I recently stopped by the Taco Bell on Green Bay Road in North Chicago, and overall, it was a pretty solid experience. As someone who appreciates a quick and tasty meal, I had high expectations, and while the food mostly delivered, there were some areas that could use improvement. **Food: 4 out of 5** I ordered a few items to get a good feel for the menu. The **Five Layer Beef Burrito** was decent, but it fell a bit flat for me--3 out of 5. I expected a bit more flavor and texture, as it felt a little one-note. The **Chalupa Supreme** also got a 3 out of 5 from me. While the shell was crispy and the toppings were fresh, I found it lacked a little punch in the seasoning. On the brighter side, the **Cheesy Dipping Burrito with Steak** was a highlight and definitely earned a 4 out of 5. The steak was juicy, and the cheese sauce made it a delightful treat. I could have easily gone for another one! The **Cinnamon Twists** were a sweet finish to my meal, scoring a solid 4 out of 5--crispy, light, and just the right amount of sweetness. Lastly, I tried the **Cinnabon Coffee**, which was surprisingly good at 3.5 out of 5. It had a nice cinnamon flavor that complemented my dessert nicely, though I wished it were a bit stronger. **Service: 3 out of 5** The service was okay, nothing to write home about. The staff was friendly, but the wait times were a bit longer than expected, especially for a fast-food joint. There seemed to be some confusion with the orders, which caused a slight delay. I appreciate that they were busy, but a little more efficiency would go a long way. **Atmosphere: 3 out of 5** The atmosphere was typical for a Taco Bell--casual and laid-back. However, it could use a little sprucing up. The dining area felt a bit worn, and the tables could have been cleaner. It's a fine place to grab a bite, but it doesn't have that inviting vibe that makes you want to linger. **Overall:** If you're in the North Chicago area and craving some fast Mexican food, this Taco Bell is a solid choice. Good service, Janice is always nice at the drive thru. Food appears to be fresh. Never really long lines and the bathroom is always clean.

Used the app so I could try out the new Baja Blast Gelato and also added a make your own cravings box. I thought everything looked good when I went to pick it up. I saw the employee get the separate bag for the gelato and the bag with the other food items was sealed with stickers, so I assumed it had all my order in it. But as soon as I got home I saw they forgot my Cheesy fiesta potatoes, and I wasn't going to drive all the way back. It's frustrating bc I could understand if I had a huge order or if it was super busy, but I literally just ordered 5 items, 3 of which should've been part of the cravings box, but somehow they just missed it before sealing the bags. There are just moments when you crave taco bell and this one is convenient because it's close but other than that they are always out of something whenever I go. In the morning for breakfast they never have orange juice. What's breakfast without orange juice? It makes the meal complete. This time around they didn't have the brisk mango tea which is my go to. I opted for the Strawberry Lemonade which was decent enough. I ordered their cravings box and ordered sauce, but I didn't get any of the sauce packets which is a bummer. They really need to standardize the way that they make orders. For example: I ordered two identical burritos and one was very neatly rolled with both ends folded inside the rolled up tortilla; and the other was more like folded in half and then rolled and one end was left completely open. Another example: sometimes the ingredients in the burrito are more segregated than the Jim Crow era... first bite is rice and tortilla; second bite is rice and cheese; third bite is cheese and meat; fourth bite is meat and beans; and fifth bite is beans and tortilla. Occasionally, they are well made with meat, rice, beans, cheese, and sauce pretty evenly distributed throughout the burrito -- so I know that it can be done. When I get something with lettuce, sometimes there are only a few little shreds of lettuce, and other times so much lettuce that it's that dominant taste of the item. I'll never order stackers again because the burritos were put on top of them, which apparently squeezed the cheese out of them and made a gooey mess inside the wrapper. There wasn't enough meat, so all I really tasted was red sauce and tortilla with a hint of cheese. I placed a pretty large order, and I thought that two packs of sauce per item ordered was a reasonable request. They didn't give me even one pack per item -- six packs less than the number of items I ordered. They only provided a few napkins, less than half as many as the number of items I ordered. Previously, I boycotted all Taco Bell locations for several years because I had ordered the pintos and cheese, checked my order at the window, and then asked the employee for a fork or spoon. He glared at me and asked "what for?" This happened at several locations. The only reason I have started getting Taco Bell again is that I have a job in which I work live-in shifts of 24 hours up to 3 days, and the burritos keep and reheat really well... and next time, I will park and go inside to make sure I get enough sauce packets and napkins. read more

The staff members have always been very polite, friendly, and provided quick service in the six times I've been here.
