We had backyard patio pavers, 2 Sitting walls and lighting installed. Yard is now a comfortable and lovelier place to entertain. Maggie our salesperson was great and was always available and responsive to questions we had. We received some good discounts and great financing option. Peter our Project Mgr was also prompt, helpful, knowledgeable and available. The only thing preventing 5 stars is the cost of the "add ons" --we found these to be somewhat to very pricey. However, when we decided on final package, They did a very quick, quality job and Stayed close throughout. I was impressed by Owens Lynn from the first conversation I had on the phone, he was professional, alway prompt and in-fact, text me when he was on his way to my house. We had our back yard paved 10 years ago, we were pleased with the job then. Unfortunately, when we were out of town a window washing company, accessed our garden instead of a common area and power washed the pavers! Uneven streaks all over the pavers the sand between had been blown out, the seal was gone, we were concerned the stones were destroyed because it looked so bad! It was important to us to have System Pavers come out since they originally installed them. The job was meticulously restored and it was fair price. The patio looks so terrific. My husband and I are very happy with our new patio that was designed and installed by System Pavers -- we highly recommend them. Our SP Sales Rep Robert Frost met with us in our home for a free consultation and listened to our vision of what we wanted our backyard to look like and how we wanted to use it. He measured the area, helped us select materials, drew a sketch and provided us with an estimate. We shared with Robert our budget. He worked with us on a couple changes and helped us take advantage of their current "Pick Your Promo" for add'l savings. Typically, my husband and I meet with 3-4 contractors before making a decision but we decided to sign with SP during our consultation. We found Robert to be very knowledgeable with his product and appreciated his no pressure sales approach. On our 2nd appt, Robert introduced us to our SP Project Manager Lucas Fitch and we did a walk-thru of our project. They brought to our attention some potential drainage problems due to tree roots and shared with us the potential cost to fix it. Lucas did an outstanding job communicating with us throughout the process and answering all our questions in detail. I have never worked with a Project Manager that was so customer service driven. We knew that a project of this nature had the potential to be a major stressor, but Lucas and his crew quickly resolved problems that came up. My husband was disappointed with sand spilling out from the borders. Lucas went above and beyond to try to fix the problem. REVIEW OF SYSTEMS PAVERS Systems Pavers finished the last of three projects for us on May 9, 2019 demolishing a wooden deck and the underlying cement and installing pavers and an entry stoop and tying everything in with previous work. We chose Systems Pavers because they did two other projects for us spaced several years apart. For the first project in 2008, they turned ugly diamond-shaped cement slabs in the front courtyard into a beautiful entry and entertainment space. For the second project in 2010, Systems Pavers removed aggregate cement from the pool area in the back of our house, replaced it with pavers and added a walkway from the front courtyard to the pool area. It feels like we live in a resort! Each time we hired Systems Pavers all our expectations were met. From the meeting with the designer, Daniel Escoto, to completion, the project was well-orchestrated and timely. There was a crew here every day, the project manager, Peter Tong, kept in daily contact with us, and the work led by Jorge was completed on schedule. The crew is knowledgeable in demolition and installation and made the design work. They show up on time, finish on time, and clean up afterwards. We have not had one problem with Cal-Stone. Peter noticed that the pool had pulled away from the pavers (constant earth movement in this area), so he had the crew fill all around it with more sand. The staff is professional and accommodating, and the work is timely. We highly recommend Systems Pavers to anybody who wants to beautify their home using a company that is reliable and professional. read more

We have been looking for a good paver company to redo our walkway around the house which was partly gravel, partly concrete since last year. First it is not easy to get a recommendation. Most people I talked to have somewhat unhappiness with the paver they used. Then the quote is the all over the places, some are too cheap to be true some are somewhat seems trust worthy yet we simply couldn't find a company that people will recommend without reservation until we got recommendation of system pavers from our neighbor. Our designer is Scott I., not only is he very professional, knowledgable and absolutely knows and understands our needs, he is also very nice. He actually stops by our house twice on a Saturday and he answers phone call any time and always takes care of us. We really love him. He himself convinces us this is a trust-worthy company. Although they are far from cheap, we decide to go with them. Then we worked with Project Manager Dan B., in his first visit he recommended us to replace a portion of the paver that didn't occur to us that needs to be replaced. Once he brought up the idea, we love it immediately and realize that if we didn't do it , the yard won't have a complete new look. The project took a little more than two weeks, Dan always listen and attend to our comments and needs. We are absolutely 100% happy with the project. We are very pleased with the work that System Pavers did on our backyard project including, pavers, a putting green, lighting and some landscaping. Lucas the project manager and his team did a fantastic job and exceeded our expectations. I have worked with various contractors in the past and very rarely do you have a case where things that were promised actually got delivered. I can only say one thing: Wow! I started shopping around for landscaping for my backyard 2 months ago. Right from the introduction to planning to execution to 'yet to finish and I have no doubts on it now', it has been a breeze. Lucas, the project manager, is super awesome! Starting from walking through the project requirements to discussing options, he has been super flexible. He explains things really well and his management/supervisory skills are too good. He makes sure to visit every day to ensure the crew is on track, the materials are in place and to check whether I am aligned with how the project has shaped up and if any changes are needed. Just had our driveway and walk redone with System pavers, they did a solid job, were fast, and neat and tidy. And the process was very smooth and not much needed from us, as there was a permit that needed to be filed to recut a curb and deal with the local city paperwork. I applaud the guys on that. I do want to mention I was not very happy with the high pressure sales tactic. We had the gentlemen come out for a estimate and review, and he was solid, knew his stuff and showed us our options, And it was the inital meeting, and after his spiel, he said there was a crew on hold in the area, and they could begin on our project asap, if we put $ down right then and there. And We mentioned we wanted to think about it for a day or so, and he said the price will change drastically if we waited. I mean, it was our first estimate and it was $25k we're talking about here, so I am sorry If I need a day or so to think it over. In the end we went with System pavers, as their warranty is rock solid ( no pun intended) and they seem like a very pro operation which they were, I just would like it to be known their high pressure sales tactics are not the way to go. About 7 years ago System Pavers built a a patio in our back yard that included a BBQ island, Water feature, and a perimeter wall that doubles as a bench. A few weeks ago we noticed that some of the capstones became loose. I called System Pavers and Nick returned my call the next day and within a few days Nick inspected the job and assigned a crew to make the repairs that same day. We had System Pavers do our entire backyard back in 2010. In 2011, a section had started to deteriorate, pulling away from the edge of our pool. System Pavers came out, looked at it, and re-did the entire section, no questions asked. Fast forward to 2018...Our entire backyard was starting to look bad, lots of places where the pavers were uneven, creating tripping hazards around the pool, low spots where rain would collect, it needed work. I reached out to System Pavers, not sure what to expect since it had been 8 years since our install. The project manager, Richard (who was also the project manager on our original install) came out, took a few pictures and said "no problem, we will take care of it". Sure enough a few days later an entire crew came out and started the process...what did they do? They tore up the entire previous installation, and re-did the entire backyard....AT NO CHARGE TO ME! I mean, really, how many companies stand behind their work like that any more? Really happy with System Pavers. We received a quote of the work involved from Systems Pavers. Remove existing retaining wall, put in a new retaining wall & cover the holes in the ground with a new retaining wall. Also put in artificial lawn. The sales person was great. The person in charge of the job was not great & would not listen to our concerns. They never covered the holes in the ground of the existing retaining wall with the new retaining wall instead they filled it in with concrete. They never back filled the dirt behind the retaining wall as well. We changed our minds during the process to have 2 steps put in to access the upper level of our yard. They added $1000 to the cost & we had to write a separate check to a person. Our artificial lawn was not the best quality & our dogs found a seam & torn the artificial lawn. We called SP to help us fix the lawn but instead they wanted to put a walkway in the middle of the artificial lawn & charge us an additional $1000. Image a walkway in the middle of your lawn that goes no where. Then this spring we turned on our sprinklers & looks like they did not cap a sprinkler near the new wall. It leaks water in the new wall. Below are pictures of the 4 of the 6 holes they filled with cement & the $1000 of 2 steps we had put in. They are a top-of-the-line business, but their prices are reasonable for the quality of the work they do. They installed pavers on our driveway and the entryway to our front door, all ahead of schedule and with the greatest of attention to our concerns, even removing and replacing a couple of small sections that were not to our satisfaction. Javier is the project manager who implemented our backyard design. He and his team are just incredibly awesome. Javier planned the execution very well and thinks ahead. He made sure that our driveway is not blocked and advised his team to have the materials on a different area. Every part of the execution was planned in detailed and communicated in advance. He also did added drains to make sure that the work is done correctly. He calls everyday and provides an update. He made sure that we are happy and adjusted the work based on the feedback. The site was really cleaned well after the job. He also made sure that the public road infront of our house clean after the job is done. Hats off to him and his team. The above review (5 stars) is just for Javier and his team. For the design/sales team I would provide a 3 stars. When the quote was provided the area was no calculated properly. The quote was for a larger area size than my backyard. Also the quote did not contain some critical items that was needed for the job to be done correctly. After talking to the manager, he included that also in the work, but had to reduce the work area of some of the other places of the yard . There were a few more items like this and I had to pay additional amount than the original quote/contract. Make sure you mark the size of the area for each of the work item in the quote and the contract. read more

The design from Patrick was great, and captured what we were looking for, and Javier and his team's excellent attention to detail and communication during the installation really brought the whole thing together. So I get a pm from someone claiming to represent System Pavers, apologizing for the behavior of the salesman. Gives quite a lengthy essay about the challenges of getting the right people to work for them and sometimes they unfortunately strike out. I empathized, as I've certainly hired some lemons in my time too. I accepted said apology, but that doesn't mean I'm going to become a customer. Anyway, the dude offers me a restaurant gift card to try to mend fences and make me feel better about the company. Asks for my home address to mail the gift card. Yeah, right. Gift cards can be emailed, you twat. He obviously wanted my address so another dimwitted salesguy could peck around. I sent him an address that is not my house. In fact, not any house. The doofus then pm'ed me again, this time telling me that the value of the gift card will be based on how well I revise my review! So I was supposed to be a good little twit and tweak my experience to look more positive and include how nice this guy was being and raise their stars. I was also supposed to agree to another sales visit. THEN I'd be mailed the coveted restaurant gift card. Does "fuck off" mean anything to you? Not only that, but the clown clearly failed to notice that the bogus address I sent him is not for a house. How could I be a System Pavers customer without a house? Wouldn't a paving outfit recognize this? It had been years -- maybe I'd downsized to a shithole by then, or was living in my car and gave a friend's address. Lame! Not really sure how to write this review because they didn't do any work at my home. So I will tell you my limited experience so maybe someone else won't waste any time. I have a small area of my backyard that needs help. This area is about 20 x 25ft. It used to be a garden and is now just flat dirt. I didn't want to mow so I decided on hardscape, but had no ideas. I heard the radio ad on KGO. Wow, this sounds great. They will come over and do a free landscape design with the bid. Yatzee! How fabulous does that sound? I will have some help with ideas. The sales person comes by on time. He is pleasant and courteous. He tells me that he can't do a rendering or landscape design, but he will give me his opinion. HUH???? I tell him I just want pavers with a border and to leave areas around the perimeter for plants. He takes some measurements figures out that it will be 260 sq ft of pavers and gives me an estimate for $18,000. I almost peed myself. So I have flat dirt, no demo, a clean slate if you will. I received nothing as far as a design. Flat area with no wall, no seating area, no irrigation for perimeter, no "water feature" just a flat slab with base quality materials ..... all for the special price of $18,000 ???? Well, because of the shaky start I decided to throw out my bid with theses guys. I was promised a landscape design and a landscape architect to help design my yard and it did not happen, and considering that their price was more than triple other bids, they were round filed. I would advise to look elsewhere unless yu have a preference for wasted time and paying through the nose. read more

Less than 0 stars. I'm putting this review back up because I was forced to take it down by coercion before SP would finish my driveway or do any warranty work. We're past that point now, and I'm hiring another company to fix the grading problems that are now occurring. To be fair, if you have an incredibly simple installation they will probably be fine, but expensive. Go with KC Paving in Redwood City instead. Original review I was blackmailed into pulling down: My experience mirrors that of Julie H. It has been over one year since SP started work and I still do not have a finished driveway. Here's their MO: 1. Slick salesman befriends you 2. Bid is reasonable 3. You get assigned a Field Supervisor 4. Sub-contracted crew starts work, they don't speak English 5. Field Supervisor is not around much to supervise 6. Something goes wrong with the job 7. SP is not around to fix it, or takes ages Here's my story: The first crew broke my main sewer pipe while demoing my driveway. Fortunately my contractor, while doing other work, noticed this and we were able to save it without too much trouble. If it had gone unnoticed it would have caused massive problems a few years later. They improperly graded the excavation, then tried to cover it up by laying down the base gravel, much too thin in some areas. Since we had other work to do (irrigation and electrical pipes), we had told them to just excavate and then allow us to set some pipes, but they put down gravel instead. They refused to remove it. It took MONTHS of calls, emails etc to have them come back to complete the job, basically they worked for 3 days and then abandoned the site, while the pallets of pavers blocked access to the ONLY fire hydrant in our neighborhood. A second crew finished the installation, and the ONLY reason it came out well is because I hired my contractor (another $2K) to stand there and watch the crew work. He had to correct numerous mistakes. I thought this was supposed to be the Field Supervisor's job, but I was mistaken. Silly me. The second crew cut the pavers using a wet saw on the installation, so there were slurry stains, which took SP FOUR MONTHS to address. And when they did, whatever product they used to clean the stains made the stains worse. This is just the tip of the iceberg of what went wrong. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY FOR ANY REASON WHATSOEVER. You will regret it. They have slick marketing materials, slick salesman, slick Field Supervisors, and all of them will bow to you and make you feel like a king, but the sub-contracted work will be crap unless you have knowledge of the process and are there to constantly supervise. It'll look fine on the surface, but if things aren't done right underneath then you'll have problems down the road. read more

My wife wanted to get a quote for paving our driveway, patio and front walkway/porch. We met with Ian, who was very professional and knowledgeable. The quote for all the projects was well above our budget, so we settled on the driveway. Their quote was comparable to others plus they said the rate we locked in was for as long as we owned the house and any other projects, so we will definitely have them do the rest of the projects. The project Manager, Javier was great. He kept us up to date on the when the project would start, how it was progressing, and made sure we were happy with the project from start to finish! The work crew was one of the hardest working crews I've watched. I was so Impressed that one night, at the end of their day, I bought them a case of beer to take home and enjoy. I feel good and happy that I chose System Pavers to do the pavers in my backyard, actually now that the project is complete I feel really, really good. The sales process was a little more in depth than I expected but there were a lot of choices in products and so the sales guy had a lot to show. Finally decided on a beautiful quarry style stone and then the price was worked out. Three weeks later, they were in my backyard getting down to work. The finish product is great and now I spend more time on my new patio than I ever spent before. Buyer Beware Their salesmen/front men showed up and reviewed the project: I wanted SAFETY lighting installed for my elderly mother. They explained in detail how they would do it- lights on the WEST side of the drive way, and lights on the insides of posts going towards the front door. We agreed on all details. I was unable to be there for the installation, but when I arrived. I found lights installed on the EAST side of the drive way, with stones in front of the lights to protect the lights from being run over by cars backing up, PLUS lights on the OUTSIDE of the posts. When asked why, they said the installer made the decision to install the lights that way because it, "Accentuated the outside of my home." I don't need curb appeal, I live in a quiet cul-de-sac in the country, I needed SAFETY lighting for disabled people. When they saw my review they quickly came out to remedy the broken driveway light and reposition the safety lighting to light the walkway as I'd asked. The man who came was very pleasant. When he finished the work he asked if I would change my Yelp review, so here is an update. UPDATE: . Since I worked with them I believe I could have filled a grocery bag with their four-color direct marketing. Do they have any idea how annoying that is? Since the man came to fix the light(s), another (cheap) driveway light snapped and lay bulb side down into the dry wood mulch in my garden. I also found that the wires for the "safety" lights were strung inside my gutters. During a normal winter, that gutter is completely filled with water. Obviously I need to question whether they are doing their work to code. I hate people-bashing and usually keep my mouth shut unless I have something constructive to say. But, from my experience, this outfit is more slick than substance. If you still want to work with them take heed: Put every last detail in writing. Be there when they do their work. Better yet, if you have a licensed contractor friend who could watch over your project you might have some free entertainment. Have them sign YOUR contract. Everything that has been said is 100% true. They oversell and under deliver. Their working crew does not speak English, so there were several mis-communications. But they work long, hard hours, diligently and tirelessly. Follow through is pathetic...no let me be more specific, follow-through is non existent! Sales Reps are late for appointments or no-shows. I am giving 2 stars because the job looks pretty good, but I would not recommend them to others. read more

They made themselves sound so professional until the contract was signed. They dropped the material off blocking the street and got the City on my neck. I had to restack several pallets of pavers by hand. No supervision was available when the 2 workers unloaded a rental tamper out of the backseat of an old sedan. They could not read the plans, the manufacture's install instructions, nor speak any English. The supervision finally shows up and he speaks no Spanish! I had to supervise the whole job using up 3 days of my time. Seems they just hire others to do the work and pay them a flat fee without providing tools or proper training. Could have picked up the same guys at HomeDepot, rented the gear and saved time, money and grief. But the driveway looked good and so I waited for the test of time. Been several years since they did my drive and it is holding up well - but it has low spots that were not sloped correctly and the concrete margin was left too close to the surface preventing landscape from growing to the edge of the pavers. The last straw was management out to inspect and said a crew would come to finish and correct. I bet him $20 they would not. He never collected. read more

Wow, had I seen System Paver's Yelp reviews prior to contacting them, I would have been a little worried. My experience with them has been far better than 2.5 stars would have suggested. My mom wanted the 20+ year-old, grease-stained, and cracked driveway torn out and replaced. System Pavers sent out Scott Anderson to do the designwork. Between him and my mom, a roman stone-style driveway became the center of discussion. Scott coming back with a beautiful rendering of the proposed driveway design pretty much sealed the deal. 1 week later, work started. Dan Burnham was the project manager. 4 days after that, it was done. It looks and feels great! Totally worth it. Several of the neighbors came by to ask about it the week after and were throughly impressed too. I have no idea what happened for the people who were unhappy with System Pavers, but I'll personally recommend Scott and Dan as they did a perfect job for us. read more
