The drive thru service was exellent. Was greeted with a Pleasent voice. The ordering process went smoothly. Wait time was minimal. Ordered the nacho party tray. For fast food it was good.

When I say the employees there suck... they sucked. I got out of the car and went to go inside and order but they didn't even want to come up and talk to me to tell my why the lobby is closed from 7am- 11pm. Like no explanation and they wouldn't come to the door and talk to me. On top of that they messed up my order and forgot a cheesy roll up and yeah they are like 1.50 but the incompetence of they employees there was unforgivable and I will not be seeing this Taco Bell again.

I went through the drive thru and ordered a #4 and 2 toasted cheddar chalupas (for two people) every time I'm in the drive thru at this Taco Bell they get my order wrong so I was pleasantly surprised to have checked the bag and find a correct order! I asked for more hot sauce and the boy literally grabs as much hot sauce as his hand can hold and hands it to me. Not sure if he was being smart or overly generous. Either way I took the sauces for taco Tuesday at my place best week! Anyways, the toasted cheddar chalupa is still fairly new and I wanted to try it. OMG it was worth the risk! I got chicken for both but next time I'll definitely try the beef. Yum!!! Would recommend! If you're going to this location just park and go inside. You'll get better customer service.

Drive thru is fast, but don't expect your order to be right or anyone to answer the phone. Definately check before you drive off.

I ordered the carnitas tacos, grabbed my food, and headed next door for a drink. The moment I picked up the taco, I knew something was different. The aroma, the heat, and the juices dripping from it told me I was in for a treat. After the first bite, it was game over--the taco never made it back to the plate. My only mission was to finish it. That's why there are no pictures. I actually went back inside just to compliment the chef. This is the closest thing to Taco El Gordo I've found on Oʻahu, and I'll absolutely be back for more.

I ordered on their website online for pickup and beer was on the menu. It warns, "ID check at Pickup." OK, a Modelo sounds good on Taco Tuesday, so I order one, only to be told when we get there that you can't order beer for pickup. What? It seems simple enough to remove the option from the pickup menu. Instead, they had to cancel the whole order because they couldn't credit just the beer. It had to be reordered and paid for separately. Needless to say there was no tip. The food is genuinely good. I ordered carne asada tacos with pico de gallo, and a side of chips, salsa and guacamole. The chips are what I would call the real thing, and the guacamole was not the usual boring stuff you get elsewhere. The salsa, however, is not really salsa. It's more like a hot sauce. It was very flavorful but I like salsa with some texture to it with my chips, and that is what you would expect. It's a nice place, looks clean, and staff was polite and professional. I'll try again another time and update this review if warranted.

I'm a business owner and to me customer service matters more than anything, even when the experience isn't perfect. Kono's stepped up. I would share a photo but it's currently passing through my digestive system and not feeling very photogenic at the moment. Ignore that silly disgusting mess attached to my original review, but I will leave the photos up because I think they are instructive for management. Mission Accomplished Kono's Kailua! Not a criticism but I couldn't communicate with the Uber Eats driver through the website app. Whoever it was found me.

Do not sleep on this HIDDEN GEM!…read more I've been coming here for years and these guys simply do not miss. Consistently good quality food and friendly service. I'm from Arizona and the quality of Mexican food in Hawaii is pretty abysmal out here. So trust me when I say this place is stellar. Their carnitas are completely out of this world. Especially when placed inside a chile relleno. Simply the best I've had anywhere. Period. They don't do everything how I like. For example, I think their chips are too thick and not salty enough. And the salsa is a little watery for my liking, but on the plus side, both are FREE and the salsa is super fresh and tasty. The vibe inside the restaurant is super fun too and reminds me of the old school joints back home. Theme is definitely on point. They also often have live music, which is awesome. They don't serve alcohol, but do allow byob for a small fee. It's usually busy for dinner, especially on taco Tuesday, so plan accordingly. They do offer a good taco Tuesday special btw. Staff is always super cool. Shout out to Emmanuel specifically. He has been my server since day one and just an all around a cool guy. Always smiling and good energy every time I see him. On my last visit, I had AJ while he was training and he did great too. This place is a beacon on a hill. And I mean that not only because it's good, but because I go very far out of my way to get here. Worth it every time. I wish they didn't charge extra for more salsa or for their tasty habanero salsa, but I guess the restaurant biz is tough. On my last visit, I made the mistake of somehow ordering the recommended house made mammamia sauce, which came out in a soup bowl and cost $5. It's shockingly delicious, but I don't recommend getting that unless you confirm the size and price up front Definitely come get the carnitas chile relleno if you're passing Temple valley. Even if you're not passing through, go out of your way to visit. You won't be disappointed!

The sauces are awesome. It was a little disappointing to see that the sauces on the side were being charged from $3 to $5. My fav dish was the garlic shrimp with the Diablo sauce. The local is a strip mall - the decor is very ethnic and the owner believes in God and doing the right things. Definitely try this place - plus the Byodo temple is right across from it.

But don't let that deter you. We waited quietly and patiently at the check in counter, and watched the staff walk between taking orders, delivering water and dishes. No one caught our eye to say we'll be with you in a minute, even if they stood right in front of us touching their counter pad. We thought we were being ignored. We didn't try to stop anyone, though. Others from behind squeezed past us to just get seats at the bar. However, we had a group of five wanting to dine in at a table. I watched as seated guests waited for someone to take their orders. As soon as staff were able to engage, we were greeted, and advised where we'd be seated once another staff member had mopped the floor by the table. And then the service was great from there. Well into our meal, which was delish(!), with water refills and requests fulfilled, we discovered there was a brand new gal on deck who was trying to be helpful with utensils and napkin prep, but no one had a chance to train during the lunch rush, which was above the normal crowd because of the wonderful community event right outside - the "I Love Kailua" street fair). Everything was just super busy. And I say lunch rush with tongue in cheek because it was well past the lunch hour and people were still lining up out the door. So glad everyone was patient and were able to enjoy their food and beverages (we weren't drinking but those margaritas looked fire!) in air conditioned comfort. Don't forget to ask for the salsa, sour cream, or guacamole. Once staff are in rhythm, everything works out.

I ordered the California burrito, and my boyfriend got the chimichanga. This was my first time having a California burrito served wet with red sauce on top, and I liked it! My boyfriend has been here before and always raves about the chimichanga, so of course he enjoyed his meal. I had a bite of the chimichanga and it was pretty good! I was also really impressed with the horchata--it comes in a huge portion and has a strong cinnamon flavor, so yummy! Overall, this is a solid choice for Mexican food in the Kailua area.
