This restaurant deserves a solid 4 stars the value alone! My husband and I each had a steak dinner, salad, veggies, potatoes, mussel apps, and a few drinks - and only paid $60! Such an unbelievably affordable price for so much! The food wasn't that of a 5 star restaurant necessarily, but for a b&b restaurant we were VERY pleasantly surprised. And you can't beat the price! I have never had a good steak dinner and drinks for as little as 60 bucks before! We did find the servers to be a little socially awkward, but for the great value (not to mention gorgeous view) we definitely plan on returning if we find ourselves in the area again! (P.s. Had a very nice day at Lake Michigan, decided to try the Blue Heron, hadn't been here since about 15 years ago , and that was for brunch. Guess they have gone thru an owner or two since then. The signage for the place is rather vague, and there is no clear place to park. Once you follow the signs that tell you where not to go, and to go, you get to the maze. We walked into what looked like a living room, with a TV and a piano that said in huge letters DON'T PLAY PIANO, asked a lady where to go, walked through a few rooms that looked like dining rooms, to the bar. After passing thru a swinging door contraption, we sat at the bar. Finally, let's see the menu! I had mussels with the garlic/wine sauce that was absolutely perfect,! I can't give it a higher mark than a three star though because the other dish, that we split, was a ' New England Fish and Chips.' .Now , I don't know about the rest of youse guys, but from where I come from, fish and chips is cod ,period. And potato, sure, but the point is cod. Fish usually found near England, and, hey, New England! Here, we got tipathia! Not that is was bad, it was tasty, but it was not cod, thus not fish and chips fish, and, it was until recently, regarded as a "trash" fish, along with swai. Some where around Vietnam, offshore, I think. Now the bartender, Sunny I think her name was, served us excellent Moscow Mules ( though I guess you have to ask for Stoli if you want it), and was a fine waitress for our food. The rest of the menu looked pretty good, lotsa steaks and whatall, guess they rent pontoon boats out. Might check this place out next weekend, order a real dinner, spend the night and give it another go . Might get a four star next week! read more

Beautiful restaurant on the water and great food too. I had the stuffed mushrooms and a nightly special braised pork shank so delicious. My husband had mile high meatloaf it was more like two miles. Everything was fresh and delicious and the prices great. Saw dessert it was one serving but could've been for the whole table. I can't wait to return and order everything on the menu. read more

Food and service was fantastic. Was a little disappointed that for the price of the dinners that it doesn't include a salad, but they do offer them at a discounted price with an entree. Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides were deliciously prepared. The view of the lake from the dining room was beautiful and all the staff was very friendly and attentive. We were just passing through from out of town but would definitely stop in again if ever in the area. read more

Wood fired grill was nice in theory, but my steak came out tasting like it sat right on the wood. Our server was at first too on top of us, then after we got our food no one even asked how it was. The atmosphere was nice, probably beautiful in summer during a sunset. But I was not impressed enough to go back again. read more

EXCELLENT EVERYTHING!! Appetizers were yummy, crispy, creamy crab cakes with a wonderful plum sauce--DELISH! NY strips cooked perfectly. I had mine with the whiskey peppercorn sauce which was fabulous! Broccoli was perfectly steamed. Fish and chips had tasty crispy batter, moist and flaky inside, served with delectable sweet crunchy slaw. Great bread basket with sesame, wheat and a rye roll freshly baked along with some seasoned chips. The desserts were big, sweet, gooey, rich hunks of goodness--warm, sweet yummy bread pudding, luscious walnuty, raisiny, carrot cake with thick cream cheese frosting and a delectable Italian layer cake. YUM!! I don't think you could go wrong with anything here. Will definitely be back to try more!! read more

I was in town for a softball tournament for a girls 18u team that I head coach. I was alone and wanted to find somewhere quiet where I could get a good steak and relax. I have to say, the atmosphere was superb for one. I sat at the bar and Jennifer was absolute amazing (even with my stupid dad jokes that I spewed to her and the wait staff ) However, I ordered the 12oz riveted on special, and added a 12oz lobster tail for some surf and turf. The food literally bordered on heavenly. It was absolutely hands down THEE BEST steak I have ever had!! It was cooked to perfection!! The lobster tail was a home run to accompany it. I'm from Kalamazoo, MI and was happy to see my hometown BELLS Oberon on tap to go with my meal. When I returned home I told my wife that we will be driving the hour and a half down to Laporte just for the sole purpose of her getting to experience this wonderful place!!! 5 stars to the fullest read more

I had a house salad with ranch and the shrimp scampi with broccoli. The ranch is apparently made in house and I really really disliked it. I can't exactly put my finger on why, but the flavor was just off. The shrimp scampi was delicious, but the portion was tiny for the "large" serving. There was literally 8 shrimp! I had a double portion of the broccoli instead of getting a potato, and I was amazed. The broccoli was excellent. I mean, I typically think of broccoli as having a certain flavor level that isn't exceeded, but this was well beyond that. Overall, the entree was very good, but I likely won't come back unless it's a special occasion. The price was pretty high compared to the serving size. read more

Rare find in LaPorte. Awesome salads. Awesome fillet medallions and perch. They have a great chef who is creative and delivers on flavor in every dish. The only place to get a great +++ meal and sit on a deck on Pine Lake. Great for family or date night or for business meal. My vote for best restaurant in LaPorte. Clean inside out. Great service and mgmt. Handicap parking needs reworked on site layout. Destroyed my rim on curb after pulling out of handicap space close to building. Otherwise love this place. read more

On a cross-country road trip we found this lovely place to have a relaxing meal with a lake view. The ribs were meaty with a great BBQ sauce. Delicious scalloped potatoes, etc. For dessert we ordered the delicate Apple Gallette served on warm, house made caramel sauce. Good quality... Good prices. If you are traveling I-80 it is worth going the the three miles of the beaten track to this lovely restaurant in La Porte. read more

Ate here because it was right across the street from our hotel. It was very late and we were worried about the quality of the food or if we would have to eat from the bar menu. Boy, were we surprised! I had mussels and a salad, my hubby had a steak. All were delicious. The best thing was the view. Nothing beats waterfront fine dining. read more

T-Bones has great food and service with one exception--the service from the bar is very very slow. We were there Friday night with 11 people, everyone enjoyed their dinner but we waited 20-30 minutes to have a drink delivered. They really needed to have another bartender. read more

Well, this was our second time here. We came back because the first time everything was excellent . This time- not so much. I was very surprised we were told they close at 8:30 on a Saturday night which is ridiculous. On that note, I think they were annoyed with us coming in so "late". I ordered the strip steak medium-well. When I got it, it was bright pink. I hate sending food back but when your paying so much for a steak, you should get it the way you want it. When it came back, it was so fatty and chewy that my jaw hurt. They ended up taking 2 drinks off our bill. Great atmosphere but if I do go back, it won't be for an over-priced, chewy, undercooked steak. read more

We were looking for a steak place and came across this nice place. The dining room was small, very pretty though, and they also had seating outdoors overlooking the lake with a beautiful view. We were 10 minutes early for our reservation but they were able to seat us right away. Service was excellent - drinks and rolls were served promptly as well as appetizers. The food took a bit longer but it may be because we had a large party. The calamari appetizer was similar to other restaurants but the bruschetta was delicious. I had a Mediterranean shrimp salad with dressing on the side. There was plenty of grilled shrimp, roasted red peppers, and artichoke to go with it and it was yummy and the right amount of food for me. Others in my group got a variety of steak for entree and there wasn't much left. One person got scallops and the dish came out with 8-9 pretty good size scallops. Overall, it was good and we enjoyed our dinner. read more
