no less disappointing. The meat was tough, overcooked and dryish. There appeared to be more wrap than filling. My Missus ordered the "Papa Sampler." From the menu description this sounded like a take on Denny's Grand Slam breakfast, offering various egg, meat and starch options. Generous portions? I'm afraid not. The smallish blobs of food on the single plate ranged from unexceptional to ordinary (except for the turkey sausage patty, which was inedible); and "Papa" surely would have balked at receiving only one small biscuit.

My wife's favorite though, their lobster roll (formerly one of the best I've ever had in the United States, and I travel along the east coast quite a bit), has taken a hit harder than anything else on their menu from what I can ascertain. $31 now, which isn't new, it's been $31 since the beginning of 2026 from what I can remember, but $31 and it's probably 30% smaller than it used to be. For $31 you get a lobster roll that literally looks like a piece of Texas toast folded in half now, a 30% smaller portion of lobster, and if by some off chance you order the side salad, the side salad is also smaller. I can go on about all of the other cuts that are evident, but the $31 lobster roll is about the best display of the dismal direction Nobel House is headed. Sad... Nobel House, you'll be missed.
