Our new backyard is BEAUTIFUL. We LOVE it. We have spent more time out there the past three days than we have in the past 3 1/2 years of living here. Thank you so much for helping us design the backyard we always wanted. We are very appreciative. Best part is...our 19 month old son LOVES it. He wants to go out and play on his swing set first thing in the morning and will not let us shut the door because he wants to walk in and out as he pleases and doesn't want to have to stop and ask us to open the door for him. There were a few snags in the process, but all pretty minor and I was able to fix them before they became problems. When I first contacted System Pavers, the lady who answered the phone advised me they do not do projects in my area (Sonoma County). I told her it stated they do on the website and she said she'd notify someone to fix that. The next day, she called back and said she made a mistake. Nothing big, but slightly annoying that she didn't know the area System Pavers covered. She assigned a designer to come out to my house in a few days. Our design consultant who met with us was Darrell. He was very friendly and we were comfortable with him from the beginning. He spent a couple of hours with us and came in and basically designed our backyard for us and told us what would look great and what wouldn't look good. After two other consults with private contractors, while cheaper, I do not design, and he told me what I had asked for would not look good and he drew us his recommendations. Something no one else had done with me. I am so glad I took his recommendations and did not do what I had originally planned. It would have been a concrete jungle. I understand part of his job is a sales job and there was some mild upsales done and statements about needing to get it done asap to get the sale price, but it was minimal and didn't bother me or my husband. I also understand that we likely paid top dollar for the job and we likely could have bargained the price down some, but at the same time, they are professionals and I felt that with the warranty they offer, my husband and I were confident the job would be done well and we did not haggle over prices. From the time we met with Darrell to the time the project started, it was almost two months. This is not the fault of System Pavers, but because of us. They were awesome and flexible with us and were patient while we waited for our home refinance to close before they could start the job. They were never pushy and were more than happy to answer/return any e-mails or calls I made to them to finalize the plans we had originally created with Darrell. Once we set the date for the project to get started, the project manager, Ron, met with us to review the plans Darrell had originally created. Ron was very nice and verified all the plans with us. There were a few minor changes that had been made in the previous few weeks that were not communicated from the designer to the project manager, but we were able to clarify them when Ron was visiting us. The day the paver stones were delivered, however, I noticed that the stone was the original color we had chosen, and not the updated color stone. I contacted Ron, and apologized for any miscommunication from our previous meeting, in case I had misunderstood the color stone he was having delivered, and told him it was not the right color. He advised he'd get it fixed immediately and the right stone would be delivered the next day or day after. Sure enough, the right stone was delivered without any problems. Ron checked in with his crew daily both in person and on the phone. Ron returned all phone calls and was very easy to communicate with. Any questions that came about when they were doing the job, were answered and I had complete confidence in their ability to do the job well. While the crew that came to do the actual work spoke minimal English, I was able to communicate with them and I can not say enough about how hard they worked. They worked non stop and did a phenomenal job. We watched them often throughout the day (my son loved watching them) and they were very precise on every tile they laid and making the ground perfect before laying the stone and turf. The job was planned to take four, possibly five days, but they finished in 3 1/2 days and even came on Saturday morning to finish it up. The end product was wonderful. We can not be happier with the completed project. All in all, System Pavers was very easy to work with. Everyone was very friendly, professional and great at communicating with me. I had complete confidence that the job would look beautiful upon completion. I am giving them four stars because of the communication errors that I was able to catch before it became a problem and also because of the price....they are very pricey, but their end product is beautiful. read more

We hired system pavers to remodel our backyard. Our original layout did not make good use of our space and we needed to find a contractor that could come in design, provide recommendations, and manage the project from start to finish. Before reaching out to system pavers we met with other contractors and they lack the professional guidance of project design, management, and warranty. We have dealt with independent contractors before where project timeline would delay or they would never return after the project is complete for minor fixes or warranty coverage. For the project our size, we needed to find a company that can set expectations and can be held accountable when the execution of the project is not met. We have been following @systempavers on Instagram for a while before we reached out. They were having their special 0% interest free financing for 25 months and we thought it wouldn't hurt to just speak with a rep. That was when we met David Escoto, a system Pavers design consultant. David came out and did a walkthrough of our backyard. He was great because we never felt like were being sold or rushed. He genuinely took the time to listen to everything we "wanted" and to understand the vision of our ideal backyard. He also informed us of the company values and explained the company's differentiation to others out there. At that point were still not sold. A couple days later he came back with a design and invited us back to the showroom. The design was perfect and was everything we envision. It was actually spot on. However, we were still on the fence with moving forward with the project because of the pricing. We also went onto yelp and read a bunch of mix reviews, which got us more nervous. We called David Escoto back and informed him that we weren't sure system pavers was the right company for us. Never did he strong arm us, bad mouth other contractors, or apply any cheesy sales pressure for us to sign the contract. He just repeated the value we were going to get from system pavers and explained why the cost was high. He also sent us personal reviews from his past projects to help reassure us that we were going with a reputable company. After a couple days of going back and forth, We decided to go with system pavers. System paver's prices are not the cheapest, but nor is it the most expensive. When we compared prices with independent contractors System pavers was significantly higher, but the higher price you are paying is for a professional design consultation and 100% project manager and that was what we needed. Once we signed the contract, our project was handed off to the project manager team who was assigned to execute the project. For a moment, it felt like we had to rebuild the relationship and trust with the project manager...but David Escoto was there for the transition and we never felt the loss of synergy between the team. David was always there to make sure his design was carried through every step of the way. We hit some road blocks during the project that require out of scope work and money, however David was there to think outside of the box and provide alternatives to make sure there were options that we could choose from that didn't require a whole lot of $$. We also ran into problems with the sub-contractors working on the job. We never had to work with them directly. All we had to do was call the project manager and he would work with the contractors directly to get the job done. David would also always show up during these situation to make sure the job was done correctly. Once the project was completed. The Project manager and David did a walk through with us to make sure everything was to our satisfaction. We had a list of things we wanted them to follow-up on and they were quick to get the crew back out to fix. David also came out and got his hands dirty to fix our pergola column. We were really happy with the management service we received from system pavers. Honestly, I don't think I would be raving this much if it wasn't for David. If you are looking to start a project with system pavers, I recommend calling David Escoto. He will take care of you and your project from start to finish. For the cost of the project, having the peace of mind that your project is covered by a large company that won't be going out of business is worth it. For the next 20 years we have warranty on the pavers and have no doubt that they will return to fix the job. read more

It happened very quickly. I have a much loved garden that has been a joy for many years but became a neglected sad space ever since the COVID lockdown and there was no one to do the regular maintenance. The funny thing is how things accumulate and the neglect kind of feeds itself to become even deeper neglect. At some point, one simply throws up their hands, shrugs and gives up. Our neighbour was doing a remodel and I suppose Systems pavers were around to introduce themselves to the neighbors. That's when I first met one of their representative who made an appointment with their design person, Robin. My first meeting with Robin was detailed and we finished a (non judgemental.. to my relief) walk through the garden. We identified four different areas that could use some paver work. My much loved and well used garden already had many sentimental nooks and crannies. In the past, I haven't been able to do any work with other landscapers because every designer wanted to 'raze it down' for a 'clean slate'. I told Robin that I did not want to take away what made the garden special to me.. its familiar coziness and the nostalgia. Finally, we picked two areas to pave. The first area had to be a rectangular area leaving the existing fruit trees and rose bushes intact. And the second was a neglected spot that was visited by critters but had potential. Robin had fancy tools that quickly zigged and zagged on the screen for exact measurements. We finally chose to do only two areas because we haven't worked with Systems Pavers before and wanted to see their process. Suffice to say, we will work with them again for the front area also. Part 1 is done. For Part 2, Robin brought in their project manager and introduced Adrian. Adrian was very efficient and quickly managed/set expectations about timeline and what to expect in the next few days. They started on a Monday and finished on Thursday. Our expectations was that it would take a 5 days- a week! The crew came bright and early in the morning..and got to work right away. Adrian came to check on the work everyday and sent video messages about the progress when we weren't around to meet with him. During the border installation, more workers joined the crew. The borders seem to be the most challenging skill. We had also added two benches in the beginning by the door, but then I wanted it under the fruit trees instead. They were able to accommodate the change in its placement. It looks nice now. One thing lost in communication was the color of the pavers and the arrangement of it. It turned out fine.. so it's ok. I also liked that the installation crew cleaned up every day after the day's job was done. They didn't leave it messy until the completion day. So basically, there are three managers involved. Robin who did the design and initial development. Adrian who was the project manager. And Ben who was the head of the install team. The install crew was 2-4 people working on different things. The delivery of the pavers, informing the neighbours of the disturbance and even the porta potty for the crew was all taken care by them. The value is in the management. There are many companies and landscapers who install pavers. It's a straight forward job, but the co-ordination of all the different moving parts and tasks seamlessly with daily updates makes the experience painless with System Pavers. You definitely get what you pay for. I have had concrete and flagstone work done before. Pavers are going to be pricier than concrete, sure.. but this comes with a 25 year warranty (except around trees if paver stones are displaced or lifted due to aggressive roots). And the warranty is transferable even if the property is sold. It's definitely an investment. Every year, maintenance becomes an issue and it is becoming more and more difficult to find people who can do the hard work needed for a beautiful garden space that can be enjoyed. For me, heating me out and including the established fruit trees and roses in the design and building around it sealed the deal. While pavers can be for driveways or pathways or sitting areas.. for a small backyard space like mine, it has to perform many functions without sacrificing the greenery and still retain the look of a garden. I believe the diverse opinions offered for this company'sservices are very regional. I live in Solano County (Benicia), and had a very positive experience. Researching the yelp comments definitely helps in knowing what to expect, and after going to a couple home shows and looking online we decided to use them, mainly because of the quality of materials,the numerous photos available of completed jobs, and it was a big enough company that had their reputation to uphold(Yelp) . Our sales rep Chet Lanham was courteous and we didn't feel pressured to add things to the job. It is a good idea to know what design and whatever small details you want at the beginning. You can add things later, but the best price will be offered by Chet in these initial 2 meetings before construction starts. He will also put addendums to the original contract , such as "charge net cost for lights" and gave us a cheaper quote for steps we added later. Tell him what you are considering adding, and he will write a quote in the margin, a better price than what the construction supervisor will offer- the supervisor will honor any such quotes. The supervisor Del Rio was professional and kept his promises of being at the work site (briefly) everyday, and completing the job on time. He took care of any issues we had and kept his appointments. His demolition (demo) crew worked steadily for 10 hours a day as needed. Make sure you talk with the demo crew about the sprinkler lines under the pavers. Tell them you expect the irrigation to work just as before and if they cut any lines or divert things to let you know- accidents will happen, but its better be approachable for any such issues. I checked with them twice a day to visually inspect and confirm things were as planned. It is also a good idea to go outside with the supervisor with a tape measure and the contract diagram and specify and measure out what is expected, before the demo is begun. Once all the materials are delivered, make sure they are the color and design you want. This may will be the first time you see the wall and capstones. We changed our mind on materials for the sitting wall and it wasn't a problem, since it was changed before installation. The supervisor will recommend the Sealant after the job is complete, which holds the sand in place and gives a slight wet sheen to the pavers. The sand job they do after a typical installation quickly becomes uneven and disappears in places after rain and strong winds (which we experienced), so we "splurged" and added it. What a difference. The sand looks perfect in all places and the bricks don't look chalky, faded out , and the tiny scratches were gone. Time will tell if the sand holds in place, but it feels solid enough and they give a 5 year guarantee to fix problem areas. I would recommend it, since you are already spending a good amount of money and the sealant really "finishes" the job, making it brochure ready. Advice: Take the screens off the windows and any doors close to the demo site, because they will get filthy. Also, cover your front door with sheeting to save it from dust and grit- you will have to do this yourself. I asked for the left over materials and they left me a half pallet of pavers and some wall stones- not sure if they would have reimbursed me for them or just used them n the next job(?). Look at your drain pipes from your gutters and see if they empty onto the bricks- they will divert the flow under the pavers via tubing if you ask. The supervisor will place electrical lines under the pavers (no charge), in hopes you will buy lights at the end, but specify to what areas you want the wires run to- good to have for future projects. If you do buy lights, wait until you have a chance to place some lanterns and flashlights at night to see what it might look like. In conclusion, I gave a high rating because it met my expectations, but I had realistic expectations. Doing your research prior and communication with the work crew is key. I was able to "fix" things as the work progressed, but they weren't big things- mainly personal preferences. I will use them in the furure. read more

This is a Follow-Up to my previous review (May 30, 2017) : Recently I had some "Warranty" Repairs completed for pavers that had separated in various areas of my completed patio. This became apparent 4-mos. after completion last year - Due to me traveling & being involved with numerous other home projects, I didn't have time for the repairs until now (Feb.2018). I try to keep an open mind on big projects as mine that problems can & do occur due to numerous reasons, but regardless, Sys. Pavers does stand behind their work ... Sys.Pavers reviewed my issues right-away, and scheduled the repairs when it was convenient for me. Besides my "Warranty" repairs, another issue came along which had nothing to do with Sys.Pavers quality of work or product. I had a covered-patio installed which required installing 3-support posts - which meant removing numerous pavers so they could dig 3-holes for the posts. I was hoping Sys.Pavers could do these repairs for a reasonable cost & combine it as one-work project with the "Warranty" work they were already scheduled to do. My 1st price quote was very disappointing as it was very expensive & way out of my price range, However, I contacted my designer (Kim), and with the help of her Mgr. (Jonathon), they were able to negotiate a much more affordable price, and also get both the Warranty & "Non"-Warranty repairs done at the same time ... Thank you Kim & Jonathon - I'm Forever Grateful!!!! (As always, Kim has never hesitated to assist me with any issues or concerns - she makes every effort to go the extra mile making sure a customer is a satisfied customer, and that still has not changed even with my recent issues!) Moving forward, there's much recognition for the actual repair work and completion. A big Thank You to Richard (My Proj.Mgr.), for working with Me, Kim, & Jonathon to help make my "non"-warranty repairs much more affordable and fair for all involved, as well as keeping the repairs as one-project. I'm so glad I didn't have to work with an outside company as the possible risk of quality & the design pattern could have been jeopardized. I'm very happy & pleased how my Paver repairs turned out. Francisco & his crew were wonderful and they deserve a lot of recognition. I was worried the repair work would show some flaws but you can't even tell where any of the repairs were done ... they did an amazing job! Besides the excellent repair work, the clean-up was just as important. The area looked cleaner than before they came! They even removed some debris that I've been wanting to have hauled away & I really appreciated his kind gesture which was a big help to me ... gave my yard a much more finished & clean look ... I'm so thankful to Francisco & his crew doing such diligent work, and also their kind gesture doing some added clean-up to my yard - You've got an awesome crew! And Oh, I might add, I recently had my house re-painted & they were extra careful not to cause any marks or have any dirt splattered anywhere on the walls - That shows a lot of respect for the customer and I am So Appreciative for that as well! This is my first-ever yelp review. System Pavers carried out an enormous job for us, and they proved to be one of the best companies I have ever dealt with. That is no exaggeration--and I have very high standards. Our flagstone patio and pool-surround, measuring roughly 1500 square feet, were cracked beyond repair because the earth had been settling over the years. The entire thing needed to be destroyed, the debris hauled out, and a new patio and pool-surround installed to replace them. I had long dismissed pavers as an option because I thought they'd be way too expensive, but I asked System Paves to give me a bid anyway. Scott came out and did that. He was very friendly, informative, and zero pressure, and his bid was very reasonable for the size of the job. I was surprised and decided to move ahead. As the job was about to start, I was turned over to Darin, who'd be overseeing the work crew. He, too, was very friendly and informative, and he was genuinely concerned with every detail of the job, making sure that everything went exactly right, and being totally responsive to every issue I raised along the way. Inevitably, issues did arise. The existing concrete turned out to be much thicker than they had estimated, with rebar (which they didn't know about), and more difficult and time-consuming to remove-- but Darin's crew just did what they needed to do, took the extra time, and got the job done. There was no attempt to raise the price to me. When the pavers were put down, some areas were not sloped properly, but Darin was all over it and made sure the pavers were re-laid until the sloping was right. When they did the demo, they found that the posts holding up our patio roof were rotted at the bottom, and Darin had the crew dig out the concrete underneath, attach metal to the posts, and re-do the whole thing so that our support structure was far better than ever. This was an unexpected cost for them, but, again, it was just included as part of the job. There were a number of other issues too. In every case, Darin insisted on doing things right, and he responded quickly and positively to every concern I raised. When I texted him, moreover, he would always get back to me immediately. He never put me off. He never made me feel like I was being a perfectionist or that my expectations were too high. I was shocked, really. I have never dealt with a company that was so responsive. Darin kept emphasizing throughout that I have a 25 year warranty, and that, if anything goes wrong down the road, just contact him and it will be made right. I believe that. The final product--a huge new patio and pool-surround--is beautiful and well constructed. I couldn't be happier with it. And the cost was reasonable. As I said, I have never written a yelp review before, but in this case I really wanted to. Darin and System Pavers consistently went above and beyond to do a great job, and they deserve the highest praise. read more

Brandon Derouen Alex Leone John Today our backyard renovation was completed, and it is gorgeous! While this is not a complete review of System Pavers--which will come later--I felt it necessary to write a rough draft of our interactions with all of those that have steadfastly worked with us to achieve our perfect backyard. Earlier this month we were invited to an open house at System Pavers Showroom in Union City, CA. The short story is that we weren't exactly certain that this was going to be a worthwhile trip, but we categorized it as a secret mission into the world of pavers. You see, we recently purchased a 65-year old home that needed a plethora of outdoor renovations. At the showroom we met with several professionally charming associates, and ultimately landed with a skilled designer, and listener, Alex Leone; more about him later. He inquired about our needs, asked to send him photos, set a date to meet us at our home in order to show us his design. It was perfect. Alex set us up with a delightful professional project manager, Brandon Derouen. Alex, Brandon, and his Crew Leader John, met with us at our home. Brandon immediately sized up the project and offered a constellation of ideas in how to achieve the designs that were given to him. He noted a few problem areas and we discussed the options. Brandon seemed excited to be working on this project and he conveyed this by his enthusiasm, great smiles, and deep knowledge of his profession. Brandon gave us a start date right then and there. It was the next day! He thoroughly explained the process and noted that John and his crew were the best in the business. As it turns out, he was right on target with that proclamation! While the project was not without a hiccup, Brandon quickly alerted me to it and explained how and when it would be resolved. He sincerely apologized for the problem--which was out of anyone's control--and warmly asked for our patience. The crew worked on other matters. They were here every day on time and worked diligently through-out. Many times I peered out the window to watch what they were doing, and what I noted was that they all were dedicated to their work and worked long and hard at the job at hand. My thinking is that a good project manager picks a good team; but a great project manager picks a team that is as dedicated to the project as he is, as the designer is, and as any customer would delight in. While the job is at an end, Brandon promised to contact an irrigation specialist to help us with an installation. I know he will do this because all that he has promised has materialized. My spouse and I are extraordinarily pleased with all those that we have met through-out this process, and are very appreciative of their input, hard work, artistic design, and thoughtfulness. My husband and I decided it was time to update the exterior landscaping of our home and add some new touches to our backyard. This was a project we had been wanting to tackle for the past two years, and we were finally in a position to make it happen. As a real estate agent, I understood the importance of choosing the right vendor for this type of work. The detailed proposal and timeline gave us a high level of confidence that our project was in capable hands. During the lead-up to the project, there was one minor issue that had not been addressed earlier, but Scott took immediate action to resolve it. He personally returned to discuss the matter and worked diligently to make sure everything was right. I truly appreciate this level of accountability, as it's rare to find vendors who take ownership and handle challenges with such professionalism. Once the project began, we worked closely with Ricardo Garcia, the project manager. Ricardo was an absolute pleasure to work with--always responsive, approachable, and proactive. He took extra care to coordinate the timeline and communicate with another contractor who was handling the fencing installation. Throughout the process, Ricardo made sure to check in frequently to ensure everything was on track and that we were satisfied with the progress. During our final walkthrough, he was meticulous in inspecting the paver and drainage work, ensuring everything was up to standard. Overall, I would highly recommend System Pavers to anyone looking for a reliable, professional company for outdoor renovation projects. They not only deliver an exceptional experience, but they also keep their promises and are dedicated to turning their customers' visions into reality.
