There are a lot of Buenos, and while I am a fan of Tacos Bueno, I will be the first to admit that as a chain they have a consistency problem. Short put, there are bad Buenos, decent Buenos, good Buenos, very good Buenos and Excellent Buenos. This one is a very good Bueno. It's like Taco Bell on steroids my friend!!! While driving to Walmart to get more water, as I drove along the freeway, I see this big sign that said - "Taco Bueno". What is a Taco Bueno? Upon walkin' into Taco Bueno, I realized it's just your typical Tex-Mex fast food joint like a Taco Bell, but I think this fast food taco joint is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay moa' bettah! Why do I say that? Upon walking up to the ordering counter, I decided to get two supah large chicken burritos & a small drink. What can I say about the grub? This Taco Bueno office is just up the street from my companies Dallas office so any time I am in town I find myself here...at least once...often more than once that week. I love me some Taco Bueno and this location delivers on the regular. Located conveniently off of LBJ Freeway (635) this Taco Bueno has both a dining room and drive thru option (the drive thru is typically opened later than the dining room). I've used both dining options and have always been satisfied by experiencing friendly and knowledgeable staff and my orders, which I typically customize/modify; have always been hot, fresh, and accurate. My go to items: Mexi Dips & Chips, Muchaco, or Potato Burrito. To go with my orders I also will get their onions, jalapenos, and fresh classic salsa from their salsa bar. Speaking of the salsa bar there are lots of other options to choose from, those just happen to be the items i gravitate towards. Taco Bueno has been an active part of my dining out life for many years, since I was a child growing up in the DFW metroplex and I am happy to see that after all these years Bueno continues to deliver amazing and fresh Tex-Mex and that delivery keeps this BuenoHead coming back time and time again. Very clean salsa bar area. The two times we visited over the last few days we noticed the crunchy tacos are noticeably smaller and barely have any meat, mostly lettuce and two tiny pieces of tomato on mine tonight with a small sprinkling of cheese with prices almost doubling. Guess inflation is to blame. If you want a quality taco go to Torchy's, but if you want a cheaper taco fix this is the place, you may need to order more food than you formerly did in months past. read more

The cashier was very rude. After I ordered my "Whollatta Platter" it was served to me with different options pictured. I asked why and she said because when you chose a chicken vs beef enchiladas the additional items are soft not hard tacos. Now how am I supposed to know that? Went here last week for my taco fix and I was impressed by the amount of food that I got and the price! I decided to get their new street taco plate. The plate comes with the choice of two tacos, rice, beans, and chips. I decided to get one chicken taco and one beef taco. Instead of rice and beans I got double refried beans. Also, they have an amazing salsa bar! The bar had a couple of selection of salsas, onions, and cilantro. I loaded up on these while I waited for my tacos. I got my food to go and ate it at home. I enjoyed the chicken taco and beans at first. They both had a really great flavor, but were a little too salty for me. The beans had a good amount of cheese and the taco had just enough of the grilled chicken, veggies, and a sprinkle of cojita cheese. No, he wasn't ----It's that good!! Yeah we went here after a few drinks but the two pound serving of nachos I got were one of the most delicious things I've ever had. Ooey, gooey, cheesy, spicy--it was everything that a nacho dream consists of. I've been fortunate to have a Bueno near my work at 3 different work sites over the years. The previous location in Fort Worth I went to the problem was they were usually so slow. I've been to this location 3 times. The drive through intercom is very weak. I can't hear them. I don't have great hearing to begin with but still. On 4/5 I got the chicken tortillas combo with a beef taco and a large ice tea. About a half hour later eating in my car on my lunch break I was on the last chicken tortilla and something was foul in it as I puked all over my nice pants and shirt and made a little mess in my car. Ruined my lunch, I smelled like puke not to mention some secretion leak at the other end. I was able to continue my shift but I felt like hell and I am still not 100% It only takes one bad experience and I"m done. I'm not getting the tortillas again probably and will be emailing corporate. Food poisoning is no joke. Completely ruined my lunch, my day and I was so ill I went to bed early and missed the NCAA basketball championship. Thanks a million Bueno! Taco Bueno seems to have hit a bit of a rough patch lately, emerging successfully from Chapter 11 bankruptcy in January 2019 after being acquired by Sun Holdings. They've also shut down a fair number of area locations. This one, directly off the 635 W Service road used to be a test location, as their corporate HQ was just a mile or two east. This may no longer be the case as corporate has moved to Decker Drive, also in Irving. I used to really count on Taco Bueno in the early 2000s for my quick service Tex-Mex, it was never gourmet, or authentic, but it fit the bill. As the chain struggled it seemed as if the food suffered equally. The muchaco, which is more or less their signature item, tends to come out with the pita bread/flatbread sort of dry. Which really hurts the mouthfeel and overall palatability of the item. All that aside, the ingredients are still more natural than Taco Bell, the cheddar cheese is still grated from large blocks in store, and the salsa is recognizable as coming from tomatoes versus packets of modified Tabasco sauce. Another complaint unique to this location is their tendency to dish out gingerly portions of protein. This was especially apparent with their new slow cooked brisket, each item was shorted at least half the proper amount, which was disappointing. I am really rooting for Taco Bueno to pull themselves up by the boot straps and recover, but Tex-Mex like other food categories is severely over crowded. Taking note that Del Taco couldn't make it in the area is also another possibly salient look in Bueno's future, but only time will tell. My recommendation to the chain would be to implement some sort of fried potato crisp or fries, one of the most popular items at Taco Bell are their poorly crafted Nacho Fries, it wouldn't take much to trump those and fill the void Del Taco left behind of burritos, tacos, and crinkle cut fries. I do also have to credit them for the gratis salsa bar, as it provides a path to make even dollar menu type items "supreme". You have your choice of 3 different blended salsas, pico de gallo, minced onions, and pickled jalapenos. You can even ask for these additions through the drive through. Some restaurants will also have a few varieties of Cholula inside to spice your meal up. read more

Cashier helping to expedite $10 order. Being helpful is great, but not at the expense of compromising quality. The drive thru cashier did not change her gloves to make the food. The cashier reached into her cashier's box & used the same gloves to grab the shredded cheese and tortillas for the food. mmmmmm taco bueno is one of my favorite fast food Mexican places. However, this review is mainly on the service here. Eating in, I can get as much salsa as I want, so there isn't an issue here, however, this location inside is not always clean. It just seems very disheveled every time I come here. Then for drive thru, I feel like they want to charge me for all the extra salsa I want. I just ask for 2 for each item I received, and they can never give me that for some reason. I don't understand why because other locations will give me extra if I ask for it. Sometimes, I just go inside, and then I will ask for a water cup and fill that cup up with salsa! The service is average speed, the poor server did well dealing with my impatient hubby but the portion of food for the price is crazy huge & I found it to be mighty tasty... my only complaint is that the chicken seemed a little "mass produced", it really didn't have much seasoning but I can't lie I was still very impressed for my first time. I'm definitely going to put this place on my "Go to" list for cheat meals. Another plus was definitely the loads of salsa they give out. Love this particular Taco Bueno.... Always very clean, and rarely busy. Food is always fresh and fast. And, as with all taco bueno's, you get a good bang for your buck. Worker spoke very broken English. I advised him at the intercom that I could not understand him. When I got to the window he was extremely mad and said What did you say to me. I thought he was talking my order. I have him my order again and he said FUCK YOU. I asked for the manager and he said there was not one. I told him I was not leaving until I talked to the manager. A manager finally came to the window but refused to give me his name or his managers name. Also refused to give me the number to corporate.Slammed the door in my face.They were not wearing name tags. I adore Taco Bueno - it's my favorite fast-food Tex-Mex joint. I'm pretty sure they don't use too much in the way of preservatives. I saw something in the drive-thru window about no preservatives, but I haven't done any research into it or anything. It's not very crowded, at least it wasn't when we went. I like everything on the menu that I've tried (which, over the years, has been most of it!), but I always end up going back to the nacho salad, taco salad, or fajita tacos. Sometimes chicken potato burritos (carb overload!). I ADORE their hot sauce - it's actually a salsa rather than a taco sauce/hot sauce. If you dine in, they have a salsa bar so you can get as much of it as your heart desires. The salsa bar also features jalapenos and pico de gallo. The restaurant was clean, and the staff was nice!
