Taco Express is good value for your money. Any lunch under $10 these days is ok for my budget. I got the grilled chicken burrito with chips and salsa. It was a solid filling meal. The burrito was good but not one I would go out of my way for. The chips were just ok as well. The salsa was good and fresh and the hot salsa I got for my burrito was good as well. They have hot and mild. I got the hot and it is gringo hot. It had some kick but and most people who don't eat peppers would find it hot. I thought it was tasty with a decent amount of heat without being hot. The service was good and quick. I'll probably go back just because it is convenient. read more

Much more than tacos here! I needed to grab something quick for lunch and this place is close to my office so I thought I would check out the food. I placed a to go order for 2 ground beef enchiladas and guacamole and chips. The guacamole and chips were great. I would have been more excited if I actually had beef enchiladas instead of cheese enchiladas when I got it back to my office but they were good. There was probably a misunderstanding with my southern accent so I will have to go back soon for beef enchiladas. The service was very friendly and fast. We have been going to this place for taco Tuesday since we moved here in august. Tonight we had very rude service, asked for one corn tortilla on the tacos and was argued with saying they couldn't do it?? That is how I have ordered them for months and they were able to resist putting that second corn tortilla on my taco. She finally said they would do it, which they did Not! Best Mexican restaurant in Columbia, hands down! I recommend this place to anyone going to or traveling through Columbia. Their salsa is fresh and not too spicy. I always get their quesadilla, they are loaded with food and leave you full. They also have delicious burritos, enchiladas and nachos. One of my absolute favorite things they serve is their guacamole. It is fresh and more on the creamy side so heads up if you are into chunky guacamole. They have great service and are always polite. This rating is based solely on the fact that these tacos are perfect. It's not a true 5star restaurant, but if you come expecting a standard store front taco joint you will be wildly pleased at the food. Pretty average building, loud Spanish music playing, annoying daytime television....and then...Pastor tacos! A little grill char, a little spice and a LOT of flavor. This used to be my favorite spot, but the last few times hasn't been so pleasant. I did a call in order for a chicken quesadilla, no guacamole. Of course, it had extra guacamole on it. I was really stunned on how the portion size just keep getting smaller and the price is steadily increasing. So I sure hated to drive it back, but I did. Living in south Texas my entire life with authentic Tex-Mex, I would consider myself a bit of a snob when it comes to good Mexican food, and honestly after an EXTREMELY and I do mean EXTREMELY exhaustive search in this town, my final vote is for here. Pretty decent food, good prices, staff is super sweet and their consistent. Only things I would change, thicker queso (PS: Why is there NO yellow queso in this town?,) chimichangas actually dropped and fried instead of just browning on outside, and what's up with the cinnamon in the enchilada gravy? This is one of the best places ever for mexican food. They have their own delicious flavors that are always very fresh tasing. The portions are extremely generous! Came here while on a business trip and grabbed a quick bite with colleagues. A number of us were fairly new to the Columbia area and were recommended to eat here which turned out to be a great choice. Service was friendly and really fast even though the line was out the door. The one woman whom took our orders worked the cash register and the small dining room that is available to patrons whom eat inside. To-go is also an option, and is simply served in a bag with napkins and plasticware; they also do catering to local establishments. With six of us in our party we waited no less than 10 minutes to receive food and each of our tables received two bottles of salsa, the green one being hotter than the red sauce. Neither were particularly hot and I'm not sure if the sauce is made by them or simply delivered. The quality of ingredients was middle of the road and rather greasy, but tasty enough to warrant a visit there over Taco Bell any day. I ordered a veggie burrito and it was more than enough food for one, if you add the beans and rice that come as a side option, that could easily satisfy two people. Considering there aren't a lot of options in the area, this is a great local place to stop and enjoy a quick bite! read more

I will not be going back here. For one it took about 30 minutes to get my food and was then given the wrong order and had to wait longer. I never got my drink that was supposed to come with my combo. Then I get home and there's no guacamole on my rolled tacos even though I specifically asked for it. The enchiladas are in a gross sweet sauce that tastes like cinnamon, so we didn't even eat them at all. And the shrimp burrito that we got tasted like old shrimp and the only thing in the burrito was the shrimp and some sauce. I am very disappointed and will need to find a different Mexican food place to go to. read more
