I Find the staff rude. I was in watching a young girl be trained in wrapping burritos and the people training her were rude and making fun of her! I will never go to Taco Joes Again....this poor girl! She was a young little blond girl....very pretty, big blue eyes and extremely polite and profession....it was her first day. I know this because I commented on how hard she was working and the staff member just rolled her eyes. I hate this place and will not allow anyone I know to go there. Favorite quick service taco joint on the island! I used to be a big fan of Moe's, but now it's all about Taco Joe's. I come here on a weekly basis with the bf. I get the El Deluxos, he gets the massive Grand Canyon. Delicious every time. We've also recently fell in love with one of the nacho dishes. And unlike most other food places now-a-days, when we ask for extra guacamole on top or just about any other topping, there is NO additional charge, they just schlep on twice the amount no problem! Just don't get it on the side otherwise they'll have to charge you. And the guacamole is one of the best I've ever tasted! Can't get enough of Taco Joe's! read more

Eh, I am not impressed with Taco Joe's. I think it was better when it first opened but if you compare it Chipotle or Moe's I think that it falls behind. I keep trying Taco Joe's thinking that it is going to be better the next time, but I am always leaving unsatisfied. I cannot pinpoint what it is exactly that doesn't make it great, but I think I am finished trying/hoping the food will be tasty. I have tried their burritos, bowls, and quesadillas and nothing hits the spot. I do have to say their chips, salsa, and guacamole are good. As for the yogurt and such side.. Huge portions, great food, and great service. I was on my way to All American when I was drawn to this place by its large, well lite sign. The place was packed, with the line nearly out of the door. The line moved fast, almost too fast I was worried about recieving a sloppy dish which can happen easily when burritos are involved. I ordered the Grand Canyon Burrito..which was grand to say the least. The burrito was fresh, also wice as flavorful and twice the size as Moes and Qdoba. Its really too much to eat, but I got it down. My daughter ordered the Taco Joey which she enjoyed. The tortilla chips are a week side dish on a kids menu, but the frozen yogurt was a hit. This place was great when it first opened. Eager and hungry owners there to make a name for themselves. Servers were respectfully and food was quick Fast forward a number of years and Taco Joes is another run of the mill Mexican place run by a bunch of bored teenagers. Food is about the same (average at best) although prices have increased. What really strikes me is the lack of attention and in most cases poor service. The guys/gals behind the glass couldn't care less if you feel rushed or if they act like you are bothering them. This isn't a single occurrence but instead the new normal. when it comes to fast casual mexican, you'll be hard pressed to find anyplace on long island that tops taco joe's...bigger portions, more variety, much more flavorful than moe's, chipotle, etc...the food is top notch here, fresh & very flavorful...the meteor crator (their huge taco salad) is my mainstay, but i also have enjoyed their burritos, fajitas & nachos from time to time - all are terrific the only slight issues that arise at taco joe's have to do with crowding, and it's mostly because so many people have discovered how great this place is...the parking lot is very small, and the line is out the door...don't fret though, there is parking on the street a big lot across the way that you can walk over from, and the line moves pretty quickly next time you have a mexican craving, check this place out, you won't be disappointed! read more

Great tasting food. Same setup as Chipotle and Moe's. Has more variety than Chipotle and you get free tortilla chips that tastes better than Moe's. The meat tastes good and their hot salsa is very hot. The line moves quick and the prices are reasonable. read more

Great food at the massapequa location. The staff is so nice and service is fast. I always tip for good service and the first time in I left the girls on the line preparing the food a tip with the cashier. The cashier didn't say anything and I don't think the girls got it. Great food and three different choices. Most of the time you would think a place that serves tacos, wraps and ice cream wouldn't be good but this place is just that. Actually it's great. The Mexican is fresh and spot on. I recommend the spicy chicken or regular ground beef in whichever menu option you go with. I personally love the burritos. It's a standard burrito bar with all your favorite toppings so you can really customize exactly what you want. Think Moe's or Chipotle but a lot better. I've only gotten one thing from the Wrap section and it was the grilled chicken Greek wrap. It is one of the best and most delicious around. I haven't had the yogurt or other wraps but it seems like this section is always just as busy as the Mexican side so they must be doing something right. This place is pretty similar to Chipolte. It's a decent sized place with plenty of options. I've been here I believe 3-4 times and had overall good experinces thus far. I've tried both the steak and chicken burrito aka the Grand Canyon which was great! I really liked how you can customize everything to order and it works basically as an assembly line. They warm up the tortilla and you customize from there. They have whole wheat options which I love and black beans instead of re-fried. ALSO! They give you delicious chips and salsa with the order. The food here is really good. Not the greasy garbage you'd normally associate with any company with "Taco" in their name. Food is fresh and always tastes great. I'll do "Grand canyons" every time I visit. A giant burrito done your way all day? How can you go wrong? Maybe I'll do ground beef and black beans on Monday, only to do all veg on tuesday. Really like to go here for a salad. The fact that you watch the workers grill the chicken behind you really ensures you it is fresh. I always get a chopped salad from here, whether mexican veggie, chicken or from the other side (yogurt and such) and getting a chopped chicken with feta. Ordered food from here and was missing parts of my order when it arrived. The fish sandwich is complete garbage about a nuggets worth of fish and the rest slaw and thin sliced tomato. Came here a couple years ago and found hair in my food , I told the lady there was hair in it and she told me the employees wear gloves, which makes no sense, she didn't offer to make a new dish, just gave the money back, and it wasn't really in a customer friendly way...I decided to give this place another try today and it looks like the quality has went down since it opened back in the day. I was completely new to Taco Joes up until last night. I never even step foot in this place until yesterday. OMG this place is great. You want fast food but HEALTHY?! This is the place. I got the "little canyon" and it was VERY filling for my size (plus I don't eat a lot) so this was a huge treat for me. Even the chips and guacamole were great! Oh my god I am mortified. Just as I was about to finish my food I looked up and discovered that the walls were covered with bugs. Not just a few, many. There's no way that they don't have them in the food. If a place has big juicy fruit flies all over the walls, it's not clean. We always end up getting some kind of stomach ailment for a few days after. I guess you forget after your last stomachache. So I end up going back. But I will never go back there again. Me & my boyfriend have been here quite a few times.. first time I had hair in my food but because it was the same color as mine I had to be fair and not blame the staff. The last time I was here (a couple of days ago) my boyfriend asked for steak in his burrito and the kid simply replied "we don't have steak" instead of "sorry there's no steak right now but it's cooking if you want to wait or I can get you something else" since he didn't have the option to wait (yet we literally saw the steak almost done cooking behind him) he was forced to go with chicken instead, whatever. Then as we were leaving I didn't realize that I forgot to grab my scarf so when I got home (mind you I live in Long Beach which is 30-40 mins away and we would drive all the way to Massapequa just to have taco joes) I realized I forgot my scarf.. I proceeded to call the number provided online to see if anyone found it but there was no answer so I called the Westbury location hoping he'd know how to contact them before I drive all the way there and they don't have my scarf and the manager at that location was VERY helpful and said "I'm sorry, they choose not to answer their phone" WOW, OKAY. So I take the drive there because it's my favorite scarf and when I get there I ask the manager "hey, I was here early afternoon and forgot my scarf, I was wondering if you found it?" She says super quick "nope I didn't see anything" so I raise an eyebrow since she didn't even bother to ask anyone or look for me and a very nice employee said "I'll go look in the back" HOW IS ONE OF YOUR EMPLOYEES MORE HELPFUL AND CONSIDERATE THAN THE MANAGER?! Unbelievable! Fat Boy Burrito is pretty much up the block although the line is usually long it's definitely worth the wait!! Will never come here again. read more

Mediocre Mexican food try chiptole for more flavor

Discovered this place recently and absolutely love the food here! So fresh & flavorful... Burritos, tacos, and quesadillas are all great especially with the spicy chicken! For that fact alone I would have given it 5 stars easily but on numerous occasions the workers here have been incredibly rude. They always make it seem like it's an inconvenience when you're ordering & they rush you before you even complete your order. Makes it a very uncomfortable experience. I can't wait for the Levittown location to open because hopefully there will be better customer service there! read more

A step up from Taco Bell, and a step below a sit down Mexican restaurant. This would be on the same playing field as Chipotle and Moe's. The food is fresh and made to order. My issue is that, each time I've gone, the food never hit the spot. It wasn't seasoned well and for the quesadillas or burritos, it was just plastered with cheese. Taco joes is the closest thing you will get to traditional Mexican food on long island. Though i do sometimes enjoy getting Moes or chipotle, taco joes is superior to all. My food was pretty good! I hate walking into a place and seeing a bunch of teenagers behind the counter rolling their eyes because a customer came in, and now they have to do some 'work'. But I digress. I got the pulled pork sandwich with coleslaw on top. The pork and the bbq sauce was actually much better then I thought it was going to be! The coleslaw was not that great. But the teenager behind the counter hardly put any on my sandwich so I could not completely taste the slaw anyway. But what I really liked about this place was the price. My sandwich which had a lot of meat on it came with a side of tortia chips, which were yummy and tasted homemade. The whole meal came in at under $5!!! Which I loved more then the taste of the meal itself. If I am ever craving this kind of food and I am in Massapequa I would try this again. Ordered chicken soft tacos with all the fixings. This dish comes with a small bag of chips. Ai like the fact that they have a variety of hot sauces to add to your food. What turns me off were two things, the soda machine was dirty, including the ice chute and secondly an employee finishes his lunch and then proceeds to go behind the counter and make himself a yogurt and devour it behind the counter.
