Dining area. Clean. No people. Open seating

When I was in high school, I had a very rich friend that was provided every opportunity to succeed, but was a complete failure in every way. That makes sad. I also had a friend that was much less fortunate with little opportunity to succeed, but he used the little resources he had to become an outstanding member of society. I really looked up to him. It's rare to see a kid pull himself up by his proverbial boot straps and become a positive presence in the community. He had my sincere respect. Now, I must admit, I went to a very rich high school and there were no poor kids. He was just a figment of my wild imagination. However If I had a poor, admirable friend in high school, I wish he could have been the Taco Bell in Lomita. Lomita is not typically my first choice for dining. Usually I feel like it's a good place for a new tattoo, maybe some rims, a nose piercing, but decided I would take a chance on a fast food taco concoction. I was really surprised when I walked through the front door of the Taco Bell in Lomita. It was like the employees....cared. I know that's a strong word for a Taco Bell and trust me, it was a weird feeling to have at Taco Bell. (Usually I have weird feelings 30 minutes after leaving Taco Bell) The decor was different than any other Taco Bell I've visited. It had a Motel 6 lobby vibe but was very clean. The colors of the restaurant were different, it had benches, and even a lounge area like a Starbucks where you could relax while you digested your encharito. It even had a charging station bar made from recycled wood from Azusa, California! How often are dead trees from Azusa imported to Lomita. I say never! We were the only people inside the restaurant, so we pretty much had our choice of seating. The manager came out several times to talk to us and make us feel welcome. The entire experience was enjoyable, much like you would expect from an overachieving friend that I never knew. As we left, a stray dog "from the streets"wandered into the restaurant. This is not uncommon in my poor friends neighborhood, but I wondered how he would handle it. Typically, when a dog goes missing at a Taco Bell, you figure there will be a promotion for "steak products" shortly after. Now, I've eaten dog at Korean restaurants, but I've never knowingly eaten dog in a Double Steak Grilled Cheese Burrito. I like dogs, and I like eating dogs, but honestly I REALLY like Taco Bell meat more. I don't know what it is but I'm pretty sure it's not dog. So they took the dog to the kitchen, held it down on the chopping table (where they prepare the 7 layer nacho fries), started the IV, and suddenly my friend ("the manager") stopped them. Now, I couldn't wait to see what would happened next, but the diarrhea was hitting fast and I needed to get home. I assume my friend did "the right thing". Overall, this was an awesome visit to my new favorite Taco Bell in the South Bay Area! I reconnected with a friend I never had and have a new imaginary story about eating dog, but I have so much more. I learned what it means to be a true friend. A clean friend without bugs. A friend that cares. A friend that gives what I demand from a restaurant. A friend that probably doesn't serve dog. I look forward to getting to know you better this holiday season, Taco Bell in Lomita. You put your rich, spoiled friend, Taco Bell on PCH in Torrance, to shame. I'm impressed with what you've done with so little, hope you get more customers, and eventually kill our mutual friend in Torrance and use his home to better our community. I see you as a taco vigilante and support you in your endeavors. Merry Christmas!

    Joke of a taco

What a damn joke. Too bad 0 stars is not allowed I Ordered Tacos with no lettuce and i got a shell with a sample of meat and cheese. For the price of these damn tacos they could at least give you the meat. Horrible.

I've been here before, and the birria tacos were exactly what I needed for a late-night craving. Crispy on the outside with a good amount of filling and strong flavor - they really hit the spot. I ended up having four of them. The consomé on the side was really good too - rich and flavorful, almost something I could've just had on its own. The street tacos were solid. The carnitas had that tender, slightly crisp texture, and the al pastor added a bit more seasoning and contrast. Nothing overcomplicated, just straightforward and satisfying. Service was friendly, and the setup is quick and casual. In the South Bay where places tend to close early, it was nice that they were open until around 10pm. Overall, this is a no-frills taco spot where the focus is on the food. Easy choice when you're in the mood for tacos.

This review is about Tacos El Goloso, located at 1605 Pacific Coast Hwy, Harbor City, CA…read more My daughter is an EMT. While on duty, she stopped at this location and placed an order. Before her food was ready, she received an emergency call and had to leave immediately. That's the reality of being a first responder--when a call comes in, you leave immediately, no time to wait for your meal. Before leaving, she politely asked the cashier to cancel the order and refund her card. Instead of showing understanding or offering assistance, the cashier was dismissive and unhelpful. After completing the call, my daughter contacted the restaurant, apologized for the inconvenience, and again requested a refund. She was initially told that the receipt had been thrown away. Later, the receipt was apparently found, but she was then informed that if she wanted a refund--or even the food she had paid for--she would have to return to the location in person. The problem is that she lives more than an hour away and was only in the area because she was working. I called the following day in an attempt to resolve the issue. Unfortunately, I was met with the same attitude. The employee refused to provide her name, refused to provide a manager's name, and refused to provide any contact information for someone who could address the complaint. To be clear, this is not about the cost of a meal. Had the employee been courteous, professional, or even remotely helpful, we likely would have let the matter go. Emergencies happen. Schedules change. We understand that. What prompted this review was not the lost food or the refund itself--it was the employee's rude attitude, lack of professionalism, and complete unwillingness to help resolve a simple customer service issue. I will also acknowledge that by the end of my phone call, I became frustrated and was not as polite as I should have been. I regret that. However, that frustration came only after repeated attempts to handle the situation respectfully and being met with rudeness and resistance at every turn. A business can recover from a mistake. What it cannot afford is employees who treat customers with contempt and then refuse to provide any way to contact management when a legitimate concern is raised. Management should be aware that this employee's behavior reflects poorly on the entire business. If this is how customers are treated when they encounter an unexpected emergency, then potential customers deserve to know before choosing to spend their money here.

I ended up getting a chorizo breakfast burrito for $14.50. The burrito is good. The flour tortilla is quality and tastes as if they're made in house. There is a good amount of chorizo and egg; however, for my preferences, it was light on the crispy hash browns and mine was pretty heavy on the melty cheese. Their red salsa is really flavorful, however, and that amplifies the flavors. I definitely would come back if I were in the area, in order to try their tacos, burritos, and ceviches. The menu was also difficult to read because many of the prices had faded badly -- they really need to go over the board with a Sharpie so first-time customers can actually see the prices clearly. I ordered the birria plate. The portion of meat was very generous -- probably at least half a pound -- and it came with a few standard tortillas, a small bag of chopped onion, cilantro, plus three lemon wedges. It also included a small side of refried beans with cheese on top, which was unremarkable, and some mushy Mexican rice that could have been much better. The meat itself was definitely the best part of the meal. It also came with a small container of consommé, but it was only lukewarm even though I had driven just 10 minutes away, so the food overall could have been hotter. There was only one hot sauce included, and I didn't care for it at all. I also missed the usual fresh radish slices and the standard red or green salsa options that many birria places provide. The food was packaged nicely, but overall I was expecting better for the price. It came to above $18, which felt overpriced for the quality, especially considering there's no dine-in option. While there was enough meat for two people, I personally would have preferred slightly smaller portions with better overall quality and sides. I've definitely had better birria elsewhere, which is why I'm giving this rating.

The dipping consommé is perfect and the side salsa is fire! I am happy to say this San Pedro location is just as good as the Torrance location.
