I just recently moved to the area and have been desperately searching for a go-to Mexican place. (I've had a few in the area and still am not a huge fan of any I've had.)Tonight, I had the chicken enchiladas suizas con salsa verde. SO GOOD. The salsa verde was spicy but not so much that you can't enjoy the flavor. Not to mention the fact that with the dinner you get 4 enchiladas! Also had the guac and it was tasty as well. This is a great mom and pop restaurant that you should absolutely try. I love the steak fajitas and think they are the best in all the suburbs. I'm pretty stuck up when it comes to my Mexican food and I was a little disappointed in their chicken burrito the first time I came but I gave them a second chance and they've become my favorite Mexican spot! What made me come back was the attentiveness and friendliness of the son working the front counter. He told me that his mom makes a peanut sauce and a avocado green sauce from scratch and they have a little cart by the counter with the sauces and free spicy carrots. I've never seen this before and I swear that avocado sauce is one of the best things I've ever had. My friend orders the steak burrito and he says it's the best one he's ever had. I'm a big fan of orchata and they do a great job with that as well. When I lived in Downers Grove I would come here about once a week. This is the only restaurant I miss from the area. I was in Naperville today and it was close enough for me to stop in for some lunch. read more

I never thought I would say this, but I think I have found somewhere that is faster than Jimmy Johns. Yes folks, its your local Taco Express! It was truly an express stop as I was in and out of the shop within 2 minutes max. I only ordered a simple taco and tostado for a small snack to hold me over till dinner but I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the whole experience. The tostada was delicious and would recommend it. I am looking forward to my next stop at Taco Express to try something else on the menu. Absolutely love the steak burritos and the steak tacos!! I think my boyfriend and I order from there at least once a week and of late we always get the steak burrito. The meat is not greasy or fatty. When they have them, the chicken tamales are amazing as well. I have had the chicken enchiladas, taco salad, and the chicken tacos as well. I have not found anything there that I didn't like. Me and my family wanted to try a new place for Mexican food. When we walked in, we were excited about the variety of foods offered on the menu. We have a baby and we were going to put him in their high chair. Me and my wife noticed the high chair was filthy. So we cleaned it with some baby wipes. After this we ordered our food. I ordered the 4 quesida, my wife ordered the chille rellano dinner and my mother in law ordered a torta with ham and cheese. My quesidas were steak meat and the meat was very dry. My wife's chills rellano was soaked in grease. She could only eat the chille and cheese. My mother in laws torta was microwaved and tasted very old. We were all very disappointed and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. read more

We used to frequent El Famous, but found the food to be a little greasy. Figured we'd try this place as it was so close to home. What a pleasant surprise. My husband loves the steak tacos. I used to get tortas, which are great, but I'm now addicted to the chicken tacos! There's a delicious sauce on them and the meat isn't hidden under a ton of lettuce. I get the corn tortillas because they are the best I've had. I tried the fajitas, which were very good, authentic. But the chicken taco can't be beat! The guacamole is good, the salsas are good, especially the verde and the tomatillo! Even the jalapeno/carrot mix is great and actually has a nice kick! OMG! This is the most authentic Mexican restaurant around! Great tacos/burritos/quesadillas. Although my personal favorite, and I highly recommend, is the taco salad w/pork! We used to eat here regularly but the quality has been slowly going down. The flavors used to be like you were in Pilsen but now it's become much too suburban. The pork is now more sauce than meat and it's lost it's punch. The steak burrito is become very basic. On the plus side, the steak quesadillas are still pretty good and the kids like them. My first time eating at this place. I ordered a taco dinner with 3 steak tacos to go. So to be fair my review is only on the items in my order. Tacos - Average. Nothing special, they were not bad, but not memorable in any way. I've been on a taco binge, lately and my biggest issue with these tacos, was at the lack of meat in the taco. There was literally about a tablespoon of meat in each of the three tacos. The meat was of average quality, with very little fat. Beans - Average, not bad, not good. The 3 tortilla chips they put on the beans were very stale. Mexican rice - Very good. It has a great flavor and you could taste the chicken broth it was cooked in. It was a little underdone, but the flavor was among the best I've had from a restaurant. Price - I paid about $9.56 with tax for the 3 taco dinner, which is comparable to most places, but the lack of meat in my tacos made this more expensive. Personally, I think Taco Diner has better tacos and beans, but the rice here was better. read more

Menu board shows " burrito suizo dinner - $9.99" - yet they add $2.00 for the 'suizo' -- not 'extra suizo', just suizo so item costs $11.99 Why would the menu board say suizo if it wasn't included in the $9.99 ?? We have been victimized on a few occasions and I finally contacted the owner - Luis - who told me that the $2 charge should NOT apply and assured me of a $4 credit on my next visit. I visited them last Saturday and sure enough, no credit was going to be issued and the extra $2 was going to be applied. Needless to say, I left without ordering and went across the street to Beggars. My last visit and my last attempt to work with them ... The food is very generic and tasteless. Most of the time, they just throw some meat cooked over an hour ago onto a tortilla, and heat it up on the griddle for a minute. If you want something much better, go a mile down the road to Los Burritos Tapatios. Los is far from great, but it is the best in the Downers, Darien, Westmont area.The service here is decent. The kitchen doesn't look very clean for a place that just opened a couple months ago. The one upside to this place is that they have a sauce bar next to the counter so you can grab all the sauce you want to-go, although I found the flavor of the sauce to be very lackluster. read more
