This location used to be my headquarters after a club or drunken night back in my 20's. It didn't matter where in the city I was--I would stop off here and take a cab back home. The staff here was always friendly and very quick with the orders--whether it was Taco Bell or Pizza Hut food. It's probably looked the same for the last 15 years that I can remember and I'm sure still has people who would use the bathroom for "questionable" behavior but nonetheless, this was my favorite place back in the day. The reason it's one star worthy is that there are down on their luck people who will come in, not to buy food, but to harass the customers eating their food in order to get food from them. One of the oddest experiences I have had at a Taco Bell. After a great Whitesnake concert at Irving Plaza, and a night of partying we were stumbling around and saw this Taco Bell/Pizza Slut location. Yes! Cheap Tacos and Bean Burritos off the value menu is always winning! Yes, decor is bland and on the edge of grimy. Suspect patrons are strewn around. At one table were a couple of homeless dudes, at another table was a guy in a tux and a girl in a cocktail dress and she was not too happy with him, at another table were a group of guys playing dungeons and dragons, and then there were few beat box kids hanging out. Nonetheless, digging into a bean burrito late at night when quite buzzed is still a joy after all these years. It never gets old. Tacos are still crunchy and tasty. Diet sierra mist too is a plus. I do have a theory though that everything Taco Bell makes is made out of the same thing. They just glop different concoctions of the same ingredients together, and presto!, a new menu item. As usual, the bathroom is another thing to behold. When the door is covered in graffiti, the top of the bowl is made of cardboard, and the dirty nastiness makes you not want to touch anything, you know you're not in a high-end restaurant for sure! For all the Taco Bell locations in NYC, this is probably one of the best even in 2019. I know the Cantina locations opened up recently, but only one serves alcohol and I've heard mixed reviews of the others. The place is pretty clean in my opinion. If anything, they could have tried to move the sauce/napkin/utensil section away from the middle to remove some of the congestion, but it's a minor complaint. Is it better than Taco Bell in the suburbs? No, but just let's appreciate that there's even a Taco Bell that's in the city that's not located in the grime of Penn Station. read more

Hands down one of the better locations in the city. I always go here when they have new exclusives since they make it the best, the toasted chedder chalupa was INSANE! They ran out of it in a few days though and didnt get more unfortunately. They load up the crunch wraps and tacos and other things. For some reason, they always run out of some of the newer stuff for some reason which is dissapointing. Also there could be more seating. Not saying expand the restaurant into the sidewalk but like rearrange the tables. My tacos are never crushed and the food is never soggy or anything. Its absolutely made with love everytime which you cant say about all city fast food unfortunately, but the staff here is the best. The Baja blast zero is always out of syrup. Yeah while its nice to splurge and eat unhealthy food, id rather have the sugar free baja blast but its always out. So I end up getting either water or saying whatever and just getting a soda. Be careful if you sit by the window, because this is in union square, you will often be asked by tourists and homeless people for your receipt so they can go to the bathroom. I was in there one time and one of the staff members was arguing pretty loudly with an ESL tourist and it was a little disgruntling to my lunch break to say the least, but I aint going to let this ruin the best taco bell in the city, just something to be conscious of. Naked Chicken Chalupa is a twist on the origional Chalupa, difference being, the outside breading is made of thin fried chicken. Research into fast food eaters preferances dovetailed with smart guys in gladdes wearing long white coats must have conjured up this modern miracle of food science, I'd not be able to come up with an idea close too it. Perhaps Taco Vell took a page from the KFC Double Down from a few years back, but chicken and Taco Bell too me just dont have a great synergy. The breading on this product happens to be quite good, freshly cooked not soggy. The sauce is spicy avocado, the tomatoes and lettuce are fresh, you get the idea. I won't lie: the food has been perfectly fine every time I've gone in here and the service has always been friendly. What I can't stand is the staff's inability to police their own restaurant. Every time I've gone in here, I've been accosted by no less than two different people begging for money or food. The last time I went inside, it smelled like a subway car full of bodily waste. It almost ruined my appetite...I had to go outside and eat in the park in 20 degree weather just to get some fresh air. If they want to keep customers coming in, they should prohibit the rampant panhandling in their restaurant. Transplants of the city who are longing for the nostalgic Taco Bell fast food experience might just find it here. Outside of the borough versions that include the full menu and even drive-ins, this location might be the closest thing to what the rest of America gets to experience. Best not get your hopes up, but for late night munchies this place might just be the one. The usual suspects of fast food past are here - 5 layer burritos, Mexican pizzas, crunchy tacos, chalupas, nachos, etc. The prices are definitely on the cheaper end for Union Square, but TB fans might rebel over the non-dollar menu deals that cease to exist here. If it's drunk food, it's solid. The other TBs are nothing close. Who else knew this was also a Pizza Hut? I haven't seen a dedicated one in the city just yet and it appears this combo Taco Bell / Pizza Hut mix is the closest I'll get to one. Truth be told, I haven't had any Pizza Hut in years, but with the quality of NYC pizzerias, it appears I won't be in line for any in the near future. No one expects top level service at these kind of joints and one certainly won't get any here. I find it enjoyable that the booths and table tops have a certain stickiness to them and the bathrooms, day and night, are just as post-Taco Bell apocalyptic as one can imagine. There are not that many Taco Bell in existence, well not as many as Bk or MCd's but you remember where they are located. Best thing to order to me is Crunch Wrap Supreme, it is like a tostado sandwich with lettuce and alot of bread and usually cost $3.99 by itself. Volcano taco is pretty awesome, Hope they still have that and the sauce is really not that hot. Oh my gosh, this was the best experience I've ever had at a Taco Bell. I was kind of hesitant to go in based on other reviews, but I pass it every day and thought I'd give it a chance. It was 1 pm on a Friday, so the seating area was insanely packed, and there were about 4 people ahead of me in line. I moved up quickly and ended up being able to order within 2 minutes of entering the restaurant. I definitely wouldn't have found a seat if I were wanting to stay to eat, so if you are looking for a place to sit during lunch rush, you might have to head to a Union Square bench. The gal at the register (I think her name was Victoria? Or Veronica) was so friendly and sweet. From having worked several jobs in food service, I can really appreciate that. I went to fill up my drink, and as soon as I was done, they called my name. I was honestly confused as to if they were calling for *me* and not another Allison since it came up so fast. I was like, awesome. Everyone I interacted with was so friendly. Another point I'd like to make is about the food itself. The Taco Bell I visit at home in Maryland normally messes up something about my order -- like if I ask for no tomatoes, there will still be tomatoes. Stuff like that. My friend and I took the subway from midtown specifically to eat here, we love TBell THAT much. And we were not disappointed. Everything my (short) previous review states holds true: This place is in a great location and it is VERY clean inside (there is, seriously, always someone walking around cleaning tables and throwing away trash). The staff is nice and very quick with getting the food ready and out to you (so you can commence stuffing your face). And the food is perfect. Exactly how you would expect Taco Bell to be! So Taco Bell has come up with a new novelty food item to draw in even more customers. Yes, its no longer the saving grace for potheads with late night munchies. Taco Bell is now also entering into the fast food breakfast market too. No, they don't have Sausage, Egg & Cheese McMuffins, at least not yet. But what they are offering now is their Egg Taco. So someone in their creative team came up with this genius idea. Why not craft a taco in which the taco shell itself is a fried egg?! And stuff that inside with either bacon or sausage, hash browns, and hot nacho cheese. Its a simple idea really, I'm surprised no one else has come up with this before. I loved everything about the Egg Taco except of course the fact that holding it with your bare hands makes for really greasy fingers. When I arrived there, there was nobody in there except for at least 8 workers and I was still waiting for at least 5 minutes until someone came to the counted to ask for our order. I asked for a full nacho box and got a tiny box instead. The packaging was terrible; my tacos fell out when they handed it to me and did not replace it. They did not give me my loaded fries and asked to see the receit so I showed them the online order confirmation. The manager was very rude and said he needs the paper copy. I dont understand what the difference is besides ones virtual and one isn't. The fries were cold even though they prepared it right in front of us. A friend and I went on a shopping spree from 34th Street and walked along 6th ave into Union Square, we decided to grab a quick snack. We saw Traco Bell and exchanged looks and went inside. I think it was about 3ish-4ish when all the high school kids were at this place. Got on line, and waited about 5 minutes. There was a cashier that took cash only, so we bypassed everyone. I just ordered the Potato Burrito and the price was three times the amount that I spent on the very same item (same size) at New Jersey Newport Mall. Whatexer, if your hungry, you get whatever. Just have to look around hard enough to find a seat. There was a tv screen with sport broadcasting on one side and another tv screen with all the security cameras screening in this place.
