Every dish allows you to "choose your protein", and Taco Bus gives you four options: mushrooms, vegan steak, plant protein (tofu), and butternut squash. We ordered the tacos with mushrooms and the chimichanga with tofu. Both were tasty and filling. There are sauces and hot sauce to add if you want (I did and it enhanced the food). The chimichanga included Mexican rice, which the manager assured me was also vegetarian (most have chicken stock). I didn't even finish my"strak". The ground beef is good I did enjoy that taco. The beef empanada we got taste like beer battered fish. My partner got the pulled chicken nachos and he liked them and where a big amount so he was happy. The place is warm and it stinks like fried food so I'm sure I will smell the rest of the night. I'm originally from NY, and I visited Clearwater about a year ago. I loved finding this taco spot. I mean who doesnt love tacos?? Prices are extremely reasonable and the portions are generous. I love that they offer vegan/vegetarian options because a lot of Mexican restaurants don't usually offer many veggie options. The food is delicious and the wait time is minimal. If you're in the area and spent an entire day laying out at the beach and are starving from being in the sun all day... this is the place to get your belly filled! They have a large drink menu and they have Spanish desserts available as well. If I'm ever in the area, this is definitely a place I would come back to. First, let me start by saying the photos I've attached do NOT do these tacos justice. The tacos at this place taste amazing! I'm a creature of habit, so I went with the hard shell filled with ground beef, cheese, and pico de gallo, topped with some sour cream. These are easily in the top 3 taco places I've ever tried. Wasn't really expecting too much from this place but when we got our food home, we were all blown away by the flavors. I got the blackened seafood burrito and it was everything I was craving. The blackening seasoning was flavorful and spicy without being overwhelming. The seafood was juicy, plump, and not rubbery. The addition of their salsas definitely kicked it up a notch. Great location right across from the Clearwater Hotel. The chips were fresh, hot and crispy and were delicious with the self-serve pump red salsa. The green salsa is spicy but also good. The salsa they provided with the chips looks the same as the self serve salsa but was a bit sweeter and tomatoey. The marinated shredded pork taco was tasty but the shell was not heated. Tried the marinated chicken taco also and while it looked great, it was cold all the way through. Unfortunate as I was looking forward to trying both. Self-serve soda had many flavors. Atmosphere was light, alternating between Maroon 5 and Mariachi. I was in the dining room with a family and a couple and plenty of available seating. Many customers getting take out. This is one of the only places in the Clearwater strip with a solid vegan option that is not a basic burger or sad salad. When we went Saturday for a late lunch around 2, the wait time was 30 minutes from entering the restaurant to receiving the food. The staff members were friendly, and there is free wifi. There are many inconsistencies. One person in my party ordered the Twiin Grande Tacos with chicken, refried beans, rice, cheese, pico and sour cream. She said her food was delicious and she's a taco/burrito fanatic. Another person ordered Steak Twiin Grande Tacos. He wasn't aware of the up charge for steak. There is a small $ symbol to show the up charge but is easily missed. The menu is also unclear listing toppings for some of the menu items but not others, while also having a "3rd stop" saying all menu items come with the same toppings. This left one party member with some toppings they didn't want simply because the menu was unclear and confusing. Additionally, 2 of us got the steak as our protein and felt the quality of it wasn't worth the $2 up charge. It was maybe a sight upgrade from frozen steak-ums and there was no seasoning even though the menu advertised it as being marinated in Mexican seasonings. All in all, it appears you should choose chicken over steak as your protein. Hopefully the other options offer more for the palette than the steak does. The workers are friendly enough and the dining area has a relaxed feel. read more

I just made sure that I asked for something other than a quesadilla. I had a Chimichanga with grilled chicken for $8.99 and a fountain soda for $1.99. My Chimichanga was larger than I expected and tasted better than I expected. I'm glad I gave this chain another shot. My friends were staying at the Opal Sands resort and found out about this restaurant because it was right next to their hotel. It is a great option of you need some quick food versus going to a sit down restaurant with wait staff. I enjoy visit here, their food is pretty good especially for the value since it is pretty cheap. They have lots of options for food also it is not just tacos. They have $5 margaritas. The clearwater blue is so good! I highly recommend trying that flavor. The fact that they have a mini bus inside is so cute. I can always appreciate the extra effort put in for decor themes. Redemption. I had taco bus for the first time at the original location and the chips were horrible. So the wife and I tried the beach location. The good news is the chips were good. I ordered the chimichanga and it came out perfect. A lightly crisp exterior with perfectly cooked shredded pork and delicious beans inside. The cheese sauce on top was a nice touch. Unfortunately their plastic knives are horrible for cutting it so i just picked it up and got messy. I also ordered the horchata and it was good. Its a sweet rice milk drink with cinnamon.
