Four stars for good ingredients in their half margherita/half prosciutto pie. Subtract one for not enough of said ingredients haphazardly arranged...subtract another for charging $28 for said pie lacking said ingredients, and then charging another $9 for a plain ol' calzone filled only with ricotta cheese...are you kidding me?! I can get a bigger, better calzone filled with gooey cheese and saucy buffalo chicken for $7 right across the street from my apartment! As if that wasn't enough to sour my experience, there's a plot twist too...We were hanging at a bar that has no kitchen, but they're happy to let you bring in some grub from elsewhere. When asking for menus to peruse, the bartender and two patrons hastily recommended Table 87 and all but slammed just about anything eise I asked to look at. Despite personally having favorable experiences elsewhere, we opted for Table 87, and after the pizza was delivered, the delivery person brought two extra slices for the bartender and revealed to our group that the owner was sitting just two seats over from us this whole time. Maybe I'm being overly sensitive and it's just neighborhood small businesses being friendly with one-another, but I can't help but feel a bit slighted...whatever. After some intense games of 4v4 beach volleyball, just about anything would have satisfied our group. To literally still be STARVING after devouring two slices of pizza, however, is an unprecedented memory in my nearly three decades of pizza consumption. Unless they either (a) lower their prices, or (b) actually use an appropriate amount of toppings, I'll take my money elsewhere next time. read more

On 10/5/19, walked over for dinner with some friends after spending the whole day at Governor's Island together. Started off with Caesar salad and Calamari. Ceasar salad was good. My son loves Ceasar salad and he ate it. Calamari was good too but it was dripping with grease. I don't enjoy eating fried foods that are glistening with oil. Pizza - every pie was excellent! Tried Margherita, Sausage & peppers, and Prosciutto & arugula. You can taste the freshness of the mozzarella. Desserts - Must try the house made (on premise)Tiramisu! Could use more espresso though. Don't bother with the key Steve's famous Key Lime Pie. Comes from a famous bakery in Brooklyn but the tartness and lime essence is missing. Makes you wonder if they used 100% key lime. And the ratio of crust to pie isn't balanced (too much crust). It's not a slice of a big pie but rather a whole pie that's about 4 inches in diameter with a thick crust. Also tried the Tartufo. I have ordered 3 times for delivery and each time has been consistently delicious. Each time I ordered the 20" Margarita. Despite the pizza being perfect- with a bright flavorful sauce and a perfect medium to thin crust, the topping section is small. So- due to my love of this sauce my pizza does not have olives:) It is definitely pricey- 1 pizza, delivery and tip nets out to $34. While it is definitely a step up from my every other day but Sunday delivery spot Piz-zetta-/ is it $14 dollars better? The jury is definitely out. If you are from abroad. Avoid like the plague!!! We came from London and was advised by our host to check table 87 out. Little did we know we made the mistake of going to the one based in Brooklyn heights. I have never been treated with so much disdane in any establishment. It was very apparent as soon as we sat down, that we were not welcome there. Maybe it was the British humour or the fact we were not Caucasian, who knows. When we did eventually get the privilege to order it was a sight to behold. The waiter treated us like we were going through airport security. Eyes rolled back, head titled sideways, menus snatched away. All I can say about the pizza, is that if you are from London.... It's nothing special. Might aswell spend your money on pizza express and get the same quality pizza. In the end we got the remains of our food to go and placed it where it belonged. read more

Was over at a bar on Smith Street and needed some food delivered. I'd also been meaning to try Table 87 for quite some time, so two birds with one stone. Of course, Seamless overestimated how long delivery would take, but I'll never complain about receiving pizza ahead of schedule. Ordered three pizzas (not all for me, I swear). Had the: -Fontina with wild mushrooms and truffle oil -Margherita pizza with fresh basil -Breakfast pizza with two farm eggs and house made pancetta First off, the pizza didn't suffer too much from having to travel, so I can thank the bike delivery dude for that. But yes, the thin crust (which is usually an asset) becomes tricky when your pizzas are loaded with toppings. Anyway, all the pizzas were great. Fresh basil makes everything delicious, and truffle oil is like cheating. The star of the meal was the breakfast pizza, though. If you like runny eggs on your pizza, then you owe it to yourself to try this one. But like I said, if you get it delivered, watch out for the structural integrity. Or else you'll leave with yolk all over your clothes like I did. Looking forward to check out Table 87 in person in the future to avoid these problems next time! read more

What an awesome experience! I work in the neighborhood and was looking for a place to have dinner on a Thursday evening. I decided on Table 87 because they have pizza in addition to Italian dishes. We arrived shortly after 4 o'clock and were seated right away. During our meal, we discussed how small the dining area is. I am sure it gets packed around dinner time and on the weekends. The service was speedy and genuine. The man who served us also cooked our food which was pretty awesome. I'm assuming this is because it was slow at the time; however he was so sweet and really made us feel welcomed. The open kitchen allows guests a glimpse behind the scenes. It was really cool to see the food being prepared. I decided to have the homemade lasagna which was absolutely awesome! My boyfriend had a pasta dish with bolognese sauce. Both of our meals were absolutely delicious. Knowing that everything was freshly made was a bonus. For dessert, we both had a slice of the Nutella pie which included marshmallows, strawberries, and obviously Nutella. I thought it was incredibly good but my boyfriend hated all of the marshmallows. So if you are not crazy about them you might want to pass. Overall, we have already decided that we will be back to try the pizza. I most definitely recommend this place to all! read more

Coal fired ovens are a rare commodity in NY as the licenses are restricted due to fears of possible smog creation. As such, those pizza places who do have such ovens have a special responsibility to use their "factory" wisely. Thankfully Table 87 is cranking out really great pizza. What's great about wood or coal burning ovens is that they maintain an insanely high temperature - around 800 degrees. What this does: - imparts a special "fire and smoke charred" taste - provokes the ingredients to certain strong reactions. For example, a crust that isn't getting much heat just sits there. But when dough is put into a hot heat, magic can happen. It bubbles. It chars a bit. It becomes chewy and textured and unique. Likewise, cheese will re-define itself when blistered. At Table 87, which opened just 3 weeks ago, they specialize in big, shareable Margherita and vegetable pies (though additional toppings such as sausage, prosciutto, etc are available). The former is a traditional thin crust pie laden with a nice tomato sauce, islands of cheese and sprinkled with basil. The latter is a square pie with thicker crust and capped by layers of veggies. Or you can order these by the slice in the front room. They've also got 6 other 12" personal pies available, plus salads, paninis, calzones and other seasonal dishes. There's a nice dining area in the back and the staff are extremely friendly and proud. And they should be. Brooklyn is blessed with some of the best pizza places in the world and Table 87 can be added to that list of must-try joints. Just one bit of warning: vampires beware of the roasted garlic sauce. Ok so I am giving this place 5 stars mainly because I had the best calamari I have ever had here. It was fresh, seasoned, and cooked perfectly (it had a perfect bite not chewy or rubbery). I had the plain Margarita pizza which was good also. Not the best but very good. My friend had a pizza with some kind of pork fat on it which was delicious. Yes I know it sounds gross but it was so yummy. It kind of tasted like it had a thin layer of fatty ham on it but the fat melted into the pizza when it was cooked and left a porky delicious flavor behind. I gave this 3 stars because it's a 3 star place. Pizza was eh, prosciutto on top is cut super thin and it makes for some very chewy pizza. Not a big fan of taking a bite and having the whole topping come off. Arugula was dry , other than the thin crust, which I liked, not much to write home about. Place is pretty small also, they try to squeeze in tables, which I get given the rent they must be paying, it's not fun if you have to get up. This place has been my guilty pleasure lately. The freshest mozzarella and tomato sauce someone can ask for on a pizza. The bread and crust is thin but cooked perfectly every time. Also, every time I ask for extra basil, they seriously deliver. They ACTUALLY give me extra basil unlike other places at no cost too. I got it delivered during a NYC snowstorm which gets wild so I expected the pizza to arrive cold but it was still warm and yummers. ZERO STARS! I had the misfortune of having a pizza delivered from this restaurant. It was a soggy crusted, soupy mess of undercooked vegetables and unmelted cheese. How they simultaneously burned the crust, yet delivered it limp and wringing wet takes a unique level of ineptitude. The best Pizza, period (in cobble hill, brooklyn heights) The long running pizza battle between Luzzo's BK and Table 87 really isn't a battle at all. Both pizza joint offer two different experiences. With Table 87, the large Margherita pie is the way to go. The sauce is made perfectly, with the sauce on the fine line of sweet and salty. The cheese melts into a traditional thin NYC crispy dough bottom with the smokiness of the charcoal permeating the entire pizza. My choice: stick to the classic! Really disappointed as their pizza is really good, unfortunately their management is not. I ordered a delivery through Seamless last Sunday. Once received and opened the box had obviously been dropped or tipped way over. The right third of the pie had folded in on itself rendering it, while still edible, not eatable as a normal pizza slice. I contacted them through Facebook Messenger and explained what had happened, I thought politely, and pointedly did not request a refund as we still at it. I asked for either a partial refund or a partial credit towards a future purchase. They responded immediately and asked for a photograph. I sent the picture and then silence. They didn't respond to 2 additional queries during the week. Given that their pizza cost almost twice as much as a regular pie (and it's probably worth it, it's twice as good) I was surprised they showed absolutely no give on this and didn't even have the courtesy to respond. As indicated I've had delivery several times and been in the store on Atlantic Ave. more than a few times. Now I'll be talking them up for the opposite reason. I already vetoed them for a small group dinner tomorrow. Ordered the beef short ribs with polenta and red wine reduction. Asked for it medium rare. The waiter came back a few minutes later to tell me that the short ribs were pre-made so it would come out medium. Wasn't sure what exactly that meant, but a medium short rib was fine with me. What came out was short ribs in tomato sauce with a side of spaghetti in tomato sauce. I asked the waiter for the menu to double check what I had ordered and proceeded to ask why the short ribs had tomato sauce as opposed to the red wine reduction and why I had spaghetti instead of polenta. After apparently checking with the chef he said that 1) they had made a menu change a few days ago swapped polenta for spaghetti 2) the red wine was "in" the short ribs and this was how it was prepared I wondered if he meant it was braised in red wine, but even so it said reduction on the menu and I knew that wasn't a red wine reduction. Moreover, I was never informed of the menu change and he didn't bother to ask if I was okay with spaghetti or gave any options for substitutes. He then made no offer of a discount of any kind and I ended up paying full price for what felt like a not only incorrect, but cheaper dish. read more

A group of my friends and I came here the other night craving dessert. This cute restaurant is located in Brooklyn Heights among the beautiful buildings and scenery of the neighborhood. We ordered three nutella pies among the seven of us, which were delicious, but in my opinion, way too much. I would say that a pie is good for 2-3 people. We only had two slices left, but were over stuffed by the end of the night (a result of over ordering, not the restaurants fault). My friend and I also ordered a tartufo to share. We were alarmed to see the pistachio in the center, mistaking it for a peanut. As soon as the staff heard of the possibility of an allergic reaction, they all rushed over to ensure everything was okay, which was extremely comforting. Another friend ordered a tiramisu which was delicious as well. Would come again to try the regular menu options! The only downside is that it is a little pricy. A regular customer of the Atlantic Avenue location, I have eaten in, picked up, and hosted several large family gatherings outdoors during Covid restrictions. I am a fan of the lasagna and calzone. Last Friday, I ordered two calzones for delivery; one 4 cheese with prosciutto and one sausage and broccoli rabe. They arrived quickly, about 15 minutes, but the sausage was with broccoli and not broccoli rabe, and both were burned on the outside with the cheese and fillings not melted and hot. I called to complain, the bill with tip was over $50.00, but was given an apology. This was a popular choice for us, but the unaddressed quality and service issues, will prevent us from frequenting this establishment. It's a shame. read more
