We went to Jalisco because it was nearby and my 'little' (BB&BS) loves quesadillas, rice & beans. In fact she is very selective now where she will eat them. First the service was awful, we waited a long time to be seated only because they were inattentive. No one in front or behind us in an uncrowned restaurant. In fact, during our dinner I watched a couple leave because they were not being seated. The refried beans was like tasteless baby food, the rice unflavored. She didn't care for the flavor of the meat in her quesadilla. For me the benchmark is a good Chili Relleno. Unfortunately, theirs did not make the grade. To begin they tasted like they came out of the bottom of the freezer. They were so heavily battered you could not taste the pepper. What we did enjoy was the ambiance and the big sombreros you can don while there. These were good little tacos just slightly lacking in flavor a bit. Also the hubby ordered a torta which I thought was good but he said could have used more meat. Lastly we got a wet burrito which looked really yummy but I guess for me doesn't really work in execution as it gets soggy and almost unappetizing. I put a cashew in between my toes before I entered. You never know what you will get.. I ordered the coyote burger. 100% bison and pork and cattle mix. I can easily say this is absolutely the best gas station tacos/burritos I have ever eaten. I joke of course, but the food was delicious and authentic (they had "American" version of everything also) and very reasonably priced for the quality. I'm from NJ where we have great Mexican food and this was really delicious. Nothing fancy. We were in the area for just a few days and came back here twice in that short time. The girl working the cash register and phone has a very nasty attitude. The last time we took food out, the chips were stale. I called them and they said to remind them the next time I was in. This used to be so good. Very disappointing today. I ordered delivery - beef tacos and a beef chimichanga. The beef in both dishes taste like they took it from the fridge and made the dish with out heating anything. Ice ice ice cold when I received the food. The chimichanga was made up of pretty much all rice with a garnish of ground beef and the beef had absolutely no flavor. That was one of my favorite things about their tacos was the flavoring they used. Tacos were sparse in the beef department with lettuce no cheese. All the sauces I requested were not included when delivered. I do not recommend this place at all....it's a shame because their food use to be so good. read more

Finally!!! After three years of searching, we have a taqueria in Sarasota that knows what a burrito is! I've been served meat in a tortilla, tortillas filled with mystery ingredients, covered in sauce or cheese wiz, chimichangas... all misrepresented as burritos. A burrito should be simple. I don't get it. Nacho cheese from a can like what you get at a high school football game. Tacos (chorizo, tongue and barbacoa) we're fine. Nothing special. Mexican pizza was soggy and could have come from Taco Bell. Chicken enchiladas were swimming in tomato sauce- not salsa - just tomato sauce. There's just something about marinated pork and pineapple which I find so delicious. The tacos are cheap, as they should be. These three tacos were $2.50 each. Simple, yet so packed with flavor.
