If you are up for a special experience, this is the place. We were looking for a place to celebrate an event and wanted to do the chef tasting menu or a custom menu. This being one of the few locations offering complete non/ vegetarian chef tasting menu, we chose it. However, there were a few bad reviews about the quantity of the served meal in the tasting menu. So we were in doubts before we took the leap. Well, I must say, good that we did. You won't be too full like you do in a buffet( the feeling, I generally don't like). But none of us were hungry to go for a second meal as well. The portions were apt for us and we truly enjoyed the whole experience. The dishes were thoughtful. Braised fennel salad and vegetable steaks were my fav in vegetarian chef tasting menu and my friends enjoyed steak in particular. The dessert was impeccable with so many textures to blow you away. The ambience is warm, cozy and lively at the same time with a top notch service. You can see the chef making your food and your servers takes care of your every need well. The chef tasting menu is spread across 2 hours and though we paid for 5 courses, 3 additional courses were added to keep us occupied. The over all experience was exceptional and I would say, it is a must visit place for everyone. But if you don't want to believe me, the best way to know is to try it for yourself. read more

If you don't bother reading beyond this like, here's your takeaway: if you are visiting Salt Lake and consider yourself a foodie, this is the one place you can't miss. I've been to many of the high end restaurants in the salt lake valley, of which there are unfortunately few. TableX is by far the best in the area. Their menu changes seasonally, sometimes even week to week based on the ingredients they can source locally. Their dishes allow you to enjoy the wonderful flavor of the individual ingredients as well as the way that they mix. They also have a non-alcoholic beverage pairing option that is a must have. It's rare to have a meal this good that also feels like quite a good value in the fine cuisine world- $100 for 7 courses, or $75 for 5. We have spent a lot more on dining that wasn't nearly as good. Holding and unplanned dinner isn't ever ideal, but that's kind of what happened and I'm glad Table X was able to accommodate us. I had a colleague flying in from out of town, and with a flight delay, I wasn't sure time we'd end up here. I get the feeling that they strongly prefer reservations (but bummed they don't accept reservations via Yelp quite yet) as they asked me when I finally arrived just after 8pm if I had one. I did not, but we were soon led to a table near the kitchen. You should know that I'm a garden geek, so already before I actually entered the building, I was a fan. I spent a little time in the back part of the property looking over their garden and spotting all the different herbs, veggies, legumes, greens, and other beautiful things they have growing there. It's extremely tidy, and even at this time of year when everything is still pretty small, I imagine it will provide a nice supplement to the needs of the establishment. So ya, I was biased already by the time I sat down. We were hungry, so we wasted no time in ordering the asparagus and the vegetable dukkah to start. Both were good, but the bout goes to the dukkah for its varied texture and inventive ingredients. For mains, I got the bavette (flank) steak and my colleague had the halibut. While the steak was good, the hands down winner was the halibut--it was butter perfection and served with sweet little pearl onions and delicate fingerling potatoes. The grilled radiccio with my steak was not my favorite, and I do love radiccio, but the bitterness was a different layer that I could at least appreciate. I think the charm here would be to come back and try the chef's table. That's their whole thing--chef driven, chef's menu, we three chefs--and it would be fun to talk to them and see them work. This is not a comfort food, pile on the portions kind of place. If you measure quality by how much food you get, you're going to be sorely disappointed. While we both left satisfied, it wasn't an egregious amount of food. When you're picking the ingredients at market or in your own garden, you focus on the highest quality possible, and charge accordingly. Yes, coming back and sitting in the back at the chef's table, and doing the tasting table. It makes me want to grab someone who also appreciates both cooking and gardening, and go on a tasting adventure there together through the tasting menu of seven courses. read more

We did the full course and wine pairing. It was a really fun an unique experience. The food was absolutely incredible and the wine pairing made it even better. The bread is so yummy, but the butter is to die for. They took us out in the garden after and gave us a tour. Loved how they incorporated flowers into the meal and so many fresh and unique flavors. 4/5 strictly for the fact that it's a very expensive meal with not very large portions. It's been a long time since I've gone to a higher end restaurant that I pretty much hated. I get it if we order multiple things and don't like maybe one or two of them. But this time, we liked nothing. -Pork skins-gross. -The pasta starter I didn't like at all. I can't even describe why. -I got the chicken dish and it was probably the smallest and most dry chicken I've ever eaten. I couldn't believe it. And for that price?!!! Get outta here! -the hubs got the fish and it looked disgusting. He said it wasn't that great either. -and to top it off....the milk cake was the driest cake I have ever eaten in my life. WHAT?! Culinary happiness! Lets just say VERBENA GRANITA, now. This little swath of creative genius came to us in the carrot appetizer, go there asap to try it. Also, the local lamb comes sizzling in cast iron skillet with an incredibly savory mushroom sauce and spruce salt. The homemade sourdough bread is delicious. They actually have bread recipes written on the wall in the open kitchen. So cool. The chefs attention to detail is impressive and his creativity inspiring. Quick service and knowledgeable staff make this a must try. We found a sophisticated clientele and relaxing ambiance. Table X is a true Salt Lake Gem! Garden fresh, or in our case, summer garden harvest preserved for winter delight. Very inventive styles and plays on ingredients. Dry aged beets had a beautiful texture that pushed back just enough to create feeling of savory substance but was complimented with the sweet bed of warm housemade yogurt. Farm-to-table is difficult as it is to alter menu to match the current harvest and Table X has perfected the approach of preserving and using on-site garden ingredients even in the heart of a cold, smog-laden Utah winter. Each dish presented a different experience for the pallet with an undercurrent of a few similar floral notes. My only tip would be requesting new cutlery after the seafood dish. Remnants of fish could peek through on subsequent dishes. Overall, Chef Mike created moments of delicious joy in the beginning of 2021. So first things first, start saving your money for a dinner at Table X. Once you go, start saving again for second trip. Table X would (in my humble and very inexperienced opinion) easily be a Michelin Star dining experience at triple the cost. Here is what you need to know: 1)Cost: Let's get this out of the way. It's not cheap. Our meal came out to 280 bucks for the 7 course meal, a soda drink and a bread to take home. I'll get to why it's crazy worth it. 2)Location: It's located in a cozy building that seats probably no more than 45 people. There is a private dining area in the back. Very clean and simple. We were lucky enough to get reservations for the counter which put us right in front of the action. It's 2 table top seats with a window that literally makes you feel like you are in a cooking show. You interact with the staff (mind you it's very busy, but they are all way nice) and get to see, hear and smell all the amazing food being made. It's life changing. Oh yeah, the toilets were black and the whole area was awesome. 3)Food: My words will not do this justice. Amazing, all seven courses were such a wild and fresh variety that it was perfect. The salad and pasta was beyond fresh. The bass was cooked like nothing else. Even the mushrooms were amazing and I hate mushrooms. They change there menu often, so just trust me on this. Also, the presentation was perfect. 4)Service: The real star of the show was these people. They just have millions of servers because we had tons of people help us. It was never too much, just the right timing, we spent three hours there and never once felt rushed. We had Cassie who had been in the industry for years and by the end she felt like an old friend. She explained everything, kept the food moving and shared of her love for working at Table X. Who does that!! Sometimes the owner/chef of a place does the customary rounds of tables in most places to check on everyone. It always seemed fake to me. Chef/Owner Mike is the HUGE exception to this. This guy not only introduced himself at the start of the meal, but delivered meals, filled our drinks and checked up on us at least five times. He gave us a solid goodbye as we left with some kind words. It felt like we were leaving his house. The kitchen cooks were all friendly and smiling the entire time. You really felt like a million bucks. Reservations are a little tough to come by and they do take a $100 deposit, which is credited to you meal. Be patient and plan WAY ahead. My husband took me here for my birthday. We did the Chef table 7 course meal option. It was amazing. The atmosphere was a mix of elegant and relaxing comfort. All of the food was exceptionally made and had thoughtful presentation. I'm not a fan of butter and there in house made butter was fantastic. Don't think I'll ever eat any other butter unless it's from Table X. The bread was exceptional, the flavors all went well together. There was not a pairing of food and non alcoholic drinks that didn't complement each other. The food and drinks alone were wonderful. However, the way they paired just elevated the whole experience. The amount of food was also well balanced and filled you up without overdoing it. They use seasonal ingredients which means the menu changes. This makes it a great place to visit during different seasons. If you ever need a reason to go back for more. Can't wait to eat here again. This was such an exceptional dining experience! This was a seven course meal and you could add either an alcohol tasting along with it or a non-alcohol pairing. The service is excellent. Mickey and Courtney absolutely went above and beyond to make our dining experience memorable. We were celebrating my grandma's birthday and they went out of their way to make sure she had a great time. (See the menu, with what must be a typo on the trout.) The courses were generally creative and served in a good order (light/cool to hot/heavy), and the meal was filling but not overly so. The rigatoni, trout, and steak were my favorites. The wine pairing was a good deal at $40 for 5 3oz pours, with nice flavor and variety. The seating area is very nice. The tables are nicely decorated and spaced out (a big plus for us during this COVID surge; and shoutout to the restaurant for taking precautions!). Definitely worth a visit! read more

We were blown away by this experience. So much so that we made reservations to go back a week from now. In my opinion this is what other restaurants should look towards for service. We sat at the chefs table and the whole staff were at full attention for the entirety of our meal. The work in unison so well that everything is perfect by the time it makes it to you table. I recommend doing the tasting menu to get an idea of what they provide and then going back to have the full version of whatever blew your mind the most. Everything can be made to share in multiple capacities, so just work with your wait staff and they'll figure out what fits your tastes. They made our anniversary very special. This a fun little foodie find in the neighborhoods of SlC. It is very much farm to table. In fact, everything down to the butter is homemade in house! They have an adorable veggie & herb garden so the produce is homegrown and fresh. They obsess over the details: great customer service, a surprise little appetizer and dessert compliments of the chef and the fresh sourdough bread is amazingggg. The menu is very much New American so expect fancy flavor pairings and small servings. I got the risotto and it was pretty good but not the best I've ever had. My boyfriend got the steak and the flavor was good but again, small portions for $34. I guess the reason for the 4 star review is simply because there are a lot of really amazing restaurants in the area at this price point and while the service was spectacular, the food didn't take my breath away. We had a flax seed and zucchini amuse Bouche, the amazing house sourdough, homemade burrata, poached egg on lentils, striped sea bass with trout roe, potato gnocchi, a bavette steak (my husband said it's his top steak ever!), oat milk and honey custard, and an olive oil cake. All amazing!! However, the portions are bigger than we expected and we would have been good with five courses since we were getting pretty full near the end. We came in with high expectations thinking it was the same chefs that closed down Forage and we found out we were dead wrong. The food was excellent but not as many portions as Forage and I should quit comparing the two anyway. We went with the tasting menu and added on 3 items to give us a grant total of 8 courses. We left filling just right, not overly full and not hungry by any means. Loved the colors, variety, and different types of accompaniments. Each dish was very unique in its own way. Each item went well with each other. Service was phenomenal and always on the ball which made the meal go that much better. This place is an amazing hidden gem; a very special restaurant with absolutely fantastic food and service. I happened to be in the SLC area for 2 days and luckily was able to squeeze in a stop at Table X. It was out of my way but totally worth the drive and I was blown away by the menu. Where do I begin?! Our server was AMAZING (forgive me for not remembering her name). We sat at the Chefs Table were we could see how the kitchen ran. It was spectacular! We frequent chefs tables often and can say that this was the most calmly run kitchen that we've seen. Clean, calm and beautifully run. The food was incredible and the experience was just as good. The drinks were the cherry on top. If we return to SLC, Table X will be the first in the list to return for dinner. We HIGHLY recommend this place. You will not be disappointed. read more
