We went here on Cinco de Mayo because our favorite Mexican restaurant was too slammed to take any more orders. Welllll, we now have a new favorite Mexican restaurant. My husband and daughter adore the American Taco dinners. I had the Tampequeña chef's recommendation. It was cooked to perfection and that is hard for take out steak. #1...they have elotes! My fave Mexican street food (it's this amazing corn dish). It's not in the cob, which is the best way to have it, it in the cup l, which is fine. #2...this is my first time at this location, it's very clean, nice tables and chairs, well lit, easy to get to, plenty of parking and a very nice digital menu board. Plus, it has this lovely scent of something like cinnamon, maybe it's the horchata. But I enjoyed the scent as I sat there waiting for my to go order. #3...the food! Love. Adore. Mucho bueno. Delicioso. I grew up in Central and South America and their tamales are here are fantastic. And I'm picky about tamales. Nothing like the dry ones at other local places. I was clued in to this place through Foodsby at my office. This last week I was lucky enough to be in the office when it came up on the menu and I ordered the steak Milanesa and churro. Steak was tender and crispy with two salsas to choose from that were very different but both very delicious. Tons of flour tortillas came with the meal and beans and rice. The Churro was also great and not raw in the centre as I've experienced with other lunch spots. I'm a fan for sure! read more

1. Carne Asade enchilada was good but small 2. Lengua taco was PACKEDDD with flavor. No extra salsa needed. 3. Steak suizo burrito was absolutely the best meal we got. Everything came with rice and beans. The beans we DELICIOUS. My boyfriend usually hates refried beans but actually ate them this time! The customer service and cleanliness of Taco Diner was fantastic as well. I assume either the manager or the owner was there when we walked in. He was extremely helpful and very friendly. Love this place but it has been inconsistent lately. The tacos are either a 10 or a 5. And tonight it was a 5. Pastor lacked flavor as well as the elote. The elote only had toppings but nothing underneath and left a lot of corn water. I felt like my order was just thrown together. As I was missing a tortilla and had half the meat on one of my tacos. I'm having trouble understanding why this place has a $ rating for price. It should definitely be $$ at least. The food was okay, but they charged me 22 dollars for 3 tacos, chips and guacamole, a curro, and a bottled coke. They made me pay for extra salsa in a big container which couldn't have cost them that much to make. The salsa cups they give you are less than an ounce. And then they only fill them half way. So you get barely any salsa to begin with. The food was okay, but it certainly wasn't worth the price they were charging. I was talking to some friends about my experience, they were also charged 3 dollars for a bigger serving of salsa to go. And had similar experiences. The only reason this place isn't getting 1 star is because the staff is at least super polite and kind. And I doubt it's up to them to charge me a crazy amount for the salsa. read more

Wow they are terrible at making burritos! I've complained once and tried to give them another chance and still they are terrible. The first time there was nothing but lettuce and tomato with a tiny bit of steak and cheese/sour cream. Now all it is is steak and sour cream or cheese with hardly and lettuce or tomato. There is so much sour cream i couldn't even eat it and either could my boyfriend. We will definitely be taking our business else where! And I don't need the manager to reply because it's not worth it! She messaged me saying I'd have a better experience and I did not! read more

Simply amazing! The food here is terrific and a lot better than some the taco places in the area. I accidentally found them going to the H&R Block next-door and stopping for lunch and you can tell that they use fresh ingredients and it's not just sitting around. We ordered two entrees and a "Full" order of "Authentic Mexican Nachos" (Which are a completly separate menu item from the "American Nachos" and not a "half order" which would have been half the $9 charge) and we received one ice cold entree and two containers of....well...see for yourself. Exactly 6 tortilla chips smeared with sour tasting nacho cheese sauce (or "Authentic Mexican Cheeses" as they describe it on the menu) and what appears to be gauc smothered in sour cream. This dish could never be served in Mexico solely for the fact that the temperature would never drop so low to allow it to get do cold. The driver also complained about how "far away" we are when he delivered the food 1 hour and 40 minutes after we ordered. We are less the 3 miles from the restaurant. read more

Woke up one morning craving Huevos a la Mexicana. I have my usual go to spots but wanted to stay local. I passed by the Taco Diner a few times since their opening and decided to venture on in. I had no idea if they served breakfast or not but I figured most likely they did. Although I did not see it on their menuboard at first I asked the manager if they could make me Huevos a la Mexicana as a special request. To my surprise he told me they serve exactly that dish and other breakfast items all day. Love the cozy atmosphere and open table seating. The chips and salsa for dining in was delicious. Warm chips and seasoned with 3 different salsas to dip into was awesome! My main breakfast meal came out shortly. For those not familiar with what I ordered its scrambled eggs mixed with tomato, jalapenos and onions. Served with a side of rice, beans and tortillas. It has a slight spicy kick to it just an FYI. Overall my first experience was a pleasant one. Friendly staff and dynamite horchata also hit the spot. Taco Diner is located in a plaza which makes parking easy. read more

This place is good! We tried Taco Diner on Maple in Lisle for the first time. The steak taco was awesome; fresh and tasty. I liked the pastor taco and my wife LOVED the shrimp taco. Service was quick and courteous. In addition to tacos, they feature enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, some great looking salads and even breakfast. They have a wide selection of platters, maybe 20, that I look forward to trying. We were served chips and 3 tasty salsas/sauces. I'll keep this short.....this is the last time I trust people's reviews on yelp....what I've learned is if a place has 100 good reviews on yelp and then there's a few scattered among them saying the place is no big deal.......ferytike the place has been no big deal....and this is one of them....I wanted to try something new close to home and this place had good reviews.....on here at least......well it sucked....no opinion, this is fact. I ordered 4 fish tacos for two of us, el pastol...maybe spelled wrong.... and a steak taco.....obviously people never had good fish tacos before because these were dogshit wrapped in a corn poop bag.....do NOT waste your money on these I don't give a damn what any if these losers say in here.....the steak taco does have the authentic carne asada flavor but it still sucked and the whole lunch was a waste of money.....you go out to enjoy food, not eat it because you paid for it.....and that's exactly what the hell we had to do........so you've now been warned. If this place was next door to where I live, I'd never cook again. This place is great! We were headed to the Eyes to the Skies festival but decided to eat here instead. Good idea for sure. This place is a little small but clean. They have a good menu too! Of course I had to try their steak tacos. I ordered them Authentic Mexican style (cilantro and onion only). They also have the American style (lettuce, cheese, tomato). Dude, always choose authentic Mexican to savor the yummy way the steak is made. You can definitely tell this is some quality steak - it's not full of grisel (aka fat) and it's not greasy like other taco places. I love the way it's done, just super tender. It was a little bland but you can add some salt to it. Great tacos! Also, their soda fountain machine is CLEAN! People, seriously, they keep it clean and I'm pristine condition. And they have my favorite Coke Zero...mmmmmmm. Love the hospitality of the owner/manager. He made sure we were ok and overall, he is a nice person. Glad I tried it! This place has been here awhile, but I generally pass it by. Last night though, the boyfriend and I wanted some tacos, and we wanted them on the less expensive side. Boy oh boy, the place is really nice inside, super clean (like eat off the floors clean) and the decor was way nicer than I expected.
