Was drawn in here because I could smell the pizza a few blocks down. Stopped for a slice and a beer (nice touch). There's outdoor seating and indoor as well and gelato. Pizza is good. Can't complain at all. Need to come back for a few more slices. Has a very family run feel. Some folks are super friendly and others aren't so hit or miss on the service but I don't think that's the value prop. Will be back to try the rest of the menu for sure read more

Was craving an aperol spritz after dining at F&F where they don't have a bar selection and noticed this spot as I walked by. I asked the bartender at the back who said I had to order up front. It was a bit crowded in that small space but that's where I noticed their pizza selection and while I had pizza before.... the Vodka slice called me. It was a perfect size too. Guess I did a mini pizza crawl. Lol. I had the spritz, slice, Phony negroni (over of my favorite mocktails)and cookie and cream ice cream/gelato because why not. I liked that the server garnised, after they take it the soccer from the oven, with green onions and parmesan cheese. But I wish there was a bit more sauce as it dried out and the sauce is the show for me. Spritz was refreshing though probably not from scratch. Phony negroni was refreshing as well though I wished it was opened when server gave it to me at the cashier as it's a crowned bottle, but the bartender helped me out. I had the ice cream to go. I came by on a Friday night for some good ol' pizza. The place has an old school diner vibe with lots of outdoor tables, which was perfect because I had my pup with me. This is such a great spot to enjoy some food on a summer day. Since it was my first time, I decided to try one of every slice: Pepperoni ($6), Sausage & Pepper ($6), White with Rabe ($6), Vodka ($6), and Margherita ($5). My favorite one was surprisingly the vodka slice, which I devoured. Also loved how they topped it with some green onions, which gave it a refreshing crunch. The margherita and sausage slices were a close second while I thought the pepperoni was simple and the rabe did not give me enough flavor to compensate the lack of meat (but good if you're vegetarian). I really like how the pizza is on a focaccia style dough, so it's fluffy and pillow-y with some crisp textures. It's definitely something different from your typical pizza. The downfall is that it's quite pricey for a slice though, so a bit of a treat. read more

I went here on Friday because my friend recommended the spot to me. I should've just ordered slices when I arrived, but I wasn't sure of the process so I placed an order through the restaurants website on my walk over. My order pickup time was 5:11, the kid told me it would be a few minutes, and about 20 minutes passed while everyone was getting their orders before me. I went back in line and asked if i could just order new slices right now instead of waiting for my order because it was taking forever (i got two slices of pizza that were already made so clearly they forgot) and then waited ANOTHER 15 minutes until i decided to walk out with no pizza. One of the better reheated slices I've had. The pizza was absolutely delicious and light. The bread was fluffy and airy and the toppings were just enough. I normally don't go for toppings on my pizza, but this place makes me love them. They ask if you want any additional olive oil, scallions or cheese before serving you the slices. 5 STARS for the tomato sauce!!! If you are in the area I would check it out for their pepperoni slice or anything with that tomato sauce, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. I tried the broccoli rabe and the pepperoni. I usually love broccoli rabe but this slice has a lemon zest ricotta which had a strong lemony taste. Not sure that I loved that. Would have preferred a spicy ricotta or maybe the broccoli rabe with sausage instead? The pepperoni slice is solid. Again, tomato sauce was so good but don't know if the slice stood out. I would try the sausage one since other reviews are raving about it. This spot is a lot bigger than I thought it would be and they have plenty of outdoor seating as well. Very casual. As per others, I think this place suffers from being associated with Lucali's. It's a solid slice but a bit pricey for the quality. For around $6 for the slice, you can get two slices from one of the other places in the area let alone the $6.50 slices or almost $7 for the vodka slice but the slices are unique so I guess some of the price goes to that. The Margherita was alright with a particularly tasty tomato sauce with my preference easily being the Ricotta with Broccoli Rabe. The latter is more worth it for the price with the high quality ingredients and I think it was just a tastier slice even if it lacked the excellent tomato sauce. Crust has a good crunch in both. If it was a buck or two cheaper, I'd probably give them a 4 but I'll bump it down 1 for the prices. read more

Wow, this was really really disappointing. I will say the service was great, and the store was decorated nicely and clean. So those were all positives. This review is mainly about the pizza. We tried every single flavor. Rankings: 1. Ricotta and Broccoli Rabe (most unique) 2. Sausage and Pepper (had flavor unlike the others) 3. Pepperoni 4. Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from but I LOVED the pizza here! And I consider myself a pizza connoisseur! Way shorter wait time, more of a take-out vibe, but same quality as Lucali's. I have to admit the margherita was way better than the sausage and pepper we also tried, but the slices had amazing proportions. The dough was thick but still had a big crunch, the sauce was delicious (could have used a bit more sauce but I'm just a sauce gal), and the cheese was *chefs kiss* (also could have used a bit more cheese but obvs I have a cholesterol problem). The basil was also big and fresh!! I loved. I wish I had another slice right now. There is some seating inside and you can see the pizza being made behind the counter. Employees were speedy, nice, and attentive. There was additional outdoor seating and it was nice to see all the doggos walk by. Will be returning for sure! read more

This is great pizza. It's a casual slice shop, offering slices or pies with a constant aroma of the most delicious pizza that you can smell from the sidewalk. The inside is decorated nicely with a retro touch. You can sit inside, and they also have a lot of outdoor seating for when the weather is nice. It's a great spot to sit and people watch or look at all the dogs that walk by. I will say the pizza is on the expensive side. However, they have unique toppings like ricotta & broccoli rabe, vodka sauce, sausage & peppers, etc. The slices are $5-$8ish and the pies are in the $35-50 range, depending on the toppings. The service is good; the employees are mostly young people who like to chat with customers while you wait for the pizza to cook in the wood-fired oven. They aren't in a rush, so if you're in a hurry, this may not be the best place for you! Baby Luc's is close to the F/G subway lines and is surrounded by great shops, bars, and other restaurants. Came here on Wednesday night at 9:55pm. First off the service is great, the guy threw in an extra slice. The pizza is not good, aside from the crust, which I loved. Cheese is sub par and the sauce was strangely spicy. I wouldn't return here if I was desperate as it was not cheap and one of the slices was way over cooked bordering burned. I counted that as my free slice even though 100% that was going to be the slice they gave me originally. Had high hopes for this place but it was pretty meh. 5 stars for the customer service, 3.5 for the pizza. My friends and I came by right before closing to get a small second dinner, and ended up just sharing a slice of Ricotta & Broccoli Rabe. It felt quite small but that might just be because it's thinner than your normal square slice. Flavor of the broccoli rabe was strong, a little bit bitter, and the ricotta was nice and creamy. I did wish there was some more flavor on the pizza in general though, maybe with sauce/seasoning or more cheese. A little bit disappointing for a place linked to Lucali's, but not a terrible slice all in all. It's decent pizza, kind of unique. But it's got nothing to do with the pizza at Lucali. It doesn't taste or look like it, and it's not nearly as good. Always a risk with any pizza by the slice, but I expected more. The crust also had a lot of cheese on it which ended up kind of fried...that's not bad, but it's not really typical of NY style pizza. And Lucali is famous for a pretty broad crust, so it was unexpected to have the cheese running right to the edge. Overall, it's not bad. If you're in BK and you're not willing to make the line at Lucali, this is a nice consolation prize. We went last night on a Friday night around 7pm and there was only a short line. We were served delicious hot grandma slices within about ~5min. We got margarita, sausage and peppers, and pepperoni. All were delicious, though the Pepperoni was by far my favorite. Tons of outdoor seating that's arranged in a really nice way, I'm on the edge between 4 and 5 stars here. I'm guessing if this place were standing on its own and not being judged by its parent restaurant, it'd be 4 or 4.5 stars on Yelp - but alas a lot of people flocked here and unfairly graded it next to one of the best pizza places in the US. After the hype has died down and the reviews have come in, we finally got to try baby luc's on a saturday afternoon without a line. Despite the 3 star average, we were still willing to give it a shot knowing not to expect the same as Lucali's. They have a great corner spot with a lot of outdoor seating. We got a slice of pepperoni and plain to share. They also have these cute house bottled cocktails and a couple beers on tap. The pizzas are already made, and they'll heat it up on the spot, just like a regular slice shop. What I reallly don't understand is WHY don't they slice the pizza into even slices?? Many of the complaints are about the size of the "squares," which is my complaint as well! When they called our name, the guy had 3 slices in his hand: 1 pepperoni and 2 plains. He purposely gave us the plain that was wayy smaller than the other. like why .. just use something to help you cut the pizza into even slices?? He also ended up throwing one out because it was too small to serve. How wasteful!! Besides the size.. we did like the actual crust and I appreciated the 1 fresh piece of basil on top. I went over the summer right after it first opened so maybe it's gone downhill since then and in an all fairness I think it bears little to no resemblance to the pizza at Lucali's so maybe that's what's resulting in the disappointment, but I did think it was a good slice in its own right. Bummer. As good as Lucali is, I have high expectations for this brand new slice shop, even though they were closed for over a month because of poor reviews and to re-evaluate the product they were putting out. While the pizza itself is a disappointment in that it is not as good as Lucali is, it is not terrible. I did not like that they are selling out now, especially since I feel that the slice is FAR inferior to the whole pies a few blocks down. Here is why. Baby Luc's only sells square slices. No triangles. The only squares offered in slice form are plain (it is a Margherita here), and pepperoni. There are other other varieties here, the sausage and peppers and broccoli rabe, but they only come in the form of pies. Both slices are big in appearance, and the sauce that they both come on come through nicely. I can taste the signature Lucali sauce in every bite. The problems I have is the lack of flavor in the pepperoni, which is minimal in both appearance in taste, and the overindulgence of Parmesan cheese. Unlike Lucali, this cheese makes everything taste more bitter, overtaking the rest of the cheese and the star of the show, the sauce. It also could explain why the slice ends up tasting more bland as it cools. In addition, I am not a fan of all this selling of merchandise throughout the restaurant. To me, that is selling out. One of the best things about Lucali is that it feels like a neighborhood joint for its charm and Brooklyn vibe, with a bit of class added. This feels touristy and forced; if all you are doing is eating pizza, you are doing it wrong. They may be open... for now. However, they still have work to do if they want to be as good as the parent shop. read more

Overall 3.5 Waiting for the grand opening hoopla to die down, I was able to try Baby Luc's for the first time today. They recently opened on weekends for lunch and I passed by at the right time with only 5 minutes wait. There were 4 varieties of pizza including the popular pepperoni but I chose Margarita. All slices are square, they sell beer on draft (and I think wine) and is a cashless business. After paying the $8.71 and waiting a couple minutes, I took it to go while others dined outdoors. There are just a few indoor tables. I live close by and the slices were still warm by the time I got home. Verdict? Very good but a couple missteps. The dough/crust was light, airy and delicious. It really had a unique flavoring. The cheese didn't seem to be fresh mozzarella & combined with the sauce was very flavorful---too flavorful since the sauce was quite salty. My slices were cut from an entire pie that just came out of the oven. As a finishing touch, the person making the pizza sprinkled basil leaves and grated cheese---wihout any gloves. I never appreciate food I'm going to eat being prepared without gloves, especially during a pandemic In summary, I'm happy o have finally tried Baby Luc's since I am always on the quest to try new pizza spots, but I do hope they adjust the salt in the sauce and start using gloves. read more

Came here to grab a couple slices of pizza. The place is pretty much like any other New York pizza shop where you can order whole pies or slices. It's all Sicilian style square pies and at the time it looked like they had 4 or 5 slice choices. I ordered slices of the Margherita and the sausage and peppers. The pizza dough was light and airy with a crisp crust. Both were good but if I had to choose one I'd pick the sausage and peppers. The pizza was shockingly bad and seems like a naked cash grab from the proprietors of the famous Lucali --who I know and don't feel great bad mouthing-- everything from the prices, size of each slice, toppings to bread ratio seem to say "because we can." We got lucky stopping by on a Thursday evening at a time where there was no line at all. To me this was going to be the biggest appeal of Baby Luc's--getting to bypass the impossible to get tables at Lucali for this more accessible slice joint, but with the same quality pizza. I realize this slice joint serves something different than the thin crust pizzas at Lucali, but one would hope for some exciting pizza. What we received-- and if you take a look at other reviews it's also what others have received-- were piddly, tiny, no good slices at $4.50 a pop. The sausage and peppers slice had a lone sausage and lone pepper on a slice barely the size of my hand, and similarly the margherita had barely any sauce or cheese on a little tiny slice. The broccoli rabe slice was ultra plain as well. Perhaps this could be made up for in flavor, but sadly that wasn't the case here. Was it edible? Four different slices available currently: Margarita (sic), Pepperoni, Sausage and Peppers and Ricotta & Broccoli Rabe, all thin crust square slices. I got in line at 5:20pm, placed my order at 6pm, and got my 2 Margarita, 2 Pepperoni, 1 Sausage & Peppers and 1 Ricotta at 6:40pm. I tried a slice on opening day and it was meh, then tried again a month later, thinking they needed to iron things out. Still just fine. At that time three stars. Now, a year and a half later, Baby Lucs has made it into our pizza rotation. They've improved their slices and mastered their craft. It's no Lucali, but as far as slice shops go, I'd give it a 5 on their best days and 4 when it isn't quite as good. It's fairly unique and a great shop for our of town guests. It's not somewhere I'd travel to within the city, so people outside the neighborhood might skip this trip, but it's very very good for those in Bococa. Only bummer is the prices recently went up about $2 a slice, I assume bc of inflation. A regular is a little more than $5 and it used to be about $3. Still worth it though. read more

My boyfriend, his family, and I loved it here I mean come on look at that pizza The dough was thick but still had a Big Crunch which is super important in pizza. My favorite part was the crispy pepperoni. Love a good curl on them. The sauce tasted like it was fresh and homemade with attention to detail in their seasoning.
